It was really hot in Trevor's room, and Jake was starting to get that aching feeling again. But as he adjusted and tried to push at the big male on top of him, he smelled something...interesting when Trevor's arm hit the pillow. The horse naturally rolled over onto his back, licking his lips in his sleep. He was a very heavy sleeper. Jake leaned in, curiously getting closer to Trevor's big exposed armpit, noticing the short, rough looking fur growing in the crevice. Lifting his own arm, Jake didn't see any hair like that growing on himself yet. Again, the scent hit his nose and Jake leaned in. Exhaling once, he pressed his muzzle into Trevor's armpit and inhaled deep.

The overwhelming musk of Trevor's sweaty armpit lingered deep in his senses as he pulled away, laying his head on the horse's pec. Holding his breath, he groaned, brushing his foot-paws against the bed, inhaling another whiff of the horse's body odor like it was a drug. The scent was different to him, bitter, but blissful. Panting heavily, his tail started to wag, tapping against the bed as he pressed his nose into the damp, wet pubic fur between Trevor's shoulder and side. He felt the sweat dampen his nose and when he pulled away, he noticed the rich scent was still on his nose. Snickering and giggling a little, he lay his head back down, cuddling up to the big teenaged stud, content with the teenaged stud and his heavy scent.

Jake groaned, his eyes a blur. All of a sudden, he felt himself being pulled out Trevor's bed, his foot-paws dragging across the carpet. "I can't believe you Jake! I can't believe you would do this to me!"

The husky pup tried to tug at her paw, "Mom! What's wrong?"

She looked completely ticked off, "What's wrong? You were gone and now I find you with..." Despite how pissed off and angry she seemed, Terra couldn't bring herself to say the bitter words in the back of her throat. Despite everything that had been suddenly dropped in her lap, she still saw Trevor as her son's best friend. As Jake's mom pulled him past Mrs. Veil, Trevor leaped out of bed, wanting to explain everything.

Before her son could chase the two down the stairs, Samantha grabbed him, holding him tight, "Trevor...Trevor! You have to give them some time..." But he didn't care. Actually pushing his mom away, he ran downstairs, out into the rain. By the time he got there, Jake's mom had already forced him in the car and was now driving them away. His face and heart sank, feeling like he was never going to see the husky again.

Jake shrieked, "Mom!" The world quickly became a spinning void filled with darkness, the sounds of rain constantly hitting against the card, and then a bright light and the blare of a horn. Trevor suddenly forgot how to stand as he watched the car Jake and his mom were in spun out of control when they slid past the stop sign. He watched the accident and heard the violent crash and twisting of metal. It all started real fast and ended in a sudden stop. Trevor watched the car start to smoke, rain hitting the pavement of his drive way the only sound he could hear. Kneeling on the ground, he spastically ran his fingers along his snout, breaking out in tears.

Struggling to find his voice, Trevor finally screeched, "MOM!"

TICK...TICK...TICK

Justin's claws scratched against the wooden arm rest of the waiting room chair he was sitting in when the hour hand on the clock finally clicked. Sighing, he franticly put his paw against his cheek. The scene in the hospital room was really starting to get to the young roo sitting there in his pajamas. Seeing Trevor and his mom be able to stay with Jake while he and King had to sit outside was really nerve racking. One of their best friends could die at any time and they couldn't be with him!

Justin nervously started to tap his naturally big foot-paw against the floor and King sighed irritably, "Can you stop that? You're starting to really bug me!"

The roo's foot-paw continued to tap, the sound of his sandals flopping against it really getting on the liger's nerves, "Jakes in there...and...and...he might die! I'm nervous!" They both looked up in time to see the hospital room door shut with a loud click.

King scoffed, "This is your fault!"

Justin's brows furrowed, "My fault? You didn't have to snap at me!"

For a long time they glared at each other. But after a while, the tension finally died down. They both felt that heavy realization that their friend might die and that they shouldn't be fighting like this. The liger perked up, "I can't believe Trev and Jake are..." He lifted his paws and locked them together.

Justin's ears crossed and he lowered his head, choking on a knot in his throat, "Gay?"

"No...well yeah...I meant together!"

"Trev said that they sort of...just found out. I couldn't really understand him because he kept...he kept..." The roo turned away, laying his head into the palm of his paw. He didn't want to break down crying in front of the big, tough guy liger.

King took a long time to think about, burying his head into his paw. And then it suddenly hit him, "Oh...what if he hates me for what I said earlier?"

Justin pulled his paw away from his face, "Are you serious? You're a jerk!" Standing up, the roo smacked his thick tail hard against everything he walked by, dashing off to find a place where he could finally cry without worrying about what King thought of him. He didn't know that King couldn't quite think about the world beyond himself just yet.

The liger was already on the roo's heels. He wrapped his big arm around Justin but his best friend tried to pull away. That was when King received his first welcome to reality. He had a thought. "Hey Justin...I'm sorry." Justin stopped his struggle, leaning against the guy's chest. He suddenly felt...okay, wrapped up in the liger's muscular arms. He felt safe. Closing his eyes, he loved the feeling of King's soft fur over his build and the heat radiating off his body.

Almost losing himself in the big lug, Justin pulled away, "Um...maybe we should go back..."

King tried to straighten out his face to look tough, "Yeah...yeah you're right." As they turned the corner, the liger swallowed hard. Gazing over his shoulder to see if anyone might be watching, he reached out his paw, nervously cuffing it around the roo's hip, grabbing a hold of a bit of the male's butt. They walked like that down the long white hall, Justin's tail happily tapping against the liger's legs, hiding the blush on his cheeks.

Back in the room, Jake's body rattled and his paw latched onto Trevor's wrist. This was the first time the husky had moved since he came out of the ER and it terrified Trevor. His body strained and tightened up, every muscle in his young body starting to spasm. The heart monitor went crazy. Sam franticly ran out the door shouting, "Nurse? Nurse!"

Trevor felt helpless, standing over Jake's rattling body. And then he went deathly still and the beep of the monitor dragged on. "Jake? Jake! JAKE!" Jake's chest stopped rising and falling, the sounds of his assisted breathing device gone. Jake was gone...
