Okay chapter 2, this is a fresh copy so hopefully less grammar issues and spelling mishaps (I'm know for that), This chapter is the first time modern tech and the Phoenix, and it being some type of religion is first brought up. I hope you all like this chapter, I'm going to try to update the story with short chapters once a week, but I can't swear that it will happen that way.

The mouse girl sighed in relief finally made it to The town house of the noblemen Sir Gallmen. She didn't know if her luck was good or bad today. The Dragon who saved her just less than an hour ago from a pack of wolves and even given her back the message. Walking up the stairs to the door, looking over the impressive house. The townhouse wasn't at all large by noble standards but it was much bigger than common people could afford in a town. Taking her small paw she gripped the large door knocker picking it up and letting it fall three times. Waiting for the door to be answered she peaked around the house. It was simple, yet was finely crafted. The noble who had this house built did not care about showing there wealth as some love to flaunt. Anyone could tell that the the house was built to high standards by looking at how the stone bricks inner locked so tightly together.

"How may I help you... Miss" A males neutral tone voice came from where the door used to be closed. The mouse jumped a little having not seeing the door open as she was looking at the house. "Oh Sorry I'm Calindra from the messenger guild, I have a message for Sir Gallmen" she quickly told the canine breed. She quickly noted that he was most likely the man servant of the noble. The dog held out his paw "I'll hand it to him" said in the same annoying tone, making it hard to judge what was going through the mans head. "It's a first class message, I need to hand it to him myself" The dog nodded "Come in but wait here" he said letting Calindra walk in the door before closing it behind her. The door was big but was well cared for, no squeaking or anything as it closed. The Servant walked off leaving her in a small room or hallway. She sighed and closed here eyes, before taking a look around. The 'welcome' area wasn't as bare as the outside was, having a painting on one of the walls of Gallmen or one of his ancestors. A human man with dark brown hair that was long, with a wide build. She could tell he was a warrior, having earned the title of noble by the looks of him in the painting. She knew some nobles did alter there paintings but she had heard things about this Gallmen, so she didn't think the painting was altered.

"Follow me Miss Calindra" The canine said in his neutral tone voice out of no where again. She didn't jump as bad but still a little. "Oh okay" she said following the canine to the study. The room was large and well lit with book shelves on both sides with a desk in the middle. She heard the hum of electricity from the electric lighting. Looking up to see the lighting her mouth dropped open slightly. She had seen electric lighting before but only in public buildings and guild houses, never in a private home even for a noble it was unheard of. Electric lighting was on of the few tech not out right outlawed by the Phoenix's commandments but it was so hard to make the bubbles and elements that it was expensive to maintain.

Looking behind the desk, the man was a human in his later years, easily in his sixties, old for human standards, much older than most of her kin get. The man didn't look any less imposing than he did in his painting. His hair was white yet still full and cut shorter, his winkled face still held the hard warrior look in the painting but harden even more with age. Reluctantly she walked up to the desk "Sir Gallmen I have a message from Mistress Athden" She told him before taking out the scroll from her leather bag. Taking the scroll she would hand it to him over the desk. He had a poker face on, even worse than his dog servant unable to read him. Taking the scroll from her, breaking the hard red wax seal with a twist of the scroll, letting clumps of it fall onto his desk. Looking down he skims the letter, his face not showing any emotions as he reads. Calindra stood waiting to be dismissed or ask to deliver another message. Often she would be asked to deliver a new message or have someone pick up a message later in the day. She hoped she would be dismissed because what ever the message had on it was something someone wanted or didn't want Gallmen to have."Well this isn't good" The old man mumbled to himself. Looking back at the mouse girl "How much trouble did you get your tail into delivering me this?"

The mouse girl looked a little puzzled, that was really the first time a noblemen had put any interest in how the message got to them "Um, it wasn't easy Sir, It seems people knew about the message and who was carrying it. I was attacked on the road by bandits, and today a pack of wolfs in the town chased me wanting the message... I wouldn't be standing here with the message if This one dragon didn't stop them" she said knowing better than to lie to a noblemen. She had no idea what the message was about, be it a love letter or a decoration of war and she liked not knowing. The man nodded "I see, you have no idea how important that this letter was, I'm surprised that Athden didn't have you hire body guards" he said looking down at the letter picking it apart now. "I need to send a message, Unlike that little kitty, I'm going to have your hire body guards" he said as he looked at the mouse "It's not that I don't think you could hold your own, But you admitted that you wouldn't be here with out help" he said with a little smirk "Come back at sun rise with the body guards and I'll have a message waiting for you" he said before waving her away.

Calindra sighed once she was outside of the townhouse, it was always stressful to meet a client. Her job was done for now at least. She shook her head some realizing she would either need to hand the job off to another messenger or find some body guards. She didn't know this city very well, and really never had to hire bodyguards before. Walking down the steps and onto the streets trying to think of what to do. ~Who do I even talk to about bodyguards?~ she asked herself while walking down the street. At least she didn't have to worry about having a target on her back right now. ~Maybe that dragon from before may know... He seems like a nice person what would be willing to help... maybe he would even be willing to be my bodyguard~ she thought blushing under her cream fur, not admitting it even to herself that she found him attractive in some way. ~It's just because he saved my tail~ she thought while walking to where she first 'bumped' into him.
