DRAGON SPAWN

Chapter 1

An unexpected trip

A day like any other day, I was in a class taking a test. All of a sudden a blood red hole opened under and engulfed me. Feeling as if all life was pulled from me, I weakly looked around and with widened eyes realized, I was falling in an immanent nothing. The only thing accompanying me was blood red liquid like substance. I reached a trembling hand to grab it.

Then all of a sudden, I stopped, my feet hit hard crunchy ground and my knees buckled from the impact. I opened my eyes and observed my surroundings. I saw that the trees were taller than the ones I have ever seen. The grass was as dark as coal and crunched under my boots. The air was so clean I felt as if I could run for miles and not grow tired.

Then out of the cool clean air, I heard a scream. I looked in the direction it came from, looked for a weapon and grabbed a small branch, and took off running. When I got to were I believed the scream emanated from a girl about five to five and half feet tall, blonde hair, pale skin, and tattered clothes was being attacked by what looked like a tall black long armed tree like man about six feet tall. I charged at the thing to hit it when it turned and picked me up and studded me for a good minute. After thrashing and getting a good hit in at its head, it threw into a tree and ran.

I got up and went to the girl. She had fainted I guessed after she had screamed. I picked her up and cared her to a small clearing were I decided to make camp. When the camp was stable with a couple of lean-toes I got a small fire going and stayed up to keep an eye out for the monster till dawn. As dawn approached, I went down to the river to catch some fish. With three fish in a line made with my right boot's string I headed up to camp. When I got back the girl was up and about to leave when I said, "You going to leave without eating.'' She turned shocked and tried to run but tripped and feel flat on her face. I went to her, sat her by the fire, and convinced her to stay, in silence, we waited until the fish where done cooking, and we ate.

When we were done, we dowsed the fire and made introductions. "My name is Steve and yours?" "Crystal," she said. I went out in the woods to take care of some privet maters. When I got back, she got startled, flung a rock, and hit me in the upper arm. "Ouch! What in the heLL are you thinking, that Fucking hurt!" I yelled.

"I'm so sorry; I thought you were a tree-man.," said Crystal hiding a smirk "it's okay" I rubbed my arm and looked at her with a little disgust in my eyes "you were startled." I rubbed the dark black brews and winced as pain went to my shoulder.

Chapter 2

Two new allies

We set off around noon. Before we gained twenty-five yards or so we meet our old friend Mr. Tree-man, but this time he had a friend about two times his size. I collected my remaining courage and broke the small branch (that I had from the previous encounter) on the tall tree-man's side. I backed a way to see what affect it had I lost the last of my nerve for all it did was piss it off. It struck me, as I backed away, in the leg with a three-inch wooden spike. I fell back against a rock with a cry of pain and Crystal ran next to me. I clutched my injured leg, with terror on Crystal and my faces as we looked on towards our attackers. As the tree-men got closer, the tall one pulled out a sharp four-foot wooden spear and before anyone could react, a fireball came flying at the tall one from the forest.

I grabbed Crystal and threw her behind me to shield her from the rain of burning splinters that came from the explosion when the fireball hit the tall tree-man. Then out of the fire came dull thuds of metal on wood; I heard a quick and high screech, then silence. We were about to go, when a tall dark haired man with dark red leather armor came around the fire and asked, "Are you two all right?" "Yes, but my friend hear has a bad cut from the tall one," said Crystal "Well we should fix him up" he said.

"Hey! Stop I am fine, what are you going to do with that sword? GET AWAY FROM ME!" I screamed terrified as the stranger approached me with a red-hot sword used to close the wound when Cristal went to get the three-inch splinter out of my leg. "Hey! That hurts, stop I can get it out myself" I said. "Stop struggling" said the stranger "or it will hurt worse." "Almost....got it!" said Crystal with one final pull she pulled out the shared of wood. With a smirk she said " there you're ok now." "Speck for yourself you didn't just get stuck with a red hot sword" I said as I wrapped my leg with the cloth she handed me.

After the little struggle the stranger introduced him self as Chris. "Chris what are you doing in the dark wood?" asked Crystal. "I'm hunting The Black Dragon." "Black Dragon?" I asked. "Yes. The Black Dragon is a monster with shredded wings each twelve feet long , a tale fifteen feet long with three inch spikes on the tip, it breaths fire up to one hundred and seventy feet. It is responsible fore over three hundred deaths." I was quite with terror.

Over time we had to fight more tree-men, wererats [five foot rats], and werewolves. We had gotten stronger and faster. After ten days, we passed through three towns that had seen the dragon. We had gotten three horses and supplies at the fist town (Crystal tout me to ride.) In every town, people were missing and buildings were destroyed.

A day after we set out on the dragon hunt I was out getting stones for a fire ring when I saw a bright red round rock. After we had the fire, going the red rock started to shake. "It's a dragon egg," shouted Chris as he pulled out his broad sword. He swung his blade down but stopped as I stepped in the way and scooped up the egg. I looked at him with a what-are-you-thinking look. "This creature could be useful," I said as it poked its head out of the egg. Hi, my name is Charley what is yours. "I am Steve and these are my friends Chris and Crystal. Guys this is," Charley nice to meat you two. "How is he talking?" they asked in unison. I speak telepathically said Charley. I am a special kind of dragon. When I touched, his head my palm started to burn and I jumped back with a scram, my hand felt as if it had knife in it. At that moment, Charley blew a stream of smoke from his nostrils as if he might be in pane. When I looked at my hand, the palm was charcoal black with star on it.

Chapter 3

Dragons fight and an unwanted way home

Three weeks after we got Charley we had visited six destroyed villages and seven under repair. Charley was now the size of a minivan, with wings twelve feet long, his tail was ten feet, his neck five feet, and could breathe fire one hundred and sixty-five feet. One day when Charley got back from hunting a man from the village came into our camp and said "Dragon.... destroying...... village" and died from a three-foot gash on his back. Chris and Crystal had lifted to get supplies at the village before the villager came to get us. "Charley" I yelled from my mind. "Going" said Charley as he took off as I swung on his back.

When we got there, Chris and Crystal were pinned by the big dark black house long dragon. It was about to breathe fire when Charley and I were in its face with the stare back-off-or-face-the-consequences. It moved closer and then Charley blow fire right in the dragons face. Not even the dragons own mother would love the face now (I think.) It turned and hit us with its spiced tell (which cot us off guarded) and pulled us until I cut off the tip of the dragons tail. We chased the dragon and blew fire when it got in rang of us. We hit it twice on the left wing and ones on the tail.

It led us to the mountains (its territory) and vanished. We looked for only five minutes when a roar came from above. The dragon dove from the sky with its teeth bared coming right at us. Charley let out a blast of fire, and hit him dead on and then he struck the dragon with his spiked tale. Before the dragon hit the ground, Charlie and I dove after him and tore off the dragons wings with Charlie's talons and it fell to its doom in a pit.

For weeks, Charlie and I went all around sealing caves and other openings bigger than a small dog. A grueling task that seemed to never end, when the last of the caves and other openings were sealed we laughed and cheered for we were done, after a good three days of resting and feasting on unlucky creatures to cross us, we headed back to the village.

When we arrived at the village Chris and Crystal had the villagers repairing there decimated village. When we landed the villagers thronged over to us, cheering, and rejoicing in the middle of the village. I raised the wings of my fallen foe and the crowd exploded more and louder cheers. Then out of nowhere as if on cue, the blood hole opened behind me and engulfed me. Again, the life feeling as if being pulled out of me, the red swirls still going down, but it felt like being crushed. When I stopped, I was back in my class in the middle of the test. No time had passed, I turned in my test and went back to my seat and felt an object in my pocket. To my joy I found the peace of eggshell, I had placed in my pocket at Charlie's birth.
