I would like to dedicate this story to my mate, Victoria Maiko. Thank you for inspiring me to write further, and for all the fun and cheering up you've given me.

Although this story is fiction, the influence is not. Thank you.

As a heads up, the armor that will be referenced for Victoria Maiko can be found http://idesigniphone.net/wallpapers/03830.jpg . Just to give a more precise picture.

It was a nice, warm, summer day. Misty the Jolteon Pokemorph was enjoying herself as she walked through the forest, looking at all the trees, the flora, and the animals. It was beautiful out.

Or, at least, it should have been. The flora was trampled, the animals were fleeing, and she was looking at the trees for any markings. And, she wasn't walking, she was running. It was a time of war. She was wearing black leather armor, similar to what an assassin would wear, and was running for her life. She looked at every tree as she ran by, her fellow Jolteonmorphs running with her, making sure there was no evidence of humanoids. If she saw any, that would be a dead end.

Her species were losing the great war that they were in. They were in fox territory, and the kitsunes were overpowering them as their population was rapidly spreading. The two hadn't gotten along in eras, and there was definitely no sign of that changing soon. Misty's species were going to die off; this seemed inevitable. All she could do was try to survive the best she could.

She thought about all of this, and wondered why they were in this way. Why they had to hate each other. Misty never understood it, and never would. She shook her head, and looked around. And realized she was deserted. There was no sign of her fellow 'morphs.

But, there were signs all right. The trees were scratched up. She started looking up, her face in horror, as she saw the trees filled with the foxes looking down at her. She raised her paws above her head; her retreat was over, and all she could hope for was her life to be spared. One jumped down, walked close to her, and the next thing she knew, she blacked out.

Misty finally woke up, in a cell. She looked around. There wasn't much to see; it was a little worn down, and by the level of light, she was definitely in a keep. Her captor walked up to her. "Hello," she said to Misty. "Who are you?" Misty replied. "Victoria. But that doesn't matter. Let me fill you in. You were in our territory, and now you are our prisoner of war." "Will I be killed?" Misty asked. Her answer was horrific. "Likely."

She didn't want to hear anything else, and didn't want to think about it. She went to lie down in a corner of her cell. There wasn't even a bed. It probably didn't matter. She looked back at her captor, and getting a better glimpse, her reaction stunned her-- Victoria was stunningly beautiful. She had nine tails, and was a reddish orange. Her hair was a beautiful purple, with red ends. Victoria was wearing light plate armor, and was wielding a sword and a shield. Her armor was, although protective, surprisingly revealing. Misty tried averting her gaze, but couldn't. Victoria noticed, and got a slight smile on her face, as she said, "See anything you like?"

Misty walked up to her, against her own will. The two species were supposed to hate each other, yet she fell in love instantly. She never believed in love at first sight, but love in seconed sight turned out to be possible. She finally emitted a soft, "Yes." Misty blushed as she said this, and wished she had something more witty to say. She then looked down, releazing the feeling probably wasn't mutual. Her captor probably hated her, and wished she didn't have another prisoner to watch over.

Until her face was pulled up against the cell gate and her lips were pushed against Victoria's. Misty blinked as she felt a paw release its grasp around her head. "What just happened?" she thought. Victoria had a grin on her face as she winked at Misty. The two had hardly talked, yet they already felt a connection. Victoria was the first to break the silence. "So, how did that feel?" "It felt good," Misty replied, her cheeks more red than a Pikagirl's. "I'm sorry, but my shift is over for the day. Your next captor probably won't be seen though; he typically hangs out more towards the entrance to here, and rarely talks to the prisoners. But, I'll see you tomorrow sweety," Victoria told her. Misty nodded, and went back to the corner and drifted off to sleep.

When Misty finally woke up, she was hungry, and thirsty. She noticed a bowl in her cell. It contained something nasty that she didn't want to touch, but felt unable to resist eating. It was absolutely disgusting. She drank water from a pail next to it, that she swore had came from the town's sewers. It didn't taste good. Everything seemed gloomy. Or, almost everything. Victoria was back. "Believe me, I hate the war as much as you do," she told Misty. Although Misty doubted it from her experiences, she nodded and walked over to the nine-tailed kitsune. The two had a long discussion about the war, their experiences, and such. Apparently Victoria hated the war because her family had slaughtered countless Jolteonmorphs, and were then killed themselves. "It's an atrocity, on both ends, and now I'm feeling pain from it too," she told Misty. Misty nodded and gave her account of being nomadic; always on the run and fleeing. Misty pushed her paw through the gate, and held Victoria's. They kissed each other again.

After talking a bit more, about more peaceful matters, Victoria had to leave again. Misty went back to her corner and rested. She slept through her other captor's shift, and never got a glimpse of him.

She woke up once again, and Victoria was there once more. But something was different. Her face... Showed apprehension. "What's wrong hun?" Misty asked. "They're going to kill you tomorrow. We have to run," the kitsune replied. Victoria proceeded to unlock the cell door, and motioned Misty to follow her. Misty had no choice, but wasn't fearful. She was actually excited. For once, she would actually be running with someone she would care about.

The two snuck out, and the sky was dark. Judging by the darkness, it seemed to be somewhere around 2 in the morning. The town was quiet, and there were no guards out. According to Victoria, this would only last for about 10 more minutes, as there was only a 15 minute gap between shifts. Victoria took Misty's hand, and started running. The two sped off out of the morning, and away from kitsune territory.

When light broke out, they were far from civilization. They were back in a forrest, however. Misty needed another rest. She sat down, and asked Victoria where they were going. "Well, there's only one place I know of they won't check, that will be hospitable. There's an abandoned house nearby, in the forest. Just about every species has forgotten about it, but I stumbled upon it once. We have nothing to live for, and no place in this war. But, I have you, mate."

"Mate."

Misty blushed at this. Along her traveling, and even in captivity, she had thought and dreamed of being this wonderful fur's mate. But, it all seemed surreal now. Noticing this, Victoria hugged her tight and kissed her on the cheek. Misty's face only became redder.

Finally they were ready and they continued their trek. Misty finally saw up ahead what Victoria was talking about. There was a simple wooden house up in the distance. Nearby were fruit trees, and a waterfall. The landscape was just absolutely beautiful and serene. Everything they would need to survive was here. They had food. They had water. They had distance from both of their species.

But most importantly, they had each other, to truly live happily ever after with.
