Chapter Two

The wolf demon walked slowly as the cat followed. He even paused slightly when the cat fell through the snow and struggled to get out. But the moment Kadell realized his own weakness he growled and continued at a quicker pace, only to pause at the smallest whimper.

Liolyn was favoring one leg and Kadell noticed it.

Liolyn followed as the wolf climbed up frozen rocks, the cat's feet slipping on the ice. He bit back a cry of pain as his injured ankle twisted slightly. He jumped to the next rock and mewled as he slipped and had to use his claws to keep from falling down the steep rocks.

The wolf disappeared behind a boulder and the cat scrambled up the last rock. Liolyn panted slightly and brushed off powder white snow. Approaching the boulder he saw the wolf walk around, he saw a small opening. He walked in, turning when the small crevice did, and found himself in a cave. Light shone in from a small gap between the rocks near the top of the ceiling but that was more than enough light for him to see.

Furs littered the ground and were piled up high along one wall to act as a bed. Wood was stacked near the entrance and there was a hole in the furs that acted as a fire place. Burnt wood still laid in it but there was no ash. In the far corner was a large tub of fresh water.

"What the hell do you think you are doing?"

Liolyn's head snapped up and he backed up slightly from the death glare sent his way. Kadell was stiff with anger, claws flexed and lip drawn up to show his fangs. "Get out!"

Liolyn clenched his fists and held his ground. "No."

Kadell looked shocked. "What?"

"No! It's cold, I'm wet, and it's warm in here. So I'm not going anywhere."

They stared each other down, trying to make the other turn away first. Kadell sighed. "Take off your clothes."

"We just met but ok!"

Kadell shook with anger. "Not that, you idiot! Take off your clothes so that they can dry and you can get warm!"

Liolyn smirked. "There's an easier way to get war-" he was cut off by a large pelt colliding with his face.

"You can wrap that around yourself and there is a better chance of a blizzard in hell than me warming you like that."

"I was going to say by starting a fire. What were you thinking of?"

Kadell's eyes narrowed angrily. Liolyn almost giggled. This was going to be fun.

Liolyn started to peal off his soaking wet clothes, minding his injured ankle, and Kadell turned away to give him privacy and started a fire. The cat demon shivered violently as the cold air hit his bare skin, goose bumps rising on his body. He quickly wrapped the fur around him, his teeth chattering. He cast his host a glance. He stopped shivering, his mouth dropping open.

The wolf started to strip out of his snow covered furs. Liolyn gaped as the wolf's muscles bunched and flexed as he pulled off his shirt and threw it in a corner. His hands went to the tie of his pants when he growled. "Keep looking at me like that and I'll throw you out in the snow naked."

Liolyn quickly averted his eyes and crawled towards the fire, gazing at the flickering flames. If he wasn't sure that his dick and balls had frozen and fell off in the snow he would've had the hardest hard on in his life, rivaling steel itself.

He brought his injured foot out of the blanket and rubbed it lightly. It was just a sprain. It would heal in no time.

Kadell changed into his regular black pants and stretched. He didn't know how his sister made the material but it was warm and loose, perfect for just lying around in. He picked up a bowl and walked over to the large bucket of water and scooped up some. He grabbed two rags and went over to the fire and plopped down on the furs. He put the bowl on the ground and dipped the rag into it. He dabbed the end of one of the rags into it and brought it to his skinned arm. He bit back a hiss of pain.

He flinched as he felt a hand on his. He looked up and met golden eyes. Liolyn gave him a kind smile. "Here. Let me."

Kadell glared at him suspiciously before letting Liolyn take the rag from him.

The cat got more water on the rag and gently placed it on the wound. Kadell's throat constricted and he bit his lip.

"I'm Liolyn."

Kadell's eyes flashed to the cat demon who was staring at the wound. "Kadell."

Liolyn dipped the slightly bloodied rag back into the water and he looked up at the wolf. "Kahdahl."

Kadell stiffened and bit his lip, but this time it wasn't from the cool water on his burning wound. "Kadell."

"Kahdahl."

He shook his head. "No. Ka-del. Kadell"

"Kah-d-hal. Kahdahl."

Kadell glared at him. "Are you mocking my name or are you actually unable to say it?"

"Can't I just call you 'Kad'?"

"No!"

"Kaddy?"

"That's worse!"

Liolyn gave him a warm smile. "Then you're going to have to deal with my accent."

Kadell sighed and Liolyn got off all the dried blood. He dabbed at it a few times before deciding it was clean enough. He made a makeshift bandage out of the other rags. "All done. You have to be pretty strong to bring down an elk demon all by yourself. I thought wolf demons traveled in packs."

"They do."

"Then why-"

"I'd rather not talk about it."

Liolyn let it drop, for now. He'll get it out of the wolf demon eventually. Even if he made Kadell scream it.

Now that brought a lecherous smirk to the cat demon's lips. Oh what he would do if he wasn't half frozen and slightly injured.

Golden eyes ran up and down the well built body before him.

What he would do, indeed... rawr.

Kadell's skin suddenly crawled and he shifted a little further from the cat. He just got the craziest feeling he was going to be attacked.

He turned towards the cat, feeling obligated to return the favor. "Let me see your ankle."

Liolyn drew his foot closer to his body. "It's fine."

"Let me see it."

Liolyn's toes curled and he looked up at the wolf hesitantly.

Kadell rolled his eyes, exasperated. "I'm not going to hurt you."

Very slowly, his foot slid out of its confines and inched towards the wolf demon.

Liolyn flinched as he felt a clawed hand touch his ankle. The hand froze and tenderly took the foot into his hands. With surprising gentleness, Kadell's hand felt the slightly bruised bone. "It's just sprained. You'll live."

Liolyn looked up at him. Who knew a wolf demon could be so gentle. He watched as Kadell leaned back slightly, grabbing some bandaging, and started to wrap the ankle.

Liolyn was slightly uncomfortable with the silence. "Why did you let me eat your kill?"

Kadell kept his eyes on the ankle. "Because you helped me kill it."

Liolyn looked at him confused and Kadell added. "You distracted it by falling out of the tree."

Liolyn blushed. "Oh... I meant to do that."

Kadell rolled his eyes. "Sure."

"I really did! It was all part of my master plan."

"You're a horrible liar."

Liolyn chuckled. "Thank you... for feeding me and letting me stay here."

Kadell shrugged. "You looked half starved anyways and you were so pathetic I couldn't exactly leave you behind. It was like kicking a puppy." He tied off the bandage. "There."

Liolyn smiled sheepishly, mumbling a thank you as his foot slid back into the blanket. He was uncomfortable about his feet. They were small and several people linked it to another part of his anatomy.

He was not small, damn it.

"And besides," Kadell continued, "there's going to be a storm. You would've died out there dressed like you were."

"So... that means you care about me." Liolyn couldn't keep the hope out of his voice.

"That means I have a soul."

"Oh."

Kadell sat back and assessed the cat demon. "Why are you here? Cat demons live in the south."

Liolyn laughed nervously. "Oh, yeah. Well... I wanted to see a wolf demon."

Kadell looked at him curiously. "Why?"

"I just wanted to know if the stories were true. You know... about you guys being huge, vicious, and ugly." He smiled seductively. "They're not."

Kadell looked away from him. "Well, our rumors are true."

Liolyn leaned forward, invading the wolf's personal space. "That cat demons are beautiful, seductive, and great in bed."

"No. That you guys would hump a tree."

Liolyn immediately got out of his space and looked offended. "I would not! Well... Daemon might... and has. He got some nasty splinters. Poor fool."

Kadell looked at him surprised before laughing. Liolyn smiled, overjoyed that he was able to make the wolf laugh.

Hours passed and Liolyn was reclined on his side, facing the fire, with the pelt only around his lower body. Kadell sat across from him, laughing at something that the cat had said. It was the most beautiful thing Liolyn had ever seen. The fire had warmed him and unfrozen a certain part of his anatomy and were beginning to show signs of life. Thank god! His tail flicked freely, long ago breaking loose from the restriction of the furs.

Kadell watched as the tail flicked up and down, wrapping around the front of the cat and curling. The pelt was riding dangerously low on the cat's hip but the wolf refused to acknowledge it. "Your tail is strange."

Liolyn looked at his tail and it curled up by his chest. "How so?"

"It's orange and black striped with a white tip, like a tiger's, but it has spots and random lines of white."

Liolyn smiled. "Oh, that. My mother was a direct descendant from the Tigress, the creator of our clan. She was a pearl white tiger, meaning she was completely white. She was the most beautiful creature I have ever seen. She had the warmest smile and the gentlest touch. She was so warm and loving. I really loved her. My father was half Bengal tiger, half cheetah. I got my hair and mixed tail from him but my eyes," he used his two fingers on his right hand to point at them as he stared into Kadell's grey ones, "are my mothers. They're the only trait I have to show my heritage. My kids should have my mother's trait if I mate with the right female. That's what my grandfather kept telling me but," he shrugged, "I don't really care about genetics. If I love the girl, I'll mate with her but I haven't found that girl yet and I don't think I ever will."

Kadell dropped his gaze to the fire. "My father was a direct descendant, also. My mother died while giving birth to my sister. My father's the reason for my eyes. They turn silver when I... get excited. Whether it's the joy of the hunt, or kill, or-"

"Sex?"

Kadell yelped as he was pinned down. He wasn't even aware that had Liolyn prowled over to him.

Liolyn looked into his eyes, hovering inches above his body. Those eyes were glinting with something predatory.

Kadell snarled and struggled. "What are you doing?"

Liolyn lowered his head and nuzzled the soft skin behind his ear, making the wolf demon freeze. "Seeing if they turn silver." A hot tongue flicked out and slid up the smooth skin. "Now this should be fun."
