Chapter Nine - Late Night Party Animals

Sil'ferr

Dixon had been outside for a long time when Vivian decided to go and see what was up, I just hoped it wasn't me that had upset him somehow that was the last thing I wanted. Vivian came back with Dixon, he looked a little disturbed, and something was definitely on his mind... I want him to tell me, but I wouldn't blame him if he didn't.

"You alright Dixon?" I asked,

"Yeah, I think I fell asleep or something out there... you must've danced me all out." Dixon grinned,

"Yeah I'm sure that's what happened." Vivian said walking off,

"Are you sure your alright? You do look a little off." I said,

"Maybe a little... I'll tell you later maybe, but now there's a party going on and we're missing it." Dixon said.

The party lasted for another couple of hours and then everyone started collapsing on the sofa and chairs, it seemed everyone was partied out, not a moment too soon, I don't think I could've gone any longer either.

"Anyone up for just watching movies now?" Jennifer said.

Everyone just nodded and agreed, there was a lot of us and not that much space on the sofa so I ended up snuggling up close to Dixon while we watched the movies, it was great being so close to him for so long but I could feel myself dropping off, he wrapped his arm around me and I rested my head on his chest.

"It's so obvious that guys a baddie." Sara said,

"Yeah, he's got a sinister tash." Jennifer giggled,

"His assistant doesn't look bad though." Irvine said,

"Trust you Irvy." Jennifer said,

"She's not the only thing that doesn't look bad, check that out." Foxx said.

He pointed towards Dixon and me who were sleeping peacefully in each others arms, I guess that meant the game was up for us.

"Isn't that sweet." Jennifer said,

"Well whaddaya know the little guy likes someone after all." Irvine said,

"Leave them alone guys." Foxx said,

"No stamina either of them." Vivian giggled,

"How long were they going to try and hide this from us?" Jennifer said,

"As long as they could... we do tend to go all 'interrogation' when this happens." Vivian said,

"I guess you're right... hey look they just planted the bomb." Rico said,

"Told you he was a bad guy." Sara said.

I opened my eyes sleepily, only a half hour had passed since I dropped off the rest of them were still watching the movie. I looked up and Dixon was sleeping, looks like he couldn't stay awake either so I decided to catch the rest of the movie and at least find out what they were watching, I guessed it was a guys choice of movie since there was a lot of explosions and shooting people. Dixon blinked and woke up when a loud explosion echoed through the room.

"I wasn't sleeping was I?" He said,

"No big deal if you were, as long as you don't move... you're a very comfy pillow." I said,

"I know... here." He said.

He wrapped his tail around me as well, I knew I wasn't going to be uncomfortable sleeping on the couch now and Dixon didn't seem to mind me resting on him at all. I began to nod off again.

"Isn't that the cutest thing you ever saw?" Sara said looking over,

"He's like a big teddy." Vivian said,

"I guess I am... just don't give us the third degree okay... there's not much to say anyway." Dixon said,

"We weren't going to say anything... I think it's really sweet." Jennifer said,

"I just thought... we can't watch any of the chick flicks... we'll put thoughts in their heads." Sara said,

"Shame... I was looking forward to those." Jennifer said,

"Thank God for that." Rico joked,

"Lets just get some sleep... it's too late to watch something else now." Jennifer said,

"Yeah... sleep sounds good." Foxx yawned,

"You better behave Dixon." Irvine joked,

"Hey Irvy, I don't have a dirty mind like you." Dixon said,

"Just saying it how it is dude." Irvine said,

"I just don't like the accusation... I have very good self control." Dixon said,

"Just leave it at that guys." Vivian said.

Jennifer showed everyone where they could stay, although she did leave me and Dixon on the couch and Vivian slumped herself down on the other couch. Everyone looked tired and it wasn't long before the whole house was quiet again.

I kept wondering about what had made Dixon disappear for so long, I felt as if I had offended him and I had to get to the bottom of it.

"Dixon... are you awake?" I said quietly trying not to wake Vivian up,

"Huh... yeah I am." He said drowsily,

"Did I wake you... sorry." I said,

"No worries... can't you sleep?" He asked,

"Not really... I have this nagging thought about earlier when you went off... I didn't say anything did I?" I said,

"It's nothing really... trust me... it's just I didn't have a very happy childhood." He said,

"I'm sorry." I said,

"Don't be... since I was very little my mum and dad have worked at OmegaTech and never really spent much time with me... even though I had Vivian as a friend for so long I still wish my dad and me could've done stuff together... like normal dad's." He said,

"It must've been tough growing up without your dad around." I said,

"Yeah well I live with it, I just take things lightly and nothing gets me down anymore... well almost anything..." He said,

"That's one thing I like about you Dixon... your always so calm." I said,

"Sil'ferr... can you keep a secret?" He said,

"Sure... what's up?" I asked curiously,

"That first time you saw me in the park was no coincidence... I was told that you'd be there by this strange guy." He said,

"Strange guy..." I said,

"And I saw him again today while I was outside... he started telling me about me being special in a way and left leaving me with this and a quotation." He said.

He pulled something out of his pocket and showed it to me, it was beautiful... a small grey jewel in a diamond shape.

"What is it?" I asked,

"I shouldn't know... but I feel that I do... although I don't know what it's called." He said,

"It's beautiful." I said,

"I feel it has some purpose... why else would he give it to me? Fulfil the prophecy with Fire, Wind, Water and Earth." He said,

"What prophecy?" I wondered,

"I don't know... I don't know any prophecies." He said,

"Maybe he's right... maybe you are special." I said,

"I doubt it... I'm just your everyday Joe Average." He said,

"I don't think so..." I said resting my head on him again,

"He told me I had to believe... I just don't understand what he means." He said,

"You will... you always find an answer to anything." I said drifting off,

"I just wonder what it is." He said as he closed his eyes.

Chapter Ten - Feeling Gray

Dixon

Meeting that strange guy again is really starting to get me worried... worried that he may be a furry hater leading me into a trap, him being a total whack job and possibly dangerous... or even worse... him telling the truth and he knows something I don't. Best not to think about it for now... maybe he is just a whack job and I should just ignore it and it'll go away... but if he was a whack job then why did he give me this gift? This is one of those things I'll never find the answer to... anyway it was the last day of the weekend and I'd miss it if I thought about this anymore. I could see the sun peeking through the gap in the curtains, I tried to adjust my eyes to the light but it was blinding. A few minutes later I could see clearly, Vivian was almost falling off the sofa as she slept and Sil'ferr was clutching onto my tail as she still lay sleeping. I didn't have the heart to wake her so I just sat back and looked at the jewel in my hand.

"I wonder what this is for? It has to have some purpose... but what? Why did he leave without giving me a better explanation?" I said to myself.

I placed the jewel around my neck as Sil'ferr stirred at my talking and then sleepily looked up at me.

"Hey there." She said,

"Morning, how did you sleep?" I asked,

"Like this." She said as she slumped back down,

"Funny." I smiled,

"I slept quite well, how could I not?" She said,

"How do you mean?" I asked,

"I was with you... you're very comfy." She said,

"Thanks... I know that I can always apply for a job as a pillow now." I joked,

"I'm serious... the best nights sleep I've had in a while... I hope we get to do it again soon." She said leaning over to me.

As she leaned over Vivian woke up.

"Come on enough is enough you two." Vivian said,

"We hadn't even..." Sil'ferr said,

"Yeah, yeah... innocent until proven guilty." Vivian said,

"Don't mind her... she's just over protective." I said,

"I'll say." Vivian said,

"Don't worry... we behaved." Sil'ferr said,

"Well... I'll let you off then, now if you don't mind I'm going to freshen up... sleeping on a sofa isn't good for you." Vivian said getting up,

"It was alright for me." Sil'ferr said as Vivian left,

"Was alright for me too." I said.

She leaned over to me again as Jennifer came into the room.

"Dammit..." Sil'ferr said,

"Sorry was I interrupting anything?" Jennifer asked,

"Not at all. Is everyone else up yet?" I said,

"Not really... Vivian woke me while she was in the bathroom... I need sugar." Jennifer said heading towards the kitchen,

"Now where were we?" Sil'ferr said,

"I believe we were here." I said.

I leaned towards her as Foxx walked into the room.

"Oh come on!" I said,

"Is this a bad time?" Foxx asked,

"Not at all." Sil'ferr said,

"Okay." Foxx said as he headed towards the kitchen,

"Shall we wait for anyone else?" Sil'ferr asked,

"I think it's something they all cooked up... so lets sneak out the back." I said.

We both got up and crept towards the back door, we saw Foxx and Jennifer in the kitchen luckily they had their backs towards us so we got past and went outside into the back garden.

"Now we're finally alone." Sil'ferr said,

"Yeah, do you want to take a walk?" I asked,

"Sure." Sil'ferr said.

_We walked up to the park where we saw a kid sat alone on the slide, I decided to see what he was doing there. _

"Hello... are you alright?" I shouted out.

He didn't turn round or answer he just carried on crying.

"Hey kid... what's up?" I yelled.

Suddenly Sil'ferr screamed from behind me, I spun round to see the bullies from South Side High and they had her, this didn't look like it was going to be a pleasant meeting.

"Well if it isn't the hero again... we were expecting our little trap to lure someone out, but we didn't expect to get you." The big one said,

"You just let her go!" I cried,

"You're in no position to make demands little Fox boy... as you can see we're in charge here." The shrimpy one said,

"That's right... if you haven't noticed you're outnumbered five to one..." The big one said,

"I may be outnumbered but you're all slow." I said,

"We'll see about that." The big one said.

He nodded to someone stood behind me, I turned round as one of them hit me around the face with wooden bat. I hit the ground unable to focus my vision, the pain was unbearable.

"DIXON!" Sil'ferr cried,

"Aww... is you're boyfriend hurt... boohoo." The big one laughed.

The guy swung the bat at me again and it hit me hard on my back as I tried to get up, I could barely move... I felt like passing out, but I couldn't not while Sil'ferr was in trouble.

"Shall I hit him again boss?" Bat boy asked,

"Give him a second to get up... then we can smack him again good and proper." The big one said.

I struggled to my feet, my body ached all over and my head was pounding... I could barely see but I could make out the big one enjoying every minute of my suffering.

"Leave him alone!" Sil'ferr pleaded,

"We'll leave him alone after we're finished with him." The big one said nodding at bat boy.

He placed the bat across my neck and started choking me.

"Although I want to leave him for dead that'll be murder and we don't go that far, just leave him half dead." The big one said,

"With pleasure boss." Bat boy grinned,

"You can't!" Sil'ferr cried.

Sil'ferr

I couldn't believe what was happening, Dixon was being beaten to within an inch of his life and I couldn't do anything to stop them. I watched as the boy with the bat dropped Dixon to the floor.

"Good enough for you boss? That should hospitalise him for a couple of months." Bat boy said,

"Good, good... now onto her." The big one said pointing at me,

"What are we gonna do to her boss?" The shrimpy one asked,

"First we'll have some fun and then we'll put her with her friend over there." The big one said.

I closed my eyes as they started walking towards me, then I heard a noise that made me look over. One of the gang lay face down on the floor and they were all looking over at Dixon who was stood up. But something didn't feel right.

"How the hell are you standing? You should be in a one way ticket to the emergency room condition!" Bat boy said,

"That's what you think!" Dixon said his voice sounding a little different,

"You really want more do you? Well we have enough to spare you some more." Bat boy said charging at him with his bat.

He swung his bat at Dixon's head but he blocked the blow with his hands and yanked the bat out of his hands and slammed it into the boys stomach and left him rolling on the floor.

"Dixon..." I said quietly,

"Well you got some fight in you... but I don't go down too easily." The big one said.

He ran towards Dixon and swung at him that he avoided and smashed the bat in the back of the guy's legs so hard the bat shattered on impact. The guy howled in pain and collapsed to the floor, Dixon looked over at the guy who was holding me... he let go immediately and backed away. The gang collected their 'wounded' and made a hasty retreat. I ran into Dixon's arms but he suddenly collapsed into mine.

"Dixon are you okay? DIXON! Wake up!" I cried.

I dropped to my knees and laid him on the grass, he looked in pretty bad shape... I didn't know how he was able to fight those guys in his condition. I heard Vivian and Jennifer shouting in the distance, they looked over and saw me and ran over to find out what was wrong.

"Dixon..." Vivian said kneeling next to him,

"What happened?" Jennifer asked,

"It was those bullies again... they snuck up on us and beat him up." I said,

"Where are they now?" Jennifer asked,

"He scared them off." I said,

"How?" Jennifer asked,

"He beat up the big guy and they all ran off." I said,

"Don't be stupid... Dixon has never had a fight in his life... there is no way he could beat up anyone!" Vivian said sounding upset,

"Well I watched him do it... although when I watched him I could feel something was different about him." I said,

"From the looks of him he looks like he's been out for a while, you must've imagined it." Jennifer said,

"I didn't imagine it... but he was different... like he wasn't himself anymore." I said,

"Well we better get him some help." Jennifer said,

"Yeah... who's gonna tell his Grandpa?" Vivian asked.

Chapter Eleven - Fantasy or Reality?

We managed to get Dixon back to Vivian's house, he didn't look too good and we were worried he might not pull through. We laid him down on the sofa as Vivian went to phone his grandpa.

"I can't believe it... it never got this bad before." Jennifer said,

"There was nothing I could do... I felt so helpless watching them." I said,

"It's not your fault... so don't blame yourself." Jennifer said.

Vivian came back in and placed the phone back in the cradle.

"Dixon's grandpa is on the way over... he didn't sound too happy either." Vivian said.

I looked at him lying there and felt a bit queasy, I didn't know how to explain what happened to his grandpa... but I would have to try. A few minutes later Dixon's grandpa arrived and I explained the story to him the best I could, he understood and said he knew something like this was going to happen someday and Dixon would pull through because he was strong. Vivian's parents were working late so Dixon's grandpa stayed with us that night, it was late in the night when we could barely stay awake and one by one began to fall asleep.

The moon was out high in the sky and the stars were twinkling away just like the night before. I was stood by the swing hoping that he would come along. As I stared into the sky and hand touched my shoulder.

"Hey Sil'ferr." He said,

"Dixon... you're okay." I smiled,

"Why wouldn't I be?" He said,

"What happened earlier... I'm so sorry." I said feeling like I wanted to cry,

"It's not your fault... it was my idea to take a walk... besides I think you might actually have helped me." He said

"Helped you? But they nearly killed you... how could that've helped you?" I asked feeling confused,

"I think I'm starting to believe in the ramblings of that strange guy... I felt a power take over, it was weird but not scary." He said,

"A power... take over?" I said,

"Like someone else was guiding me... there was no way I would've known how to fight like that." He said,

"I guess... you didn't sound like yourself either..." I said,

"Well I'm glad it's over now... those guys won't bother us again now that I've sent them a message." He said.

I wrapped my arms around him and looked into his eyes.

"You think so?" I asked,

"I do... everything's going to be alright now I promise." He said,

"I don't know how to thank you." I said,

"You could wake up." He said.

I blinked my eyes open, it was still dark outside and the moonlight was peeking through the curtains. The sofa cushion was damp from tears, I didn't even know that I had been crying.

"Was that a dream? Or did it really happen?" I said to myself,

"Well you haven't moved in a while." Dixon said.

My eyes widened and I got up quickly and looked behind me to see him sat there.

"I didn't have the heart to wake you... you were sleeping so peacefully." He said,

"You're okay." I said,

"Kinda... still a bit sore, but I'll pull through." He said.

I gave him a big hug.

"Don't scare me like that okay." I said,

"Okay... just tell me when you want me to be beaten up and I'll make a note in my schedule." He joked,

"I see being beaten up doesn't take away you're sense of humour." I said,

"Yeah... but did they hurt you? If they did I would never forgive myself." He said looking serious,

"No... you got rid of them." I said,

"Me? The last thing I can remember before waking up was being choked by that guy with the bat... then I passed out." He said,

"Well afterwards you got up again and beat them up and they ran away... then you collapsed again." I said,

"Weird... I don't remember that." He said,

"Well it happened... or did it?" I said,

"Well if it did that is weird... how can a lifeless body pummel someone?" He said,

"I don't know... but I bet there's a logical explanation for it." I said.

"Well enough about that... it's over now. What happened to Jen's party?" He asked,

"Well after we left nothing much else... they didn't have anything to talk about either... they were going to probe us for most of the day." I said,

"Lucky escape." He joked,

"Come on... how can you call being beaten up a lucky break?" I said,

"I'm totally fine... I don't know how... but it's as if it never happened." He said,

"You know... now you mention it... you don't look very hurt." I said,

"Anyway... not a bad finish for the first date huh?" He joked,

"Well if that's the first date... I can't wait for the second." I said,

"Why does a beautiful girl like you like a guy like me?" He asked,

"Because you're different... you're unlike anyone I've met before, plus you're cute too." I grinned,

"That has to be in there somewhere I guess." He smiled,

"And you're a good kisser too..." I said rather embarrassed,

"Okay that I was not expecting..." He said looking surprised,

"Well there's only one way to be sure." I said leaning over to kiss him.

At that moment Vivian walked into the room.

"Shall I give you a few more minutes?" She asked,

"One minute... that's all I ask..." He said to no one,

"I was just making sure he was alright." I said feeling silly,

"Yeah... right, nice to see you up and around again Dix." She said,

"Thanks Viv... but could you..." He said discretely pointing towards the door,

"Well... I have to... be somewhere else right now... bye." She said leaving the room,

"We're were we?" I asked,

"I believe we were in the middle of something." He said,

"So we were... do you leave things unfinished?" I said,

"Not if I can help it." He said,

"Me neither." I said,

"The night is still young... I suggest we split." He grinned,

"Won't your grandpa worry about you? I mean you are supposed to be hurt." I said,

"I'll explain when we get back... but now we have to get some peace and quiet." He said,

"Sounds like you have something planned?" I said looking innocent.

The look on his face was priceless... I really have to stop doing this to him, he might start thinking I have a dirty mind.

"Well... not really... I just thought we could go back." He said calming down,

"I was only kidding Dixon... I know you're not thinking of anything like that." I said,

"I wish you'd stop doing that..." He said,

"Your cute when you go all bashful like that though." I grinned,

"Nice to know that I can amuse everyone in my own little way." He smiled.

Chapter Twelve - Where it all Began

_Dixon and me had gone back the playground where we had first kissed, and just like that night the stars were out and the moon was bright, again it was a beautiful night. We sat on the grass in the same spot as before... at least this time we came prepared for the cold night air. _

"The sky really is beautiful tonight... again." I said,

"Reminds me of the first time." He said,

"One thing is different though..." I said,

"What's that?" He said looking at me,

"You can kiss me without the shooting star." I said,

"Oh yeah." He grinned, "I knew that."

"You never needed one really... I liked you from the moment I met you." I said rather bashfully,

"Until I met you... I never had these kind of feelings for anyone, you are really special Sil'ferr and I'm glad we met." He said similarly bashful,

"I hope nothing steps in to break us apart." I said,

"There's nothing that could break us apart... I believe we'll be together until death do us part." He said,

"Is that a proposal?" I joked,

"Maybe..." He said,

"Are you serious?" I asked,

"Maybe..." He smirked.

I hit him in the arm.

"Ouch." He cried still smirking a little,

"That was mean." I said,

"If you can do it... I can do it too." He said,

"Seriously... if we were old enough... would you ask?" I asked.

He held my hand.

"... I would." He said,

"You're serious this time..." I said,

"I'm not always joking around... I can be serious too... but only occasionally." He smiled,

"Really?" I said,

"Really." He said.

As we sat watching the stars in the sky he put his arm around me and I rested my head on his shoulder and closed my eyes, you dream of times like this and when they finally come you don't know how to act I was half expecting me to start mumbling things that didn't make sense, but I didn't. We sat there for a long time, we don't actually know how long we were there but why did we care... at that moment we didn't have a care in the world... until I ended up blurting something out.

"Dixon... if I weren't around... would you have gone with Vivian?" I asked,

"Huh? What made you say that?" He asked,

"I dunno... just a random thought I guess." I said,

"Maybe... but I only knew when she told me... and I think she wouldn't have told me if you weren't around... I guess she just wanted to let me know how she felt... maybe hoping that I felt the same way... who knows." He said,

"I'm glad we're together now... but how could you overlook someone like her?" I asked,

"I guess if you're friends with someone for so long you can't see them any other way." He said,

"Although she secretly liked you... and you had a crush on her." I said,

"He can't keep anything a secret..." He said,

"Huh?" I said,

"Grandpa I'm guessing." He said,

"No... Vivian told me." I said,

"Oh... maybe I was just denying it all the time... or maybe..." He started,

"What?" I said,

"Maybe I was scared..." He said,

"Scared? How could you be scared?" I asked,

"I've always had a fear that I'd never be good enough for anyone... I guess I've always been a screw-up." He said,

"You're good enough... everyone says you were a big hit with the girls at school, but you just never showed interest." I said,

"Maybe... but I know what high school girls are like... and I don't want to get into something like that... I wanted a relationship with heart." He said,

"Like us." I said,

"Yeah... you got my heart along with that shooting star." He smiled,

"You got mine when I first saw you." I said.

We both just sat there for a moment feeling silly talking like this... I have to admit... it was kinda mushy.

"Well... school again tomorrow... feels like forever since we were last there." He said,

"Yeah... long weekends are great... too bad it's over." I said,

"Well in that case I'm going to have to make it worthwhile." He said.

We started kissing as the stars twinkled away, you might want to look away now... no its not what you're thinking... it's just we've had enough people watching us for today thank you very much.
