Damien stepped back into the hut quietly, having to walk down the damp and poorly lit hallway silently so he wouldn't wake anyone who was sleeping. After leaving the pub, he decided it was time to check on Kevin and Demetrius and see if he could bring them back to the palace. The King was the one who has ordered the assassination and Damien had proof of it, so there was no need to worry about the King-especially when Damien had the assassin who was offered the job as a key into throwing the King off of his throne. So there was no need to worry about the King now, he will possibly be thrown into his own dungeon by tomorrow evening.

Then Kevin and Demetrius could be happy... That is, until, Kevin chooses he wants to stay or not.

"Lord Damien?"

Damien's ears twitched as he followed the soft voice behind him, seeing the Racoon from before who helped Kevin and Demetrius. He was half stepping out of a room with the door slightly open behind him; he must have heard the Tiger come through the front door and came out to greet the guest. He wore a wore out ragged shirt and pants, both having some holes in spots but his fur seemed bright and clean, but judging by the mop in his hand he must have been sweating.

"Ah," Damien brought a hand behind his ears and spun straight around to stand up right, showing his dominance over the smaller Racoon, "Sorry for coming so late... I was just coming to check on Demetrius and Kevin. Gavin, right? " The Racoon walked out and leaned the mop against the wall next to the door, taking small steps toward the Tiger.

Gavin nodded to his question and smiled as he looked up at Damien whose tallness and muscles seemed to over exaggerate in his eyes, "Lords Demetrius and Kevin are having a bath at the moment," That made Damien's tail twitch in annoyance, knowing full well what they'd be doing and thinking if now was the best time, "Though soon they will return and be sharing our guest room together. Are you tired?"

"Yes I am, actually." Damien had to admit it; he did have a long day with trying to keep Kevin and Demetrius alive after all.

"Well then I'll take you to our last room we can keep you in." Gavin walked passed Damien, who watched as his tail swirled behind him like a loose ribbon in the wind. Damien was positive that if he'd get some sleep, he would be able to take on the challenges tomorrow with full energy.

After reaching the end of the hall, Gavin opened the last door on the right and stepped in with the Tiger behind him, "Here you are, this is where you'll be sleeping for tonight."

Damien stopped as he took a step into the room and lifted his head to sniff the room. It reeked of a familiar scent...

"This is my room, unfortunately this is the only room I can put you in for tonight." Gavin walked into his room and grabbed one of the folded blankets on the bed.

Damien was shocked as his heart felt punched by an invisible force, was it just pain? Or guilt? "Where are you sleeping?"

The Racoon shrugged and looked up at the Tiger, "In the hallway. Dr. Marshal doesn't like people being on his tables when he isn't there, so when we have guests I usually have to give up my room and sleep in the hallway."

Damien wasn't sure how to react to this quite yet, he knew by just standing and looking down at Gavin that he was taking his bed and room away from him, which only brought a pounding guilt feeling into his gut and made his eyes wonder the room. Gavin was young but not too young for Damien's standards, it made him blush at the thought of having his large paws on those slender hips and looking up at him as-WOAH!

What the hell am I thinking...?

"Lord Damien...?" Gavin looked up at the Tiger with innocent eyes which sparkled in the torchlight, they looked so beautiful that he wanted to touch that face and kiss those lips tenderly against his. Again, the thought made him blush even more. He didn't know what was worse, that he was blushing like an idiot and feeling a butterfly feeling fluttering in behind his chest armour, or that there was an uncomfortable tightness around his pelvic area.

"Uhh..." That's all you can say? You idiot!

Gavin looked around awkwardly and cleared his throat, shifting his weight and passing the large Tiger to reach the door, "Well," He said as he reached for the door handle, craning his head to look Damien in the eyes, "I'll leave you to sleep. Goodnight, Lord Damien."

He slipped out as quickly as possible and left Damien alone with such a major flutter in his stomach and a hard on so unbearable it made him quiver in pleasure. Damien looked around the room, it wasn't small enough for it to feel too tight to move around, but it surely felt unfamiliar to him. He's never usually slept in another room but his own. He inhaled and just felt overwhelmed with the smell of Racoon, he walked to the bed and noticed it got stronger-clearly because he's slept in it.

Was it wrong to sleep here in his bed? Or was it wrong to even take shelter here when he wasn't even planning on sleeping here?

Sitting on the bed with a hard on was what made it all uncomfortable, especially when it wasn't even his own room he was in. He had to get his mind off of it, to make the blood in his throbbing cock go down so he could get some sleep. But what could he do...? He looked around, noticing paintings that looked like it was painted by a new artist-probably his own-and a couple books on the shelf next to the door. Well that won't do much for him, Damien doesn't read a lot.

He sighed and looked at the end table, finding a hard cover book with a bent page half way through it. Must have been a book mark.

"I wonder what you read..." Damien spoke to himself in a low purr, grabbing the book in front of a lit candle and laying it on his lap, opening it to the bent page and laughing to himself as he saw the title.

Cinderella, Damien never took Gavin as the 'prince charming fairytale' type, which is why it made everything about the Racoon so... so...CUTE!

Damien new that he was having an attraction to Gavin which, in his position as Elite Guard, he knew he wasn't allowed. He would be banished from the kingdom if King Alexander found out, or worse! But... he didn't care. Damien had enough power over the King as it is-seeing that he can ruin him now. Besides, Damien felt ready to settle down. Re-reading the story from the beginning, Damien's hands began to un-strap the armour he was wearing until he no longer had anything on his chest but bare fur. Damien hated to sleep in his armour, last time he had to do it made him have aches in all joints in his shoulders.

He then led himself on the bed fully and leaned against the pillow as he read the story, smiling in some parts that he found cute and couldn't help but think about Gavin while blushing.

The door knocked twice and opened, catching the Tiger off guard, "I'm so sorry Lord Damien if you're sleeping, but I forgot my-" He paused as his eyes glazed over the body of the strong built warrior laying on his bed, his cheeks turning red instantly, "Book..."

Damien realized he was half naked and cleared his throat, looking around the room to avoid that gaze that was all over him right now, "Ah, sorry, I don't normally sleep in my armour."

"My book!" Gavin seemed flustered as he rushed over to Damien but stopped half way as he knew he would not grab it away from him, that would be rude.

Damien chuckled as he now focused on the book, "I never took you as a fairy tale reader. You like this one?" He referred to Cinderella, holding up the open book and smiling his bright white smile.

"I... I don't like fairy tails." He was lieing and Damien could see that instantly as his body said it all, it seems when he crosses his arms stubbornly it just shows how he lies, the blushing was also the other sign of him lying. Well, that or he just really liked what he saw.

Damien sat up with his legs over the bed, closing the book and getting up to walk a couple steps toward the stubborn Racoon, holding out the book at arm length, "Here," He said, "I assume this was what you wanted?"

Gavin complied by sighing and walking in with slumped shoulders, walking across the torch lit room and grabbing the book out of that large paw. He looked around before looking back into the Tiger's eyes slightly, "It's one of my favourites."

Damien smiled and moved over from his spot, patting the mattress beside him, "Why don't you read me your favourite."

Gavin thought for a moment before smiling, greedily plumping down next to Damien and opening the book on his lap.

When leaving the water, the cool breeze almost made Demetrius want to forget getting out and just dive right back into the hot water. Kevin practically grabbed the robe that was folded on the ground and covered his wet body, locking himself in a tense frame so he could feel the body heat replace the night breeze. The Husky laughed a little under his breath and took his time to shake his bare fur before slipping into his pant armour, not bothering to put on his chest plating for that took too much effort. A long day was given to Demetrius, long enough for his body to crave sleep and relaxation in a soft bed, with his lover. Grabbing Kevin, Demetrius hoisted Kevin into his arms and walked the length from the geyser to the hut.

He held Kevin tightly so that he could feel his body heat radiating off his body, that way he could be warm enough to stand the night breeze. It seemed that it was finally the time for Arella to be changing seasons from summer to winter, and Demetrius could smell it from the scent of the decaying trees and shrubbery around him as he walked through the path.

Kevin's eyes were closed and his breathing seemed to have slowed to a resting pace, he fell asleep that quickly? Demetrius laughed and pushed through the door into the hut, his damp tail following slowly behind him as he walked down the hall till he came to his and Kevin's room. The room was dimly lit by a candle on the end table next to the bed, giving the room a nice soothing feel that Demetrius would always get when he sat next to a fire, watching those flames crackle in their untamed dance. Demetrius' heart was warm now as he crossed the carpet to reach the bed, laying Kevin on the bed and pulling the cover from the bottom of the bed over his sleeping body. He brushed his claw over Kevin's face like a light feather and smiled as he looked down at him, feeling his own face burn from blushing too much.

Then he felt a tear run down his muzzle as the burn of tears threatened to fall. Demetrius hated crying like a lost child, but he couldn't help but not feel like he had anything better to do, because he loved being next to Kevin's side so much he could make a deal with a devil and throw his soul away for him. This could be the night Kevin may make his decision. He had to; the suspense would kill him if he didn't. But he's asleep and the Husky didn't want to ruin it for him after their last night of love.

Kevin deserves this night with Demetrius one more time before he made his decision whether to stay or not. So he just smiled and pulled the covers off of Kevin, crawling in front of the Human and pulling his body into his own, letting his face rest into the chest fur and having an arm tightly wrapped over him, pulling the cover over both of them and savouring the scent of Kevin one last time before he drifted to sleep.

Another tear falling down from his eyes again...

"His body has reached a fever I've never seen before." The male voice he heard was unfamiliar and low, sighing under the amount of pressure he sensed in his voice.

"We've applied ice to his body and still his temperature seems to keep rising. I've never seen a temperature reach 105 degrees before. He's on the verge of dying." This time it was a female whisper that drew him closer to it more than the male voice. The sense of fear and worry in her voice was extremely noticeable though, so he was beginning to question where he was.

"He's in a coma, his temperature is rising rapidly, and we've tested him for almost every possibility we could come up with. I'm afraid we may have something new on our hands that haven't been studied yet." The male voice leaned his hands on the side of him, feeling the surface he was laying on bend in that direction.

"The only things I've heard him say were 'Demetrius', that's it. He must be dreaming at least." The female touched his arm, it was a warm touch and he tried to gather all his strength to focus on that one spot.

"It must be a family friend or something. We're going to have to tell his parents he may be on the verge of dying." Replied the male; the stress rising in his voice again.

"His mother is crying-!"

"I know!" He cut her off and clenched his hands tightly enough for him to hear them, "But we have no other solution to this. It's something I've never dealt with before."

There was silence for a few minutes, the warm feeling on his arm now left and there was footsteps leaving away from him and making everything in this black space he was floating in silent and exhausting. He heard a faint beeping sound and a slight hissing from something around him, but he couldn't quite make out what it was when all that he could see was a black space. He felt lonely here, and he suddenly had the urge to want that woman's touch again so he wouldn't have that horrible feeling.

He felt lost. Hopeless in the blankness he was feeling and the heat that was excruciatingly unbearable in this black sauna he was drifting in. The surroundings around him seemed to feel as if he were in a heater or an oven, toasting his body to a crisp.

There was a slight shuffling sound coming towards him now and he knew who it was by recognizing the sound of his footsteps, "hey, Kevin." Derik's voice was soft and concerning, hearing the hint of crying in his voice but he was unsure if he was right or not, "The doctors told us you may be dying bro', and uh... I just came in here to see you." His voice cracked and a sob escaped his mouth, "Please, Kevin, Don't die... I don't know what's wrong with you but please, PLEASE, don't die."

Derik grabbed Kevin's hand and all he could do was focus his strength on that touch again. He wanted to squeeze back so he could respond to his interaction but somehow it was as if when he tried, his arm would never respond. "I'm sorry I called you gay, I'm sorry if I've been a mean brother to you, I'm sorry for anything I've done to you! Just please don't die, I can't live without you not being here with Mom and Dad and I. Please Kevin, Mom and Dad are yelling at the doctors right now and telling them they need to wake you up. But they keep saying they can't... So that means you have to. Okay?"

Again, he tried to squeeze his hand, but failed to get a reaction out of his muscles.

"We love you, Kevin. Please come back..." He sobbed and everything suddenly went silent...

Damien always woke up early, he couldn't help it how his body was set that way. His eyes fluttered open and the room he was in grew blurry and disfigured, which he hated because he couldn't see his surroundings. Blinking hard would just make his eyes water so he would bring and arm up to rub them dry so that way no liquid would get in the way of his vision. When he gained his vision back, he was surprised at what he was looking down at.

Gavin, the Racoon from last night who gave the warrior his bedroom, was cuddling his small body up against Damien's large muscular body. Damien couldn't help but also notice his other arm was holding the Racoon tightly close to his half naked body, which meant the warm feeling in his stomach was just stabbing into his heart like someone taking a searing hot needle and stabbing it though him. Gavin was sound asleep against him, his little frame rising and lowering from every breath intake and his nose twitching slightly from the unfamiliar scent that was entering his nostrils. Damien blushed like an idiot and smiled as he brought both his arms around him now, holding Gavin close to him as if he wanted him to feel safe in his arms.

The book in the Racoon's small hands was still open against the Tiger's chest, so Gavin and Damien must have fallen asleep from all the reading they'd done last night. The room had a small cold drift entering from the bottom of the door crack, and by the smell of the air around him Damien could tell winter was coming around the corner. The sound of wind that was coming from outside were loud as they pounded against the huts walls. That must have been what woke the Tiger up in the first place.

The way things were right now was perfect for Damien, he was cuddling with someone he felt feelings for and he had no shame about it! Although, being an Elite Guard who isn't supposed to be doing this, breaking the rules behind the Kings back made him feel uneasy-even if Damien had proof to take him off his throne. The only question remains in the back of his mind and he knows he'd have to answer it soon before it goes any further.

Is this right?

Humphrey couldn't have been more amused than he was now in all his years. The King and him were inside the Kings study alone and by the way the King Panther paced around the room the old Rat could tell he was beginning to feel anxious. Demetrius wasn't back yet, and with Krystella's mother being here, this made matters worse. The King walked in a long stride around his brown desk in front of the fireplace, the fire illuminating every shelf that stood tall against the walls and feeding the room its only light source. The Study had barely any window sills inside, so infiltrating the Kings study would prove hard for any intruder.

"Krystella is asking about Demetrius." The King huffed a sigh and stopped, leaning himself against the desk and feeling his heart beat harder against his chest. "Worst of all, we haven't heard back from that Assassin."

"I'm... Sure she took care of it, my Lord." Humphrey's crooked smirk was hidden away from the King, but the sight of him like this still made his whiskers twitch.

"She would have come for the reward then if she did." The King retorted and pushed off the desk, resuming his long pace.

"An Assassin needs to hide in shadows after they strike their target." Humphrey was surprised at how that come out right, he knew he made that up to make the King settle down, but still, it made him realise how long he's worked for the King to become so good with excuses.

"It's been long enough already, damn it!" The King roared, his claws exceeding from their places and showing clearly to Humphrey that he was ready to strike anything that came into his path. The King hasn't become this aggressive before in all the years the Rat knew him, this was obviously getting to the core of his anxiety. Humphrey chuckled into his breathing, his lips finally stretching into a grin. This was definitely amusing him.

"Then how do you plan to go about this then, my Lord? In a couple hours Madam Crawford expects to see her son to be engaged to a lovely woman. And on top of that, Lady Krystella expects you to have everything under control." Alexander spun on his heels and looked hard into Humphrey's eyes, his breathing becoming rasped and hard. The boiling blood that was rising inside him must be close to be bursting a vessel, which again, almost shocked the Rat if he wasn't already amused enough as is. The King Panther took short steps up to Humphrey and stood in front of him with his hands clenched and chest out, showing his dominance and power over the servant-but Humphrey wasn't worried, the King was the same size as the Rat.

"Humphrey," The King breathed hard, "If you're trying to help me with this situation than you're failing miserably."

"I am merely trying to inform you about the problem you have in front-."

"I know what my problem is! Instead of standing there like a simpleton, why don't you do something more useful around here!"

That burned. But still, Humphrey held himself still, "Like what? my Lord." Was that attitude? Did Humphrey just give the King attitude?

The King smirked, his white teeth brightly showing in the shadows.

Kevin woke up first and managed to untangle himself in the arms of his lover, standing up and leaving the room with a robe wrapped tightly around his bare skin. The hallway was quiet, which he was thankful for honestly since he was just exhausted from the night he's had. Talking to someone was just something that didn't feel like an option anymore in this moment.

Walking was hard as well as each step felt like it was too much effort to make. Kevin wanted to go back to sleep but truly wanted to think about what he was going to do with his life. About either staying here with Demetrius, or going back to his family.

To his home.

It was a hard decision to make and it was digging into his mind all night after he and Demetrius made love.

"Ahh, Kevin!" So much for being alone. Spinning around, Kevin was greeted by the Lizard who helped save his life yesterday.

"Dr. Marshal, you're up?" That was a stupid question, but at least he's talking now.

"Yes! I actually just got back."

"You were out? Were you out all night?"

"Oh, heaven's no! I just came back from the Eternal Lake."

Kevin was confused as he never heard that name before. Although he may have been still new to the Kingdom, he was never told about a lake being inside it as well. How big was this Kingdom? "Eternal... Lake? I never knew Arella had a lake."

Dr. Marshal chuckled a bit and sighed, "No, the Eternal Lake is just south of Arella. About a ten minute walk from when you leave the Kingdom gates. The Eternal Lake is the place where all souls are said to go when they die. It's a rather beautiful place to be, actually, the shrubbery is rather extravagant and the clear water shines as if it's glowing from the sky's brightness."

Kevin was sure he was able to grasp the scenery in his mind. It sounded peaceful there.

"I'm sorry, Kevin, but I must go. I have preparations to plan for today." He laughed, "They may call me crazy out in Arella, but to be honest, that's just the rumours you hear. You learn to forget about the things people say or care about and just live with your life the way that it makes you happy."

Like him and Demetrius. Kevin realized on the fact how he was worried about being gay all this time that he'd just now realized he didn't care about it anymore. Because he loved Demetrius like he'd never loved anyone else in this world, he wanted to always be in that warm hard grip and bury his face into the soft fur. Just thinking about it was even making him blush. But what overpowered his love for the Husky was his family.

He remembers the dream he had; about his brother Derik talking to him and begging for him not to die, he even felt the touch of his brother. It still lingered on his arm which gave him chills up his spine. The dream may have been a dream but it also felt so... real.

Kevin had to choose between his family, and his lover. One way or another, he would lose the battle. With his temperature rising in his real world, and by the way he felt it in his dream, Kevin knew one thing.

He was running out of time.

Fast.

Returning back to his room where Demetrius was sleeping, Kevin found his clothes and slipped into them quietly as the Husky nuzzled into the bed. Kevin loved him, he loved everything about this Husky, and he even loved the idea of being engaged to him. The time being with him was the time he never wanted to take back, but Kevin had to make a choice.

A choice that will end his suffering and everyone else's around him.

He loved the Husky. He also loved his family.

He loved this world. He also loved his home world.

So now it was time to choose.

It was time to make the hardest decision he ever had to face. But not here, not in front of his lover who was sleeping in front of him. He didn't want to have to face him. Kevin needed to be alone, and there was only one place where he could make his decision.

Grabbing his shoes, Kevin closed the door behind him and left the hut.

Demetrius woke an hour later with a sigh as he got up, his back protesting in a series of cracks as he hefted himself on his arms. He looked beside him as he yawned and noticed the empty space wasn't filled with his lover. Looking around and slowly scanning the room, Kevin's scent was seemingly faint. His clothes were gone, and the robe he was wearing was on the floor next to where his clothes had been.

"Kevin?" The Husky called slowly, then pushed the covers off of himself and slipped into his pant armour, leaving the room with ears perking around and his nose scanning for that familiar scent. It was still faint. Closing the door behind him, Demetrius walked down the hallway quietly.

"Ahh, Lord Demetrius, your awake."

Spinning around, Dr. Marshal had been standing behind the Husky with eyes of wonder, the doctor looked well energized and better from when they last saw each other. "Dr. Marshal," Demetrius sighed, "Have... you seen Kevin?"

The Doctor was surprised by the question as he jerked his head back in confusion, resting his hands on his hips, "You mean he did not go back to your room?"

"No... I'm worried. So you did see him, though?"

"Yes, actually," the Lizard nodded and thought for a moment. "I saw him an hour ago. I was just getting back from the Eternal Lake."

"The Eternal Lake...? Why did you go there?"

"I had to run an errand. Why are you asking questions?"

"Was Kevin suspicious at all this morning? Did he look like he was in thought?"

The Doctor was shocked on how he made that assumption; it appeared the Husky knew a lot about this Human than what he expected, "Well, to think about it he was in deep thought. He was a little curious about the Eternal Lake for a second but I didn't think it mattered-," The Lizard's expression changed immediately, dropping his hands to his sides, "You don't think he went to...."

Demetrius spun on his heels and bolted at full sprint.

Kevin left to the Eternal Lake. Alone.

Driven on the adrenaline in his body, Demetrius only hoped that Kevin wasn't going to do something to try and leave his world without saying...

The Last Goodbye.
