Halloween - Costume TF Story

My name is Sean, I'm a 23 year old IT Student at Forth Valley College in Stirling I was 6'3" tall and a bit on the skinny side. I didn't have a lot muscle on me and I ain't exactly on the strong side either. But I was no pushover, I used to do a lot Ti-chi when I was living in England mainly for my heart due to problems growing up. But I did learn quite a few defensive moves that could break an arm or two without much effort.

Anyway it was Tuesday evening and I was chatting away to two of my MSN friends in group chat, Malky & Iain. I had known these two guys for years on various forums and messenger, we were all big football supporters. Myself and Malky being big supporters of Celtic football club and we had met up at a few games over the last year. Iain was a supporter of city rivals Rangers and we had yet came up with a plan that would suit all parties for a meet up. That was until a few weeks ago.

"Man how did I let you guys rope me into this" I typed.

We decided it was time we all met up as a group for the first time which suited us all. Iain had just turned 18 as was now legally allowed to drink, myself being 23 and Malky 21, it was perfect to meet up in Scotland's largest city for a drink and have a good laugh....

"C'mon it will be fun, It's Halloween, It's a Saturday so it means Pubs & Clubs will packed and most will no doubt be having Halloween parties" came Malky's reply

"Listen I have no OBJECTION when it comes to clubbing and drinking. But the fact I've got to get into costume is what I was objecting to." I replied.

"Ahh stop being a fanny. I'm going as a dragon I got this amazing costume from the special Halloween store in Buchanan Galleries the other day" Iain replied.

"You got a dragon costume as well? I saw the store myself a few days ago while I was in the city meeting up with a friend from England. Since I had time to spare before I met my friend I did check it out. Didn't have anything I was looking for out on display...." I typed

"Yeah I'm going as a dragon, but what do you mean AS WELL??" Iain typed back

"I wasn't finished...." I started "I got a package in the post yesterday with a costume I was looking for...Which is kinda spooky as I never spoke to the sales assistant nor did I say what I was after and the return address on the package is that Halloween special store in the shopping centre."

"Wow that is weird....I assume it's a Dragon costume" Iain said

"A dragon costume...Aye, Almost to the exact detail as the one I had thought up for my dragon tablet. Complete with horns, wings and tail and the brown scales. I'm not even sure I wanna wear this since I'm so freaked out by the way it's arrived without me saying a single word or how the costume matches my dragon from my story" I typed back.

"Err what story is this??" Malky replied

Malky didn't know about my story writing or about DA he's the type of person that would just laugh and rip the pish out of you. Iain knew he stumbled across my DA account when he googled my username. He was impressed with my work and had been following it ever since.

"Err don't worry about it. Just a wie project I'm doing for someone, what you coming down as?" I said

"Well for starters I wish I had the luxury of going into to Glasgow whenever you felt like it. But I've managed to pick myself up a Dog Soldier's costume in Aberdeen... you know a werewolf" Came Malky's reply.

"Yeah I've seen the movie Malky." Both myself and Iain replied at the same time.

"Anyway guys I'm away. If I don't see ye's on here before Friday I'll see you both at Queen Street Station on Saturday.....in costume...." I typed

I waited for both Malky & Iain to say they goodbye's before I signed off for the night.

The rest of the week pasted very quickly and Wednesday morning my dad phoned me and offered me his ticket for Celtic's home match against Hearts in the Scottish Co-operative League Cup Quarter-final.... which we lost. (I'll spare ye's the details)

Thursday was boring as hell with college all day with two of the most boring units in my studies this year. Computing: Planning and IT: Application Software. I fell asleep during the ITAS class that was embarrassing. I spent Thursday night trying to get some of my stories moving for DA but without much progress.

And then it was Friday, no college to contend with and an excuse to sleep in...Or so I thought. My dog had other ideas as he had somehow opened my door and started licking my face.

"Mac what are you doin." I moaned "Go on get out" sending my dog away. I sat on the edge of my bed rubbed my eyes and grabbed my laptop that was sitting on my chair, and spent the next half hour checking my messages.

There was only one it was from Iain, reminding me to grow up and wear that costume tomorrow. "Aye, right ye are Iain" I sighed.

I got up shoved on some jogging bottoms and my Celtic jersey, put on my trainers grabbed my coat and went out the back with the dog to let him do his business. After that I got a bath running and headed into the kitchen to grab some breakfast. I wasn't in a fussy mood and just poured myself a bowl of Corn Flakes. After my breakfast I had my bath, I had just shoved my jogging bottoms back on when I thought about trying on that costume that I had received.

I pulled out the package from under my bed and pulled out the costume and layed it out on my bed. I just stared at it for a good 10minutes. It was a whole suit, the material used was smooth but had a slight rubbery feel to it. It was brown with a lighter underbelly and also had a pattern drawn into it that made it look like real scales, The zipper was down the front but hidden so that it wasn't visible whilst it was being worn, I unzipped it and looked the inside of the costume and noticed it was padded up to give the costume that built up look and keep me warm I thought. The tail was I guessed was just filled with foam, the wings were folded up on to the back of the costume which was just as well since they would get in the way had they been spread out at their full length. The head of the costume was like a big hood, It could go right over my head and was packed so the muzzle of the costume wouldn't sag same could be said of the two horns as well, I guessed I could still see and breath quite easily once I was wearing it. What did get me was how was I supposed to get my feet into the three toed feet of the costume, the hands I thought wasn't going to be an issue true it only had 3 fingers and the thumb but one of the fingers did look a bit thicker than the others, and I guessed I just put 2 fingers into one of the costumes claws.

A shiver went down my spine and I ended up folding the costume up and putting it away. I knew I didn't have time to go out and get another costume for tomorrow so I just resigned myself to wearing it tomorrow in Glasgow when I went and met up with Iain and Malky. I just spent the rest of day browsing the web before I called it a night.

Saturday, Halloween...I sighed as I got up, I wasn't a big fan of Halloween practically due to the fact that I was always the one to go and answer the door and hand out the sweets every 5 minutes. And it was annoying when I was trying to watch my TV programs. At least tonight that job would fall on my folks since I never turn down an excuse to go out for a drink.

I just what I usually did in the morning, shoved on a pair of jogging bottoms and a t-shirt, went through to the front room and stuck on Soccer AM on sky sport. I went through to the kitchen and grabbed a bowl of crunchy nut for breakfast and sat and watched three hours of football chatter and general all round stupidity.

After which I took my dog for a walk and settled in-front of my laptop and loaded up a dodgy URL to watch the Celtic league game against Kilmarnock. After which it was 5pm and time to get ready for my night out. I pulled out the costume layed it out on my bed. I went to the bathroom had a quick shower, shave and brushed my teeth. I then went back to my room and picked up the costume

"Let's see how this is going to work" I said to myself, and I put on the costume. It was pretty much a perfect fit though the feet were going to awkward though, I put on the face mask but it was then that things started becoming strange. I was frozen stiff I couldn't move a muscle and then I was hit by a barrage of pain as every bone in my body felt like they had just been shattered and I collapsed to the floor in agony. I began to feel my feet & legs moulding to the costume I felt my legs gain muscle and my feet re-align to 3 toes with each toe gaining a half inch claw. I then felt a sharp and momentary burst of pain as I felt the costumes tail attach itself to my body it to then began to gain muscle. I could feel the changes continuing up my chest with my innards suffering the same fate. My hands and arms were next but wasn't as uncomfortable or painful until my hands went from 5 digits to 4 with claws sprouting through the tips of my remaining fingers.

Suddenly my shoulders began to re-shape as the costume's wings became mine, my chest broadened and gained muscle to accommodate my new limbs. I only had time to register that it was only my head to go, as I began to feel my neck extending and I began to feel my face elongating. My breathing was cut off for a second as my nose was absorbed and my mouth became the muzzle of the costume. I then felt the costumes 2 horns drill into my newly shaped skull before I passed out exhausted from the whole experience.

I was brought to the land of consciousness with my phone ringing away. I got gingerly got to my feet...err toes and picked up my mobile. It was Iain. I then remembered what this costume did to me and realised had one as well.

I answered my mobile and placed the phone up against the side of my re-formed head "Alright Iain" I found my voice hadn't changed much

"Hey Sean, Listen I'm no coming oot the night. Something's come up" came Iain's voice.

"Good cause I was gonna warn you not to wear that costume you got" I said.

It was then I sensed a hint of panic in his voice "Let me guess you put the costume on and next thing you knew the costume has transformed you into a dragon"

"Oh Crap" I said silently "You as well?"

"Aye" His breathing was rather rapid "I thought it was a dream as I passed out during the transformation, I came too half an hour ago and I realised that I'm now a seven and a half foot navy blue dragon complete with horns, tail and wings." His voice going more panic with each word.

"Listen mate calm down. I've only just came too and panicking won't help. Where are you? We need to find a solution." I Asked "I'm in Pollock country park." He said

"Right stay there I'll be down there as soon as I can. Phone Malky tell him he may as well get off at the next station and jump on the first train back north to Aberdeen" I said.

"Alright I'll see ye here shortly" he said and we both hung up.

"Christ almighty what a f***ing hole I'm in" I said as I put the phone down.

I took a deep breath and started looking myself over, one look at me and you would never of guessed that not long ago this was just a rubber suit, now it was part of me and my skin was replaced with hard brown scales. I checked out my tail & wings and I was shocked at how easily they responded considering I only had them for only five minutes from my point of view.

I checked my face in a mirror and sure enough a draconic face greeted me, my eyes were still blue but were now slitted, my ears were just small holes in the side of my draconic head and two, two and half inch horns were protruding out the back of my head.

I turned away from the mirror, grabbed my mobile, keys & wallet put them in a small bag and headed out the door....It took me five minutes to realise that I had taken straight to the skies and was flying south west towards Glasgow. "Shit...I could get used to this" I said to myself. I wasn't overly concerned about being seen. It was already dark out.

I couldn't believe how easy flying was especially since this was all new to me, and 20minutes later I was flying over Glasgow city centre heading towards Pollock Park.

I pulled out my mobile and rang Iain

"Hello?" Came Iain's voice

"Iain you wanna fly up in the air so I know where you are. I'm nearing the park." I said

"Sure, you found the flying pretty easy as well then?"

"I didn't know I was flying till I had left Stirling" I said as I spotted Iain raising up from the ground.

I hung up and flew towards him.

"Well this wasn't the first meeting I was expecting between us. What did you tell Malky?" I said.

"Aye some first meeting, I was too late in calling him. He was already at queen street station, he said he pop round to one of the bars for a pint before catching his train home in an hour. He ain't at all happy though"

"I don't blame him. I suggest we head to that shop first see if we can get some answers" I suggested.

Immediately Iain's head went down and that fear and panic was back in his voice.

"I've already tried that. It's gone. The shop is bare. If I didn't know any better I'd say it had been empty for months" he said in a quiet voice.

It was then I really started fearing for my future. I turned round and landed in the park. I just fell to the ground lost in thought about this whole situation. Now I knew what Iain must be thinking, he was worried about what his family must be thinking.

Right then a man appeared in front of us. "Why so down boys"

I looked up, he strangely looked like the man I seen running that Halloween shop I was in last weekend only looking much older. "Who the hell are you?" I asked

"My name is Dallben I'm a wizard" He said.

"Did you do this to us?" Iain spoke up

"I provided you with your dreams of a better life" Sounding like he didn't care what he had actually done. "I dove into your minds and saw that you's were after a simpler, easier life. I only provided the tools"

"So that's how you managed to send me that package right to my address" I asked.

"Indeed." He said "You see my task is simple, bring mythical creatures back to life. This is the only is the only way in which wizards like myself can accomplish our tasks. It's a slow process as we can't just do this to anyone. People have to want this. It was the only reason how you saw my shop on the run up to Halloween. Not many could see it."

"What about our friends and families?" Iain almost shouting at the guy

"The magic that we invoke on this process makes everyone forget you were ever on this planet." He said

I couldn't believe what I was hearing "where do we go from here then?" I said trying to stay calm.

"There's another world where people like yourself have left their lives behind all I do is open a portal and you start yourselves a new life. In the mean time it is Halloween. People won't look at you's two twice unless you really draw attention to yourselves. And I believe you's have a meet up still"

I still didn't like the fact that my old life was over but he was right about one thing I did wish for a simpler life and looking over at Iain he was thinking the same thing.

"How did you know about our meet up?" Iain said.

"I have the power to read minds remember. Besides your friend Malky is really pissed with you two so I suggest you's go and enjoy your last night before your forgotten"

I grabbed my bag and pulled out my mobile and gave Malky a phone.

"Phoning with your excuse for tonight?" Came Malky's reply.

"No I was phoning to ask where you are. I'm with Iain"

"You's mind telling me what's going on?" Malky replied

"Not really, But how about we get this night on the town started" I said

"Well I'd rather not have this journey down from Aberdeen to have been for nothing, I'm still at Weatherspoons on George Square, great offers on drinks here"

"Sweet. We'll be there in 5" I said and hung up. "Shall we get this show on the road" I said turning to Iain.

"Aye why not" A smile appearing on his muzzle for the first time.

"Just be back here by midnight" Dallben Called after us "Or the magic will be gone and people will see you for what you really are."

And sure enough we met up with Malky at the bar they had such a good event on and deals on drink we spent the whole evening there. It was a good job Malky's last train home was shortly before midnight so we said our goodbyes,

And went to start our new life's until the world was ready for our return....
