Soldiers of War pt. 1

State of Emergency

This part is going to be more political babbles so don't expect anything too exciting.

President Schneider, a Republican wolf from Wisconsin about the age of thirty-nine making him the youngest President of the United States of America (he surpassed Kennedy's record), was sleeping in his bedroom in the White House. His lovely she wolf wife was sleeping next to him. He was getting a good night sleep when suddenly his personal bedside phone rang. He picked it up without even lifting his head or opening his eyes.

"Yessss?" he said very sleepily. General Martin Dempsey from the Joint Chief of Staff was on the other line.

"Are you awake Mr. President?" he asked. President Schneider sat up in his bed, his wife was still asleep. He stretched out his arms. Prior to entering politics, he had served in the Marine Corps.

"I am now," he answered "What is it?"

The General was a little hesitant. "It's about our allies in Canada. There's been an attack."

The word of this pretty much woke President Schneider right up.

"A terrorist attack?" he asked with deep concern. He was getting worried. Especially because the new Canadian Prime Minister, Gerald Hillary, was an old friend of his.

"No," General Dempsey replied "It's far worse than you can imagine Mr. President. We'll explain the situation at the Pentagon. We need to over here right away."

He then hung up. President Schneider couldn't believe his ears. Canada was under attack? He immediately went to his closet to get one of his suits to put on. His wife, Tabatha, then woke up.

"Honey, you know what time it is?" she said with concern. Schneider approached his beautiful wife and gave her a gentle kiss on her muzzle.

"Tabatha, I'm needed at the Pentagon right away." he spoke to her. He quickly headed out the door. The Secret Serviceman escorted him to his limousine. The drive was fairly short and he was soon outside of the Pentagon's front doors. Two MPs approached his limo and saluted him.

"Welcome to the Pentagon Mr. President," the tall black wolf said to him. "I'm Corporal Hank Pierce of the 5th Security Forces Squadron of the US Air Force Sir! I'll escort you to the Chiefs of Staff."

The President nodded as the airman escorted him through the Pentagon's halls. They led him to the meeting room of the Chief Joint of Staff. President Schneider stepped in and took a seat as General Matin Dempsey stood on up.

"Mr. President," he said as he handed him some photographs "About a week ago, one of our destroyer ships intercepted a suspicious cargo freighter in the Pacific ocean. Onboard with tanks, caches of weapons, and enough ammunition for a small war."

President was dumbfounded. Was he not the Commander-in-Chief of this nation's military?

"Why was I not alerted to this!" he demanded.

"At the time we thought nothing of it." Dempsey said as he shook his head. "We destroyed the weapons and took the ship into custody."

President Schneider was pissed off. He should be aware of these things. He took a look at the photographs. They were pictures of aerial shots of what looked like Russia or Chinese made tanks moving in a convoy, an airfield of MiG fighter jets and Hind helicopters, and artillery guns.

"Where did these photos come from?" he asked.

The Admiral once again bowed his head in shame.

"About thirty-six hours ago, one of our UAV drones was flying over British Columbia and it took pictures of what was later confirmed to be North Korean military vehicles occupying certain areas in the Canadian province."

President Schneider's jaw dropped and his fur stood on edge.

"My God!" he exclaimed. "Should we alert Prime Minister Hillary about this!"

Just then General Dempsey stood up and shook his head.

"The problem is Mr. President is that as of forty-eighthours ago we lost all contact with the Canadian government. Are boys at Air Force intelligence believe the North Koreans may have set up communication jammers. We are even getting reports from phone companies who claim that people have tried to contact friends and family in Canada and can't reach them."

The President couldn't believe this.

"What about the state of Alaska?" he asked with a worried look.

"Don't worry Mr. President we still have contact with Alaska and they've been alerted." Dempsey replied calmly.

About then he took out an audio recorder.

"This is what we wanted you to hear." he said"About twelve hours ago, a Seattle radio station picked up several emergency transmission from several Canadian bases. Listen."

With that he pushed the button. At first there was onlystatic, but then the audible sounds of machine gun fire and explosions. There were many audio skips.

"Hello... this is lieutenant.... Canada's under attack..... North Koreans.... lost contact..."

Then the audio stopped.

"There's more," Dempsey said. He pushed the button again. It was the same transmission over and over again.

"This is Chilliwack Army Base, we are under attack!"

"This is Comox Air Force Base we are under attack!"

"This is Edmonton Army Base we are under attack!"

"This Esquimalt Naval Base we are under attack!"

And then the audio recordings stopped.

"Oh my God!" President Schneider said to himself.

"Mr. President," General Dempsey said. "What are your orders?"

President Schneider closed his eyes and thought deeply. He had to act quickly. He opened his eyes then looked at Admiral Roughead.

"Admiral I want the Navy and Coast Guard to increase patrolling in the Pacific. You are to report and intercept any suspicious ships. I also want you to get in contact with South Korea, Japan, and China and let them know of the situation." he ordered.

"Yes sir!" the Admiral responded. President Schneider then looked at the Chief Staff of the Air Force.

"Alert all Air Force bases and increase air surveillance over Canada." he ordered "I also want you to try to contact the Canadian government."

"Yes sir!" the Air Force general replied. Schneider then turned to his personal assistant Greenburg.

"Contact the Secretary of State and tell him to contact NATO command to tell them about the situation," he ordered "If this escalades into World War Three which I hope it doesn't, I want them to be prepared. I want you to also contact Langley. If the North Koreans have already established airfields they will most likely be trying to set up WMD sites and I want as much intel as possible!"

"Right away Mr. President." Greenburg responded and he got out his phone.

"General Amos," he ordered "I want all available Marine Corp divisions ready to go. I want them on assistance to the recon and direct action forces I want deployed."

"At your command," General Amos responded. President Schneider then looked at General Dempsey.

"General," he began "Contact Fort Benning. I want the Rangers deployed effective immediately!"
