"You... you lied to me." Sig backed away as he stared wide eyed at Addan. "What are you?"

Addan stood his ground and avoided eye contact with Sig. "I'm sorry, Sig. It was for my own good." Sig looked back to the clump of white fur in his hand. Sig got up and started towards the door, but Addan stopped him.

"Please, don't say a word. I'll explain everything right now, just please, don't say a word."

Sig stared at him for a moment, then turned back around and sat on the bed with him. "So... What are you?"

Addan sighed, but managed to smile a little bit. "I'm... One of the last arctic foxes in this city." Addan waited a moment to let Sig soak this in.

"But... The fur? You're a red fox, that sheds into a brown one?"

"I dyed my fur to be this color. It has taken me a while to perfect it, but I'd say the results come out good. My brown fur is just my summer coat, and when it comes in I dye my fur black, so I look like a black fox." Addan let things soak in for a little longer.

"So... Who are you then? Tell me your story, the true story."

Addan let out a big puff of air and began: "My name is Vadim Sosnovka, Jr. My dad was an ambassador for our president, until that damn ferret betrayed us all. The otter at the diner, Brit, she's the daughter of my dad's old friend, who is pretty high ranking up on the presidents' hill. She tells me everything that she hears from her dad. I've known her since I moved here seven years ago. Then there's the worst day of my life. The dream I had last night happened, except you weren't in it. Me and my dad were running through the streets as arctic foxes around us were beat and drug away, never to be seen again. I tripped over a body and let go of my dad's paw, and when he turned around to come back for me, he was shot. I have no idea what happened to my mother...

"The cat that had shot him grabbed a hold of me and started to drag me towards a truck, but I threw him to the ground and stomped on his throat. I ran as fast as I could in to a nearby park, and hunkered down for over 15 hours. Luckily I knew my parents' bank account information, because they had me buy things for them sometimes. So I bought some dye at a nearby store and colored my fur for the first time. The next few weeks were horrible. I saw on the news as they killed thousands of my kind, then when they dwindled out they started doing executions in the courtyard. They announced that anybody caught housing an arctic fox would be killed as well, so I never looked for a place to live. I just want this all to end, I want to do something about it, but I have nothing. Our government is too regulated, and I don't know anybody to help me out. I'm really sorry I lied to you, Sig. I just didn't want you or me to get hurt because of what I am."

Sig Stared at him for a few minutes more, then gave him a hug. "It's ok, Vadim, we'll get through this. I promise you, I will help in any way that I can. What do you think we should do?"

"We'll keep this a secret from your parents, but we need to get me some dye. When we get back, we'll brush out all of my old fur that we can get, and start over." Vadim stood up and went to grab his jacket near Sig's door, but froze in place when the door clicked and swung open. Vadim was face to face with James, who looked down at the pretty noticeable brown patch of fur on Vadim's white Chest.

"Umm... What is going on here? And what are you?" Sig got up quickly and tried to interfere.

"Dad, we can explain." Vadim put his arm out and motioned for Sig to go back to his bed.

"Well Mr. Delano, my name is Vadim Sosnovka, and I'm an arctic fox. My parents didn't kick me out, they were killed on the massacre day, and I've been dying my fur and staying out of trouble ever since then. I'm sure you don't want me to bother you, so I'm going to leave now. I don't want you to get killed over me."

"You're not going anywhere." James said firmly. Vadim looked down at his feet and sighed. "You're not the only arctic fox I've come across in the past few years. There are still quite a few of you out there that are just like you. I won't say a word about what you are, just make it so you don't get caught. Ok, bud?" Vadim smiled a little bit and looked directly in to James' eyes.

"Yes, James. We are on our way out to buy some fur dye right now, We'll be back in a little bit. Also, do you know any of these other arctics? I would love to meet them."

"Ok, just do what you can, ok? And I will talk to one of them when I get back to work on Monday, and I'll invite him over for dinner." Vadim extended his paw, James following suit, and they shook.

"Once again James, thank you very much. We'll be back very soon."

With that, the two young foxes walked out of the apartment and started down the elevator. Vadim wasn't sure where they were going yet, so he decided to ask Sig.

"So, where is a place around here that sells dye?" The elevator door opened and the pair started walking towards the shopping area.

"Yeah, there's a fur care store over here that should be open still." The two foxes walked around a corner and sure enough, there was a store called "Delite-Fur". Vadim always felt a little uneasy going in to these stores for a number of reasons, but this time the reason was because of the pink and white rabbit working there. He looked like a real life Easter bunny with his light pink fur and cheesy buck toothed smile, wearing a flamboyant vest and some weird board shorts.

The rabbit tried to walk up to the foxes, but Vadim quickly dodged behind a shelf, with Sig following quickly behind. Vadim was frantically searching for black and silver dye, but realized he was in a shampoo section. He saw the rabbit closing in behind them, trying to ask if they needed help. Vadim darted around another corner, but Sig stayed and struck up a conversation with the lad. He finally found a box of black and a box of silver dye, and quickly grabbed them. The rabbit saw Vadim walking towards the register, so he ended the talk with Sig and got behind the counter and waited.

"So what are you two cuties doing tonight?" Sig got close to Vadim and put his arm around his waist, while Vadim gave the rabbit an expressionless stare before speaking up.

"We're dying fur." Vadim threw a $20 on the counter, and the rabbit quickly gave him his change, taking note that the fox didn't want to be bothered.

"Have a super night, you two!"

Vadim didn't say a word as they left, as Sig chuckled a little bit."What's the matter, Vaddy? Is he not your type?"

Vadim looked at him and smiled. "No, but I'm sure he'd want to be in that thong you picked out the other day." They both had a good laugh as they entered the elevator and started heading back up.

"So why did you get silver?" Sig asked as he tilted his head slightly.

"Most black foxes have a little silver in them, so it makes it look more convincing."

Sig smiled at this and started fantasizing. "I think you'll look sexy as hell in black." Vadim just chuckled and gave Sig a small pat on the rump as the elevator door opened.

When they got back to the Apartment, Sig found a second brush and they both went to work. Since it was still early in the spring, his old coat was becoming difficult to remove since it was still very much alive. But luckily Sig had a special brush that took care of this problem. Vadim went by himself to the bathroom to finish his private areas, and then walked back out in his boxers. After over an hour of brushing and two trash bags of hair later, they were done.

Sig gasped as he saw a very handsome brown fox with a lighter brown underside before him. "Jeez Vad, I don't want to dye your fur. You look too amazing like this."

Vadim gave Sig a look of discontentment before replying. "You and me both. But, I'll still look good as a black fox, so don't you fret." The two foxes spent the next two hours dying Vadim's fur, turning his chocolate colored coat in to a sable black. Vadim, having done this before, added the small silver highlights and made the tip of his tail silver. It was already late at night, but he had to let the dye set in before he could wash it out. And to make matters worse, he had to stand so the dye wouldn't rub off on to furniture.

For the next hour and a half, Vadim stood around and watched some TV with Sig. The dye seemed to burn into his skin, but at the same time it felt good to him, like someone was scritching him all over. When the time finally came, he took a very black shower and washed all of the dye out. He then dried himself and looked in the mirror, looking like a complete different fox. He went back in to Sig's room, who in one night saw a red fox turn into an arctic fox, and finally the black fox before him.

"I think I can get used to this black fox look." Sig said as he licked his lips.

"Too bad for you I have to sleep in my room tonight."

"Pff... I know you want to sleep with me just as much as I want to sleep with you."

Vadim looked down and sighed. "Yeah... Speaking of bed, I'm really tired." Vadim walked up to Sig and gave him a long hug, then lightly kissed him on the nose. "Goodnight, Sigvard."

"Goodnight, Vadim, sleep well."

The next day, Vadim woke up the sound of James' urgent sounding voice.

"Vadim, quick! Wake up! You need to see this." Vadim groggily got up and looked at the time; 10:17 AM. He lumbered out in to the living and quickly shot awake as he saw the news. On the TV screen was their president, on the podium and looking proud. The news headline was saying that he just announced himself as Dictator of their nation, and that he was ready to move the country forward. He had Doberman and Rottweiler dogs all around him, in uniform and holding M-16's. He was also saying that anyone in his way would be dealt with brute force. Vadim let out a small yelp as he watched this, knowing this would mean nothing but terror. Sig, who was sitting on the couch, grabbed Vadim and took him to his room. They both sat down on Sig's bed and looked at each other with worried eyes.

"Vad... We need to do something. As crazy as this sounds, he needs to be taken out. I'm not sure how we are going to do it, but we need to."

Vadim gave him a stare. "You saw those guards, Sig. There's not much we can do. Besides, those are his personal guards. That's not even including the police force or the military. Both of which are based near his palace." Sig gave him an evil smile.

"Ah yes, very true. But, what we can do is start a revolution. Hear me out on this: What if we were to stealthily take out guards, or part of the police force? It would show that no matter how strong they seem, they can still be weak. It could show the people of this nation what is truly right, and it might inspire them to join us. What do you think?"

Vadim sat and thought hard about this. One of the things he wanted most was to avenge his parents' death. Hell, even to avenge the death of his fellow foxes. It suddenly dawned on him that this could be his calling in life. His training could help a lot with this, and it would be for a good reason.

"Let's do it, Sig."
