Omnimodus Luminare Dragons

Body Type:

Omnimodus Luminare Dragons (Luminare Dragons for short) have the serpentine body of the Eastern Dragon and the long muscular legs of the Western Dragon.

Luminare Dragons have four legs with three toes on their front and hind feet. Each toe has a claw, these can be retractable like a cat or fixed like a dog.

They have at least two horns, but may have more.

Ears can be short or long, stiff or floppy.

Most Luminare Dragons do not have wings since they are generally a space faring race.

Their skin is smooth, much like that of a sting ray in texture. It is a very good insulator and helps them withstand the extreme temperature of space.

The teeth of a Luminare Dragon are retractable.

Coloring:

Luminare Dragons can be any color of the spectrum. Generally their body is a darker color than their markings, but not always.

Their Claws and teeth are usually the same color as is the inside of their mouth, but not always, if they are different colors, they are very close to the same hue, or they are complimentary on the color wheel.

Hair:

The hair of a Luminare Dragon is softer than the softest substance on Earth, but also stronger than the strongest material hitherto discovered by man. It can be any color of the spectrum but is translucent. It begins on the forehead and follows the spine all the way to the tip of the tail and around slightly, much like an Eastern Dragon. The skin and muscle directly beneath the hair of a Luminare Dragon is clear, letting the natural light of each Dragon's bones shine through their prismatic hair. It can be long or short and is bioluminescent, but to a much lesser degree than their bones.

Hair Structure:

The hair of a Luminare Dragon is formed of tetartoid dodecahedron crystals. That is: They are twelve-sided and asymmetrical, like that of the stone Cobaltite. They are bonded together at a molecular level into tightly woven, extremely soft strands that are deceptively sharp and dangerous. When caught at the right angle by light, the hair will refract and cast rainbows all around the Dragon.

Markings:

Any pattern is acceptable.

Bones:

The bones of a Luminare Dragon are bioluminescent. They can give off anywhere between two and five colors and the pattern on the bones has a swirl effect. If a Luminare Dragon is killed, its bones continue to glow.

Species Behavior:

Luminare Dragons are protective beings, they watch over each other or any member of any species they consider a friend.

They can live together in small or large colonies or they can be rouge and travel by themselves. Some communities are nomadic and others choose a planet to call home.

There is no disgrace in being rouge, it is a personal choice and no Luminare Dragon begrudges another of that choice.

Food:

Luminare Dragons feed off of the energy in the universe. They do not eat or drink. They can, but they don't have to.

Gender:

When a Luminare Dragon is born, it has no gender. When it reaches maturity, which is another personal choice, they can decide to be identified as male or female, or neither, or both, as they desire. Once a Luminare Dragon had decided on a gender; or lack there of, they can not change it.

Birth:

A Luminare Dragon is born when a Star dies. But only if there are two other Luminare Dragons there to gather and guide the energy and form it into a new Luminare Dragon.

Life:

After its birth a Luminare Dragon is cared for by it's parent, parents or by it's community, depending on the situation. If it was two Rouges or a Rouge and Colony Dragon that birthed the new one, it is generally cared for by one parent. If it is the offspring of two Colony Dragons it is generally raised by the entire Colony. Some Luminare Dragons gladly take on a nurturing role to raise their own offspring and are very protective and loving.

When a Luminare Dragon is born, its colors are bright and vibrant! As it ages, they can live a very very long time, its colors dim until they become pure white. When this happens the Luminare Dragon knows that it's time has ended and it leaves to find a section of space where it will be safe when it dies.

When a Luminare Dragon dies it becomes a star, thus completing the circle of life.

From birth a Luminare Dragon can be between three and four feet long. As it ages it can reach anywhere between thirty-five to one thousand or more feet in length. Generally, the longer the Dragon the longer it has lived. This is not always true, some Dragons choose to stop growing when they reach their desired size, and once this choice is made it can not be changed.

When a Luminare Dragon reaches maturity, generally 100 to 200 years, it gains the ability to take an anthromorphic form of itself. This is why they are then allowed to choose a gender.

Interspecies Relations:

Luminare Dragons have no natural preditors, but many that have made contact with other species have not returned. Their hide is a highly sought after prize among those that know of them. A suit made of LuminareDragon hide protects the wearer from extreme heat and cold, making it possible for that person to travel through space and do up close research of a star. Their bones and hair are also highly prized for making jewelry and weapons. The bioluminescence of a Luminare Dragon never dies and their bones are hard as Diamond.

Language:

Luminare Dragons are telepathic and can communicate with any species that has cognizant thought. They can speak but their voices are of a decibel than most species can not hear.

Ethereal Form:

Another marvelous thing that happens when a Luminare Dragon reaches maturity is the Ethereal form.

This form is not something that the Dragon chooses for itself, it is something that is a part of them, as deeply as their bioluminescent bones are a part of them. Very few Luminare Dragons have this ability.

In the Ethereal form the Luminare Dragon becomes more slender and their entire body becomes semi translucent. Their already prodigious strength is tripled and their hair bonds into thicker strands, some taking on a more feathery appearance while others become hard spikes. Their bones also become brighter in this state.

This form is temporary and usually used when defending their homes or beings they love.

Deities and Religion:

The closest thing Luminare Dragons have to a Deity is First. First is the first Luminare dragon. (See below for more information.) They have no set religion, though some may adopt the religion of another species or group. While yet others will create their own and place themselves at the head of said religion. These Dragons are shunned from general Luminare Society and no longer referred to as Luminare Dragons.

Just like any other species there are 'Good' and 'Evil' Luminare Dragons. Evil Luminare Dragons are few and far between and are not regarded by other Luminare Dragons to be Luminare Dragons any more. They call these 'Evil' Dragons Pravas Dragons.

The First:

There is a story of the First LuminareDragon, this Dragon wanders the universe helping others. No one knows if the First Dragon is male or female, but First is the only LuminareDragon that can make other LuminareDragons without another LuminareDragon present. This Dragon is nearly entirely white; it is as old as the universe and will be the last creature to leave when this universe passes into the next. Or so the legend goes.
