"What does that tattoo means?" asked Alex to break the awkward silence that had formed.
"It allows me to practice alchemy without having to draw transmutation symbols"
Ulrich noticed the confusion in the bear's face.
"It's a bit complicated, in order for alchemy to work, one must draw certain symbols on the ground. With this tattoo, I don't have need for those symbols"
They heard a cracking noise outside the cave.
Probably a loose rock" said Ulrich.
The wolf that had caused the noise remained motionless. All 12 of them had surrounded the cave. They were communicating by signals. The leader stood next to the entrance, he was planning to kill them with a single movement. He focused and invoked the power of the essence of the circle of Ground, but nothing happened. The wolf rose his arms and focused harder, but it was the same result.
"What's the matter Dunn? Can't cast a simple ground spell?" said a mocking voice and a lion with black mane appeared behind a tree.
"Koga!" exclaimed the wolf "What are you doing here?"
Ulrich and the others left the cave immediately and found themselves surrounded by the wolves and the lion.
"Who are you?" asked Leomon unsheathing his sword.
"They are trackers of the New Dawn" said Koga "Their mission is to locate and capture the essence of the circle of water... and to kill you"
"it won't be that easy" said Alex taking a fighting position.
All twelve wolves unsheathed their swords.
"Nobody move!" screamed Koga "Lord Seth has personally ordered me to kill you and take the essence"
The lion started walking towards Ulrich and the rest and the wolves regrouped behind him.
"Now you're lost" said Dunn "Koga is the stronger warrior of the New Dawn"
The furs prepared for the battle, but before getting to them, the lion unsheathed two swords and turned around, facing the wolves.
"What are you doing?" asked the leader.
"Isn't it obvious? I'm betraying you, stupid"
Before any wolf could react, Koga jumped towards them and with a single swing of his swords killed three of them, the nine remaining wolves surrounded him immediately, the lion moved with an unimaginable speed, he quickly shoved his two swords on the wolves at his sides, then took the sword of the wolf behind him with his right claw and thrust it into the one in front of him. With his left claw, he took the dying wolf's arm and made him sink his sword into another of his comrades, he retrieved his swords and disposed of the remaining five wolves in a flash, then he kneeled to clean his swords in the clothes of one of the bodies.
"who the hell are you?" asked Ulrich when he came out of his stupor"
"I think it would be clear by now" said the lion "My name is Koga, I'm one of the generals of the New Dawn, sent by Lord Seth to kill you"
"Then, Why are you helping us?" asked Crocodyne.
"Because my loyalty to the New Dawn has been a lie since the beginning" said Koga checking the bodies of the dead wolves "A long time ago, before the New Dawn had this much power, lord Seth murdered my entire family, ever since I've followed every step he takes, waiting for the right moment to take revenge, I have witnessed the most horrendous crimes you could imagine, I have even been a part of them, all to gain Seth's trust"
"why should we believe you?" asked Alex.
"I don't expect you to believe me" said the lion "I just want you to know I'll do everything I can to destroy the New Dawn"

"Wait. Where are you going?" asked Alex.
"I'm sure right now you're going to seek for the essence of the circle of water, you can do that without my help, there are still others looking for you, I'll take care of them and then I'll meet with you to lead you to the place where the tower of the circle of fire is"
"You know where it is?" asked Crocodyne.
"I've always known, but I had to keep it a secret from lord Seth. When the time comes... we'll meet again"

"Now you just have to return to Gadar" said Javo "The road to the tower of the circle of wind is at the base of the mountain"
"Kimahri thought Javo was going to come with us" said the ronso.

The sun made Ulrich's reddish body fur seem like he was surrounded by a fiery aura. They were about to reach the other end of the clearing and continue to the forest again.

"It's not far now" said Leomon "I can see a waterfall in the distance, according to Abel, Gabriel's cabin should be near it"
"Who's Gabriel?" asked Ulrich
"He is a member of the circle of fire, he has the essence of the circle of water"
"I'm feeling something strange" said Ulrich the earth around here is different"
As soon as he said that, the earth started trembling, they stopped a few steps before reaching the forest, the ground started to lift right in front of them and they all got their weapons ready. A huge earth worm came out of the ground and immediately charged towards the group of furs, the monster opened its mouth uncovering 15 rows of sharp fangs. Alex threw his spear at it, but the weapon just bounced from the animal's tough hide.
"Run!" yelled the bear.

The roo focused and tried to tried to extract metal from the rocks around. That's when he realized, there was not a single rock around, or any other metal source. Crocodyne tried an attack, but the result was the same, his axe bounced on the worm's body. The situation was turning desperate. "You must have spent lots of energy to bring us here" said Dante "Eat and have some rest, Kimahri and I will look for a good road"

They walked for almost a mile when the road stopped abruptly, there were nothing but big rock ahead. Dante touched his bracelet and the map hologram appeared, there was a tiny green spot on the top of the mountain.
"I guess any road will be good as long as it goes up" said Dante.
"Daniel will need to rest for at least one more hour" said Kimahri.
They both returned and found Daniel soundly asleep.
"I think we should let him rest" said Dante taking a bottle with honey "Besides, I'm thinking of something we can do while we wait"

"Drink this, it will make you sleep for three hours, but you'll be as good as new when you wake up"

"What's going on?" asked Crocodyne.
"you have the essence of the circle of ground" said Gabriel "I felt it before seeing you, the sphere is responding to it"
Leomon pulled from his pocket the brown sphere that contains the essence of the circle of ground and it started shining just like the other one. Both pearls abandoned Leomon's and Gabriel's hands and meet halfway, they seemed to melt together until finally a single pearl fell to the ground, it was blue with a few brown lines. Leomon, Alex and Crocodyne felt a tingling sensation all over their bodies.
"What's happening to us?" asked Leomon.
"Your powers are increasing" said Gabriel.
The tingling stopped and Crocodyne walked to the river, as soon as he entered it he noticed the changes. He now could feel every water molecule that touched his body, he could even sense the movements of the fishes in the river. The crocodile took his axe and unloaded a powerful hit in the river, a burst of wind cut the water making the bottom of the river visible for the next 300 feet.

"Now you must go to the towers of the circle of wind and fire"
"Some friends are already on their way to the tower of the circle of wind"
"then you must go to the other one, but I suggest you to wait a little, you need to rest and your friend could be of great help once he is recovered"
"I think you're right" said Leomon "a night on a real bed would be nice"
"Before anything, I really need a shower" said Alex.
"You ca stay in the river" said Gabriel "I must go to the forest to get some wood"
"I'll go with you" said Crocodyne "I'm really not that tired"
Crocodyne and Gabriel entered the forest while Alex and Leomon stripped and went to the river.
Daniel finally awoke and looked for his friends, Dante and Kimahri were sitting a few feet away, the blue feline was sleeping with his arms crossed and the wolf was checking a hologram of a map.
"How long was I out?" asked the cougar.
"Nearly two hours" said Dante "Are you ready to continue? I thing I found a way to the top"
Kimahri got up and took the bag with provisions.
"where?"
"There's a cave system not far from here, some of the passages can take us there"
"Seems dangerous" said Daniel "We could get lost"
"Remember what this is" said Dante activating his bracelet.
The hologram of the map reappeared, there was a rout marked in red through the cave maze, the location of Kimahri and the others was shown as green dots.
"Let's go then" said Daniel.
The entrance to the cave was huge and resembles a monster's mouth. Dante took a crystal he was carrying and placed it on the end of Kimahri's spear, then ignited it with a spell.
"If we find an enemy, just drop the crystal" he said.
They were surrounded by a strong humid scent, they managed to walk a few feet before finding the first monster, it was a jelly monster that looked like a mushroom.
"this one's mine!" said Dante and leaped towards the monster.
"Dante, Wait!" screamed Daniel.
Dante's sword made a deep cut on the monster's body, the wound started releasing spores all over the place.
Daniel dropped his weapons and clasped his hands together, before the spores could spread, the cougar cast a fireball and threw it at the monster, burning the air around it.
"That was a Funrom" said Daniel "each time it receives a physical attack it releases poisonous spores, you can only attack them with magic... you might want to check your bracelets to know what kinds of monsters we'll find here"
Kimahri and Dante touched their devices and the information about the different species of monsters appeared before them.

The tree fell from a single hit from Crocodyne's axe.
"Impressive" said Crocodyne "that was easier than I thought"
"ok, now I want you to cut it to shards in 5 seconds" said Gabriel.
"What? That's impossible!"
"Are you sure? Give me your axe"
