Moss lumbered to his door and fumbled with his key-card. He wasn't drunk, but he was slightly buzzed. Finding it difficult to slide it through the reader. He succeeded after a couple of attempts and pushed his door open and made his way to his bedroom, giving a passing glance to the couch to make sure the Pokemon were home. He did a quick double take.

"Teya was a Charmander, right?" He whispered to himself. She was now a Charmeleon. Implications swirled through his mind as he shook his head and continued on to his room. Leaving her and Qagan to their rest. He had his own problems to focus on. Qagan was capable of minding his own business. As he made his way into his bed he made a quick stop at his computer. The files had been moved completely to his flash drive. Isis would have to look over them in the morning. He walked to his bed and fell onto it. Placed his glasses on the nightstand and quickly fell to sleep with his work clothes on.

He awoke to the sound of his blaring alarm clock and switched it off lazily.

"Damn it..." He cursed under his breath.

The morning grogginess caused him to stumble. He fiddled with the door nob and walked silently into the restroom where he readied for a shower. He carefully cleaned himself for several minutes before stepping from the tub and drying himself off. He wrapped the towel around himself and threw his old clothes in the hamper. There was noise coming from the kitchen as he made his way back to his room.

He checked the contents of his closet and changed into a formal suit. He would have to please the council today, otherwise his takeover would be unpleasant. He pulled his tie closed and grabbed the flash drive. Voices could be heard in the house, sounded like just Teya and Qagan. Once Moss opened the door the smell of a good breakfast assaulted his nose. Qagan was working diligently in the kitchen. Teya was sitting at the table with a smile and a healthy glow. He had never seen Qagan so perky in the morning before, making the obvious, all the more obvious.

"Its been awhile since I've seen you cook breakfast." He said with a sarcastic smile.

Qagan shrugged. "Well, Teya was hungry. She deserves a good breakfast." He replied simply, continuing his tasks.

Moss went to the fridge and pulled out some orange juice. "So... how was last night?" Moss didn't speak but thought to Qagan. Anyone with knowledge of the Aura could do so with some concentration. You could send and receive messages telepathically.

Qagan let out a single chuckle. "What makes you think I would tell you?" He thought back.

Moss poured some of the juice into three glasses and put the carton back in the fridge. "I didn't expect you to go into detail. Is it serious?" He grabbed two of the glasses and walked to the table. He set a glass in front of Teya with a smile and took his seat across the table.

"Yes it is. I love her."

Moss nodded in approval. "Good! I'm glad to hear it." He noticed Teya was giving him an odd look.

"How are you doing today, Teya?" He asked kindly.

Teya smiled sweetly. "I'm doing very well this morning! I'm just really hungry." Her voice was more refined now than it was yesterday. Pokemon always matured rather suddenly, but never without reason.

"Well, if there's one thing we have plenty of, it's food." He laughed. "It's been forever since I've had one of his famous breakfasts. There's certain spices he uses, but he never tells me his secrets." He mocked a frown.

Qagan just shook his head and continued with his work.

"How was your sleep?" Teya asked Moss.

"Well enough. Quiet and dark, no dreams to be had I suppose." He took a swig from his glass. "What about you, how was your sleep?"

"My dreams were sweet." She said with a innocent grin.

"So I see." He said with a friendly smile. "You look good." She flushed at the compliment.

Qagan was finishing up with the breakfast and piling it onto three separate plates. "She is beautiful!" He chimed

Teya's face reddened more.

He finished piling the food on the plates and managed to carry them all, plus his glass of juice, skillfully to the table. Placing one in front of each of them. He sat next to Teya and kissed her on the cheek, and immediately started to eat the food. Teya returned the kiss and delicately worked with her utensils, which she seemed to have an easier time with now that she had digits.

"Thank you for breakfast." She said as she took her first bite.

"Any time." He said with a smile.

Moss stayed silent but eyed the two Pokemon curiously. He shook his head and began to dig into his plate. Pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, and hash browns. All seasoned to perfection.

As they were eating a question sprung into Qagan's mind. "So what are you working on today?" He asked.

Moss was shoveling the food into his mouth, he missed dinner the night before and almost had forgotten how hungry he was until he started eating. He chewed and swallowed his mouthful.

"I have an official job as the head of the Pokemon Government Project. I have to announce it to the council today. If the whole thing doesn't collapse right there I plan to be partners with Isis in leading them." He continued to eat his breakfast nonchalantly.

Qagan was silent and looked at Moss curiously. "They won't appreciate that. They have a hard enough time being within the limits of this town. Keldan tries their patience."

"I understand this, but I think it will be for the better. I just have to show that I'm willing to work with them, not against them."

"You think that will make a difference?"

"It'd better. Otherwise this was all for nothing, I will make that exceedingly clear at the meeting. Many of the elders will agree I'm sure. It's the headstrong Leera I'm worried about, she'll be the toughest to convince."

"She gets it from her parents. They've had a grip on the group for a long while. You'll need to get her vote if you want to lock down the rest."

Moss nodded as he took another bite of his breakfast. His plate was the most empty so far. Teya was far behind as she took small bites, still becoming accustomed to her new body.

"Have you decided what you want to do, Teya?" Moss queried.

Teya looked up from her food with a somewhat thoughtful expression. "Qagan has offered his heart to me. I shall live with him." She stated.

"Oh really?" Moss asked. "That's very kind of you Qagan."

"She's my mate, not a beggar." He replied. "I thought you knew I had some standards. She's officially in our family now."

"Alright, calm down. I welcome you into our family, and may you find happiness with us."

"Thank you. I hope to meet more of my new family soon." She said excitedly.

Moss finished his breakfast and took his plate to the sink. "I'm sure you will. Anyway, I'm off to work. I'll see you two later." He made his way to the front door hurriedly and exited the small apartment. Leaving the two Pokemon to themselves. The hallway was once again, eerily silent.

He approached the door of the Pokemon office. The many voices inside indicated that they were ready for the meeting. Moss let out a deep sigh and popped open the door with a weak smile on his lips. All eyes locked on him, and the room died in silence.

"Good morning everyone!" He offered feebly. As he walked to the head of the meeting table where Isis sat with an equally nervous smile.

Some large Pokemon appeared to be furious, including Leera. She was relatively intimidating Serperior, She glared at him with crimson eyes that promised retribution.

"You can't be serious!" A Feraligator said, making his disagreement clear.

"A Human!? This brings shame to all of us!" A Nidoking added.

Moss came to a stop behind Isis and placed a hand on her shoulder. "You should have waited to break the news until I was here." He whispered to her.

"I didn't know when you would get here. I was hoping that when you arrived we would be able to resolve this, poor timing on your part." She replied.

All of the eyes were on the two at the head of the table, much to their discomfort. Most held anger in their looks, some held confusion, a couple held pity.

"This is unacceptable, Isis!" Leera stated. "We chose you to be our leader so you would handle the Human affairs... Differently. Now that we are going to be lead by the Human, what use are you?"

If nothing else you had to appreciate her brutal honesty.

Moss patted Isis on the shoulder and she stepped to the side, he stepped forward. "Glad to hear your as fearless as ever, Leera. As for the rest of you, please keep your questions coming. As we are all keenly aware. This is one of many firsts you have all taken on these past few years."

Most everyone was looking to him with confusion, except a few whom he worked with before.

The Feraligator looked to Isis. "Who is this? He talks like he's one of us." He grumbled.

Isis stepped forward, standing next to Moss. "He has been our delegate with the Humans since we first started. In fact, everything we have accomplished, and even the formation of our government, we owe to him." Shock was visible on most of the faces, even denial.

Leera sneered. "Delegate is a bit official. He's been working without the approval of his leaders for some time. But now that it is to become official, it should concern all of us greatly. The Humans are delving too deep into our affairs." She explained. "He has been a great asset in our business, I'll admit. But who is it he works for now?"

There was a murmur of speculation. All discussing the possibilities of a man standing behind the one who stood before them.

Moss chuckled. "I work for the Professor, and the Professor works for the Jinto Military. We are to be a byproduct of their initial studies. A way to make up for their unforgivable mistakes." He stated. "I would like you all to know that you have no decision in this, I am to be working for you officially. Whether you agree with it or not."

"Working for us? Carefully worded Human, but we can see through your lies." A Zoroark spoke. "I will not let you destroy our work." He said in a threatening voice.

"You think me a liar?" Moss asked. He reached into his pocket as the Pokemon watched him carefully. He removed the small flash-drive and held it up for all to see. Some recognized it, others didn't. "Read the files on this. It's stuff I've worked on for the last several years once this government was set into existence." He tossed it and it slid to the center of the table, all eyes followed it. "The dates are all on there, and there's no way I could have written those since yesterday. That's when I found out I was to be in charge."

Leera eyed him suspiciously. "Are we supposed to believe this isn't one of the Human's intricate plans. They take advantage of us and our work every chance they get."

"While I can't deny that Humans like myself are crafty and devious at times. I hope my history with some of you will be enough to convince your comrades." He said simply. "But first I would like to make an announcement, and my first order of acting President of you fine peoples. I declare Isis, your chosen leader, my equal in all decision making!"

This sent a shock wave through the room, not one of anger but one of disbelief.

Isis was not as surprised as the rest of the Pokemon. Leera watched her carefully, trying to read her expression. She couldn't read it, and that made her suspicious. She kept it to herself.

"I accept my previous position with great happiness." She said sarcastically. "You can all rest assured that this newest occurrence will not change our ultimate goal. I for one am glad to have Moss helping us. His opinion has always been appreciated and shall be even more so now. Anyone who doubts his intentions may take the plans and look it over themselves."

Moss saw a glimmer in Leera's eyes. "I would like to speak to him privately. I need to discuss some matters that will sway my opinion." She said.

Isis nodded as the Nidoking grabbed the flash-drive on the table and inspected it. "I will look into these files. Anyone who wishes to do the same is welcome to look into them with me." He stated.

"Very well, we will all meet back here in 3 hours to make our final decisions. Moss being in charge is not the question however, for that has already been decided. What we need to decide is how many of us are willing to stay and continue on to our goal, and how many wish to leave our company. Good luck everyone." Isis said absolutely. Her charisma was quite something.

With that all of them dispersed to separate rooms to discuss their options and eat a decent lunch. Leera however, escorted Moss to her living quarters. The door opened and released a lovely fragrance of blooming flowers and exotic plants. He had never been in such a beautiful room. It was so large and spacious, mostly to make moving about easier for the relatively large Pokemon that inhabited it.

Leera turned to him and watched him with her unrelenting crimson eyes. "Your superiors must think us fools!" She snapped. "They have crossed to many lines already and they seek to yet cross more? I do not believe this transition entirely pure, and I know you think the same."

"I trust Keldan in all of his decisions, and you should too. I can think of few others who would even consider doing what he has already let you do." He replied coolly.

"Do you trust him with your life? That is what you ask us to do." She slithered slowly around him, eying him carefully for any tells. She released some pheromones to confuse him and make him sleepy. It showed almost immediately, his eyes appeared be unfocused and half closed. "What is it they really plan on doing? Our very way of life is threatened by your intervention." She said in a soothing voice.

He smiled. "Come now, Leera. You should know I won't fall for that." He chided, waving the air in front of his face. Letting her know that he wasn't impressed. "If you want the truth so badly, I'll tell it to you." He looked her dead in the eye. "No. I don't trust them and I never have. It's always double crossing in Human governments. Liars and cheats who'll rob you blind. Yet they are a necessary evil, they keep us decent people when we lose ourselves. Be it to greed or rage. In the end... All I can do is hope that my work will bring more honesty to a corrupt and inept system we have now. We need the Pokemon to rise and demand rights more than ever. Our race is breaking down itself, the only thing we need is a touch of purity, those free of the greed that locks us in fear. Fear that we will lose everything if we take one more risk."

Leera was taken aback. Such brutal honesty that she didn't expect had slammed into her. This Human matched her thoughts with his words. He was not blind, he saw all to well what plagued his leaders and comrades, fear.

"They fear your freedom that you demand. So keep demanding it. They fear that you challenge their power. So make them accept that challenge. Don't get me wrong, I do this for my species as much as yours. Pokemon have the power to bring a new view of the world, and there's nothing we Humans fear more than that." He explained. "All we have to do is make them see it."

She looked at him incredulously. "Is that truly what you believe?" She asked.

"Without a doubt in my mind." He said. "Humans thrive on conflict, and Pokemon have enough power to challenge us. I'm not talking full scale war. I'm saying you need to challenge our ideas, beliefs, and even our thoughts. Pokemon have much to gain from us as well, but I'll let you decide what you think is the best we can offer you."

This was heavy. Moss had matched her ideas completely, top to bottom. She was silent for several minutes as their eyes were locked on to each other.

"I believe you have much to offer us. I must say that I'm surprised to hear the truth from you. I'm so tired of the lies some have been feeding us." She paused for a moment in contemplation. "I offer my full support of your leadership." She finally said.

He nodded in thanks and sat down. The pheromones were getting to him.

"Sorry about that. I find it's easier to squeeze the truth from someone who's not focused." She giggled at his inability to stand. "I have a plant that should negate the effects." She looked around until she spotted a plant with reddish yellow leaves. She plucked a single leaf from it delicately and carried it to him in her mouth. It fluttered down into his lap. "Chew on it and you should feel better in a jiff." She said with a friendly smile.

He picked it up and took a small bite from it. It was extraordinarily sour. He chewed on it a few times as his face twisted in agony from the pain. He certainly didn't have a problem staying awake and focused now. "Thanks..." He managed with a small sputter.

"Any time." She laughed.
