The Dream That Turned Real - Resurrection

Part II -==-

Earlier...

Lycaon was doing a tail count, making sure everyone was present and accounted for. Ryan, who was asleep on the tables, awoke abruptly, fell off and faceplanted on the hardwood floor. He got up, rubbing his nose, and sat on the stool in front of the counter, leaning his broad back on the edge with a slight frown on his face, remembering the misdeed he had done...

-==-

Now...

'Still can't believe i killed Mike. I shoulda died with him.' Ryan thought as the wolf-god gave his lecture on the Canine underworld.

From what was understood, the place was similar to human Hell, but the difference was that it was calmer, but there were Demons, though. But they lived in a seemingly post-apocalyptic city that had been walled off by the population of furs that were still sane, but even they were outnumbered, trying to corral the Demons to make the Canine Underworld a bit more tolerable for the good side.

"The last time i was down there, was a century ago, when the wall was under construction. There were many sane furs living in the city, but the Demons were attracted to the city more than people living in it for some reason, so they rounded up what they could, but they were overrun."

"So, that means what for us? What are our chances of getting those two out of there?" Dee asked.

"I'd say slim to none, but since most of the place is under control, i'll say we have a sixty-fourty chance, assuming no-one screws up and gets caught." Lycaon replied.

"Is the fourty percent the bad chance one of us gets stuck down there also?"

"Something like that. Moving on, who among you are the strongest?"

Horscht, Exile, Bane, Ryan, Rokar and Dash all raised their hands.

"Now, Rokar, i understand that you cannot MindLink, yes?"

"Yeah, i was b- hatched without it."

"Y'know, even though you have limited powers, can't you just manifest some kind of inter-dimensional cell phone that has unlimited range that can be MindLinked to?" Ryan asked the dragon.

"Maybe i should go to Hell with you guys, 'cause i would never have thought of that."

"I'm afraid you'll have to stay here, Rokar. You're the only one besides me who can control magic, therefore, you'll keep the portal open from this side, while i open ours from down there, and connect it to the one here. If you are not able to maintain the connection, then i will have to use what's left of my energy to boost everyone through the vortex and get everyone back here."

Rokar looked nervous; Could Lycaon trust him long enough to do what he just explained?

"Oh, i'm not sure if i could; I don't know if i can."

"You can, just summon whatever you got and... Take charge of the situation. Should be easy enough, right?" Hunter said.

"You don't know the half of it." Lycaon told him.

As they continued, Ryan excused himself, wanting some time alone for the moment. He walked outside and leaned against the wall next to the door, Dee's usual spot when he's on duty.

He crouched, and held his head in his hands, crying again, dampening the ground under him with his tears.

Kraig came outside awhile later, finding Ryan.

"Ry? You okay?" the fox asked.

"No, i'm not fucking okay. This is the worst thing i've ever done, ever! I found a mate, then i lost him, all because of me!"

"Aw, Ry, don't be so hard on yourself. Mike wanted to be with you, because he loved you. He knew the dangers, and, well, he just got too close to the edge and fell into the volcano."

"And what about you? You killed your mate!"

"That was an accident."

"Yeah, but still...."

"I suppose Exile's partly to blame, he blew up your house, and i had him freeze Dan..."

"But Dan lit my place up, he struck the match."

Exile was next to come outside.

"Comerades, i saw you two leave bar. Exerything okey-dokie?"

"No." Ryan and Kraig said at the same time, before the husky went back inside.

"Wanna head back inside? I think Lycaon has some other strategies for us."

"Yeah, whatever."

Back inside, they saw Lycaon projecting holograms of some of the monsters down there, talkng about how to deal with them.

"Perhaps Colleen should help us out on this one, she's got the fighting skills out of most of us." Muzzle said.

"And that concludes the demonstration. Now, weapons and vehicles, what do we have?"

Ryan raised his hand.

"Yes, Ryan."

Ryan then looked sheepish all of a sudden. He lowered his hand and sat down.

"If you have nothing to say, Ryan, hold your tongue until we're done. Anyone else?"

'If Mike were here, he'd know what to do.' Ryan thought.

'Dude, if he was here, we wouldn't be doing this right now.' Dee linked with him.

'Fuck off, camel.'

"If anyone would like to volunteer their vehicles for this mission, we will be covering infinite amounts of land, and we'll need-"

"I got enough rides for all of us." Ryan said, finally growing enough balls to speak. "Dan had a couple of bikes, and i'm sure WolfWerks can tune everyone up for speed."

"I got my 'Busa, it'll go three hundred, without the nitrous." Jord said.

"Are you sure you have enough for everyone, Ryan?" Lycaon asked.

"Yes."

Ryan went through the list of bikes he owned, assigning them to one fur or the other. "And Dee gets to continue using my trike. I'll be using my Kawasaki, to match Jord."

'Set'em up now, knock'em down later.' Dee thought.

"This is a pretty large pack we're dealin' with, so we will use our Mach Three Performance products to get everyone's rides upgraded for the speeds we'll need. If we ever get chased by a supersonic hellstorm down there, we'll outrun it like it was standin' still!" Zeke announced.

"Very good. Excellent. For weapons, what do we have?"

All the Werewolves bared thier fangs and showed thier claws, about an inch long, in menacing poses.

"Okay, we're going old-school here... Rovers, did you bring weapons?"

"No, we only came over 'cause Ryan invited us. Blitz has what they got, so that counts. Muzzle's a one-man-band of a weapon, so he's good." Hunter said.

"I'm afraid i am useless to be on mission, i have no weapons to speak of." Exile said. "I have no heat beams."

"But, you have your ice beams."

"What is point of using them in thousand-degree environment?"

"Ah, don't worry about it, Exile. Human Hell's the hot one. The one we're going to is probably cooler than that. Right?"

"I did not mention it, but thank you for the reminder, as the Canine Underworld has three variable temperature zones, depending on where you are."

"Okay, so we're on a mission! I'll go get my bikes ready for transport to Zeke's place, and Kraig can do the same for Dan's bikes..."

"Yeah. I think Ryan's trying to say that we're taking too long discussing the plans." Dee said.

"Very well. Everyone get ready, we leave two days from now. Meeting adjourned."

:::

:::

Ryan was at his house, in his garage, modeled to look like a tree stump, and looked through his bikes.

'Kay, i got these ones, that one over there's too slow... If i had to pick, and i do, which one to use, i would take this one..'

He rolled the ride of his choice out of the garage: the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-RR.

'Okay, i figure Jord and I will be the fastest ones outta the gate, Lycaon'll be second, so i'll give him... hmm.'

He had told the wolf-god he had enough rides for everybody, yet he had enough for five people, and himself. He knew Dan had the Valkyrie and the Eliminator, so that made eight rides altogether.

Ryan then pulled a phone from his pocket and called Kraig. In four rings he picked up.

"Hey, Ryan. How's your inventory going?"

"I only got six rides. Dan's got the two, that makes eight. Think that's enough?"

"One moment..."

Ryan could hear the fox talking to someone in the background.

"... Okay, uh, The Rovers told me they have their own rides that are on thier way to WolfWerks, and that Colleen's going to join us for the mission."

"Are you sure? One female in the midst of a sausagefest does not sound good. I don't like that idea-"

"Just give it a chance, okay? You'll be fighting for Mike, i'll be fighting for Dan, and Colleen will give the Rovers a morale boost, something worth fighting for, especially Blitz. Besides, Hunter told me she's got some real good unarmed fighting skills to boot."

"All right. I suppose one chick wouldn't hurt to have on the mission."

"I knew you'd understand, Ryan. The Werks crew just came over to collect Dan's bikes, they'll be over at your place to pick up yours."

"Okay. Oh! What about Shag? He isn't going, is he?"

"No, they said he's gonna stay with Shepard."

"Good. We don't need any pups wetting themselves down there."

Kraig giggled. "Okay, TTFN, Ry."

"Yeah, you too, Kraig."

Ryan hung up and returned the phone to his pocket just as the Crew rolled up in a big-rig that looked like it came out of one of Stephen King's movies, Maximum Overdrive. It was the main villan-truck, but without the goblin facade on the front.

Ryan turned around just in time to make contact with the grille of the oversized machine, as he felt the giant fan inside stick him to the grille.

The massive engine stopped, before the horns sounded, blasting him to his butt in a second. Ryan flashed into his feral form and attacked the beastly truck, slicing through the radiator, as hot coolant splashed all over him, making him fall on his back again, writhing before passing out from the pain overload.

Zeke and Bane got out to inspect the truck, and found Ryan laying in a puddle of scalding coolant. Looking at the truck, they saw a giant hole in the radiator.

"Told you not to do that. You listen? No." Bane said as they helped thier fellow werewolf up, and carried him to the showers to hose him down.

"We're goin where?" Colleen said after she arrived at the Inne with the Street Rover. Blitz couldn't stop staring at her with the look he always has whenever she's around.

"Well, it's kinda hard to explain, but the short of it is, we're going to another dimension to pick up someone."

Hunter explained to her what they were getting themselves into, as Lycaon filled in the rest.

"Oh, poor bloke. Must be wicked scary for him down there."

"From what we've heard, it probably is."

"We decided to let you come with us because you have the best unarmed fighting skills, that are very unique to you."

"Aw, you're a doll, Lycaon, anything to help."

"You're very welcome, Colleen."

"Hay, are you hitting on him? I want you to be hitting on me instead." Blitz said.

"Okay." the collie said before kicking the doberman hard in the gut, sending him into a few tables behind him. "Oops, sorry, Bingo, you okay?"

"Oh, my GAWD!" Blitz raged. "You are the dumbest one of all, you keep forgetting my name on purpose, and you push me away when i want to be close to you, because i used to love you! Now i hate females more than ever, which makes me proud that i like Hunter and Exile more than you, you stupid, ugly bitch of a dog!!!"

Colleen burst out into tears, running outside and into the Street rover and peeled out, going back to RRHQ.

Blitz was so mad, he got so hot his veins bulged out of his now huge muscles, and he was literally steaming, like, you could cook a t-bone on his head, it would be done in twenty-seven seconds, tops.

Every muscle in his neck was so tense, they were solid. He looked... Transformed, from a wimp of a dog to seven-hundred pounds of red-hot insanity ready to go off like a nuke. Nobody said anything or moved, fearing the slightest twitch would set the enraged doberman off.

"Wat're you looking at? Huh? You gonna do something, or you gonna just stare at me? Why don't you all look at Ryan's ugly mug instead of mine, since you're so intent on looking at stuff? LOOK AT HIM!"

Now Ryan was pissed off. He changed into close to a thousand pounds of pure Feral Werewolf, and pounced on the doberman, as a giant fight broke out between them. Lycaon was still unmoving, just spectating over the action, hands on his hips, as everyone else bolted. That is, except for Kraig. He stood opposite of Lycaon, on the other side of the fight.

"Lycaon, cover your ears!" he shouted. The wolf-god manifested a pair of form-fitting earmuffs, as Kraig took a deep breath, and blew his whistle so hard, anything and anyone could hear it. It was now broken, but at the same time, the blast was more powerful, as the reed inside it was shredded apart, flying out of the whistle.

The whistle was so loud now, Kraig was shattering glass with it's high pitch, all the windows, cups, plates and such shattered from the sonic impact, as well as every single lightbulb in the place, raining glass on everyone.

Kraig was vibrating so fast as he blew the whistle, to him it looked like time stopped dead in it's tracks. From Lycaon's point of view, it looked as though the fox was a ghost, as he faded away.

The fight stopped dead, as well, as both Rover and Lycan fell to the ground in a tangled heap, unconcious from the whistle's supersonic cry. Lycaon might as well have had a heart attack from it, but since he was God, technically he couldn't have one because of his immortality.

Instead, he fell to a crouching stance, clutching his chest like he was having one.

As soon as Kraig let the last of his air out of his lungs, he became visible again, fur frazzled, eyes twitching, and fell to his knees, dropping the whistle, which had melted during use, the air was racing through it at an incredible rate, there was friction between air and whistle, until it looked like a blowtorch.

"Kraig! Are you all right?" Lycaon asked. The fox was dazed from his lungs trying to collapse. Lycaon tried to touch him, getting a giant electric shock in return, as it arced from two feet between them.

"Agh! Ugh..." he groaned, recovering from the surprise, as Kraig also recovered from the ordeal. He shook himself like crazy for a few seconds before stopping to look at Lycaon.

"Uhh- brbrbrbrbrb. Wow, that was INTENSE!" the fox exclaimed.

"Ah, um, yes, an electrifying experience. How are you able to do that?" Lycaon asked, rubbing his hand that got zapped.

"I don- Oh, no, my whistle!" Kraig said, picking up the now useless object. Lycaon took it to inspect it.

"Again, i have not a clue as to how you were able to do that for that long, but i am very impressed that you actually have the power to do it."

"I.. can't believe i did that, too. I guess everyone has a hidden power.. Somewhere."

They both stared at the literally physically blown dog whistle.

"I can fix it if you want, Kraig."

"Can you?"

"Yes."

Lycaon clenched his hand that held the whistle, and in a few seconds, re-opened it, revealing a brand new whistle.

Kraig hugged Lycaon tightly, repeating 'Thank you!' for a solid ten seconds.

"Yes, yes, you're welcome, young kit. Now, if you could release me, i can kick-start these two."

"You can do that?"

"Well, magic is only temporary. I'm only going to defibrilate them."

Lycaon moved to Ryan first, placing his hand over the other Lycan's heart, glowing as he brought Ryan back first, then Blitz.

After he moved back, in a few seconds, Blitz jumped back to life, as he gasped, panting. Ryan never moved a single muscle.

"Uh-ohh. Lycaon, he's not moving..."

The fox cringed as he thought that he had just killed the werewolf who sent his mate to Hell, and now Ryan was going to join Mike down there.

"Perhaps another try."

Lycaon then put both hands on Ryan's chest, and pumped him with more than enough energy to kill someone. Still Ryan lay there, not moving, dead still.

Dead.

"Oh, no! No, this isn't happening! It can't be!"

Kraig started a bipolar switcharoo, as he went from freaking out, to crying his eyes out, then cursing at the whistle before tossing it away from him, crouching.

Blitz was completely silent, and walked out of the bar as Rokar came to check out the situation. Lycaon picked up the whistle, and pocketed it. He went over to the fox and crouched next to him, trying to comfort him.

"There, there, it's not your fault. Please, cease your crying, we will work through it."

Kraig sniffled. "Now i know how he felt when he killed Mike. First Dan, now Ryan."

"An unfortunate turn of events, i'm afraid. As Hunter would have said, another unexpected twist."

"Now we hafta tell everyone that we gotta go after three guys now. That, or call it off and just you, me and Dean go."

"You might have a point, the fewer people we have with us, the less casualties we'd have if we were to have any."

Lycaon then linked up with everyone he had explained the mission to, and canceled the search and rescue. They were still in need of rides, so he told Bane he was still in, and to get those bikes done double-time. Rokar was still in, but it was by the dragon's own choice, he wanted to get on the wolf-god's good side, and manifested the cell phone Ryan was talking of earlier. It could be MindLinked to, even from other dimensions or realms. It needed no batteries, allowing it to be used twenty-four seven, and never run out of juice.

...And it was everything-proof.

Lycaon looked at it; a work of art, he commented. Absolutely flawless.

Rokar pocketed the phone and asked the wolf as to where he would have to be when the portal on this side had to be kept open.

"We'll be travelling at an asteroid's speed, so we'll need something longer than a landing strip." Lycaon said.

"I know the perfect place!" Kraig said. "The speedway that goes past here, it's long and straight, and goes on for at least a thousand miles or more, and we're right in the middle. Rokar, you can head south following the road; when we exit, we'll be going northbound, towards the bar."

"That's a really good idea, Kraig. But... I'm not sure if you can make it using a motorcycle. Chances are, even with those upgrades, if you're going faster than a Ducati, or a Bugatti Veyron, sorry to be a downer here, but you'll have to stick the front tire with atomic accuracy. With a car, you have more stability to spare."

"Apologies to putting a downer on your downer, Rokar, but the bikes will be lighter and more agile, something even a Porsche could not top." Lycaon countered.

"Okay, you win. Oh, and you can't be the only ones on bikes."

"That's why Bane is still going with us, he will be in charge of that. Ezekiel will bring the bikes here via cargo van; Bane will deliver Mike's car here as well."

Lycaon then explained how it would all go down: He makes the portal to the Canine Underworld, Rokar uses his magic to keep the portal open, and once they got the three out, he would call Rokar and tell him to ready the portal, and they get out, riding to the Inne for refreshments, and celebration for a sucessful mission.

Horscht, being a former trucker, would bring the bikes in the TranSahara Turbo GT, as Zeke called it, while Bane drove Mike's Leone down there. They both knew the dangers, so they were prepared. Especially if they found Mike, and he saw they were using his vehicle without his consent.
