Asitha sighed, rubbing her scaled temples as she looked around the dingy interior of the bar. It was a quiet morning, since most of the drunks had been lured away by barmaids or were merely sleeping it off under and on the tables. She sighed again, and rested her head back against the wall, sitting in the corner booth as she was.

She was a Dalynther, with glittering blue and yellow scales and a quite curvaceous form, her wings currently folded up behind her and her tail wrapped comfortably around her leg, and she was dressed in a thin leather vest and a loincloth. Her eyes, glittering white and without pupils, carefully scanned the area around her, paying close attention for once.

She closed her eyes and relaxed as she found nothing of interest, slumping in the relatively comfortable booth, and quickly fell asleep.

_ She was in her home village. Thakali. Home. Why was she here? Was this a memory? Something to come? Or was it merely nothing but a pure piece of her imagination? She didn't know._

_ The village was burning. Flames leapt from building to building, the thatched roofs and timber walls catching fire quite easily, the location of her fondest and most tender memories burning merrily without a thought for her own or any other's feelings._

_ As she looked on in horror at the terrible scene before her, she saw a form moving through the smoke and shadows towards her. It was her younger brother, Famal._

_ "Why did you leave, Asitha? Why did you do this to us? We are burning for you."_

_ "We are dying for you."_

She woke up with a start to find a different Dalynther sitting, quite relaxed, next to her. He was tall, broad and muscular. He was dressed in a breastplate and loincloth, along with bracers and greaves that still left much of his body, covered in glistening red scales, exposed. He carried a heavy blade on his hip, with a large round shield slung over his back. His posture, casual and yet still ready to move at a moment's notice, identified him as a veteran warrior, and, along with the numerous scars she saw, attested that he did not carry the tools of war only for the purpose of impressing others. He knew how to use them.

"Greetings, little one, I am glad to see you are awake", the male began.

"Uhm, yes, hello, kin..." she replied uncertainly. "Do you need something?"

"Only a spot of conversation, of course. Will you grant me such, perhaps?"

"...Sure, but what do you want to talk about?"

"Why, yourself, of course, beautiful one. What is your name?"

"I'm... I'm Asitha. And you?"

The male flashed a grin, full of sharp teeth that made the bartender across the room eye him warily. "I am known in these parts by many names. Ghost, Shadow, and numerous others. You, however, may refer to me as Red." At this, "Red's" smile grew even wider and more dangerous looking.

"Of... of course, Red", she replied nervously. Evidently, he was one to be careful around.

"Tell me about yourself", the words not quite phrased as a question.

"I... I am no one important, k-Red. I am a simple peasant, nothing important."

Red's sharp-toothed grin turned into a knowing smirk, but he stood up and bowed. "We will meet again soon, Asitha, so I truly hope."

She nodded, choosing not to speak as the unnerving creature left the tavern.

A few minutes later, she stood up and left as well, leaving coins on the table with her empty glass.

She took a deep breath, savoring the fresh air along the long and winding road known as the Burning Way. She decided that she would relax the rest of the day, and resume travelling tomorrow. With a spring in her steps, she walked through the midday summer sun and the bright, green-leaved trees lining the road in this area, heading off to a secluded pond that was relatively near the tavern.

A few hours later, she arrived at the pond, decently sized, supplied as it was by the nearby river. She sang softly as she quickly removed her loincloth and vest, slipping into the warm water completely bare.

After about half an hour, she heard a rustling in the bushes off to the side and quickly covered herself up as best she could with her hands, believing it no doubt to be Red or another intrepid male intent on gazing as much as he could at her soft curves.

It was not. No sooner that she had turned towards the sound did a swarthy man dressed in green, brown and black leathers, followed soon after by four other men, one lean and tall, another short and broad, the third being tall and wide, the fourth short and slim, all dressed the same way as the first, all of them holding three-foot bows with arrows on the strings.

The first one grinned and bowed mock-politely, and spoke with a thick local accent. "Well, well, well! An' wha' does we got here, boys? Looks to me like we got ourselves a nice pretty girl we gots ta work with. Wouldja mind steppin' out o' there, miss? Ya look like ya got a decent enough body to look at, mind. Karl, Felix, check the bags an' clothin' an' such."

"Sure thing, boss."

"Righto."

The tall and wide one and the short and slim one moved to check her pile of objects while another one, the short and broad fellow spoke up uncertainly. "Y'sure we can use a dragon-bitch, boss? Don' seem right healthy t'me. 'Sides, I ain't too fond o' scales.

By this point, Asitha had stepped out of the water, covering herself as best as possible, cringing slightly at their words.

"Oi, move your 'ands, bitch. Yeah, Gogi, we can use this one right good, you wait an' see. We gotsta see the goods 'fore we sample 'em, though, eh?" the leader chuckled nastily.

Slowly she moved her hands aside, allowing the bandits to survey her body, with her large breasts and slim, hourglass figure, only reluctantly.

"Huh! Seems t'me that this 'un's a virgin, boys. Surprise, surprise! That means it'll be even more fun than I thought!" The leader grinned quite cheerfully as he moved forward, shoving her to her knees and unbuckling his belt. As he forced her mouth open and put his manhood in the newly opened orifice, she closed her eyes as a thought crossed her mind. She bit down; her sharp teeth bit off the offending appendage directly at the base, then she stumbled back, spitting it out onto the ground.

As the bandit leader looked at himself in horror, he began to scream and fell to his knees himself, drawing the attention of his men. He picked up the neatly severed remains of his unfortunate piece of anatomy, wailing as he cradled it. As he did so, the other bandits stood up and stared blankly for a moment, then turned to Asitha, laying sprawled on the ground, propped up on her elbows and looking on in fear. They nocked their arrows again and prepared to loose them in a single brutal volley.

Their hesitation doomed them.

Not moments before they fired, a red blur appeared behind one of the men, a flash of steel and spurting blood signaling his end, the man's head detaching from his neck and falling to the ground. The second and third quickly followed, one with his legs severed, another with his gut carved open, intestines spilling out. Neither wound was immediately fatal, but while the man with his legs taken off fell unconscious immediately, the second tried to stuff his guts back into the slit on his belly, wailing in agony. The fourth tried to run, only to have a spinning blade embed itself in his back, no doubt puncturing his heart as a fountain of blood splattered from the hole that the weapon had carved.

This happened in naught but seconds, and their killer stood over them, ripping the glittering steel blade from the fourth man's back. It was Red. He strolled casually over to the leader of the band, barely conscious now from blood loss, holding his severed cock in both hands as he looked groggily up at the massive Dalynther. Smiling grimly, the warrior took the unmanned man's head from his shoulder with a single slash, turning towards Asitha as she continued to lay there, stunned by the sheer speed and brutality of the ferocious attack. It had been so sudden, a few seconds at most, that she had not even been able to move, and remained exactly how she was before the fight.

"I told you we'd be meeting again, pretty one. Not how I wanted it to be, but..." Red shrugged idly. "We rarely get things we want, as you no doubt see." He glanced at the leader, then back. "Are you alright?"

Asitha realised with horror that she was still nude, and blushed deeply. "Y-yes, but l-let me dress, yes?" As she spoke, she noticed a shifting in Red's loincloth, who also blushed - amazingly! - as he turned away.

She dressed quickly, and then tapped Red uncertainly on the shoulder, who turned around, his hands folded firmly over his groin as he bowed, smiling at her. "I am glad to help you, Asitha, but if you'll excuse me, I need to be going somewhere."

"Where?"

"Somewhere important." At this, his smile became a knowing smirk once again.

"Could I go with? Please?"

"Hrm... I was going to gather others." He smiled brightly. "Yes, you can come along, but try to keep up, hmm? We have a long way to go, my beautiful little friend."

"I know, Red."

He laughed. "Hah! Please, call me by my real name. Anschul, if you don't mind. Now come, we have a trip to make!"

Asitha silently decided that she would do her best to enjoy this particular trip.

Oh yes, she would enjoy it a lot.
