#1 of Black Skies

The first 2 chapters are yiffless, sorry. But #3 has some; bear with the lack of it until then. The pattern will most likely be no, no, yes, no, no, yes, yes, no. That's as far as I have it planned out.

Chapter 1: Breakout

"Hide, Ceri, I'm not risking my ass just for you to get killed." Mikal shouted to the young lion. Frantically, he looked around the dark room. "Behind the filing cabinet." The lion swiftly jumped behind the metal cabinet and crouched. The twenty year old fox, loaded another clip in a submachine gun. Turning from his cover, he fired at several guards randomly firing into the room. "Close your eyes, kid," Mikal called out, throwing a flash grenade into the doorway.

The grenade exploded in a bright flash of light blinding the guards. "Go, now. Through the window!" Mikal stepped in front of a large plate glass window and smashed it with his gun. Glass shattered and fell to the ground below.

"Are you insane? That's like a 100 foot drop, no way." Mikal nudged him to the window ledge; Mikal pulled his paw through his grayish head fur. "No, I'll die!" With a push Mikal shoved Ceri through the window, Mikal following the lion seconds later. Ceri panicked screaming as he plummeted. Mikal looked calm as he dropped his only worry was what was at the bottom of the building.

Falling for only seconds, that felt like minutes the two furs landed into an old dump truck filled with sheets and pillows. Ceri rubbed his head as he climbed to the top of the piles. Mikal emerged with a walkie-talkie in his paw. "Oasis, this is the Mik' we are in the truck, let's move."

The trucks engine started and the vehicle lurched forward. "Confirmed, Mik', is the objective intact?" The truck turned onto a road and suddenly halted.

Placing a hand on Ceri's head, he rubbed the kid's red hair. Mikal responded. "Yeah, he's okay. Why are we stopped?"

"Road block, seems that the 56 aren't gonna let us just drive out of here."

"Just drive through it this truck can crush any little road block."

"It's a solid concrete wall, Mikal. I'm going to set an explosive. Watch my back.

"Here." Mikal threw Ceri a pistol and readied his SMG. "Let's go." Mikal jumped out of the truck, pulling the lion out afterwards. The two ran toward the barrier. Oasis, a 22 year old female snow leopard, knelt next to the wall assembling the bomb. "Stay behind the truck. Shoot only if it necessary and DO NOT leave this cover." Mikal pushed Ceri towards the stopped truck.

Three guards ran down the streets, guns still holstered. The fox fired a five shot burst at the approaching guards. Three went wide missing the enemies. Two hit the guard to the left in the chest. He stopped stunned as red ichors began to pour from the wounds, then tumbled backwards and fell onto the asphalt, blood collecting under his corpse. The two remaining guards dived behind a crate.

The guard fire cautiously at the fox, only peeking to fire a single shot at a time.

"Do you have a grenade in the truck, Oasis? These asses aren't gonna move, useless I make 'em."

"Yeah. It's on the passenger seat," Oasis mumbled, having several wire clenched in her jaw. Mikal opened the door and grabbed the grenade. He pulled the pin and threw it behind the crate. The guards saw the fragmentation device and ran.

"Idiots." Mikal said as he fire at the retreating guards, hitting them in the upper back. Both bodies fell face first onto the road. Mikal waited a minute, "Where is the explosion... Oasis?"

"Oh yeah, I had to remove the explosive to make the bomb. It's ready now."

"What if... fine let's go, Ceri get in the back." Ceri complied and hurried into the truck's bed. "I'm going to be in there too, Oasis, providing a defense against anymore 56."

"Okay." Oasis hoped into the driver's seat and Mikal leapt into the back with Ceri. Oasis turned the ignition and put the truck in reverse; the large pickup moved away from the wall. "I'm setting off the bomb. Watch out for debris." Pushing a button, Oasis ducked under the dashboard as the concrete crumbled. Large chunks flew two yards; smaller pieces of stones went farther. "The road is clear." The vehicle lurched forward over the crumbled obstacle.

Oasis pushed the accelerator to the floor board, speeding their getaway car to 90 miles per hour and faster still. The truck shook as it raced through streets. "Hey, slow down, we can't risk running down civilians," Mikal shouted into the radio. The truck slowed slightly as it neared a corner. The snow leopard turned the wheel quickly making the truck nearly tip over. Ceri was thrown against the side railing.

Ceri shook his head and looked at Mikal who leaned against the side scanning the area with his gun. "Watch out!" The lion called out, grabbing the fox and pulling him back. They landed in a pile of sheets; almost simultaneously as bullets filled the space Mikal had just stood.

"How the hell did you know that... tha... keep your head down, okay?" Mikal nudged Ceri down. He peered over the side of the truck and saw a car chasing them. "Oasis, we have a car following us, probably carrying soldiers. How soon till we're clear?"

"Umm... if we take a right, right now!" The truck swerved, tossing the lion and fox to the other end of the truck bed. Loud snaps and crashes came from all sides. A sudden bump the truck was cast into the air and flipped forward before landing into a pool of water. The vehicle sunk slowly with its occupants still inside.

Oasis came to the surface holding the truck's steering wheel in her paw. Tossing it over her shoulder, she looked left and right for Mikal and the lion boy. Far to her right she saw the lion struggling threw the water, with something being pulled behind him. Oasis swam toward him, as she came closer she could see it was Mikal, unconscious from a hit to the head. "I'll take him. Hurry over there." Oasis pointed to a pipe opening in the bank. The two swam with the fox being dragged along.

Ceri pulled himself into the pipe, turning to help pull Mikal in. Oasis gripped the edge and forced herself up. Exhausted she spoke, "We're safe, for now. We can follow this pipe. It'll take us to an old water treatment building. They won't look for us that far away." Oasis threw her long black head fur over her shoulders. "We should try to wake him; I don't think I could carry him all the way. You couldn't either, I'm guessing."

Ceri and Oasis tried to wake Mikal.

"Why won't he wake up? He's not dead, is he?" Ceri looked sadly at Mikal who was sitting propped against the pipe's wall. A tear streamed across the lion's fur, falling onto Mikal's bruised face.

"He's fine." Oasis comforted the young lion. She really didn't know. She had stopped the bleeding. He had a pulse and was breathing fine, but she couldn't be sure, what else happened to him. He could have a broken neck. "He's probably just sleeping now; escaping from a heavily armed facility like that has to be tiring." She looked back at Mikal and sighed. He doesn't believe me, the snow leopard thought.

"I can carry him, he needs to get help. I will." Ceri looked at the snow leopard, who looked at Mikal with tear-filled eyes. "Your name is Oasis, mine is Ceri." He extended his paw. She looked at his greeting paw and raised her own, Ceri squeezed his fingers.

"Are you sure you can do this?" Oasis asked eyes darting from the lion to the fox.

"I know I can, and I will do what I need to."

"Okay." Oasis stood up. Ceri walked to Mikal and pulled him onto his back. Taking a few steps, he stopped to readjust the weight and continued down the pipeline. "May I say...? Ceri, you are very duteous. Something furs your age aren't"

Ceri looked at Oasis confused.

"It's a compliment... don't worry. It should only be three miles. Sure you can hold out?"

Ceri just nodded.
