Molly

Molly knew exactly what Hell felt like. It was a place filled with petty squabbling, self-centered, dim-witted girls who felt the need to wear overpriced shoes, with matching hand-bags, to a mansion which was out in the middle of nowhere. Without a single man to notice, they snipped and degraded every girl they saw, building their own images upon the shattered reputations of others. The thought of being in a haunted mansion for a Halloween episode of Sorority Survivor had sounded like such a great idea when Molly had first heard about it. It was, after-all, her second favorite holiday and she was looking forward to having the pants scared off of her. But now she was teamed up with Gina and Rachel... and she had never wished a more grizzly fate upon two less likable people.

"Can you believe the outfit Shelly wore?"

"I know! It clashes so hard!"

"I mean, really, you know she's just trying to look cute, like she knows what she's doing."

"I know!"

"I bet she screams first."

"Like a goose!"

"Honk! Honk!"

"What about Tara?"

"I know!"

"She's like a less sexy Indiana Jones!"

"She looks so stupid!"

"Dorky!"

"Yes! Dorky!"

Kill me, Molly thought as terrible valley-girl giggling erupted from the other girls. Fortunately, the scenery was interesting enough to distract her. There was no possible way their team would win with as loud as these two were, but she could at least appreciate the paintings, the statues, and the way the entire place appeared to have been made for a creepy vampire family.

"Oh... my... god..." Gina suddenly said, "look." Despite her desire to not be here, Molly found herself doing exactly that. "It's that little creepy girl."

"Cindy," Molly heard herself saying, but she stopped when the other two shot her dirty looks.

"Lets prank her," Rachel whispered.

"Oh, great idea," Gina responded in a similar manner.

"Come on, girls," Molly said, "don't-"

"Shut-up, Little-Miss-Perfect," Gina spat with more venom then Molly wanted to deal with.

"Alright, fine," Molly nearly growled. "Go be children, I'm going to go that way and try not to lose my dignity."

"Too late," Rachel giggled and then the two sneaked in the direction of Cindy. Molly felt bad, for whatever these two were about to do would not be very nice. But the quiet of their departure filled Molly with an excitement what carried her down the hall and around the corner. She found some stairs, went to the second level, and only shook her head when she heard the wicked laughter of the two other members of her team.

"Maybe they'll get disqualified and I can get new team-mates," she muttered to herself as she entered a random door and gazed upon an impressive collection of black-cat statues. It did not take long for her to get caught up in the details of them and she did not even notice the closing of the door. As she walked through the rows of graceful creatures she noticed their eyes, their curves, and the way they all seemed to watch her. "Cool," she said quietly.

A slight gasp emitted from her when she turned and witnessed one impressively detailed statue on the far side of the room. Surrounded by a collection of smaller statues, was a ruggedly carved statue of a man with demon-horns and bat-wings. Drawing closer to the creation, Molly stared in awe... unable to look away. The eyes seemed to burn into her soul, making her legs weak, and creating a perverse desire she normally did not feel around artwork. All the rest of the world seemed to slip away for a time and then the sudden ring of a bell told her that somehow she had stood there for over an hour. Shaking the cobwebs out of her head, Molly smiled at the statue and uttered the words, "Damn sexy prince of darkness." A light laugh was hers while she passed the black-cat statues, opened the door, and joined the others at dinner.
