The next morning something just felt off. Seth couldn't place his finger on it, but he just knew today was going to be a bad day. He still hadn't gone through the humans' packs from yesterday, so he decided he should start there.

"Man, these guys must have been total tools." Seth said to himself as he dumped the bags out. These three men had more stupid stuff that you wouldn't need in the military than you could imagine. One guy had a lifetime supply of porn with him, and not much else.

"Hmph, humans..."

The next guy had blades, lots and lots of blades. Everything from throwing stars to a small katana. Though most of it was useless, Seth took a few throwing knives. 'Never know when I might need them.' He thought to himself. The last guy was a bit more reasonable. He had stuff for purifying water, which Seth took, also a camp stove which unfortunately needed magic to work. This was the guy that was using the H.E. rounds, Seth gladly took the few remaining clips that were left. Finally, Seth found a pair of brass knuckles. 'I never liked hand to hand combat, but this would defiantly give me the upper hand.' Seth took that and left everything else.

By this time Seth had completely forgotten about that feeling he had that morning, but was reminded when he took a step and heard a very distinct *CLICK*

'Shit...'

BOOM

The next thing Seth knew he was flying through the air. He landed and slid to a stop on his side. It took every ounce of will power to hold back a scream from the pain coming from his right leg. He almost didn't want to look, but he knew he had to. The sight almost made Seth pass out. He had toured the medic tent and had seen many horrors, but this one was attached to him. There was nothing below his knee other than the shattered remains of his tibia. He was losing a lot of blood and he knew it. His hands were starting to shake and the color was leaving his sight. Seth took his belt off and wrapped it around his leg and pulled it tight before latching it. This time the pain was too much and he couldn't hold back the yelp of pain. At this point he didn't care if somebody heard him; he would be dead before they found him anyways. Seth decided there was nothing more he could do, the edges of his vision were fuzzy and black, and he was starting to get tunnel vision. As his body started to go numb, he laid back and tried to relax as the darkness took him. At the last minute he thought he heard someone, but simply didn't care anymore.

This time everything was white. The same towing figure was approaching him.

"Oi, what are you doing back here?"

"I think I stepped on a land-mine. Am I dead this time?"

"Not yet, you still have important things to do my friend."

"What do you mean impor-" The lights suddenly went out and Seth was aware that he could feel again. It was cold, but he felt heat on his face. He opened his eyes to find himself sitting on the ground leaning on a tree. There was a fire in front of him, but there didn't seem to be anyone else around. He was sure to check the trees, he wasn't about to fall for his own trick. Whoever it was definitely knows medicine; his leg was expertly wrapped and didn't seem to be bleeding any more.

Seth didn't want to hang around though, he didn't know why he was saved, and he didn't want to find out. As he started crawling away, he heard someone from approaching from behind him.

"Where do you think you're going..." 'This is bad' Seth thought to himself, but then the person continued, "...Cutie pie?" 'OH GOD IT'S WORSE THAN I THOUGHT!'

But when the person, who was obviously female judging from her voice, caught up to Seth, she gently placed her hand on his shoulder letting him know it was okay. She helped Seth back to camp so he didn't have to crawl. He didn't have much to say, but finally simply asked, "Why?"

"Well, you're just so cute!" She responded. Seth simply glared at her. "Okay fine, I'm part of the resistance an-" Seth cut her off before she could finish.

"The resistance? What is this some kind of joke? You're a human!"

"Yes, and you're a Basitin. And what may I ask are you doing out here. This is waaay beyond the front line for you guys." Seth simply looked away. He didn't want to think about that right now. "Oh, I'm sorry. You don't have to talk about it. But look, we should regroup with the others. I was scouting when I heard the explosion. There is someone at base who could heal at least part of your leg."

"HA! That's a good one. And how exactly would they do that? Magic?"

"...Yes."

"Oh... But still, magic has its limitations. I highly doubt anyone has the skill to re...grow....." Seth was stopped in his tracks when the women put out her hand for him to see. There was a jagged line going all the way around her wrist. Her hand was very pale, but on the other side of the line her arm was tan.

"I picked up a hand grenade to throw it back but, well I'm sure you can figure out what happened." Seth was dumbstruck. He, nor anyone else, knew that such power existed. He simply nodded and the woman helped him up and they hobbled off into the woods.

"I'm Emma by the way."

"I'm Seth."
