Addan never realized how doing nothing can make a day go by fast. After relaxing, the two foxes played more games and talked about their interests and funny stories that they had in their lives, then went in to the kitchen and tried to outdo each other on making the weirdest thing they could. Sig won with a hot-dog banana split. They then played games for the rest of the day, and before Addan knew it, it was 5:30 and Sig's parents were home. It didn't take long for them to call Addan in to the living room to talk. Sig went to get up too, but Addan told him to stay and wait. He walked in to the living room slowly and sat at a couch across from the couple.

"So, Addan, where is your family?" Addan cleared his throat and noticed out of the corner of his eye Sig kneeling behind the couch that his mom and dad were at. He tried not to pay attention to him, but failed.

"Umm... Well, my parents kicked me out because they told me I was a failure. But being rich, they gave me a good sum of money to live off of. They said to come back to them when I get a life." Addan sighed and looked at his feet, all the while Carol didn't even change an emotion to her expressionless face.

"Why were you a failure in their eyes?" James Asked.

"My parents had very high expectations in me, but I just didn't want to meet their standards, they were way too high. Since then I've been really alone and depressed, I contemplated suicide but couldn't go through with it in the end. I still feel as worthless now as I did three years ago." James took off his glasses and rubbed his eyeballs.

"Ok, so now tell me this. Is there anything bad you have done since then?"

"With the exception of sleeping in public, no I have not. I'm still trying to find myself, but I need help." James and his wife murmured a few things, and then came to a conclusion.

"Ok, we've been talking since last night about this and decided that we are going to put our trust in you." Sig jumped from behind the couch and gave Addan a hug. "You're rent will be $300 a month, and you pay for your own groceries. I'll type up a contract for you to sign. And remember what I said earlier, do not hurt any of us or you will be at the gallows." The two older male foxes stood up and shook paws.

"Thank you Mr. Delano." James smiled at him.

"You can call me James, Addan."

Addan and Sig went back in to Sig's room and sat on his bed, Sig sitting quite close to Addan. They played games for a little bit, then ate dinner, then played more games and talked about themselves until about 9:30. Sig had to tell Addan something, and started to feel nervous.

"Addan, I want to ask you something... And feel free to say no." Sig started shaking a little.

"Ok, go for it." Sig let out a small sigh.

"Would you want to sleep in my bed with me tonight? I just get really lonely and scared at night because my last mate was an arctic fox and they came and took him from me in the middle of the night when we were sleeping together, and I never really recovered from that."

Addan paused for a minute and thought to himself. 'I just met him yesterday, this seems kind of weird. But at the same time, I do think he is really cute and has a great personality. Not to mention I owe my life to him, so I'll cheer him up and say yes.' Addan put an arm around Sig's neck.

"Yes, I will. But what about your parents? Do they work tomorrow? I think it would be kinda weird if they walked in on us..."

"Yes, they work, and they know I like to sleep in, so they won't bother us. To them, they thought my last mate was just a friend, so they don't know the emotional pain I went through. I don't understand why our government has to kill all of the arctic foxes, it makes no sense to me." Sig started to cry a little, and Addan gave him a shoulder to cry on as he held him close.

"How long ago?" Sig sniffed a little...

"Two years."... Then started crying more.

"I agree, I'm completely against it. It's our President, although he's more like a dictator. For some reason he sees no place for them in our nation. It's ok though, I'm here for you." Sig sniffled a little, and then nose bumped Addan and smiled a bit.

"I have something to confess to you... Please don't be mad." Addan tilted his head while Sig gave him a hug and whispered in his ear. "Last night when you were in bed and everyone else was sleeping, I crawled in bed with you and cuddled you to help get you warm. I understand if you get upset..." Addan murred lightly and got a big smile on his face.

"Hehe, I have a confession for you. Last night, I couldn't keep my eyes off of your beautiful fur and your cute smile." Sig nuzzled him and grinned, then got nose to nose with the fox.

"Oh please, my fur isn't that great. Look at yours; it has a perfect orange glow to it. And your ventral fur is the whitest white I have ever seen. And don't even get me started on your eyes... You're gorgeous." Addan put his ear back after he said this, then licked Sig's nose and tossed him on the bed.

"So what are you trying to say?" Addan said with a smile. Sig blushed deep under his fur and became bashful.

"Hehe, that maybe you and I could go on a date tomorrow night?" Sig gave him his cheesy smile again, and Addan came up to him and kissed him on the cheek.

"Yes, Sig, I will go on a date with you tomorrow night. What do you want to do?" Sig smiled happily and brought Addan down to cuddle with him and squeeze him.

"I was thinking we could go out for dinner, then maybe take a walk through a park. Not the same one I found you in though, haha." Addan nuzzled him and felt his sleepiness coming on.

"That sounds fine to me, now let's get some rest. I'm really tired." Addan got up and took off his shirt and pants, but left on his boxers. Sig frowned at this.

"Aww, I don't get to see all of you?" Addan chuckled and watched as Sig followed suit.

"No, too early for that. Besides, you probably felt me up last night anyways." Addan stuck his tongue out at Sig, who giggled a little. Sig turned off his system and TV and they both crawled under the sheets together and cuddled, drifting off to sleep in each other's arms. And for the first time in a long time, they were both happy.

Addan was running for his life. He turned around to see a cat in a police uniform chasing him down, and a lot of other furs in the area in panic as some were being chased as well. He was in the downtown area, and the tall buildings were all around him. Looking up, he saw the president of his nation on a large outdoor TV screen; an older ferret that was sending out the message that all red foxes were to be exterminated. He looked ahead and saw Sig running ahead of him, telling him to hurry up. He reached out and grabbed Sigs paw as they ran together, and Addan looked back to see the gaining police cat running fast. He looked forward and instead of Sig, it was his dad holding his paw and running. Addan tripped and let go, and the instant his dad turned around the cat had got him. Addan's dad went to run back, and Addan heard a loud bang as he shot awake.

Sig woke up next to him with a worried look on his face, as Addan tried to figure what just happened. It was morning time, and his whole world was spinning from his nightmare.

"Are you ok, Addan?" Sig nuzzled and stared in to his eyes.

"Y... Yeah. I just had a bad nightmare is all." Addan gave Sig a hug and held him close. "It was that our government said that red foxes were to be killed, like the arctic foxes were. There were so many of us in the streets, being beaten and taken away. I was running with you, holding your paw, but then... I don't know. I just don't want to talk about it right now." Sig held him for a little bit longer.

"It's ok Addy, I'm here for you. Nothing bad will happen to us, I promise. Now let's go eat some breakfast, I'm starving." Addan stopped and smiled at him, then nuzzled him.

"You're a good guy, Sig. Let's go out to eat breakfast, this way we can show each other the town before our date tonight."

"That sounds great to me, but I need to shower first. You can use my shower, and I'll go in my parents' bathroom."

The two foxes jumped out of bed and went their separate ways, each taking a quick shower before returning to Sig's room to get dressed. After a few minutes, they went downstairs and started walking towards the diner that they first saw each other at.

"So Sig, you're still in high school, aren't you?" There were quite a few furs on the street as Addan picked out the few foxes that were in the crowd.

"Yeah, this is my last year. I don't know what I'm going to do after that though..."

"I know how you feel, I don't really have a direction in life right now. When I was younger, my parents put me through numerous martial arts and fighting courses, so I know how to do that. Only problem is, I don't see how that can help me in life." Sig shrugged as they started entering the downtown area.

"I don't know, I'm sure something will come up for you. Have you ever wondered what's beyond the walls of our city?"

"I think about that every day. I tried to leave here about six months ago, but when I got to the gates the guards told me that our city only allows the higher ups to leave. I looked through the gates though, and it was heavily forested with a road going through." The pair were only about a block away from the diner at this point.

"That's interesting. If things get any worse here, I say we find a way to escape. I doubt the rest of the world is like this." Addan let out a big sigh.

"Yeah... I'm sure it isn't."

Addan and Sig walked up to the diner after a few more minutes of talking, and they entered and saw Brit the otter working as usual. And also as usual, she stopped what she was doing and gave Addan a big hug.

"Hi Brit, how's it goin?" She smiled and liked the fact that Addan seemed a lot happier.

"I'm good, you seem really happy, what's up?"

"I have a place to live now." Addan put his arm around Sig. "His parents offered me to stay with them. It has really brought me out of my slump."

"Good! Now what should I get for you, Addy? The usual?"

"Hehe, you know me too well, darling. Just add eggs with it. What do you want Sig?" Sig answered as they sat down at a booth.

"I'll have French toast, please." The otter walked up to the cook at told him their orders, then came back to talk to Addan more.

"Ya know Addy, word on the street is there aren't too many white foxys left. Also they say that the president is going to be planning his next move now that most of them are gone." The two foxes gave her a worried look.

"Any word on what that's going to be?" Brit shrugged.

"Only the higher ups know that..."

After eating breakfast, the pair walked further in to town and explored together. Addan took him to the top of his favorite building, where they stayed for about an hour. They then proceeded to do some window shopping, which wasn't much because the government had big restrictions on what was sold. Especially towards weapons and electronics.

The day went by pretty quickly, and Addan and Sig enjoyed their date at a fancier restaurant. After that Sig led him to a park closer to home, and they strolled through it hand in hand without a single other fur around. It seemed almost magical to Addan; the park had dimly lit lights down a forested path, each light a different color. The night sky was fairly visible through the trees, and it was quite warm out despite the storm they had a few days before.

"You know Sig, today has been the best day I've had in years. I'm really happy that we met." Sig stopped walking and gave him a hug, and accidently pulled out a small clump of hair from Addan's neck. He decided to keep quiet for now that Addan was starting to shed his winter coat.

"Me too. You're a really great guy Addan." The two were nose to nose with each other, and Addan curled his tail around the both of them. It seemed like they both put their ears back and closed their eyes at the same time, and went in and locked lips for their first kiss. It seemed to last an eternity for Addan, as he felt the butterflies in his stomach lifting his spirits high and taking him away. He started to feel his sheath tingle, and he tried to ignore it thinking it was not the right time. After the eternity passed, they both looked in to each other's eyes and nuzzled each other.

"That was... amazing Addan." Addan smiled and pet Sig on the head.

"You were better." They continued to hold each other for a minute before breaking off. Sig started to walk back through the park, with Addan following.

"We better get home before it gets too late. My parents might start worrying."

The pair walked back to their apartment and when they got home, it was close to 8:00 PM. Sig's parents didn't say a word when they walked in, and they went straight to Sig's room, as usual. Addan sat down on Sig's bed, while Sig rummaged through his dresser for something.

"Whatcha doin there, Sig?"

"Not much, just looking for something." After rummaging for a minute more, he pulled out an undercoat brush, then turned around and attacked Addan with it. Addan didn't know what was going on as the fox pounced him, and he laughed. But then he felt the brush go through his ventral fur, and panicked as he remembered what time of year it was. He looked up to Sig sitting there, shocked at what he was seeing. The fox had a big tuft of white hair in the brush, but the short fur below where he took it from was brown. Addan looked avoided eye contact as he curled his tail around and put his ears back.

"Sig... I'm not exactly what you think I am..."
