A beautiful world

The ruination before dawn

Conflict always rages somewhere in the world, injustice and madness happens, cruelty and unfair things are a part of every living being's life.

But in a world where magic and fantasy exist, things are changeable, and that is just what happened in Esphorados...

War raged amongst the many nations and the people suffered, they became bitter and distrustful, a helping hand was a thing long passed.

Thievery was a daily income for many, hate and intolerance was the only way to get atleast some group together, even if it was merely based only on hating the same thing and not really on friendship.

A doctor and scientist in magic had been living very much of a cared for and loving life, he looked upon the world with distaste and sorrow in his eyes.

He was a prodigy in the school called archanaology, meaning a merging between science and magic, although his career had gone straight down after he had quit producing weapons of death and destruction.

He was after all a boy with childish beliefs confined in an adult's body in a world without much of any love or care left in it.

So one day he had been thinking of a thought, a splendid thought indeed, he would use transmutative powers of equivalent trade he thought, and he would trade this wretched world for a more beautiful one.

His studies were intense and restless, something like this had never been researched, not even thought of.

Days became weeks, weeks became months and after as much as five years, with his resources and wealth almost at their ends, he was finished!

The project was to trade emotions, to trade views... To trade the very world they all lived in.

A great portal was forged, standing tall and mighty as its magic marble formed a rune bearing circle in his great yards, behind his, a bit torn, mansion, towering above the trees.

He then began chanting, his resolve was determined to lay waste to this wretched excuse of a hateful planet and give life anew, for as he would open his portal, anything going through it would be forever changed.

It was a trade he thought to be the best mankind would ever have been given.

The traits that would change were the emotions of anyone walking through it, sorrow and mistrust would be replaced with the ability to trust, to forgive and move on.

Deceit would be replaced with loyalty and honesty.

Hate would be replaced with love, but still keeping mild irritation, since the scientist knew that man still needed to be able to have a free will and not be a mindless slave.

Intolerance would be replaced with tolerance and understanding.

Low self esteem and fear would be replaced with courage and a filling feeling of inspiration.

This seemed like a dream come true for the scientist, an equivalent trade by sacrificing emotions for other emotions, however the true horrors of this were to be realised later.

The chanting had begun, there was no turning back and the world would soon witness a power of change that would leave none unnoticed...

Sparks and lightning began searing in the portal as it started taking a more physical form, gleaming with a blue, calming light as it rippled across its surface.

The portal was stable, it had been opened now and now was just the task of having many going through this portal.

That was a wish he had not yet realised, was gonna be forced upon the world, for in his unknowing absence, at the same time he had opened the portal, another one was opened at the other end of the globe, gleaming with dark and destructive, red light, coarsing with ruinous powers...

The man knew that he would have to let people know of the portal he had built, since otherwise it would all be in vain, so he started preaching to the locals that salvation was to be found in the portal behind his house, that he had created a paradise, called Espheria, of unmeassured proportions that could save all from their world's certain doom and destructive nature that constantly plagued the planet's many countries and nations.

They of course didn't believe him, since after all, he had been quite isolated from the world during the whole project's doing and he had been looked upon like a madman who was falling down towards the ground ever since he lost his career.

So, in the end, he was left alone and stayed in this realm until at least some would come with him to the new world.

The portal on the other end of the world was however different from the one he had made, since the one created by the professor contained a magic marble, preventing it from growing bigger, the other one started growing and sucking in everything that it made contact with, rapidly gaining in size.

It took about three weeks until it had grown out of proportions and was noticed by the whole world as it kept pulling everything into it, everyone got scared and thought it was a doomsday weapon that had gone wrong and was now out of control, that all hope was lost and no life would survive.

The professor however saw this and came to act once more, preaching that hope was not yet to be cast aside, for he had after all the portal to his paradise and it didn't take long before people across the whole globe traveled as fast as they could to venture through the portal he had built.

It took about a month of dedicated work to get as many as possible there, having to use both vehicles and magic to ease the process as they all ventured inside.

Last to walk through was the professor who started the very thing that was now killing the world of Espharados, he just hoped that the world he created would be redemption enough for what he had caused and that there would never have to be a sacrifice done ever again.

Giving the world one last gleaming look as the skies were filled with dark clouds and storms, he chanted one last spell before venturing into the portal himself, and it was the release of the magic marble confining his portal, letting it expand too.

And thus the portals started eating of the world, ripping it apart and finally splitting it in half before reaching eachother, where they stopped, then imploded into themselves as they both closed, leaving nothing but blank space where there once had been a planet filled with many different civiliations.

And thus the tale of a beautiful world begins, with its many tales to be told and fates to be forged, but peace was only to be held for a while as the world was now split in two and equivalent trade is actually not as fair as it might seem to be.

So, these are the tales, of Espheria.

This is a prologue to eventual stories I might write in the future, but for now, I'll just introduce you to the world.

Hope you all enjoyed reading it, for I defenantly enjoyed doing this as a dare from the truth or dare thread.

And special thanks to Fluffy Daemon for proof reading my story. <3
