Michelle

Michelle rushed through the halls with Rachel in tow. She practically had to drag the normally independent girl whose mind seemed to have shattered into a thousand pieces, but there was little she could do outside of keep moving. Adrenalin moved her forward, past the forms of massive demons which initially gave chase until eventually they found shelter in a closet off of one of the many halls. Their breath quickened as they hid among some coats until the sounds of slavering creatures finally moved away. Abandoning the closet allowed them to move quietly. Eventually they heard a pair of voices, and following the sound they came to a greenhouse where a pair of familiar faces dwelt.

"Cindy? Stephanie?"

"Michelle!" Stephanie shouted as they embraced. "You found Rachel!"

"Yeah, but she isn't speaking." They both looked at Rachel who turned even more pale than she had been a moment ago. Her gaze was firmly locked on Cindy, whose dead-pan, fish-eye, gaze gave them no clues.

"What happened to your arm?" Stephanie finally asked and Michelle took a worried breath.

"Tara."

"Tara did that?"

"I know... it doesn't seem possible."

"But it is," Cindy said as she passed by the overhanging foliage to be near them, "let me see." Taking Michelle's arm, the expressionless girl turned it this way then that. "Hmmm... I give you an hour at most."

"Until what?" Stephanie asked as Cindy reached into her purse and withdrew a first-aid kit.

"An hour..." Michelle said softly. "Is Tara infected with something? Did she give it to me? Do I have rabies?"

"Yes... yes... and no," Cindy said flatly. "The wolf-beasts in the courtyard are lycanthops. They bit Tara and gave her Lycanthrope, she then bit you."

"Lycanthrope," Stephanie repeated, "like... the werewolf disease?"

"That crude definition is unfortunately accurate," Cindy continued as she padded up the blood then took a small glass vial and pressed it firmly into the wound, drawing blood. "Hold still," she said, and Michelle gave a small squeak of pain.

"What are you doing?" Stephanie nearly screamed.

"I am collecting a sample," Cindy told her as she gathered a larger patch-style bandage out of her kit.

"Why do you need a sample?" Michelle asked as she allowed the girl to patch her up.

"For science," Stephanie said softly and the tiny girl nodded.

"What do we... what do we do?" Michelle asked as panic nipped at her.

"I have instructions for each of you, if you are interested," Cindy offered and the others simply nodded and waited. "Rachel, needs to walk back to the road. The spray she received earlier will protect her from harm. Stephanie, needs to go down that hallway to the tower where Molly was moved to. I am certain you can find your way out from there."

"What about Michelle?" Stephanie whined.

"Michelle, must go to her sister."

"What?"

"There is no cure for Lycanthrope," Cindy told her, "but you will be well cared for by the pack."

"No..." Stephanie said as she began to tear up.

"Steph," Michelle finally said as she felt the wounds burning, "you need to go get Molly. You need to keep her safe." Stephanie threw her arms around her friend and squeezed her tightly. Michelle was surprised to find that she was incredibly calm. Accepting her fate seemed less horrible than the horrific death she feared earlier. "What about you?" she finally asked Cindy.

"I must go to the Doctor's office and continue my research." Cindy then packed up her things and moved toward the hall.

"Wait," Stephanie gasped. "That's it? You're just leaving us!"

"I am sorry, Stephanie," Cindy said without turning to look at her. "There is shelter for only you at the doctor's laboratory. Michelle is too dangerous to be let inside and Rachel wore out her welcome with her petty ways. You have to make a choice. If you choose to come with me then the doctor will protect you from harm. If you choose to go to Molly, though, then you must go down the hall and let yourself into the blue door with the six point star over it."

"That's it?"

"That is all. Good-bye."

Then she was gone. The others all looked at each other and Stephanie scoffed.

"Well, that was creepy. Shall we go save Molly?"

"Fuck Molly!" Rachel suddenly shouted as she spat on the floor. "Fuck both of you... and especially her!" she said as she glared after Cindy. "I'm not sticking around for another moment in this place!" Stomping across the room, she flung open the door and found herself staring a large demon in the eye. A horrified scream filled the room...
