#12 of Changes of the eclipse: Chapter 1
_ I did promise this would be a weekly thing, I just didn't say if they would be close or far apart, and for all of you who are reading Royal Guardian I apologize for that delay too, I was taking a break and then I had this huge writers block and my grades are starting to slip so I don't know when I will update that story. _
_ With that out of the way let's continue to the legal crap, I own all the rights to my own characters and you all know who they are. If you haven't read the other chapters, go back or this won't make sense now on with chapter 12! _
Chapter 12
He took me by surprise and drop kicked me into a table, breaking it, "Ow, that was a cheap shot." I got up to my feet but before I could react, Connor threw a Martelo kick that knocked me onto my back again, "Damn you're fast!" I got up quicker this time and took a stance, Connor just grinned and did the same, "You ready to give up?", "Not a chance!"
He threw a roundhouse kick to my head but I ducked and sweep kicked him onto his back. He reacted quicker than I thought he would and wrapped his legs around mine, forcing me onto my back, "Hmmm... not bad for a wolf.", "You're not so bad yourself."
I was able to get out of his hold and to my feet; he jumped to his and our fight continued. It was back and forth with a series of punches and kicks, it lasted for ten minutes, then it turned to thirty and before we knew it an hour had gone by.
We were too focused to notice the crowd watching us. We were soon out of breath and standing on opposite sides of the room, waiting for one of us to give from exhaustion, "You know... This is the longest fight I have ever been in." I rested my hands on my knees, panting with my tongue hanging out like the canine I had become. I took one look at Connor and saw that he was equally exhausted, "Me too. I've never had to fight this hard against anyone. You ready to give up yet?" I grinned, "Not a chance."
I knew I wasn't going to last much longer and neither was he but I know I have to end this quickly, 'I can't afford to lose this, we need him.' He made the first move and recklessly tried to kick me again, but this time he was much slower. I caught his leg easily and slammed my fist into a pressure point that made him roar in pain, I kicked his leg out from under him and threw him onto the ground. He coughed some blood and I took this chance to finish the fight. I put him in a painful arm bar and pinned him to the ground until he said, "I give, I give."
I grinned and released him from my hold, "Welcome to the team." I helped him up as he dusted himself off, "Thanks, I didn't know you were this skilled in a fight." We headed back to our table, "Thanks, you did pretty well yourself, this has honestly been one of my hardest fights. I had trouble keeping up with your speed." We both looked at the group that was staring at us as we sat down, "What?" They were still staring at us in awe when Garret said, "That was so cool!!!" They all laughed and nodded in agreement. Nate was the first to speak, "Oh yeah so when do we escape?" Everyone looked at me as I shrugged, "Whenever Hannah's friend can get these collars off I guess."
Hannah stood up, "I can talk to her now if you want, her break started a few minutes ago." She pointed to a guard that looked about eighteen. I nodded, "Yeah, tell her to come over here." She waved at Ashley to come over and she sat down, "What's up?"
We all looked at her as I whispered to Hannah, "Can we trust her? I mean with letting her know that we're escaping." She nodded, "Yes, we can trust her, she helped the other prisoners escape and no one has caught her." I nodded and looked back at Ashley, "We are planning to escape, but we need these collars off. Do you know how to turn them off long enough so we can tear them off?"
She looked at us and seemed to be thinking about it until she finally answered the question, "Well at my current rank, I don't have the authority as a guard to shut them off completely but, I can use the emergency reset setting. It turns off all collars for about two seconds but then that's it, if I use it more than that, then Rex will get suspicious. So you've got one shot at this."
I nodded, 'That should be all the time we need. But what about the guards?' I turned back to her, "When is it easiest to get through all the guards?" She thought about this for a minute, "Well Rex is giving a lecture tonight on why we're doing this. Everyone is supposed to go, and the guards that are still on duty should be pretty weak."
I smiled at her, 'This makes the escape that much easier.', "Thank you for that, can you do the emergency reset tonight?" Everyone gave me this shocked look, "What? Tonight would be perfect, or do you want to deal with all those guards for the hell of it?" They calmed down, "That's what I thought. So what time is the lecture?", "About six o' clock."
I looked at her, "Would you be able to do it by then?" She nodded, "But the lecture is only half an hour, so you better get your asses out before then.", "Alright, so we leave tonight." Everyone agreed as Nathan asked, "But what about the cells? How will we get out of them?", "Easy, I already thought of that. Just trust me on this."
He hesitated as he thought it over, "Alright." We all agreed that we couldn't back out now. The guards had announced that breakfast was over and we all went back to our cells. Hours had passed until lunch came, all we did was go over the plan again until lunch was over and another few hours passed.
We were doing idle things to make the time go by, Luke was going over the map, Connor was training, Me, Garret and Nathan were talking, Nate was playing with his knives, Sammy was meditating, and Hannah seemed to be deep in thought.
Another hour had passed and we were ready, "Everyone ready?" they all nodded as they got a grip on their collar, "Ready!" I looked at the clock and counted down to our freedom, '3... 2... 1...'
Sorry about the cliff hanger but I like to keep you all guessing, I hope Gabe and his friends can get out of this one.
