Out There

A brown furred wolf-bear or lupursyn stands on a wooden platform high above the floor of a temperate rainforest His hair is green as runs between his ears like a Mohawk with eyes to match which look out from a tattooed mask greenery on his face as he stands sentry on a cloudy evening with darkly majestic mountains standing behind him far, far away. Rain starts to fall heavily as the twin moons dart in and out of the cloud cover as the lupursyn draws the hood of his heavy leather cloak above his head which also happens to be green.

Over his heart another tattoo, this one depicting the tree of life in Celtic knot work so that the branches connect to the roots in an endless circle, glows softly of welcoming green as its power sustains him throughout the night. The cloak is the only clothing for his torso as full sleeve tattoos of green thorny vines cover his arms with bloody red roses on the backs of his palms. He leans on a staff of stout oak that features bands of steel on either end with a belt of many pouches including a quiver of arrows holds up a green leather kilt that covers his nether region but allows his wolf like tail to wag freely.

Green bracers in the shape of the Green Man of ancient myth and stonework on Earth grace his wrists with greaves of a similar nature appearing on his shins. But all this paints him as a wild warrior, a defender of the wilderness more than anything else as the lupursyn keeps watch. A yawn is stifled as there is very little to actually see here although a smile does creep up on his face as the beauty all around him in the sheer splendor of nature pleases him as lightning crashes down in random places in semi-close proximity to himself.

Flashes of scarlet filter down through the clouds that alarms the wolf-bear as the staff changes to a compound bow as the ranger reaches into his quiver to take out an arrow whose head starts to smolder as soon as it is drawn. A flying saucer with blinking red lights descends out of the clouds as the warrior tracks it visually. It bobs up and down as it slowly makes its way across the sky towards the ocean which is not visible in the horizon but the warrior knows where it is right enough as he has been there many times.

It travels along peacefully but the ranger arcs his line of fire and starts to take aim. When he releases his arrow it explodes in fireworks over the flying saucer like a flare or a warning to those lower in the canopy that there is something worth looking up at in their skies tonight. The flying saucer acts as if nothing has happened as it continues flying towards the ocean.
