#2 of Kyo/Haiku tales

"Hey Kyo..."

"Who is this?"

"Dawn."

"Dawn?" He blinked. "Wait... Dawn? What're you doing... calling me at three in the morning?" The coyote rolled over, hushing his voice. The feline on the other side of the bed stirred.

"I came back into town, my flight just got in. I was calling you for old times' sake. Maybe we can... hang out while I'm around?" His breath caught in his throat and suddenly he felt as if he were being watched, as if someone was observing him do a terrible thing.

"Yeah yeah, I'm kinda wiped right now but I'll catch you I dunno, tomorrow I guess."

"Good... See ya Kyo."

The phone clicked and he closed it, his eyes closing. Why was he feeling such dread already, he wasn't doing anything. He rolled onto his back. Haiku was still sleeping fortunately. Dawn was his ex. Exes shouldn't be calling at three o' clock in the morning. Of course Dawn didn't know he was with Haiku but that was perfectly fine, as long as he made sure to tell her he was pretty sure she would keep her paws to herself. He thought that because Dawn had probably been one of the most... active in bed out of anyone else he'd ever been with.

He sighed. Why was he even hanging out with her? He didn't have any reason not to. The coyote rolled over, snuggling into the side of the angora, placing a kiss on her cheek. If Haiku didn't meet her there wouldn't be an awkward moment at least. And it wasn't like Dawn would be in town forever, right?

~*~

"Kyo. Haven't seen you in a while." The coyote looked over to the hare who'd greeted him, giving a nod. White fur but for his black eartips, they matched fairly well. The hare wore a pair of red shorts, the kind boxers wore which made sense, he was a lightweight boxer now after all.

"Heh, haven't had reason to go to the gym in a while."

"Still don't bud, you look like you've kept in shape." Baxter (for that was his name) arched a brow. "Not like you're fat or anything."

"Nah but I've just had reasons for getting out some aggression." He gave a wry smile and finished unwrapping his paws. He was shirtless at the moment but he always worked out in a pair of jeans and ankle-weights. He lifted his footpaw to rest on the bench in the locker room, proceeding to take the weight off before he repeated the process with his opposite leg.

"Oh, I thought your old ex made you stop fighting."

"I haven't gotten into a fight..." Kyo said softly, keeping his gaze on his duffel bag as he dumped his things inside. In went a jumping rope too. "Yet." The canine put on a vest, leaving his chest bare but for, that, then turned, giving his friend a pat on the shoulder. "I'll probably see you tomorrow if you're around. We can have a match."

"I'll be around." Baxter replied. "You okay?"

"Not really." Kyo laughed, walking off.

Outside the gym it was cool. Fall was quick in approaching, bringing wind that chilled. He would have shivered but his blood was pumping too hard for him to feel it, his body was probably ten degrees hotter than it should have been. His knuckles still ached from pounding that sandbag but he wanted more. When he was like this he craved violence, the goodness it brought him to slam something into something else. It was a wonder why he hadn't been a boxer like his friend but it was easily found why if one just asked him. "I don't like getting hit in the face." He would have said. If he had a watch the coyote would have seen it was around eight o' clock, meaning it was about time for him to be at the coffee shop he'd said he'd meet dawn at.

Fortunately it was around the corner really, far from Haiku's regularly visited coffee shop of course, he didn't need her seeing him speaking to someone else female casually. Again, he wasn't going with the intention of doing anything wrong but his instincts begged him to cover his tracks. Sighing, the coyote turned and walked down the sidewalk, navigating the few blocks between the gym and coffee shop. It was on the rougher side of town and a grey sky covered the city. Gloomy clouds hovered overhead, the coyote stopping to look up at them before he stepped in the shop.

It was a small place and it was abandoned but for those working there. He looked over and -oh, there she was.

Dawn sat at a table, her purse resting on it, looking just as she did when she had left a year and some months before. Maybe even a little better. He walked over to the hyena with a smile and she rose, suddenly breaking the small distance between them with a lunge and a hug with their bodies met. "I -missed- you." Her words were followed by a warm squeeze and he couldn't help but smile, wrapping his arms around her to hug in return.

"Missed you too." He replied.

She didn't let go as quick as he though and gave him another squeeze, then went so far as to turn her head and sniff at his neck, inhaling his rich masculine scent. "Mm... you've been doing well. Haven't you?" The hyena loosened her grip and he took that as his chance to escape, settling down in the seat across from her purse, letting his bag drop from his shoulder.

"I've managed."

"See you're still in shape, a very nice one." She smiled at him with dark eyes, winking before she allowed herself to tilt her head to the side. She actually was fairly curvy, not his type to be honest. Of course she was a model after all but he didn't know what when he'd first been dating her. It had been something he'd bragged about later on though. She strode over with sculpted hips to sit opposite him, the 'yote feeling a brush of her footpaw against his legs when she crossed hers.

"I could say the same of you." He nodded.

She raised a cup of coffee he hadn't noticed before and sipped from it. "Oh you know, healthy diet, exercise. That stuff. Actually.." She looked in her purse and brought out a small envelope. "There are photos in there so you can see exactly how nice of a shape I've stayed in." She slid it across the table, forward as always, a smile in her eyes.

He lifted it and tossed it in his duffel bag. "I'll be sure to check them out."

"Oh, I know they'll pale in comparison after you've had the real thing under you again but they'll do until I come back in town again." If he'd had coffee in his mouth he would have spat no doubt. Fortunately he didn't so he managed to keep a look of composure about him, simply staring back at her.

"Actually I have a girlfriend so... I don't do stuff with anyone else."

"Oh?"

"Yeah, her name's Haiku. We've been dating for... three months now." He nodded a bit before someone came over and interrupted. They asked for his order and he asked for tea if they had it, which they did. Lucky him.

He turned back to face her, not quite liking the look in her eyes. "Three months... oh, you poor thing, I know how much you don't like being tamed. Haiku you say? I do think I've heard the name before."

"You have?"

"Oh yes! I remember. My magazine did an interview with three of the girls from that quaint little shop you loved to hang at so much and she was one. Ooh, if I do remember right she was quite fat. Has she lost some weight in the time between then and now?"

His brows lowered slightly and his fangs were barely visible. "I'd appreciate it if you didn't call her fat. She's not fat. Call her that again and you won't have the pleasure of my company, you understand?"

"Oh yes, yes." She replied absent-mindedly reaching across the table to pet his paws. He pulled them away and she ignored his action, smiling at him brightly. "Oh but do I remember right? I think one of them was a hyena... she was rather... well not fat." A playful smile. "And a cat... and a bat, she was very thin, she certainly could have been a model if it wasn't for her odd choice in colors."

"That would be Shakarri, Haiku, and Razzle. In that order." He closed his eyes. The first and last of that trio had helped him when he dyed his fur way back when he'd first talked to Haiku. Razzle (who he'd dated at the time) was responsible for the paw print right over his groin and Shakarri had given him one of the ones on his butt, kudos of a firm spank. She had done it more for the yelp he gave when she did it than the actual contact, she was a lesbian after all.

"Mmhm. Your taste in women has changed quite a bit hasn't it? Didn't you date Lily at some point? I recall her mentioning that you had a girlfriend now that I think about it... but she said she cheated on you?"

Kyo groaned. "Yeah, I dated her and I'm glad my type has changed from -her- kind. Don't listen to a thing she says about Haiku, she's just jealous she can't fuck me."

The fur from before brought his tea and he paid them with a five, telling them to keep the change. After finding out that he actually hadn't paid enough he dished out another single and grumbled something about crack-laced tea. "I'm surprised she can't. After all she could while you were with me."

He winced at the shot.

"I've learned from my mistakes. I'm not cheating on Haiku, I love her." He stared at Dawn before he raised his cup to his lips, sipping from it. The tea was good, just not worth five forty-eight.

"Mmm..." Was her reply. "Did you ever get that job at the strip club I referred you to?"

"Yeah actually but I decided to quit. Too many... things happened. I work at a skate rink now. Getting a job at a radio station soon."

She chuckled softly. "You always were a jack of all trades, weren't you? Had a job at a book store when I first met you." She set her empty cup on the table and uncrossed her legs, he knew because her footpaw brushed his leg again.

"I like trying my share of everything if I can." A shrug.

"Something you apply to love and recreation, hmm?" Was she giving him a jab about his period of drug usage or his womanizing habits? Either way it was a jab.

He looked to the side, out the tinted window. "So you travel a lot. I suppose you've found a new boyfriend?"

"Oh several but none quite so good as you. Though I did have one he did get a little -grabby- after a while."

"You're flattering me."

"Well I there's nothing wrong with that, is there? If so I would think this Haiku of yours has you rather well-tamed."

"I'm not tamed."

"If you say so," She suddenly rose from her seat and he took another sip of tea. "I have an early morning shoot. You can come see me at Rosebud Studios, just tell them I sent you, they should let you in. I'll be there for the day just about. And... why don't you give those pictures a look and tell me if you reconsider your loyalty to your cat."

"Yeah. I'll just not and skip to it. I'm not cheating on Haiku, Dawn. I'll catch you later if you wanna be cool then."

Dawn chuckled to herself and flipped her raven-colored hair, letting it cascade down her back, her locks curling and bouncing beautifully. It was almost impressive, she was a model; she knew how to use her looks to get what she wanted. His face didn't change to his knowing but from the smirk that appeared on her face he wondered if it had. "See you later Kyo. It's just up to you how later, later is." And with that she walked out of the shop. He heard a car outside and sipped from his tea, resting there.

"Goddamn crack-prices."

"How was the gym?" Haiku asked when he got back. She wasn't wearing anything, her fur was still damp to the touch so he knew she'd just bathed. His body pressed to her own and he gave her hips a grab, sliding up to gently pinch love handles he absolutely adored.

"Tiring." He said over her giggle. He wiggled a little against her and she squirmed, gently pushing him away.

"Eeee, you're gonna get me all sweat-covered you dirty 'yote."

"Just means you'll have to take another shower." He replied, pushing back against her, brows furrowing. "Which is convenient 'cause I happen t' need one too."

The angora pouted at him, nipping at his bottom lip. She stood on her toes to do so, though she could have just tilted her head back a bit, and furrowed her brows in mock determination. "I can't, I'm gonna be late for work if I play."

"Oh, you are? And you know I -hate- to make you late." With that he gave a push of his hips, bumping her so she had to fall back on the flats of her footpaws to remain balanced.

"You're so mean!" She exclaimed, unable to help how her eyes dropped to the hem of his jeans as he began to unbutton them. Her gaze continued to go up and down from his eyes to his jeans and the coyote stuck out his tongue before he let them fall, leaving him in his boxers. A roll of his shoulders sent his vest fluttering down to the floor and she turned on a heel, about to take off to the safety of their room. The coyote gave her a second to run, pulling off his boxers but took off a moment too late, the door closing in his face.

"C'mon! Lame!" He tried to turn the knob but found the door locked from the inside. A giggle emanated from the room.

"No way you horny little puppy. You tried that on me two days ago. And the week before that."

"Yeah but it worked then!"

"I can't be late today hun, the local newspaper wants to do a story on us."

He rolled his eyes and crossed his arms, sauntering back to the living room to kick his clothes across the room. "Lame." With that he crashed onto the sofa, laying on his back.

~*~

When Haiku exited their room she was properly dressed in a skirt and a shirt bearing the shop's name, not to mention his hoodie. Of course Kyo hadn't put on any clothes and now sported a healthy, throbbing erection, toying with it idly. A frown curled his lips and he stuck out his tongue at her when she moved closer. Giggling, she kissed his nose. "You keep it just like that and I'll take care of it soon as I get home." She said, knowing full well that he could never do that if he tried, not to mention he had work soon enough as well.

He rolled his eyes and kissed her back. "I'm holding you to that. Or on it. Or whatever."

"You better." A wink and a "byyyyyeeeeeee" and she went out the door. Great. Him with a hard on. Well he could have just gotten rid of it but for some reason he was... tired. Must have been the crack-tea.

A few minutes later the coyote's eyes fluttered and closed.

"Er... I know I've seen it before but Kyo, at least cover yourself up after you're done, you know I do come here every day before work." Jade chuckled softly and he growled to himself, shaking his head.

"Shouldn't have just barged in here then, huh?" He looked around for his boxers, slipping them on a moment later to conceal his slowly descending erection. He grabbed his pants after that and pulled them on, dressing before her, she'd seen him do this before too.

"I barge in every day. I even ran into Haiku on the way up, we had a talk."

He made a face. He hated when females he knew talked, they had an odd tendency to talk about him. Not to mention he was already grumpy from being woken from a short nap. "Oh? Bout what?"

"How she wants a threesome so she can have a decent-sized cock for a change."

"What? Dude, don't even play like that, you even said so yourself that I was.. what'd you say? Oh, 'two mouthfuls and a half'." She blushed at the reference. "Yeah so be quiet."

"No foolin' you. We're gonna be late if you don't hurry up. You know it's an hour and a half long drive."

He nodded and picked up his duffel bag from where he'd deposited it on the floor before, carrying it back to toss in his room. He grabbed a random hoodie, this one had paw prints all over it, this one actually stained with paint, the pawprint of everyone at the tattoo/dye parlor, bearing signatures and other little pictures drawn by the artists with markers and such. Haiku had done a heart around her pawprint, in red.

Kyo slipped on the hoodie as he walked up front and nodded to her. "Alright, let's go."

The skate rink was certainly something different than the other ones in town. It marketed to younger kids and adults, having two floors. The bottom floor was for the younger patrons, it was dark, with a large skate rink in the middle of it where lots of younger furs crowded. Skates were distributed on the far left of the place, off the hardwood floor and a small arcade existed somewhere to the left of that. There was a place for glowsticks and other little luminescent devices right next to the DJ booth where Kyo often worked. Today though, he was working the upper floor, with Jade.

They moved up a set of stairs, past a guard who made sure no one under drinking age entered (despite Kyo's technically being so he worked there), and up a set of stairs. In through a door and they were in a small room. They certainly made sure this place was locked off from the younger kids.

Another guard let them through the door where they went into the adult section. It appeared to be the same size though it was a little larger. Where the lower floor distributed skates there were a few doors where couples could pay to use whatever was in the room. A large rink covered the expanse of the center though and in the middle of that was a small area where couples could skate and not get in the way of the better skaters who occasionally showed up. Kyo didn't want to imagine how much they had to use to keep sound from seeping from upstairs to down and vice versa but this floor had its own DJ booth just to the left of a bar. Jade worked the bar. It wouldn't be opening until eleven but they always asked her to come in early. Not to mention Kyo had to be there early and she didn't mind the trip with him. They were really good friends still.

Kyo worked a short distance from the bar, not the DJ booth, he preferred the lower one actually because it had a lively batch of music, unlike this one which consisted of porn grooves and slow jams. No, he worked at the most adult section of the place, where they sold all sorts of toys and magazines and adult stories. He had actually written more than a few of the stories himself and was paid to do so. That was pretty cool.

The coyote slid behind a glass countertop, nodding to the skunk who was just leaving the DJ booth. The coyote then proceeded to reach beneath the glass countertop and grab a magazine and a glowing neon dildo. He flopped in a chair and opened up to the first page of one of his stories, reading by dildo-light.

Oddly enough, Dan, who worked at the same parlor as Haiku, was reading the same story. "Mmf! Haiku, your boyfriend writes -really- well." He placed a paw on his hip, looking over to her, the angora working on a tattoo for a female dragon that covered the last blank spot left on her tail, just at the base. "I wish my boyfriend wrote things about me."

"Oh you shush, he doesn't write about me." She replied absentmindedly, pressing the needle down to trace little circles and arcs, this was a complicated one.

"You -know- he does." Dan said with that extra flamboyance added to his tone that probably would have branded him gay even if he wasn't. The fox shook his head. "Mmmm... I wonder if he writes all of these based off experience. You have read all his works, haven't you?"

She shook her head. Dan had a habit of talking while she was busy and he wasn't. That was fine by her, she didn't mind. She did mind when he eyed her boyfriend.

He gasped as if shocked. "How can't you have? They're so ensnaring and he does them in all sorts of time periods and fantasy worlds. He did one about a fox and an otter that I loved." He clasped his paws together. Sometimes Dan could be so gay it was odd. She wondered if gay people found that annoying and continued on.

"Oh.. I think I know who you're talking about." Said the golden-scaled dragoness, turning her head to face the fox. She lay down, her head resting on her crossed arms.

Her tail moved a bit. "Stay still." Haiku reminded her and she did.

"Kyo... Redpaws, Redpawed?"

"Redpawed." Haiku and Dan said at the same time. It was just his pen name but for some reason everyone but Haiku thought it was actually his last name. He'd thought about getting it added to his name legally but Haiku had put her footpaw down on that, just like she had that time he'd "thought about" (meaning he was about to go out and do it) getting his fur dyed plaid. No way she was sleeping with a plaid coyote. Oh, the headaches at the thought alone!

"I hear a magazine did an interview with him recently. Yup, and he put a picture of himself up for submission. I also hear he's cute. You must be lucky Haiku."

The dragoness had been here enough times to catch Haiku's name, more than enough. "Mmm you gotta watch out for the cute ones though. He tried to make me late today. I had to lock the bedroom door to keep him from barging in."

"Awwww..." Said Dan. "I would let him make me late every day of the week."

"I'm sure you would. Done." She said to the dragoness. "But then you'd be out of a job." The dragoness rose and gave a few testing sweeps of her tail before she scooted off the table. The rest of the shop had cleared out for lunch at a place just down the street. Haiku would have been able to go at the same time if Dan hadn't held her up with his commentary.

"Let's go eat." Dan said suddenly, grasping the feline's paw as she just finished putting her tools back.

"Oh, here." The dragoness grasped her other paw, slipping a bill into it. "A tip for a good job, you're my favorite artist here." She smiled a bit, then walked out, having paid the actual bill some time before.

Haiku managed to lock up the shop before Dan dragged her down the street and out to lunch.

All the nearby (And some of the farther) restaurants offered discounts to the girls at the parlor because of their frequent visits. When one said girls at the parlor they were often generalizing, there were a few males who worked there. The parlor had twenty-four employees in it total (around fifteen worked at a time unless it was a very busy day), out of which four were male, two of them bi, one straight, and Dan of course. So males certainly were the minority.

Mexican was the decision today, the waitress in the restaurant recognized the both of them and led them back to where the rest of the group was. Haiku went and sat at the empty spot offered by her closer friends there. "So what'd you order us Hazel?" She asked the wolf, knowing she'd have ordered for her.

"Plate of quesadillas and nachos." Was her reply, the wolf taking a sip of her sweet tea. Haiku nodded a bit before she proceeded to drink the suntea Hazel had also ordered. She knew her too well.

"Sounds good, can't wait to eat."

~*~

Kyo sighed. Fighting always got him in a reverent mood after. Well after everything else at least. First there was the rush of fighting, he loved that feeling. Then there was the -good- feeling after he beat someone down, something that overwhelmed every other injury he may have gained. Then there was the disappointment after he realized he couldn't fight any more, that it was over so soon. The urge to slam his fists into everyone near him just to continue fighting. A feeling of calm, judging the damage he had done, planning his words and next actions. Then the final state he was in right then. Unfortunately this was also the last and longest stage.

But that felt good. Much better than the sandbag, and he sure didn't regret it. The coyote eyed his knuckles, bloody and busted though most of the blood on his paws didn't belong to him. It hardly ever did. He was surprised he'd gotten hit so much, but it had been a while since he'd fought last.

Just... suddenly he and someone were exchanging words and... that first blow was thrown and Kyo had been acting on reflex and instinct from there on.

~*~

"Hey man, you're the guy who writes the porn in the magazines, right?" Kyo turned around to face the speaker. He and Jade had been sitting at a burger king the two of them frequented, another co-worker, Lance, the DJ happened to be with them but in the bathroom.

"Heh, I prefer smut but yeah, you could say that." He offered a wry smile, already not liking the fisher who'd addressed him.

"Yeahyeahyeah. I hear ya bud. Listen man, I got a request 'cause like, I got some ideas you might like. I'm Scott." He began fishing in his pocket and the yote's ears twitched, hearing papers being crumpled around.

"I don't really do requests. If you'd like a story done I'll send it to you privately. Commissions are a dollar every thousand words. There's a form you can fill out if you want."

He sat down beside the yote, who went back to munching on his double whopper, cheese, no mayo. Kyo exchanged a look with Jade that the fisher didn't pick up and he continued on, pulling out a few folded up pieces of paper. "Well not requests then man, just ideas. Like, c'mon man, you write some good stuff. Like with those lesbians in that one! Or with that teacher and the girl? Oh man."

"I'm glad you like my stuff." The coyote scooted over and smiled, deciding to give the fisher a chance. "Go ahead and talk." He took another bite of his burger.

"Well man, I've been a fan of your work since you first got published, you know cause you got the thing for the sex scenes, I'm telling you. Yeah though, you ever think about a series with like... a guy who has to have sex with uh, like this one girl. She does magic or some shit and every time he has sex with her he gets a little of her magic. And like, he's doing it to save his girlfriend cause she had a spell put on her. So like... he keeps doin' it with her and shit cause he has to but then he starts likin' the witch or whatever."

"Sounds cool actually." It did, maybe this guy wasn't so bad after all.

"Yeah, it came to me when I was getting a tattoo the other day. Got thrown out though, those girls is some right nasty bitches."

"Oh?" Well that suddenly put his thought on hold.

He rolled his eyes. "Cat in there got all hissy with me 'cause I said I wouldn't mind getting any of what's under her skirt. She told me she had a boyfriend and I told her why don't she get a real man, you know?" He laughed, jabbing the coyote in the ribs with an elbow. "And then she had the nerve to tell me to get out of the chair and out of the shop. So I called her out for the bitch she was and they threw -me- out!" He grumbled. "Bunch of bitches, the lot of them."

Kyo laughed softly. This was great, he'd remembered how angry he'd gotten when Haiku told him about the incident. "You better get the fuck away from me." The coyote took a bite of his burger, leaving half of it on the paper as he stuck a few fries in his mouth. Suddenly the fisher rose, looking a bit surprised.

"What's wrong with you?"

"Oh, I just don't take kindly to guys saying shit to my girlfriend." He swallowed and stood himself. The coyote stepped a little closer, his nostrils flaring. The canine wasn't very large, he was shorter than the fisher actually but the glow in his eyes dared the fisher to attack.

"Who? That cat?"

"Yeah, that cat!" The coyote didn't raise his voice but his voice had gained a certain edge to it that made him seem more angry than he looked.

"Sorry man, I just never figured you were the kind to date fat women."

"Ky-" Jade rose slowly but she was a little too late. The coyote moved quickly, as if he were about to attack and the fisher gave a sweep of his paw, dragging long claws through the air, barely missing Kyo's face.

Kyo let out a short bark, his fur standing on end, fur bristling as he brought his fist crashing into the ferret's nose. Bam, blood splattered his paw and it seemed as if his nose had erupted. From there the coyote ducked the useless swipes and drove his opposite fist into the fisher's throat. A short hop and his forehead slammed into the fisher's jaw, snapping it shut. He felt a knee driven into his chest and suddenly he was forced away but he found Scott staggering, wounded prey.

His fangs bared themselves in a grin and the coyote darted back again, driving his knuckles into his opponent's stomach in a furious barrage. Scott wasn't entirely out of it though, he laced his paws together and slammed them into the coyote's cheek, knocking him down, to the side. He prepared to pull himself back up but the moment he moved there was a footpaw in his ribs. Growling, the coyote rolled and hopped back up to slide his fingers inside the fisher's nostrils, then pull back, ripping them open. The fisher gave a strangled scream and began to go down at the coyote's next attack, a right hook across his cheek. Began to that was. Kyo grabbed his collar and held him up while he continued pounding at his face with a closed fist, his knuckles busting open on his forehead

Oblivious to the pain and the fact that Jade was calling for help inside the coyote renewed his assault on the fisher, even after his shirt ripped and he was forced to drop him. Bleeding knuckles smashed his nose and muzzle, a loud crack heard after one of Kyo's blows.

Suddenly someone tackled him from behind, knocking the coyote into the bushes. He clawed and scrambled until they let him free and found it was Lance. The cougar raised his paws defensively and Kyo stopped, taking a breath. His instincts still told him to attack but he fought them off with a shake of his head. "Kyo... calm down."

Jade rushed to him a moment later, putting her paws on his chest, nearly pushing him back in the prickly bushes. Red cleared from his eyes and he realized he'd been about to move towards Scott again. The yote shook his head and blinked, slowly coming out of that trance fighting took him into.

He realized his body was on fire and his heart was racing. His fur slowly lowered from being on end and his knuckles ached. His stomach did too, not to mention his face but his paws had taken most of the abuse. His first actual thought was that writing would be tough with his knuckles messed up like that. But he'd won. He doubted that fisher would dare even approach he or his girlfriend ever again. And that was the point.

But the fight, ah, that was going to be a little harder to explain. No doubt the fisher would need medical treatment and... when had that crowd gotten there? A large group of furs, no doubt from inside the restaurant came out to observe. Someone checked up on the fisher and called for a doctor. Everything seemed to move so slow now.

Lance was on his cell phone. "Yeah, he got into a fight. Mmhm. We're just waiting around for the police and the ambulance." Haiku. He thought of her suddenly. He was fairly sure he wouldn't be going to jail, even if he had done all the damage he hadn't thrown the first blow so technically it was self defense. Even so, he didn't like the thought of Haiku finding out about him beating the stuffing out of someone.

~*~

He was fairly sure she wouldn't be finding out about the extent to which he beat the guy now but he had to tell her about the fight, even if he was sheltering her from the harshness of the actual truth. After the police had found out what had happened, fortunately he had another witness besides Jade who was in the Burger King they asked if he wanted to press charges, to which he said no of course.

Of course not. He had a nice swelling causing his left eye to close up a bit, not to mention what would be a bruise on his stomach but he still felt good about it. He currently was in a car with Lance who would be taking him home. He'd gotten the rest of the day off. Lucky him.

He remembered when he used to have this reflective feeling quite often. He used to get in a lot of fights, talk a lot more, a lot louder.

He remembered taking someone's head to a concrete wall and watching them crumple up. He never was a big guy but he was quick and could often catch someone by surprise, he never seemed the type to fight so... viciously. He'd been a fighter for as long as he'd known. When he was younger he was a very angry 'yote and the only way he knew how to take out his aggression was through venting with his fists. He'd later grown up and began to take out his frustration through writing and drawing and reading. From there he'd become an extremely mellowed guy who's anger only showed itself through his fighting. It always caught his friends by surprise.

Kyo was used to it though. His friends often seemed surprised when he displayed any emotion. His happiness was a consistent one, a mask he wore all the time so anything else on him seemed foreign and wrong. He was that guy who was always happy even through the ups and downs, the guy who could be there for you and you could talk to.

The guy who'd seen it all and faced it with a smile.

Of course he wasn't really that guy. He'd seen a good bit of it, not all of it, more than he should have at his age but not all of it. And he certainly hadn't faced it with a smile, he'd just been able to talk about it later with a smile pasted on his face. It was unnatural for him to fake his emotions or lack of such. It was like he was lying, and he did happen to be an excellent liar. He just called it acting, and he did happen to be an excellent actor too.

It was hard though, being there for all his friends when he could hardly allow himself to take a break, to tell someone about his problems. He did tell Haiku sometimes. Sometimes. He couldn't allow himself to put all of his thoughts on her shoulders, all of his pessimistic ideas. He never told her how scared he was about having a child with her. About all the ways he could fail that plagued his thoughts.

Kyo also hadn't told her about how much pain he went through when talking to someone, hoping they would ask if anything was wrong. He recalled a point when he was around his sister, acting strange, desperately hoping she would ask if he was alright. He couldn't just admit that he wasn't, that would be admitting weakness. His insane standards for himself were the reason he hadn't cried in years. But when he thought about all his problems it made him want to. It was just impossible for him to do. Weakness in others was fine. In himself? Unacceptable.

Of course he didn't bitch and moan about his problems, he was aware that others had more issues than he, it just would have been nice to talk to someone.

"You alright Kyo? You're quiet." Said Lance.

"Yeah, course." The coyote laughed and flashed one of his famous (fake) smiles. "Just wondering what I'm gonna say to Haiku."

"Oh yeah, she's not gonna be happy you busted up your paws, huh? No more massages."

"Heh... nah, she'll probably be angry I messed up my pretty face."

~*~

"So... Miss-"

"Oh, just call me Haiku." She smiled brightly.

The reporter adjusted his glasses with his free paw and gave a short nod. He was a handsome looking wolf Haiku had to admit and he had some of the girls in giggles. After all he was on the television. When they'd heard they were having a story done in the paper they didn't know that the local news would be by later too! Haiku was the first of the girls they were interviewing, she and Kayla had been picked. Not that all of them wouldn't be on tv. They would just be getting the majority of the story time.

"Haiku, that's quite the interesting name for an interesting artist. How long have you been working here?" He smiled and she fought off a blush. He really was as handsome as he was on tv.

"Oh around... three years? It's where I met my boyfriend actually." She laughed.

"Is he an artist here too?"

"Noooo, no way. No, he just went here to get his fur dyed -all- the time. Still does actually."

"I'm sure you get all sorts of types coming in here then." Another one of those award winning pearly white smiles and she looked down slightly, a shy smile curling her lips.

"Definitely."

"How do you feel about being ranked number one in tattoo artistry in the state?" He arched a brow that must have been sculpted by the gods themselves.

"Oh I don't know." She looked over to the camera, clearing her throat. "I think we all earned it really. We all work together to create a friendly environment, heck, most of us didn't even know we were in the rankings until Sheila, our manager, said so."

"Interesting, I have no doubt that it's a difficult job you have here. I hardly can draw stick figures myself." He gave a laugh and her heart thumped. Such a deep, rich voice he had. Lower than Kyo's though the coyote's voice was pure it wasn't quite so velvety. "You're a talented woman no doubt."

"Thanks." Her cheeks lit up a bit. Uh-oh...

~*~

"Who's that guy?" Kyo made a face. "He doesn't look so pretty to me." He growled lowly, shaking his head. "Goddamn..." His words became a muttered slew of curse words that would have made a nun faint and a sailor applaud his creativity.

"Don't be so jealous. Redpawed, remember, not green." Hazel stuck out her tongue. "You should be proud your girlfriend was on the news."

"I -am-." He frowned. Good thing Haiku was in the shower. She hadn't exactly reacted well to coming home to an injured coyote and he doubted her seeing a frown on his face would make her feel any better. Sighing, the coyote looked over to the television, where the reporter was now flirting with her through a series of unneeded questions. Psh, who needed to know how her relationship was with how often she had to be at the shop?

"Well relax then. It's not like she's about to run off with the guy. So... does your face hurt?" Hazel asked innocently, suddenly going off track.

Shrugging a bit, he tilted his head back. "I dunno, not so much any more... and if you say what I think you're gonna say I'm gonna-"

"Cause it's killing me."

"I'm gonna punch you." He narrowed eyes at her.

"Do it and Rein will give you a reason for your face to really hurt." She stuck out her tongue once again and he rolled his eyes.

"Psh, whatever." Rein probably outweighed him by fifty pounds. Kyo was sure he could win the fight but he was sure he wouldn't be coming out of it in perfect shape. "I'll take him any day of the week. Soon as my knuckles are alright." He raised his bandaged paws. Haiku had bandaged them up, the coyote complaining the whole while.

"I'll make sure to tell him you said that. So... you said you got into a fight with that guy from the other day?"

"Mmhm."

"So I see how messed up you are. Face and ribs. From your knuckles I'm guessing you either missed and punched a lot of walls or he's in the hospital."

"Mmm... that would be the later." He said, avoiding eye contact. Hazel had seen him fight. He'd been friends with her longer than with Haiku.

"Well alright then. Tell Haiku I said I love her. Rein's gonna be wondering why his lovin's so late." The wolf rose and moved over to give him a chaste hug. "See ya Kyo."

"Peace."

Bam! BamBamBam! Tadadadadadadada! His fists provided the percussion for a symphony that would have been painful to experience, let alone watch. The coyote's chest heaved, rising and falling slowly. He leaned against the punching bag and Baxter arched a brow.

"Pretty impressive but don't you think you're going a bit hard on it?" The yote opened an eye to give him a look. "Gotcha. Heh, maybe you should consider doing some boxing yourself."

Kyo stepped away from the bag, this time launching a kick that made it rock violently. "Never was a boxing type. Too restrained." He bent his leg at the knee without dropping it and applied another series of kicks, low, high, low, high, middle, high, middle, high. Finally that leg dropped and he repeated the process with his opposite leg. "Don't like getting hit in the face either." He continued, voice ragged.

"That's some right jab you've got there though. I'm not surprised you broke that guy's jaw yesterday." He'd told Baxter the details. Baxter could understand, he was a paid fighter.

Whap! The yote backpawed the bag, then turned, slamming an elbow into it. He hopped back a step or two to do an ax kick, something that would bring his footpaw crashing down on his opponent's shoulder, then moved in to slam his open paw against the bag, knocking it back. He leaned into it when it swayed back against him and the hare put a paw on his shoulder. "Cool it man, your paws are bleeding."

Kyo looked down, eyeing the bandages around his paws to find they were indeed bleeding. He hadn't torn them up that badly in a while. "Heh..."

"Listen Kyo, I don't care what you say, long as you manage to duck enough and keep your paws up you won't get hit in the face much. I'm going to give your name to a guy I know, he can hook you up with some small, chicken fights."

"Chicken fights?"

"Lowest kind of boxing. Fighters don't have a salary, most don't get paid at all. You will though, only if you win. Guy I'm setting you up is good. He'll hone that form you got." He patted the coyote's shoulder.

"Alright then... I'll give it a shot."

"So why do you think she's mad at you?" Baxter took a swig of coffee. They had gone by that coffee shop again though being males they found it more comfortable to be out in the elements while they drank. Macho stuff it was. The duo had made their way back to the gym, both exhausted. They now stood behind it, watching a few younger furs training under an old guy who looked like he could have been Rocky's trainer. (Well only one of them stood, Baxter, leaning against the wall, Kyo sat on a wooden crate.)

"Dunno. Don't think she's mad. Just feel like she doesn't like it when I fight. I think it'll be worse if I tell her what I actually did to that guy." Kyo nodded, sipping his coffee. It was hot. Too hot for him to taste. He didn't really care because he didn't enjoy the taste of coffee anyway.

"Well I wouldn't try the other fights then. She'll get too worried then. You don't want to stress her out while she's pregnant man. In fact, why don't you get her some flowers or something? It'd make her smile."

"Heh... I might, and I know. I was wondering how I was going to tell you I couldn't do the boxing thing."

The hare gave him a playful jab. "Heh, you could have just said it man. You know I know how it is. Marie and I got pregnant 'gain few months ago. We're expecting triplets. Lil' Baxter's gonna have a load of company."

"Woah, triplets? Sheesh, lotta diapers to change." He shook his head. "But yeah, thanks."

The hare downed a bit more of the liquid in his cup. "You know I've always got you." And he had. Baxter had been his friend for several years, an army vet who exceeded his years by almost a decade. "Make sure to tell the missus I said hey." He pushed off the wall he leaned against, slipping his paw back in the pocket of his leather jacket.

"Hey, why don't you and Marie stop by this weekend?"

He chuckled. "If we can find a baby-sitter."

"Oh, no problem, I bet I can make Jade do it. She loves kids. She's already punched me about eight times asking to be the godmother for me an Haiku's baby. Maybe you should tell that guy about her."

"Ey, I just might." Quipped Baxter playfully. "But I gotta get back. I'm sure Marie wondered why I was at the gym so long today. You need a ride?"

Kyo shook his head, raising his cup in thanks. "I'm good. Someone's picking me up actually." Dawn.

"Ah, well alright. I'll call you tonight then."

"Peace dude." And with that Baxter walked off, to the front of the building, where he'd parked his motorcycle.

The coyote remained there, sipping his coffee.

"Haiku doesn't know you're with me right now, does she?" Dawn asked. She was in her seat at the studio. They had taken a break between shooting her and their next one so she had a good while to talk to him.

"She doesn't know I'm here, no. She doesn't demand that I tell her everywhere I'm going." He sat opposite her, munching on an apple he'd been offered.

"Ah, but if she did what would you tell her? 'Oh, I'm just going to watch my half-nude ex be photographed before I cheat on you with her right outside her studio'?" He frowned at her words, something that made her smile.

"I'm not cheating on Haiku."

"Of course not. You're only talking with your ex, hiding your doings for no reason at all." He shifted in his seat and took a breath, his gaze flicking to the side. "Ah... do I have a point? Even if you aren't cheating on her now you're folding. And if it isn't with me it'll be with some other girl."

"I told you I'm not cheating on her, it's not that complicated. I don't want to fuck you as much as you say." His gaze slid over to hers and his brows furrowed with dislike.

"Probably not. Probably want to fuck me more. Especially because you can't have me. Or... you can but that intangible leash known as a relationship has got you tethered to a wall. Did you enjoy those pictures I gave you?"

"I didn't look at them." He growled lowly. His mind had been on other things, he'd forgotten they were in his gym bag until he'd looked in it today. And even then he'd avoided touching the envelope as if it were diseased.

"Haven't yet." There was a moment of silence before she raised the cup of water that had rested beside her to her lips. "So you say you're going down to visit your parents tomorrow?" She raised the plastic cup as if it were made of the most delicate china in the world, letting what must have been a tiny stream of the fluids trickle over her tongue, down her throat. That wonderful tongue. She'd been great at using it when they'd been together...

"Yeah, I'm going to see them with her. I haven't told them that she's pregnant yet." He suddenly shook his head and took a breath, becoming aware that he'd been staring and holding his breath while daydreaming.

"Well I hope that goes well. Tell them I said hey, will you?"

"Hm. So now that's one from you and one from Jade. Are all my exes conspiring together to make my parents recall them?"

"Oh, I doubt your parents knew, let alone met, all your exes." He kept himself from wincing and offered a shrug in return. "And you say you won't join me for a behind-the-studio-romp?"

"Yeah."

"Oh alright then. I suppose I'll have to use Gary again. Gary's my vibe, I'm sure you remember him from the pictures."

"I didn't look at the pictures." But now he couldn't say he didn't want to. And from that look in her eyes he could tell she knew that same thing. Fuck, she had him again.

Kyo's mom (Ma, as he called her) didn't look like she'd been born and raised on the south side of Chicago. She didn't talk like it either, which Haiku figured was the reason Kyo did neither as well. It didn't quite explain Kyo's choice in style though. She wore a Bears' jersey that Kyo had warned her about, something he'd gotten her for Christmas some years back. His mom wasn't really a die hard football fan. Just a Bears one. And lucky them, they came on the same day as a game.

"Hello, you must be Kyo's mom. He told me so much about you."

"Alexandra. And you're the famous Haiku. You're as pretty as he told me." The female coyote smiled and took the paw offered to her, giving a shake before she looked over to her son, who was unloading bags from their car. Their rental car to be precise, they'd picked it up from the airport. His step-father had been on call for his job and been called out to help. He was still gone actually.

"We're only staying for like... three days, why did you pack so many things?" Kyo complained, walking towards the front door of the ranch home.

"Well there's nothing wrong with bringing extra. It's not like you can't carry it, can you?" Haiku teased.

"I'll manage." He grumbled.

~*~

"They aren't so bad." Haiku said softly in the safety of their room that night. His room really, or it had been for the year or so he'd stayed with them before he moved out upon his eighteenth birthday. It was dark. He also had his eyes closed.

The yote rested on his old bed, his room pretty much the same thing it had been before he left. Books lined the shelf above his desk and over his bed. The dreamcatcher was still where he'd left it and even some of the CDs he'd left in there were there. With dust of course. He hadn't visited in... how many months? Someone had made his bed though, probably his mum.

It was night and they'd broken the news to his parents, who'd taken it surprisingly well. He wasn't throttled and they even seemed to like Haiku. He'd also passed on the "hey"s from his exes though while Haiku wasn't in the room. Now she was in his bedroom with him and he lay on his back, his legs long enough to easily touch the floor despite how a good bit of them were on the bed. He gave a sigh and felt the bed shift as she laid beside him, then feeling her nose press against his neck.

"Yeah, sure they aren't." He finally replied.

"Don't be a butt." She said and he could imagine her expression without even looking at her.

"I'll try not to." Kyo murmured, rolling over to lay atop her, straddling her waist. "Rawr..." He murmured softly, planting a gentle kiss on her neck. His eyes opened to confirm his location and he was silently pleased to find he had indeed scored a direct hit, sunk her battleship and planted one right on the hollow of her throat. She squirmed, feeling his paws stroke her ears. Sneaky things they were, stroking the length of each of her large ears, claws carefully stroking the sensitive flesh, poking at her piercings before they went on their way, pinching her eartips.

"Kyo..." She whimpered softly, heat rushing to her face. He felt her paws pushing at his chest in a feeble attempt to get him off. "Kyo... your parents..." She said, though they had gone to bed an hour before she often was very vocal.

"We'll have to get off the bed, squeaks too much... bend over the desk for me." He clambered up, pulling off his jeans and she eyed him incredulously.

"Are you serious?"

He stared at her before replying. "Do I look serious?" Suddenly his pants and boxers dropped and she caught sight of his member, already pushing free of his sheath. She let out a whimper and rose, pulling off her own pants and thong so she could do ask he asked.

"They're gonna hear us." She complained as he mounted her, feeling his growing shaft between her legs, along the lips of her sex. He patted her butt once or twice before he leaned over her, nipping at her ear.

"Just have to work to be quiet hun." Was his whisper before she felt the tip of his member probing at her sex. "I'm just in a mood where no means nothing at all and I won't be happy until I've filled my kitten with my milk." He chuckled into her ear at how silly it sounded but her cheeks were flushed and all she could squeak out was a soft mew. A kiss graced the base of her ear, at the back where it met her head and she shivered, closing her eyes tight as she felt the first of his shaft beginning to plunge inside her. More and more, she bit her lip but it seemed like it was almost too much for her to take and keep bottled up. Every inch of him filled her and he let forth a heavy breath at the sensation of her rippling walls.

If only she could be as quiet, it was difficult for her not to moan and he hadn't even gotten started. Back and forth he began to rock, his hips spanking her every few strokes of her inner walls with his shaft, that feeling beginning to spread through her, tingling consuming her thighs and stomach. Her tail wrapped around his waist as if beckoning him closer and she let out soft murrs each time his body met her own, tendrils of pleasure snaking into her through her rump as if his hips had planted them, soft thrusts driving them deep inside her.

Easy and slow, he continued mating her in the dark, occasionally "Shh"ing her with the hushed rebuttal of "you shh!", giving her neck a nip to remind her. He pushed a little harder, unable to control himself, his breathing invading her ears and every sense of her, if only she could control herself the same. She let out a soft moan when his shaft hit a particular spot she liked and he gave a hissed. "Be quiet!" That made her hang her head and blush more with arousal.

As if he knew that spot was sensitive he continued going back and forth, grinding over that place especially, her whimpers slowly gaining strength as his thrusts did. He gave a sudden, hard buck and she let out a loud moan, but as if he foresaw it his paw jumped in front of her mouth, covering it and muffling her moan. Haiku gave into bliss at the feeling of him controlling her and the risk of their sexual endeavor, her walls suddenly clamping down, massaging his shaft roughly in her orgasm. He fought off a groan himself as her fluids trickled down his shaft, wetting his furred orbs, dripping down to the floor.

She could smell herself and whimpered for more around his paw, which only made him hold a little tighter, his hips bucking harder. The yote pounded inside her at a rapid tempo, fighting off his instincts to keep his hips from slapping against her own. His member throbbed rapidly, as a result of his odd mating his knot didn't grow as it normally would. All she could feel was that shaft plunging in her, the lack of his hips hitting her giving her the impression that it just continued plowing and rutting without halt.

They continued under a blanket of darkness, the coyote feeling his sack pulling into him, his lower stomach tensing with the tell-tale signs of his impending orgasm.

She reached her next orgasm abruptly and he found his member in a churning squeezing hold and suddenly his hips, rocked, the coyote unable to hold his back. He pushed, his hips clapping against hers quite loudly to make her call out despite his paw in the way. He whispered her name into her ear as he came, his seed leaving his shaft in a hurry to coat the inside her of spasming sex, the walls of her sex pulling, milking at him to let his seed travel where he'd deposited it so many times before. He managed to pull back and drive his hips into her once again, rutting her to make her give another muffled whimper of pleasure.

His cum dribbled around his member, staining his thighs, dribbling down along the underside to drip from his sack. He gave a low growl and closed his eyes, leaning into her. Her chest was heaving, heart racing at the rush from that feeling, being silenced and taken from behind. She let out little whimpers, unable to manage anything sensible in her post-coitus haze.

Her paws were shaking. Her whole body shivered beneath him like a leaf in a storm or like she had come out of the cold. She did that after they'd had a particularly good session so he'd done well, something he was glad for. Kyo planted a soft kiss on her neck.

"You kept telling me to shh back when I was saying shh." He laughed softly, a smile curling his lips.

"I did? I didn't notice." She genuinely seemed surprised, making it more funny. She'd been so intense when she'd said it, he thought he'd angered her.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it."

"Mm..." She mumbled and he leaned in closer, his ears standing up so he could better hear. "If I hadn't I'd have bit you."

~*~

So to be honest the whole trip had gone much better than Kyo had expected. His parents had reacted to the news favorably and as far as he knew they didn't hear the two of them "having fun". (To his knowledge. Actually Haiku and Kyo's mother had a conversation the following day that would have had Kyo speechless and red in the face. It wasn't about him of course. But it was about -that-.)

The two of them had just gotten back, it was late at night, around eleven when they first got to the airport, now it was eleven forty and Kyo had collapsed on the couch after repeating his question of why Haiku had packed so many things.

His girlfriend had gone in the shower to bathe while Kyo recovered from their flight. He glanced over at the TV, rolling eyes at the commercial that had come on for natural male enhancement. "I'm fine with my small penis actually." He told the TV in a matter of fact way before suddenly he heard a knocking. The coyote blinked, staring up at the ceiling. Was that the TV or was it actually the door? Another knock. It was the door. Who was knocking at eleven forty, now it was eleven forty-three, in the morning!? He sat up slowly and walked across the floor to the door.

Likely it was Jade, she had a weird thing for being up late and wanting cookies. She baked them and knowing the two of them were mostly nocturnal came up with them, or occasionally for ingredients. He bet it was sugar as he approached the door. Suddenly his paw was on the knob and he though it might have been Dawn.

Dawn could have heard where he lived from Lily. He wouldn't have been surprised if Lily had told her that. His heart jumped up into his throat at the next knock and suddenly he wasn't sure if he wanted to open the door.

Better he did it than something worse happen, like Haiku completing her shower quickly and wondering what that sound was. He unlocked and opened the door.

"... Hello?"

Who stood there wasn't Dawn or Jade. It wasn't anyone he knew actually. It was some guy, a husky. He was a few inches taller than Kyo, meaning he was a little taller than six foot, or that exactly. With his ears Kyo was probably as tall as him though, which was odd. Kyo had tall ears, even for a coyote.

"Hi? Does Haiku live here?" He asked. He had a backpack on and a pair of jeans as well as a nice looking windbreaker.

"Uhhh... yuh. But who the hell are you? It's almost midnight dude."

"I know but I had to come see her. I've been in town for a while and I knew she'd want to see me no matter what the time."

"Alright buddy, I don't know who the f-"

"Vincent?" Kyo turned and looked back to find Haiku standing there, in a t-shirt. His t-shirt actually, from how it draped from her like a short dress. The yote looked back to find the husky eyeing his girlfriend's bare and damp legs.

"Haiku!" The husky moved into the apartment without warning and wrapped his arms around Haiku in a warm hug.

"Hey!" Kyo was there an instant later, his paw on Vincent's shoulder, prepared to rip him away before he asked.

"Is this guy your roomie? He sure is rude."

"That guy... is my boyfriend." Haiku said, slipping out of his grasp.

The husky turned to eye the coyote with a look of disdain evident on his visage. He arched a brow. "Is he now?" Kyo's fur bristled, standing on end.

"And who's this guy? He said you know him?" Kyo fought off a growl.

Her response caught him off guard and he was silent for a moment after while the husky seemed to take a satisfied smirk onto his muzzle at the sight of the stunned coyote. "Vincent... is my ex."

"...Lol...wut?"

That means this is a cliffhanger. All the problems will be solved and everything will be revealed in the third and final episode. Until then, enjoy.

Again, same as with the last, Haiku is copyright to herself and me mine.
