Upon entering Viridian Forest, John looked around, seeing nothing inconspicuous. The Pikachu peered out as well, keeping an eye out behind him in case the Rockets started to move out. Things seemed too quiet, there wasn't even the sound of a bug pokemon skittering in the brush to be heard. Deathly quiet, and it only seemed to be worse. He had defied Executive James earlier, but barely. Janice pulled through on that one, and so did the Pikachu. If Ash was really out here, he'd be sure to like to hear some news.

After what seemed like forever walking, Pikachu's ears pricked up and turned forward. John, sensing that Pikachu heard something he didn't, ducked down behind a bush and listened, hearing very soft voices far off. He weighed the possibility of what it could be, and decided to risk it, creeping forward slowly. After silently pushing aside some brush, he saw two pairs of sneakers, obviously not Rocket dressing code.

"You know they are moving out to try and get to Pewter with Pokemon and supplies. Even Ash knows this. The real question is how the Rockets got a hold on every city this fast." He heard one say.

"Well, there is always the political side of things. That being said, Rocket could have slipped under the radar. The only two places they haven't gotten a hold on is Pallet and Cinnabar Island. There have been sightings at those places, but Professor Oak and Blaine must be keeping them back. Besides, there's word that there's another island not too far off of Cinnabar that is completely void of life."

"How's that relevant?"

John saw another set of sneakers come up, but obviously more adult-sized. "Because it's free territory. I doubt that Rocket would use it, but you never know."

John heard the sound of heavy machinery coming up from the south, probably the Striker. He stood up and watched, knowing that the Rockets were moving out. Several Grunts immediately began battles, while a few were digging into the supplies and using those Pokemon to try and smooth things over.

"That's it, I'm getting tired of sitting around and waiting for a victory to be decided," Janice said mentally, as she let herself out and flew around the Striker, keeping herself hidden with a blinding light as she lulled everyone to sleep. But something stuck out over all the sleeping Grunts, a purple Ninetales with a clear Unown N on the middle tail, who was creating a firestorm as a defensive and offensive measure. John watched as Janice knocked it unconcious with a well placed Bubblebeam, then flew off and probably transformed into her human form, John tossing some clothes over the brush so she can dress herself.

As he turned around, the Pikachu turned her head in confusion, then they were met by a tall man wearing a blue vest, blue jeans, sneakers, and a cap with a pokeball insignia, but his face showed a middle-aged man with a short beard and mustache, his eyes telling that he had seen many things and wonders.

As John jutted out his hand in a welcoming jesture, he said, "It's a pleasure to meet you Ash Ketchum, I'm John..." Janice walked out of the brush fully dressed, "And this is Janice, my partner."

Ash shook John's hand, "A pleasure to have some help from a fellow free trainer. Now tell me what a young trainer is doing with an extremely rare set of Pokemon like this white Pikachu and... 'Janice'?"

All three of them tilted their heads in confusion to Ash's last part of his question, then he explained. "I know Janice is a Mew, so explain yourself John."

Janice walked up with a fire in her eyes. "I've been with John for about five years, and never had he hurt me. It wasn't until two days ago that he actually allowed me to be with him as his partner pokemon, and his starter pokemon!"

Ash nodded, then checked everything out, John, Janice, and the Pikachu following him. "Damn... he's not here..."

"Ash... your Pikachu is being held withing Pewter City... as part of a breeding experiment headed by Jessica." John blurted out, causing Ash to whirl around with shock and rage in his eyes.

"If you wish to know how I know, I dislocated James' arm to get the info, and this white Pikachu is your Pikachu's daughter." He further explained, the white electric mouse leaping onto Ash's shoulder, in the exact same way his Pikachu would, stunning Ash. John let the 'family reunion' continue, with Janice as the mediator, while he stepped up and examined the Ninetails. Indeed, the purple vulpine was of different color, and bore the unown mark. After making sure that the right pokeball withdrew the kitsune, he attached the pokeball onto his belt, then called Oak.

"Professor, I've met up with Ash. Also, the Rockets had an Unknown-marked Pokemon that they were transporting to Pewter. Do you think these marks might mean something?"

As Oak pondered the possibilities, Ash walked up and let the Pikachu enter John's bag, "I heard somewhere that Pokemon bearing Unown letters are part of a prophecy. I can't completely recall it, but it mentioned something about a terrible darkness overwhelming the land and only these Pokemon, once brought together, could stop it. There's twenty-six Unown letters, right?"

Oak nodded, then looked something up on his computer, "Ah, here it is, I'll e-mail the results I've found on this prophecy. Thanks Ash. My, have you grown. Last time I saw you, you were heading out to challenge other leagues."

"That was before the Rockets surged up, but I doubt the Rockets are the 'overwhelming darkness' described in the prophecy. Anyway, I know where Pikachu's at, the only problem is getting into Pewter, it's been on lockdown for awhile."

Janice piped up, looking at all the Rockets. "Well, let's tie up these guys and use some of their clothes to sneak in. They'd only let other Rockets in, and besides, there's no description of me in this form."

John turned to Janice and smiled. "Great idea, I think they have some rope in here."

After ending the call, he pocketed his pokedex and opened the Striker, finding enough rope to keep the Rockets bound, and freed the pokemon they were transporting. John calculated how many Unown Pokemon he had gotten so far, and he quickly came up to four, leaving twenty-two left to find. He watched Janice put on the disguise and get into the driver's seat of the Striker, everyone else packing up into the 'cargo' hold, using sprays to make sure their pokemon were in great shape.

Ash looked at John as he gave the ok to drive to Pewter, seeing a little bit of himself. As John relaxed on the bumpy trip, he hoped that the plan would work, and root out Rocket's hold on Pewter. The old trainer viewed this new one already a Freedom Fighter, since they were going to free, not only all of Pewter City, but also his old partner and long time friend. He muttered softly under his breath, "We're coming Pikachu, just hold on."
