First off, I don't own any Digimon chars because they are rightfully theirs. However I do own the char named Al, Amelia and the hooded figure. I apologized first hand if there are spelling and/or grammar errors because English is my second. Any greetings will be similar as the previous stories, Enjoy.

Chapter 58: Is This The End?

Back at Gennai's mansion, an alarm beeping loudly in the monitor room, alerting every humans and Digimons that stayed there. They went directly to the monitor room and Andromon was busy typing some codes to browse any missing data from before it happened. They looked at the big screen to see one area field in the game has turned bright red. "What is going on in here?" Gennai asked to Andromon about the situation right now.

Andromon simply replied with his eyes glued to the monitor. "We have a breach. One of the protected fields has been destroyed by an unknown. High possibility, it is a Glitch virus."

"How it's that possible?" Joe asked him confused. "The protector is very sturdy that it is impenetrable by the Glitch, let alone the virus itself or the hackers. At least that is what Izzy said."

"The best explanation is the Glitch has evolved to a higher and greater state."

"Does the Glitch can really do that, Andromon?"

"Insufficient data, Juri. However, that is not our concern." Andromon answered still scanning and recovering the data. "The field that has been attack is where our friends are right now."

"Oh no!" Yolei gasped. "No wonder the connection was lost, a minute ago."

"I'll get the vaccine right away before sending some rescuers." Joe responded and ready to run towards the gate.

"That is not necessary." Andromon called. "There was a breakout, but the Glitches are gone now. We can go without the vaccine."

"All right, Renamon." Rika nodded and asked Renamon with demanding tone. "Go and rescue them with the others."

"That won't be necessary." Renamon answered with her nose rise up to sniffed the air. "They are here right now at the gate." She looked at the wall where the gate is.

The rest of them fled out from the monitor room and run towards the gate. At the front gate, lie Hawkmon, Gomamon and Alphonse. Gomamon and Hawkmon were paralyzed by the Glitch, but Alphonse is injured with lots of cut wounds and unconscious. Gomamon looked at them and gave a weak yet painful smile. "Guys, we are back." He said.

"My God, Juri, get the first aid kit. Coronamon, get some water. Renamon, get some fresh towels. Rika, get some cards to heal him. Gennai, Kazu and Yolei, take them inside." Joe yelled at them.

They nodded and start running off, doing what they were told. Gennai, Kazu, Amelia and Yolei took Gomamon, Hawkmon and Alphonse to the sleeping lounge. Joe looked around to see something out of the ordinary, but he didn't realize that Impmon isn't there with them. He walked back to the mansion and go to the sleeping lounge. Inside, Amelia sat restlessly at Al's side and Juri just put the first aid box down. Kazu took out three futons for them to rest. Coronamon walked in with a pantry full of clean water, of course having trouble not to spill the water while rushing. Renamon reappeared with couple of towels and set them near Joe. Joe, Amelia and Yolei start dipping the towels and clean him off the blood. Joe and Rika quickly treat Al's injuries by sliding the recovery cards and disinfect the wounds and wrap him up again like a mummy.

As his treatment is finished, Joe start focusing on other patients. Gomamon and Hawkmon are clearly paralyzed from the Glitches virus. Usually the effect will wear off eventually but since they were facing against a newly evolved virus, a vaccine is needed. However, it's in the real world and he needs to get it so he left in haste.

When the danger is over, Kazu remembered someone isn't here from the first. "Where is Impmon?" He asked which caught everyone's attention.

"He's been diginapped by the hooded figure." Gomamon answered in groans. "And he talks a bit."

"He...?" Yolei asked in confusion.

"The hooded figure is a he," Hawkmon answered. "if my hearing is not mistaken. However, I couldn't understand what he said. But he knows and he was tense." His beak pointed at Al in effort.

"What happened to him?" Amelia asked.

"He's been slashed with a scythe many times." Gomamon answered expressing the pain that Al felt back then. "Not to mention losing a lot of blood."

"Since he's just out cold, we don't know when he will wake up." Hawkmon told them.

"I'm awake now." Al answered in a raspy voice.

"AL!" Amelia screamed in joy and relief. She hugged him tight with tears of happiness leaking out from her eyes, forgetting the wound he had.

Al can only gag in pain since his throat is dry. She won't let go until someone told her. She immediately looked at him and gasped. By the time she let go, he is almost out to count, again. She shook him hard to wake him up again and said sorry many times.

"Amelia, you are going to kill him." Rika yelled and held her with Renamon's help.

"Where am I?" Al raspy asked.

"You are back in the mansion, injured." Yolei answered.

"Injured...?" Al asked. He closed his eyes, trying to remember why he was injured. Suddenly, a short flashback jolted him back into reality. He quickly got up and looked around, but groaning when the pain registered in his mind again. "Impmon has been kidnap." Al told them the bad news.

"We kinda know that before." Coronamon replied.

"That's not all. We have to leave this place immediately." Al warned them.

"Why?" Kazu asked.

"The hooded figure is planning to attack us. He is making an army for his kill joy on us." Al answered in fear. "We have to leave immediately. Tell Andromon to call everyone to not come back here anymore. This place will be swarmed by Glitches."

"But..." Gennai wanted to protest about his secure and secluded mansion.

"Do it now, he is too strong for all of us without any protection from the Glitches." Al glared at them. Kazu didn't hesitate and went back to the monitor room to relay the message.

"That is why we need your blood." Gomamon responded. "Your blood contains the vaccine to neutralize the Glitch virus for all of us."

Al got up again but the pain got him again. "Amelia, please help me." Al asked her as softly as he could. Amelia hesitates seeing his condition. "Please." Al asked her again. She felt the urgent in his voice and she complied. She helped him up and he went to sit at Gomamon. He pulled out his bandaged right claw and hung his arm right on top of Gomamon.

"What are you doing?" Gomamon asked in confusion and unpleasantness when his injured claw arm hovered right on top of him.

"You want my blood, right?" He asked, struggling to hold his claw up. "Then drink my blood now. It contains not just vaccine but all the Glitch that I have in me."

"Are you a psycho?" Gomamon yelled at him. "I'm not a blood thirsty monster. I'm not gonna drink your blood."

"Do you have other option when your time is almost up and zero chance of reborn?" Al asked at him coldly. "You have no choice, and so does every Digimons in this mansion. I may die today, but the Glitch will remain in you and help you to survive."

Everything went silent, seeping what Al told to everyone. The situation didn't help the awkward silence. Every Digimons in the mansion wanted to be able to fight the Glitch, but not like this. What Al did was similar to sacrifice his own life for others by eating him up. "It's survival of the fittest." Al told them again.

One or two Digimons trusted him enough like a soul mate. One of the two took his claw and guided directly in front. Al was surprised to see who guided his claw. It was Amelia. "I believe in you that you won't harm them like the way you did on me." She said with a warm and confident smile. "Tell me what I should do."

Al went shock to see her reaction, but smiled back at her. "Simply drink my blood like you drink water from a fountain. It may sting for me, but it is for the best, especially for you. Probably it will take time for your body to adjust. But it will be okay."

She believes in him and took his claw near her maw. She opened it and took a strong bite, strong enough to trickle some blood for her to drink. Al winced a bit from the pain but he endured it. It takes her two gulped and removed her maw from his claw arm. She turned pale, feeling a bit sick drinking and tasting a blood for the first time. She felt weak all of sudden but not tired, thinking this might be the effect that he mentioned before.

Up next is Renamon. She didn't ask anything as she guided his arm and took a drink from the bite wound. She only gulped once and removed her maw away. She started to feel weak like Amelia. Her body started to adjust the blood that turned into data and circulated her whole body. She felt hot like a fever and starts panting. Amelia felt the same as well. Their strength seems to leave them as they fell to the floor. Everyone gasped by the reaction and gave a blame stare at Al.

Minutes have past and their strength slowly return. They sat down and looked at each other, at Al, and back at each other. Renamon looked down at her claw/paw arm and perform a fist to see any differences. She felt stronger a bit, but don't know how strong she is.

"Feeling better?" Al asked at them while holding his fresh injured claw arm.

"A bit better." Renamon answered.

"Nothing seems to be changing." Amelia answered. "I think."

"At least that was a good sign." Al responded with a gruff. He looked at Gomamon and again put his claw on top of him. "Are you convinced now?" he asked coldly. Gomamon nodded in defeat and drank some blood droplets. He gave a disgusted face after drinking the blood. "Bleagh... I won't be eating any fishes for a week." He groaned. By the time Al left him, he felt hot and weak a bit despite being paralyzed and rest for a bit.

Al gave some of his blood to Hawkmon as well. He also despises the taste but he drank a gulp. His body also felt hot and weak but he stays awake.

Minutes later, both of their strength returned and they are able to move again. Same as Amelia and Renamon, Both of them either felt nothing or slightly stronger.

Coronamon, Calumon took a gulp as well and the same process repeat. Al counted that every Digimons except Gennai and Andromon are immune to the Glitch for now. He looked at Gennai and gave an obvious look. "Looks like you and Andromon left." He said with confident now. He raised his claw to Gennai. "It is your turn now."

Gennai have a second doubt because even though he is a part Digimon, he is more human resemblance. He wanted to reach the claw when suddenly an alarm rang off. Everyone except Al looked at the ceiling where a hidden speaker is place. "What is that?" Al asked in confusion and panic.

"It's an alarm. Someone came here without unauthorized access." Yolei answered.

"Since when did we have the alarm?" Al asked again.

"Since you and Amelia were kidnapped." Yolei answered again.

"Did you say someone open a gate to here?" Al asked again when suddenly he felt a pulse. The pulse is similar to one he felt from the arena for the first time. He felt pressure as well. "Everybody evacuate now. This mansion has been attack. Amelia, Rena, and Rika help Kazu evacuate Andromon." Al ordered.

When they left, a sudden explosion came from the wall. Behind the debris, Beelzebmon stood with large hand cannon ready to fire, perhaps again. Everyone surprised to see the intruder. Al gritted his teeth and quickly drew some cards. Luckily one of the cards is an evo card. Others were support and assault cards. He put it in the slots and slapped all three of them. His body transformed into Veedramon equipped with Greymon's helmet. "Get everybody out, now! I'll hold him up." Al yelled and ready to guard them.

"But, he is our friend." Juri said in fear.

"He isn't right now. He is nothing more than a puppet. His eyes are as dark as a night." Al answered. Beelzebmon aimed at the defenseless humans. Al responded with by grabbing the cannon and force aim to the ground. The struggle is unavoidable as the safety is his top priority. Al began to mutter when the coast is clear. "What have he done to you?" He asked.

"I have done nothing, except reprogrammed him like you did, cousin." Beelzebmon answered.

Al's eyes went wide to hear that. He got knock off. The helmet cracked and that surprised him more because he was swatted with bare hand. "You have altered him completely." He gasped, knowing that he won't win against him.

"I know and I decide to do a test run, by raiding this mansion that was in his mind." said Beelzebmon with his arm raised to the surrounding. "And that's not all. I want something from here as well."

"What are you...?" Al wanted to asked but his question answered with a scream came from the gate. Al's eyes went wide and quickly ran towards the gate. Beelzebmon didn't chase, instead he slowly walked following him to the gate.

Al reached the gate and saw the hooded figure stood in front of the gate with a spear piercing Gennai. His eyes went wide seeing the tragedy. The girls weaken from the terror and Coronamon, Hawkmon, Gomamon and Calumon cowered in fear and terror. "What have you..." Al can't get a full sentence because of the horror.

The hooded figure didn't answer as Gennai's body shattered into data and absorbed by him. "Like I said, I want something from here." He spoke fluently. "And thanks to him, I got all the information I need about Digimons and all of you."

"What...?" Al said. Suddenly he heard a loud cracking crash coming from inside the mansion. He looked back at the mansion and saw a large hole. And beneath it, Andromon, Kazu, Renamon, Amelia and Rika were laying among the wall debris. Al's rage and fury starts to build up. "Why you...!" there is a hint of savage beast among his voice. He charged forward blindly.

The hooded figure snapped his finger and Beelzebmon suddenly appeared between him and Al. Beelzebmon used his shotgun and perform a rapid shot. Eight rapid shot and all of them are flawlessly direct hit, injuring him to the weakest state. The hooded figure laughed at his situation. "You are pathetic, and I shouldn't give you a second chance. I should kill you right here with your friends." He conjured a scythe and aimed towards Al's neck, ready to hack him off. Al waited his fate to be sealed as he closed his eyes in defeat and tears starts flowing. There was a pause moment and retract the scythe back. "However, I noticed that Gennai has done some research about you. I browse partial of his memories and found that you hide some potential that you don't know yet. And as I thought, you are exactly like me." He snapped his finger again and Beelzebmon walked out to the gate. "I hope you are ready the next time we met because it will be a death match, and I can see that you will dead eventually." The hooded figure laughed and starts walked back to the gate.

"Oh I almost forgot." The hooded figure remembered. He turned around to see Al. "I found a suitable name for me. My name is Edward." The hooded figure or Edward now, walked back to the gate and vanished.

Al gritted his teeth and clenching the ground in rage, fury, and defeat. "I swear upon Soul's grave, you will fall." He mumbled.
