Monster I Have Become

Chapter 2

**Here is Chapter 2!! We meet a few new characters in Ryun's 'present school' Rukan will be speaking with '*' again.**

*Hey, Ryun, forget that for a second. Some smug asshole is coming over here.* I shake my head to get rid of the memories and look up to see an Arcanine walking over towards me. *He wants to battle, Ryun.* 'Honestly, Rukan, if it weren't for the fact that I could see it in his eyes, I wouldn't have listened to you.' *Fair enough. At least you know it.*

"Hey, Umbreon!" The Arcanine called out to me while stopping a couple feet from me. I got up from my position and sat down directly in front of the Arcanine. "What do you want, Flame?" I asked him with as much of an "I don't care what you want" tone of voice as I could muster. Sure he was big, but he doesn't bully 'mon because they are small. Then again, he doesn't bully anyone at all.

"How do you know my name?" He asked me with the amount of surprise evident on his face and in his eyes. Those things went wider than they already are! I lightly laughed inside my head. "I know it because I have ears. Just because I sit by myself doesn't mean I can't hear everything around me." I said to him calmly.

"Good point. Anyway, I wanted to ask you for a battle. I heard around the forest that you were pretty good in a fight. I just want to test that out." He said back to me with calmness in his voice but with an edge of excitement to it. "Sure, but don't you think it is kind of unfair since you are the strongest-" 'supposedly' "'mon in the forest." I said back to him.

"Heh, you heard that about me? Well, no reason to stop a rumor like that." He said with pride. "But I have heard quite a bit about you too. It is just a friendly battle. If it makes you feel any better, we don't have to use any special moves, just physical contact." He said back to me. 'Yeah, like I am some little weakling. I would have said yes either way but this works too. At least nobody is going to get seriously hurt.' *AWWWW! Why not?! That would be awesome!!*

'Rukan, for the last time, shut up.' *Fine.* He said with mock defeat.

"Alright, let's do it." I told Flame. "Alright!" He said, the excitement obvious now. He turned around to gain some distance before the actual fight started. "Oh, by the way, what is your name?" He had stopped walking away from me to look at me expectantly. "Ryun." I told him, standing up and getting into a battle stance at the same time.

"Nice name." He turned around and got to the end of the clearing we were in. He got into a battle stance as soon as he turned around. I heard rustling and quickly looked to my right. In the shadows of the trees on the edge of the clearing I could see a few bodies and pairs of eyes looking back at me.

"Looks like we have some spectators." I said to Flame. "Looks like it. What? Are you afraid you are going to lose?" He said back to me playfully. "No, but you might." I answered back. "Well, a little cocky are we?" He said back trying to deter me from being cocky. "No, just thinking about what could happen. It's what I do." I said back.

He jumped at me with a crunch attack right after I said that. No anger came from him, but he was probably just as eager as I was. I quickly ducked and rolled to my left. I pounced forward to avoid the slash he sent after my roll. I turned around and pounced onto his back. "Hit, hit, hit, hit." I said as I fake hit him with multiple slashes across his back. He bucked me off but I landed on my feet. He turned back to me with a quizzical look on his face.

"Why didn't you hit me?" He asked me quizzically. "Don't want us to get severely hurt in the beginning of the year." I answered back simply. "Oh. Ok, no actual physical contact then." He said, a slight hint of disappointment in his voice.

We lunged at each other again. Flame had a slash on his right paw. As we got close enough for him to swing his paw at me, I jumped into the air, somersaulting and making myself into a ball to be a smaller target in case he tried to hit me.

When I landed, I turned around to get a headbut full on in the face. I was forced backward and onto my side. I slid through the grass a little bit before I slowed down. My slide ended at the tree in the middle of the clearing. I shakily got back up.

"Nice hit, huff, Flame." I tried to get my breath back before he decided to get back on the offensive. I took a battle stance again. He charged at me with another headbut. This time I had a way to reverse his attack.

To Flame, it would look like I was just standing there waiting for him to hit me. In fact, I was just standing there. But I was also bunching my back legs to jump out of the way when he got close. When he got to a foot in front of me, I jumped to my left. As I jumped, he sailed over where I was before but didn't notice because his head was down and his eyes closed bracing for the expected impact with soft fur.

Unfortunately, for Flame, he never hit soft fur. His head met the hard trunk of the tree with a loud smack. I heard several "Ouch!" from the shadows of the trees. But he got right back up, albeit a little shakily but he got back up. We charged at each other with slashes charging on our paws. When we got close enough we both swung.

Everybody in the trees must have looked away because I didn't hear anything afterwards. My suspicions were proven correct when I heard "Did they hit each other?" from the trees. If they were looking when me and Flame swung with our slashes they would have seen us stop right before hitting each other. If they looked up now, they would see me and Flame holding a fading slash to each other's cheek.

We set down our paws as random 'mon came bursting out of the trees. "Wow, Flame, that was AMAZING!" One of them yelled out as he ran towards Flame. "Thanks. Just did my best." He answered back calmly while still staring at me. "Hey, Ryun! Nice job." He said to me with a grin before walking off with his fan club in tow.

"Thanks." I said to his fading shadow on the clearing floor. 'Guess I have a friend. Wow, my first friend since the incident. Never thought I would get a friend after that.' *I would say I have been your friend, but I hate you so...* 'Rukan, I really don't need you stating the obvious.'

I walked away from the clearing to head back to the teacher. I still have Mr. Teach, but he doesn't seem like he used to be. Well, at least not towards me.

************************************************

**Not much would have happened in the class so I didn't write it. Ryun is back home.**

'Man that was a boring lesson. He just would not stop talking! About berries, too!' *I thought it was quite useful.* 'WHAT!?' I heard loud laughter and then Rukan spoke to me when it died down. *I was just messing with you. Calm down.*

I just shook my head and continued with my journey home. I don't live with my mother anymore. *Because she hates you.* 'No she doesn't!' She actually took it very well. But I moved out because I felt too old to be in the same home as my mother after I evolved. She understood why I did it.

Now I live in a tree. Literally. I climbed up a tree once, and found a good sized hole in the trunk about halfway up. So that is where I live. Or at least sleep. My food is either berries or fish from the river. I live farther away from where my class meets up, but I don't really care about that school. I mainly sleep. My real class starts at night. And I couldn't ask for a better teacher.

"Hey, Ryun! I got something for you!" I heard a familiar voice ring in my ears. I was lying in the hole in the tree when I heard it.

I poked my head out to see the familiar shape of an Absol at the bottom of my tree. 'Speaking of awesome teachers.' "Blades! How are you doing? And what do you have for me?" I asked excitedly. He does that to me. Plus, who doesn't like presents or surprises?

"Well then got off that lazy butt, stop the questions, and come down here to find out!" He answered back. 'Typical. Always wants me moving about.'

"Alright, I'm coming down." I said back, albeit with a little disappointment. 'I am tired, but just a little bit.'

When I jumped down, Blades was instantly in front of me and talking. "So, Ryun, I know you have wanted to do a practice battle for awhile-" "Not really." I said, trying to cut in, but he kept on going. "so I finally am able to do that for you." He finished. "Blades, I'm not going to fight you again, we already know who will win." I said with a matter-of-fact tone in my voice.

"But I won't be the one fighting you. She will." As he got to the end, he stepped to his left. This motion caused him to reveal a Liepard that was patiently waiting behind him. "Hi. My name is-" She started but I cut her off. "Shadow. The best female fighter in the forest." I said calmly. I was actually quite amazed. I knew she was a dark type, but how did Blades know her? She seemed extremely surprised that I knew who she was, so I was quick to explain.

"I hear quite a lot about you during classes. I'm not a stalker or anything like that. But-" I said, lowering my voice to a whisper at the end but making it loud enough that Blades could hear it too. "I would be careful with that one." I nodded towards Blades. "Caught him sneaking around way too much." I finished up, making sure that Blades heard it too. She giggled at the end. But Blades had a totally different reaction. "Hey! You said you never noticed me! I-I mean...um...not like that but...ugh, Ryun, you are so going to get it one day for this." At this me and Shadow started rolling in fits of laughter.

"Alright, you two, enough with the laughter, I came here for a reason, and I intend to see how you two do in a fight." He said, gaining a serious tone. Shadow, not knowing Blades as well as I do, apparently, stopped laughing instantly. My laughter, however, slowly died down. "Aww, come on, Blades. I was just messing with you." I said in a playful tone. "Yeah, yeah, just get on with it. I'm tired right now." He said back, the seriousness edging away to a bit of fatigue.

"Okay, ladies first." I said to Shadow who had already gained a battle stance. "No special attacks, you two, just physical, especially you, Ryun." Blades said to us but lowering his voice enough for only me to hear the end.

I visibly winced but shook it off quickly as Shadow came charging at me. I used a move very familiar to me in response to her charge. I stood there, waiting for her. When she came close enough to hit me with any physical attack I knew of, I jumped up, aiming to jump behind her and get the advantage. But she had planned on jumping and doing an aerial strike before I had jumped, so when I jumped, she jumped, and we collided in mid-air. We could both hear Blades' laughter but we kept up the battle. I was the first to recover so I charged at her with a takedown. I hit her square in the side, but made sure not to use it full force. She flew onto her side and slid for quite a bit, but got back up quickly. The recoil of my attack wasn't much but it had stopped me from advancing and caused me to wince in pain.

Shadow took this to her advantage and tackled me over so that I was on my back and she was on top of me. "Give up?" She asked me with a smirk. I struggled to topple her over but she just lay down over my body and suppressed my struggles with her weight. 'Not that she is fat.' I stopped trying to struggle and conceded defeat. "Alright, you win. But just know I was already tired because I battled earlier." I told her.

"Right." She said while rolling her eyes and getting off of me. We both sat up and stretched our legs a bit to get the soreness out of them. This is when Blades walked up wearing a wide, sadistic grin on his face.

"Blades, if you tell anyone this happened, so help me; I will do what those Mightyenas did to you." I said to Blades with a dead serious tone. He visibly winced, and I started to think I had overdone it, but he smiled again shortly after. "Oh please, what they did didn't even hurt." He said back to me trying to provoke me.

"Blades, one, you were passed out for three days and, two, you were groaning in pain the whole time I was with you." I told with a dead pan voice. "What!! You said I was out for a few hours!! So this whole time it has been three days ahead of what I thought it was?!" He yelled at me. I just started laughing uncontrollably. When I had calmed down enough to talk I explained to Blades.

"I was out of it the whole time, Blades. You know exactly why, too. I found out how long it had been when I went to tell my mother where I was." I told him. "Aww man. Oh well, doesn't change much anyway." He said dejectedly.

"Okay, it was pretty funny at first but why did you guys get all serious? What happened with a bunch of Mightyenas?" Shadow had been listening the whole time and was curious as to what happened to us that involved a bunch of Mightyenas. "It's a long story." I began to say but she quickly cut me off.

"I got time, it's night anyway." She said to me. I looked at Blades who just gave a shrug and nodded in an answer to my unspoken question. And so began the long task of telling her the story of that day. I tried to keep out the deaths of the Mightyenas and I thought I did a great job. When I was done, she didn't ask for what happened to them. But she did ask something.

"So you killed the Mightyenas?"

**What is Ryun going to do?!! Find out in about two days to a week. Maybe. Also, my offer for being a character in this story still stands. Just ask in the comments.**
