Monster I Have Become

Chapter 3

**Honestly not sure how this chapter will come out. New character. After this, new characters won't come as often.**

"Oh, um, you got that? I don't know what you are talking about." I said in a rush and with noticeable nervousness. "Yeah, I did. And I know that you're lying about not knowing. If you didn't kill them, then how come they randomly disappeared in your story?" Shadow said to me accusingly.

"Alright, you got me, I...I did kill the Mightyenas. It's just, when I saw what they had done to Blades, it just got me so mad that I...I lost it." I said, a bit nervously but truthfully, in answer. "Well, you sure had a good reason." She said calmly back to me.

"WHAT!!??" Me and Blades yelled out at her. "What? He did have a good reason, and if it was to save you Blades, there is no way he could have done it out of bloodlust." She looked at us weirdly before answering. *Says you.* 'Rukan shut up. You love ruining my day don't you?' *Pretty much.*

After that, we pretty much just talked. Me and Blades talked about my previous solo training sessions and how I need to do things completely different now that I have a training partner. For most of the time Shadow just sat there listening intently. She would occasionally jump in and speak a bit about how she wanted to train with certain types of fight styles. When she did, we would instantly shut up and listen to her.

When it got to be about midnight, Blades and Shadow bid me farewell and went back to their respective homes to get some sleep. Just because dark type Pokémon like the night doesn't mean we don't live through the day too.

The next day I woke up to bright lights shining through the hole into my eyes. 'Why is it so bright? And why does it smell like smoke?' Right after that thought I shot up and jumped out of the tree and into a forest set completely ablaze. I could hear many screams and cries of help, but one in particular caught in my hearing.

"HELP ME!!! PLEASE, SOMENODY HELP ME!!! I CAN'T MOVE MY LEG!!!" The voice split into my hearing and made me wince before I took off in the direction I heard it from. *What are you doing? You could die!* 'Why do you care?' *Because if you do die I could probably die!!* 'Shut up, Rukan. I am doing this whether you say so or not.'

I could still hear the voice splitting the air and I jumped over a burning log before coming face-to-face with a wall of fire. I could tell the voice was on the other side. Now that I could hear it clearly it sounded feminine and young. "Hold on, kid, I am gonna be right there!" I shouted at the flames. After I yelled out, the cries immediately stopped, probably from the shock and joy of hearing another's voice.

I had to find a way past this wall of fire. 'Guess I can only do this one way.' I thought before backing up a little and bunching up my legs. *NO! Ryun! Don't do it!* I started running. *NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!* Rukan started yelling at me. I jumped. After that, everything pretty much slowed to a crawl. I could see the trees rushing slowly past and I could see a small opening in the flames slowly begin to grow bigger. It started out as a small crack that was made by a few flames growing shorter than the ones around it. Then the flames around the shorter ones began to shorten as well.

When my head made it to the crack, it had grown to about the size of the hole in my tree. As my head went through the hole everything started speeding up. Unbeknownst to me, as my forelegs made it through the hole, the flames started getting bigger under me. When my back legs made it to the hole, it was once again a small crack. As my back legs sailed through flames, I screamed in pain from the flames licking at my legs. I hit the ground hard and rolled to a stop.

I slowly got up, trying my best to ignore my own pain and look for the source of the voice. I saw a burning tree on the other side of the clearing I had landed on and went to go investigate it. As I drew nearer to the tree, I could hear the crackling of the burning wood but what I focused on was the smallest noise I heard. It sounded like whimpering.

"Hello? Is someone there?" I asked in the direction of the tree.

Immediately, the whimpering stopped and I heard a very small voice answer me. "Can you help me?" The voice asked me. "I'm not sure but I will try my best." I said in answer.

I made a dash for the tree and headbut a part of it that wasn't burning. As I hit it, I heard a small scream and a small crack. I quickly looked up after I heard her (whoever is there sounded feminine) scream. "Are you okay?!" I said quickly, worried I had rolled the log onto her.

"Yes, yes, I'm fine. I just didn't expect that to happen." I heard her say. "Ok, tell me if the log is rolling onto you, ok?" I asked her. "Okay."

I started rapidly scratching the log to split into a smaller piece and roll it off of her. I could see grooves in the log in-between my scratches, but they weren't very deep. "AAAGHH! This isn't working!" I screamed into the air.

I angrily swiped at the log and turned away. 'How am I going to move this thing without hurting her?' I thought angrily to myself.

"Uh, Mr. Umbreon, I think it worked." I heard a small voice say tentatively behind me.

I quickly turned around to see an ash covered Eevee limping her way towards me and the remnants of the burning log laying scattered around behind her. 'Did I do that?!' *Man, are you oblivious. When you 'angrily swiped at the log' you used a Shadow Claw and cut into tiny little bits. Congratulations." Rukan said to me, ending it with sarcasm evident in his voice. 'Really?!!' "Um, Mr. Umbreon? Shouldn't we get out of here?" I heard the small voice cut straight through my thoughts.

"Yeah, yeah, we need to get out of here." I said while shaking my head a little to straighten out my thoughts. "Okay, I'm going to pick you up in my maw, just be limp, okay?" I told the little Eevee. "Okay." She said back to me, all-be-it a little too eagerly.

I picked her up by her scruff and dashed off in the direction of my tree so I could get a bearing as to where I was. I ran through the burning trees towards my home and when I reached it, I almost decided to lie down and just give up. It had probably been burning since I left, because it was just a pile of ashes. When I stopped in front of the pile, a wind blew through the forest and blew away the pile like it was a speck of dust in the wind.

"Why did we stop, Mr. Umbreon?" I heard the little Eevee ask me. "Nothing, we need to get going." I told her, albeit a bit muffled because she was in my maw.

So I ran. And I wasn't about to stop running for anything. I was running towards the clearing I went to for past school because it is the closest place I know to the edge of the forest. It wouldn't be long now. I burst into the clearing to the sight of over half the village trying to get inside the clearing. There was so much talking and crying that I couldn't think straight. 'Everyone I know is here! Why can't I think of what to do?!' I yelled at myself in my own thoughts.

While going over my thoughts, I had unconsciously closed my eyes and therefore could not see Shadow and Blades come towards me from inside the crowd. "Ryun!" I heard over all the other voices. I looked up to see Shadow standing right in front of me, her body was covered in a thin layer of ash and she looked like she had a small burn on her left back leg.

"Ryun, we need to get everyone out of here! They don't understand that this place is going to get burned down in a couple minutes!" She yelled at me, although even though she was right in front of me I could barely hear her over the others in the clearing. When she told me this, I instantly thought up a plan to get everyone out of the forest. 'I am going to yell at everyone!' *Oh, boy. This will be fun!*

I set down the little Eevee. "I suggest you two cover your ears." I said to Shadow and the Eevee.

"HEY, EVERYONE SHUT UP AND LISTEN OR YOU ARE ALL GOING TO DIE!!!!" (Had such fun imagining him saying this!) I yelled out at the crowd. It instantly got them quiet. I looked down to see the little Eevee with her head in the dirt and her paws over her ears. I looked back up to see everyone, including Blades and Shadow, looking at me with a dumbfounded look plastered on their faces.

"This is how it is going to work," I looked towards Blades and Shadow. "Blades and Shadow will take up the front and lead everyone out of the forest." At this, the whole clearing broke up in broken arguments of either staying here or going back in to look for friends and family.

"HEY!!! I know you all want to find your friends and family or stay here and be safe. But, guess what? That isn't happening! We need to get you guys out of here, and then I will lead a search party through the forest!" I yelled out at the crowd. At this, most of the arguments died down. "Alright, let's get moving. The line will go by two, and nobody will step out of the line unless me or my friends here say so. I will be taking up the back." I told the crowd. I nodded at Blades and Shadow to get it moving and they went over, to the other edge of the clearing and started lining the crowd up.

*Way to take charge, Mr. Big Shot!* 'Shut up, Rukan! This isn't the time!' "Eevee, are you ready?" I asked the little ball of fur curled at my toes. She had picked herself up during my little speech and had curled up at my toes for some comfort before we headed off. She looked up at me and lightly nodded her head.

I picked her up in my scruff and calmly waited for everyone to file out of the clearing. When everyone did, I set out right behind them. Not even before I got out of the clearing, I heard someone burst out of the bushes behind me and I turned around. A Vaporeon was standing there, looking around frantically. Right after I noticed the Vaporeon, the little Eevee squealed. "MOMMY!!" She struggled to get out of my grip and I gently set her down.

"Honey, I found her!" The Vaporeon yelled at something behind her. An Espeon burst through the bushes shortly after the statement and quickly nuzzled up against his mate and child. "Um, I am really sorry to ruin this, but we were heading out of the forest just now, so we need to get moving." I said a little nervously. 'Who would want to break up such a special moment? Rukan, I don't want to hear it.' *Damn.* "Of course! Come on!" The Espeon said to his family.

We ran out of the clearing and quickly caught up with the crowd from earlier. We walked on for about an hour before everyone in front of us stopped suddenly. "Wait here!" I said quickly to the Eon family before bolting past the line towards Blades and Shadow. As I drew near the front, I saw one of Blades' Razor Wind attacks go out into the forest on the right of the trail. "What the hell?" I said to myself.

I reached the front to see Blades and Shadow standing over a charred object in their battle stances and growling threateningly towards the bushes on either side of us. "What are you doing?! You are going to scare everyone!" I said to them as I came running up. "Like seeing someone burned alive isn't enough to be scared!" Blades quickly said to me. I took a second look at the charred object and then recognition came across my face. That is a Rattata!

Then I could see Blades jumping over a flamethrower attack that came out of the bushes. When he landed he turned towards everyone. "Follow me and be quick about it!!" He yelled out before darting down the path. The whole crowd came roaring past me. I chose to take up the rear again and help any stragglers. I fell in behind the Eon family.

Not long after, a flamethrower attack came out of the bushes and hit the Espeon in the side of the head. He fell over and rolled a bit before stopping. I stopped, as well as the Vaporeon holding Eevee, and looked towards him. He wasn't moving at all. I could see from where I was standing that the attack hit him in the temple and caved in his skull.

The Vaporeon made the move to go to the Espeon, but before I could even say "stop" two flamethrowers came out of the bushes coming for me and the Vaporeon. We both saw it coming, but the Vaporeon wasn't quick enough to move. She bowed her head and let it hit her. Her legs gave out and she hit the ground.

I had jumped over the flamethrower aimed at me and proceeded to dodge more and more coming at me. As I was in the air, I shot Shadow Balls in the directions I saw the flamethrowers coming from. The attacks quickly stopped.

I turned around to see the little Eevee crying into her mother's stomach. While I was dodging, the Vaporeon had curled around Eevee and protected her from all the flamethrowers that came their way. She had about five immediate burn marks on her body. I ran over to see the Vaporeon barely breathing. She lifted her head and only said four words to me. "Take...care of...her." Before her head fell back and she died.

"Well, now I am contemplating letting you live when I heard you became an Umbreon." I heard a deep, gruff voice say behind me.

I turned around to see a Flareon standing there with a wide grin on his face.

"D-Dad?"

**I really hate doing this to Ryun you guys. I kid you not, the reason this took me so long was because I didn't want to write this part out because of how messed up it is, to Ryun of course. Comments are welcome and please rate. Also, I am wondering what some of you thought the "charred object" was when I first mentioned it. So please leave your answer in the comments. Another reason this took me so long, my sister couldn't think of a name for herself (yes, my sis is the eevee in the story) and also I went to the beach several times last week and got sun burned pretty badly. Still hurts. Now to get chapter 4! *slams head against desk* "WAKE UP!!"**
