First Day of School
Here is the second part of the story (previous one: Introduction). I apologize if you don't like the story so far. Please comment and give any tips if you can. Also, tell me if I missed any tags.
Moving into a new town means that I have to study at a new school. My 20-year old brother Matt just graduated before we moved. So today was definitely a very nervous day for me. Fortunately, my dad drove me to school (thank God) so I won't be going in alone. He stopped the car in front of the school and I got out of the car.
"Remember to make new friends now Colin." He said.
"Don't worry, I will."
I turned around to take a look at the school. It was huge. I don't usually go to big schools. But when I do, Matt is usually there. But he's not here now, so I'm alone. Dad could see me getting a bit nervous.
"Do you want me to go there with you?" he asked.
"No, I'll be fine." I lied. "I'll see you later, Dad!"
I waved goodbye and he drove off. I took a deep breath and walked in to the new school. The rest was a bit rushed since the school bell rang as soon as I came in. We had a school assembly and other things like that. After that, I headed to my classroom. To my surprise, I was the only new student there. (Great, just great) I sat down on an open seat; the wolf next to me was too busy talking to someone else, no one was sitting on the other side (cause I was next to a wall). So I just sat there, watching others talk. I looked again at the wolf, he was kind of cute, a little chubby, but still cute. I looked out the window to try to get my mind off him.
"Hi there!" the wolf beside me greeted.
"Hello..." I greeted back.
"You must be new here. I'm Kyle."
"I'm Colin."
So we chatted a bit, when the teacher (husky) came in.
"Good morning everyone. It's wonderful to see you all again."
Everyone said greeted him back. He saw me at the back and said, "I see we have a new student."
Everyone turned around to see me which was awkward. "What's your name, boy?"
I stood up. "I'm Colin." I said nervously.
"Welcome to the class, Colin. I'm Mr. Ronald."
I sat back down.
"Since you're new here, I will assign a buddy to show you around."
Buddy? Really? I know I'm new here but I don't think I need someone to look after me. Then again, I don't want to be alone without a friend. Mr. Ronald was picking one from the class when Kyle beside me raised his paw.
"Me! Teacher! Pick me!"
"Alright, Kyle, you be Colin's buddy and show him around the school."
"Um, thank you?" I said.
"Don't worry, I'll show you everything in the school."
I smiled. Maybe this school isn't so bad. So Mr. Ronald told us about the rules and regulations and other boring stuff. Then the bell rang and we left the classroom.
"Come on, Colin. I'll show you around." Kyle said.
I didn't hesitate and followed him around for the day. He showed me around, the cafeteria, the gym, auditorium and the bathroom (?!).
"This is where the other guys talk about sex stuff and they're love life." Kyle explained.
"You don't need to tell me that. I think I already learnt that before." I said. "Wait, you do that too?"
"Of course I do. I have a girlfriend you know."
My heart was broken when I heard him say that. He has a girlfriend? Than that means he's straight. "Y-you have a girlfriend?" I asked.
"Of course, she's my 8th actually."
Eight? He had 7 exes? Mother of God, he really is straight. That made me a little more hurt inside.
"Okay, that's nice." I hid my sadness by smiling. But I think he could see through my smile.
"Let me guess, you don't have one?"
Okay, maybe not. "Huh?"
"Do you have a girlfriend?" he asked again.
"Oh, no. I don't have one."
"That's too bad. Do you want me to find you one?"
"What? No!"
"Why not?"
"I don't want one yet."
"Fine, suite yourself."
The rest of the day was a little boring. So dismissal came, I went to the school gate. I looked outside. I didn't see dad's car anywhere. I guess he's not here yet. A half hour passes and there were only a few students left in the campus. My mind started wandering to places and I started thinking.
'So Kyle has a girlfriend. I guess we're only staying as friends.'
What's wrong with me? I'm having a crush with someone I just met. But he looks so cute. Who can blame me? I suddenly heard his voice from a distance. I turned to see him talking with someone (female cat). She's probably his girlfriend. That didn't make me feel better. A tear streamed down my face but I wiped it off when I saw Kyle coming this way. I looked back out the gate to see if dad's there. He wasn't. I felt Kyle's paw on my shoulder.
"Hello Colin."
"Hi."
"So, why so glum?" he asked.
"It's nothing..."
"Come on, we're friends. You can tell me."
Just when I was about to tell him, I saw my dad's car outside.
"I'll see you tomorrow, I have to go."
I waved goodbye to Kyle and got inside dad's car. He drove the car and we left.
