Well, this took longer then expected. This is twice as long as the normal chapters, just so you know. Sorry, I couldn't help but put Phil in this story, he was my personal fave from my previous ones :3 And also, things start taking a big turn after this chapter, just so you know ^^ Feedback is welcome, and let me know if there are any mistakes.

Vadim woke up with a smile as he stared in to the face of Sig's silver, red, and white face. He gave him a small kiss on the nose, and Sig woke up. It was a Saturday morning, so Sig's parents were out at work. Sig looked deep in to Vadim's ice blue eyes.

"Good morning sunshine." Vadim said with a smile. "Shall we go check the news?"

Sig smiled a little more, remembering what had happened last night. "Yes, we shall."

The two foxes got up, still in their boxers, and went in to the living room. Vadim smacked Sig on the butt before he sat down on the couch. Sig turned on the TV, which was already on the news channel, and they smiled when they saw that the officer's death was plastered all over the screen. The head of the police department, a cougar in his 50's, was making a speech saying they will catch whoever did this and send them to the gallows. The news banner said his name was Chief of Police Westerfield. The head of the military was standing behind him, a big Doberman that was also in his 50's. His name was General Putnam.

"Well Sig, there they are. The top of the top. One day, both of them will fall and this nation will be a better place."

Sig slowly nodded, with a worried look on his face. The news was saying that they had no leads on the murder, but to report anything that seemed suspicious. Vadim was starting to notice the look on Sig's face, and wanted to put his fears to rest.

"Don't worry, dude. They can't find us. Besides, even if someone saw, they wouldn't report anything because this nation is just as fed up with them as we are."

"Yeah, that's true. I just don't want to die, or lose you."

They looked back at the news, where it said their dictator, Jono Hornblad, was giving condolences to anybody who knew the cop. That is when Vadim noticed something that he had never noticed before. Whenever the dictator made a speech, he always had a young Pine Marten nearby. The boy was wearing fancy clothes, just like, from what Vadim was assuming, his step-father.

"Hey Sig, do you think taking out that marten boy would take Jono down a peg or two?"

"Heh, don't mention his name like that in public now a days, we can only call him by Leader or Dictator Hornblad now. But I don't know, killing a young one wouldn't be a good idea."

Vadim shrugged at this. "Yeah, you're probably right. Well, let's relax for today and get ready to go out tonight, shall we?" And for the rest of the day, that's what they did...

*************************************************************************************

Before Vadim knew it, he was changing his clothes again back out in the shed. Sig had already gone off to his bush, and he was getting ready and hoping that tonight would be just as easy as the night before. He climbed up in to the same tree, and waited for Sig's signal. After a few minutes of waiting, Sig came over the radio.

"Ok Vad, a cop just passed me. He's a grey housecat this time. Be ready."

Vadim's heart started to beat fast again, and before he knew it he heard the footsteps coming his way. He saw the cop, ten feet and closing. Vadim grabbed his knife tight as the cop started to pass below, and he pounced from above like the night before. He drove the knife straight in to the cat's skull, but it was different this time. When he looked up, a shadow came from behind a tree. Vadim's eyes widened as he saw the silhouette of a gun appear and it pointed straight at his head.

*Bang!*

Vadim opened his eyes half a second later, expecting to be dead. But instead he saw the shadow of another figure, and he just ripped the gun out of the first shadow's paws. The second shadow pointed at the first's head, and pulled the trigger.

*Bang!*

Vadim flinched as he saw some matter fly from the first shadow's head.

"Come on, fox, let's get out of here. Follow me." Vadim looked down and quickly grabbed the gun and ammo from the cop he was still on top of, and followed the shadow that was running towards Sig.

"Vadim, what happened? I heard gunshots." Sig said over the radio.

"I'm fine, Sig, just get ready to follow me and this... other fur that just saved me."

A couple of minutes passed and they could hear sirens coming their way. They met up with Sig and ran in to the streets, away from their home. They ran down this street for over five minutes, then quickly turned around to see the police drive down another street towards the park. They were leaving the metro area and were heading towards another park. Vadim still didn't know who his savior was; he wore a big hat and a trench coat that covered everything but his face, which Vadim couldn't see anyway because he was running behind him.

After a bit more running, they came up to the heavily forested park and started to walk. The fur in front of them finally spoke again:

"Keep quiet through here, ok?" The two foxes both nodded as they started trekking through the trails. Ten minutes of walking passed, and they came up to a large rock formation. They easily climbed to the middle, where two rocks joined, and the two foxes were shocked when the figure pulled on a tree sapling and an opening appeared in the rocks.

"Come inside." The two foxes followed, and found themselves in a dimly lit room with a big hole in the floor. The figure started to descend on a ladder in said hole, and motioned the foxes to follow. When they got to the bottom after a 20 foot descent, they were inside of a dimly lit tunnel with railroad tracks and a small cart. The figure finally took off his coat and hat, to reveal the same raccoon that had followed them a few days prior. Vadim and Sig were both shocked, and were about to turn around before the young raccoon spoke.

"Listen, I know I probably scared you two yesterday, and I am sorry. I saw you guys come from behind the counter of the electronic store, and I knew you were up to something. I should have said something, because I want to help, but I couldn't muster up the courage."

Vadim was the first to reply. "But, how are you able to do this? Don't you go to the private school?"

The raccoon smirked and invited them on the cart. "Follow me." They both got on and sat down on a seat as it started moving forward with the push of a button. "It's interesting how this works, I studied it a long time ago. When I flip this switch, it activates a magnet which makes the rails push the cart away, yet stay on at the same time. It goes forward when the electricity goes one way, then backwards when it goes the other. Anyways, my name is Phil Keyhan. I go to The Lumen Nation School for Boy's and Girl's. I found this tunnel a few years ago, and it's a good escape for me from that wretched place. It's too bad this tunnel is blocked off back there, I would love to see where it leads to.

The two foxes stared at each other for a moment, and then it was Sig's turn to respond. "So... You saved us then? Does anybody else do this with you? Where else does this tunnel lead?"

The cart started to slow down as they came to a dead end. "Unfortunately, it goes from where we are to right here. I wish I had others to do this with, but there are none. But, I do have this though."

The coon exited the cart and opened a door near the dead end. Inside was a large room with several beds and other furnishings. On the walls there were old weapons, and a few new ones as well. There was a big flat screen TV and a desk with a computer, along with a small kitchen with various appliances. There were also a few closed doors near the other end of the room. The whole room looked like a studio apartment.

"This is my sanctuary. I've acquired a few of those new weapons on the wall there. To me, it looks like this place was a barracks at one point, but it has been abandoned since that blockage back there. What is interesting is it has my school's crest on that wall."

Vadim and Sig looked on the wall to see a Bighorn Mountain Sheep draped with red and blue ribbons. The raccoon walked up to the wall and put up the handgun he had just got earlier.

"So how long have you been doing all of this, do you always kill?" Vadim asked.

"I've been going out since I was 14 years old. I'm 17 now, by the way. And no, I've only killed in self defense. I normally try to injure the person so they don't get up for a while. But in rare cases I've had to kill to survive. This was all after the massacre of those poor arctic foxes of course. That's when our police force started cracking down on the innocent."

Vadim smiled a little, knowing that this raccoon was on his side. "What do you think about those arctic foxes, Phil?"

The raccoon's ears dropped as he looked at the floor. "They were my best friends. I knew two of them, and all three of us would hang out together. All three of us found this place together, and we all went out at night and had fun. Then the betrayal happened, and the cops came and took them away. It was one of the hardest things I had to deal with. But, I know that there is light at the end of the tunnel."

Phil smiled a little as he noticed Vadim was beside him with a big grin. "You're right, Phil. There is light. I'm not a black fox, I'm an arctic fox. I just dyed my fur to look like this so I could go in public."

"Of course, Phil! Why didn't we think of that?" All three furs turned around to see a pure white fox standing in the doorway at the other end of the room.

Phil smirked a little and giggled. "Well, err... The cops took one of my friends. Here's how the story goes... First off, have a seat on a couch, we have a little explaining to do." Sig and Vadim both sat on a nearby couch, while Phil sat across from them and the fox sat on his lap.

"This is my pet fox, in a sense haha. His name is Pavel Soloviev. Our other friend, wherever he may be, was named Kir Soloviev. He was Pavel's cousin, and when the police came and grabbed Kir while we were in class, Pavel ran out and came here, barely escaping the cops as they chased him. Later that night, I came here and told him what was going on. That those that weren't taken away were being killed, and he had to stay down here until we figured out what to do. It was then decided that I would use my money that my parents give me every week to buy him food. It became a routine that on weekends I would go grocery shopping for him. Luckily, all of the appliances still work down here. After a little bit of tinkering of course.

"I never let him go outside, with the exception of the rock. Every once in a while on a sunny day we would go on the rock to get some sun together. But, now that we see how convincing you look with your fur dyed, that might be able to change. Do you think you could dye his fur for him, Vadim?"

"Uhh, yeah. Sure. Let's do it tomorrow though, to be honest I really need the sleep right now. But first, how old are you Pavel?"

"I'm 16. I look younger because of my size." It was true, the fox was only about 5'5" and looked like a kid next to Phil, who stood 5'10".

"So are you two like..." Sig asked as he pointed his two fingers together, then crossed them over. This got a hard nudge from Vadim. Phil smiled and licked Pavel on the nose.

"Well, when you grow up in a school for boys, you have to share your emotions with somebody. Especially when that somebody is the only person you really have." Phil hugged Pavel from behind, who turned and nuzzled him.

Vadim and Sig both looked at each other and got a little closer. "Yeah, we are... You know... too." Sig said in an awkward way. "Anyways, we really need some sleep. Which reminds me Vaddy, what are we going to say to my parents when we don't return tomorrow?"

"We'll just say we left early in the morning to meet up with some friends." All four furs had got up and were now walking towards the beds. There were four queen size beds and some bunk beds near the end.

"Ok, that sounds good. And look on the bright side, we get to sleep together again."

The pair got under the sheets of a queen sized bed and stripped down to their boxers. In the bed next to them, Pavel did the same thing as Phil turned off the lights. The two foxes quickly fell asleep, nuzzling each other until they passed out.

*************************************************************************************

The next morning, Vadim woke up to the sound of a TV reporter. He looked around, gaining his bearings and remembering where he was. He noticed that Phil was awake and watching the news, although Pavel was still fast asleep in the next bed over. He looked at Sig and smiled as he happily dreamed. Vadim decided to get up and join Phil, sitting next to him on the couch.

"Mornin Vadim."

"Mornin Phil." Vadim looked at the clock on the news channel; it read 9:16 AM. On the news was Chief of Police Westerfield again. The feline was talking about a double murder of two cops the night before in the same park.

"It looks like we better find a better place to take these guys out, Vadim. They're gonna be on that park good now."

"You know, Phil. I never thanked you for last night. You saved my life, thank you very much. I now owe you a big debt." The raccoon put his paw on the fox's thigh.

"You're welcome. Just promise you won't screw me over, and you'll stick with me till the end of all this, and you won't owe me a thing. A good friend is hard to come by in this day and age, and both I and my mate are hurting for one. And I think that you and your mate are a great couple."

Vadim smiled and grabbed the raccoon's paw. "He's not my mate, at least not yet. But of course I will be your friend. I've never really met a raccoon before, but I've always been fond of them. You're proof that raccoons are a good species, Phil."

The coon smiled through his black mask and gave Vadim a small nuzz. "Thank you. Now, where should we go tonight?"

The fox got a worried look on his face. "What do you mean? Sig has school tomorrow and so do you."

Phil smiled softly. "Yes, I know. But we can go out early. I really want to take Pavel out on the town. Which reminds me, do you want to go buy some fur dye while these two sleep? Then when we get back, we can wake them up and make some breakfast together."

"Yeah, that sounds fine to me. Let me just write a quick note for Sig in case he wakes up."

Vadim wrote a quick note saying he was going to be out for a little bit and left it on the bed, and then followed Phil out to the rail cart. They both hopped in and enjoyed a quiet ride to the exit. As they climbed the ladder, Vadim couldn't help looking at the raccoon's cute butt as he climbed ahead of him. When he got to the top, Vadim quickly thought about other things to stem his tingling sheath. They exited the rock and climbed down, now walking on the path. The weather was still cloudy like it had been for a few days, but still no rain. Vadim still had quite a few questions for Phil.

"So Phil, how is it you can be out all weekend?"

"Well, my dad is the head of a big company and we are very wealthy, so he paid the school to give me leave on the weekends. I'm actually supposed to go home, and I do sometimes, but for the most part I say that I'm going to a friends' house for the weekend and they don't question it."

"How is the school?" By now the dense forest was starting to clear out and Vadim could hear the sound of the city again.

"It's a living hell. The teachers can legally abuse the kids, and if we fight back we get kicked out. And for Pavel's sake, I don't want that to happen. Nobody has really talked to me since the betrayal. Rumors have gone around saying that I will be hung for having two best friends that were arctic foxes, and that anyone who associates with me will be hung as well. So I have no friends other than Pavel and now you two. But, being down in the barracks room has given me time to train and learn how to fight. If there's one thing useful at that school, it's our library. I've picked up a lot of books on martial arts, and cooking as well haha."

The two furs were now walking in the city streets, heading towards a outdoor row of shops and restaurants. "So what about Pavel, does he know how to fight as well?"

Phil let out a small chuckle and smiled. "We both trained together, although he's a bit more feminine then I. He's a really good cook in that sense though."

"Hehe, what do you mean, 'more feminine.'"

The pair entered a big supermarket, and Phil led the way to the aisle with the dye. "Well, his size for one. But also, well, you'll see one day. He has a certain kink that he expresses every once in a while. It's kinda cute, actually. What color do you think we should get him?"

Vadim grabbed a box of orange and a box of black. "These two, now help me find the fur bleach, his summer coat will come in soon and this dye works the best with white fur. Also, we need an overcoat brush to get rid of his winter coat."

Phil walked down the aisle a bit and found the fur bleach, then walked down a bit further and found a suitable brush.

"Hey, we need to pick up some extra eggs and bacon, we weren't expecting guests, so go find a checkout line and I'll be there in a few."

Vadim proceeded to the checkout line and put the items on a conveyer belt that went to the cashier. Less than a minute later, Phil showed up with the rest of the stuff and quickly paid.

"So what's your story, Vadim? How did you become an assassin?" The two furs started walking back towards the park.

"Well, I saw how my kind is treated and I knew I had to do something to stop it. So after Sig saved my life and I moved in with him and his family, we came up with an idea to start a revolution by showing how weak our government is and how easy it is to overthrow our leader."

"That sounds like a good plan, but how did Sig save your life?" By now they made it back to the park and started to head deep in to the forest again.

"I was sleeping in a shack during the last big rainstorm we had, and the river I was next to swept me away. I had just met Sig for the first time, and he came looking for me to offer a place to stay for the night. Well, he found me unconscious on the river bank and brought me to his house. So if it wasn't for him, I probably would have died out there."

"Wow, so new friends have saved your life twice in the past couple of weeks, huh?" The two had just climbed the rock, and Phil pulled the lever to open it and enter.

"Yeah, I guess you are right."

Vadim made a dash for the ladder as Phil closed the door, and quickly climbed down. And once again, he gawked at the 'coons butt again as he climbed down. For a second he had thought Phil had noticed, because he slowed down a little and pushed his muscles up a little more, almost showing it off as the raccoon swished his striped tail around. Vadim murred a little and entered the cart quickly and sat down. When Phil entered and stood at the front for the controls, he swished his tail in Vadim's face.

Once again the ride through was silent, as Vadim tried hard not to reach out and touch the coon butt in front of him. When they walked in, the other two foxes were both sitting on the couch together watching TV. Pavel had his legs on Sig's lap, and Sig had an awkward look on his face.

"Vadim, don't be mad. This isn't what it looks like." Sig said in a serious tone.

"Hehe, it's fine, Sig. It's just how he is. Now let's make a big breakfast, I'm starving!"

The four furs put their cooking skills to the test, making each other a large portion of food with eggs, bacon, and cheese. They had a small competition to see who could make the best omelet. Afterwards, Vadim took Pavel to the large bathroom to brush out his undercoat. It was then that he realized Pavel had the innocence of a child, and the cuteness to boot. It took quite a while to get all of it out, but when he did he got Sig to help him bleach Pavel's fur. After he was bleached snow white again, they followed up with the orange dye, covering most of his body. Then they got the black dye and made his face markings as well as the 'gloves' and 'socks'. After letting the dye sit for a few hours, Pavel washed it all out, which also took some time. Vadim finished with dying the tips of his fur black in some spots, to make a very convincing red fox. By the time everything was finished, it was already night time.

Pavel and Vadim walked out of the bathroom and in to the living area to show off the new colors. He was just in a pair of boxers, and he walked in front of Phil and turned around in a complete circle.

"Wow Vadim. You did a fine job, I must say. You should do this professionally if things ever settle down around here."

This got an audible chuckle from the fox. "Haha, I couldn't do that. It's fun and all, but nothing to pursue. We should get going, do you know where we are headed tonight, Phil?"

"Yes, I would like to post up on top of some building around that park, just to do some recon. I'm curious if they stepped up their patrols there, or what exactly is going on."

Vadim let out a sigh of relief, knowing that tonight would be a breeze. "That sounds great, I need a break from this killing."

Sig and Vadim geared up in their casual clothes, but brought along same camo they wore the night before in their packs. The other two just wore some grey clothes. Pavel was happy to finally be able to get out again, and he clung close to Phil as they walked down the path towards the city. It was still early; around 8:00 PM. After walking for fifteen minutes, they made it to the edge of the park. The park was surrounded by buildings between five and ten stories high.

"Ok, I and Pavel will take this side of the buildings together, and you and Sig take the buildings closer to your home. Just go on the rooftop and keep an eye out, and tell me on your radio when you see cops. I want info on them; how many there are, what species, etcetera. Sound like a plan?"

The three foxes looked at Phil and nodded. "Ok, see you guys in a few hours."

After another five minutes of walking on the outskirts of the park, Sig and Vadim made it to a seven story building that would be perfect. They entered a hallway and took an elevator to the roof access floor, where they entered the top of the flat roof. At the edge of the rooftop, there was a small wall that was three feet tall they could look over, and duck down if it was necessary. Vadim got on his radio and talked to Phil.

"Ok Phil, we're in position."

"Copy that, we haven't seen a thing out of the ordinary yet."

An hour past before Vadim saw anything weird. He looked down to see a cop walking in to the forest to do patrols. He radioed it to Phil once he saw the cop.

"Hey Phil, we just got one that entered on our side. He is... wait. Did you see that Sig?"

The two foxes looked down with full attention. "Yes, I did."

"What did you two see?" Phil asked.

"I'm not sure, we just saw a shadow run in the same way the cop just went. It was... Strange."

A few minutes had passed, and a big black van pulled up. Several furs piled out in full tactical gear and ran in to the forest. Vadim instantly got on the radio.

"Phil, we just had a team of furs go in to the forest. I think they're expecting us. We better head out of here while we can."

"No." Phil responded. "Just a little more time, and we will head out."

Vadim sighed and kicked the ground, but kept a sharp eye out for activity. What he didn't know was there were more furs on the rooftop than just he and Sig. Vadim felt something grab him from behind and felt a wet rag go over his muzzle. He inhaled to say something, but instantly blacked out. As he was passing out, he reached out to grab Sig, but nothing was there.
