The Empty Sea - a memorial for Athus

?"Hey there..." A voice called out from the calm silence of the night air. A lone, four-winged dragon had just touched down on the sands of the beach, the sand running through his claws as he approached the ocean.

He sat down on his hind quarters as he gazed silently at the sea, the only sound that could be heard was the gentle crashing of waves against the sandy shores.

"Looks like I got here a bit too late..." He told himself as he just sat there.

It was only recently that the black chaos dragon had made contact with the gentle seadragon. They both had a common friend, but aside from that, they didn't know each other, nor did they have the chance to properly meet up. The four-winged beast promised himself that this night, he'd meet up with him and get to know him properly.

Then he heard the news - the young dragon had been caught in an accident that sadly took his life. As much as he didn't want to believe it, he tried to ignore it, knowing that it wouldn't be an easy task to kill a majestic creature that easily.

Sadly though, it was all true.

"I promised that we'd meet up tonight...go for a swim...maybe feed on some farm animals and seafood..." He muttered, as still as anything. "I guess that won't happen now..." He bowed his head a little bit, still gazing at the sea.

For anyone who had seen Wyraach right now, they would have thought that they were seeing things, or at least having a weird dream... but in that moment, a single tear rolled down his scaly cheek, followed by another...those single tears turned into a steady stream as he began to sob.

"Look at me... I'm crying over someone I don't even know..." He tried to chuckle, but the pain was all too real. It was obvious how the seadragon's presence had shone a light on his life, even if their friendship was cut short by cruel fate.

"Athus..." He purred sadly before throwing his head back, letting loose a low, sorrowful roar, the sound of which carried through the moonlit sky, causing the gently waters to ripple. The tears continued to fall, turning into gemstones as they hit the sand.

"You're in a much better place now... One day soon... we'll meet up on the other side... then we'll have all the time in the world to get to know each other... Rest well... my friend."

Rest in Peace, Athus. You'll always be remembered by everyone here on FA. We'll meet up one day.
