Yggdrasil's Dream is my entry to the Dragons Lair "This is Me"-Challenge. In short: This is me.

The following is my very own entry to theDragons Lair This is Me-Challenge.

I was not sure if I should take part at all, but in the end an idea struck me on how to tell who I am.

In norse mythology Yggdrasil is the world tree around which the nine worlds dwell. I chose a metaphorical approach and so let me tell you the story of the dreaming leaves. My story is the story of:

Yggdrasil's dream

There was once a tree, beautiful and for eternity meant to be. So tall it connected heaven with hell, from its crown leaves fell. As they fell the leaves were dreaming. Rustling in the wind, whispering full of meaning ...

They all dreamt a common dream. Sometimes they touched, falling together, dancing happily on sun's rays, so it might seem.

... echoing in the shadow under the tree: "Are you still searching for who you are, or are you who you want to be?"

"Use it well! Use it well! Before you are no longer falling, but realize that you fell!"

"It is not an unchangeable scheme ... Do not dream your life, but live your dream!"

Paths cross and paths part. But beware! Nothing is forever. "Please, do not leave me ...", "Never!"

A promise nobody can keep. Do you smile happily or do you sob yourself into sleep?

Have you used your time at its best? Do you cherish, or do you want your soul to finally rest?

Nothing will tell you the truth, but a watch that no longer shows the time. All that counts is one moment that became eternity. "Is such a moment mine?"

Use a broken watch to find the truth. It shows you one moment that is forever. Resist the ticking of the clock, or how do you want to find peace, except ... never?

This world holds so many scales, but none that can measure a life. Don't bow to the scale of time, it is a cause of so much strife.

Gift a beloved one a moment that never seems to end. Time passes too quickly. All you got is only lent.

Grant the gift of a broken clock, but be swift! Any time the grim reaper may knock.

I remember falling at least one time before. The towering skies, the endless winds, they once were my lore.

Realize that there is not only one tree, but a whole forest of dreaming eternity. This is your chance, this is your choice. In your choice you are free!

May out of the remains of all the leaves that fell, at the base of Yggdrasil and every other life, roses dwell.

There is not one leaf, but many. I am one leaf of many. There is not one tree, but many. I am the one who chooses. I choose who I want to be. This choice ... this is me.
