Chapter One - First Day of School

The alarm clock buzzed noisily, she poked her head out from under her pillow and slammed her hand flat against the snooze button and grumbled under her breath, the first day of school in a new place and she wasn't in the least bit ready for it at all. She dragged herself out of bed and stared at herself in the mirror, she looked dreadful.

Sil'ferr

Hi, my name is Sil'ferr Aurora. My family moved here to Gigotropolis after my dad was offered a job at OmegaTech, it was a great opportunity that he couldn't miss out on. Anyway the first few days we spent here were okay, but last night was pretty rough for me and I hope I can make it through the rest of the day without any more hassle like that. Also I wonder if I'll ever see that guy again, I have to thank him for helping me out. Anyway first things first... I must get dressed and ready for school.

"Morning dear, how did you sleep?" Mum asked,

"Not very well..." I said,

"You look dreadful." Dad joked,

"Funny." I said slumping down at the table,

"I'm only kidding, you look fab." Dad said,

"Dad..." I said,

"What... I can tell my daughter she looks great." Dad said,

"Mum make him stop." I begged her,

"Stop it already." Mum giggled,

"Okay then, have a nice day at school dear. I got to go to work, I'll see you later tonight." Dad said as he got up to leave,

"Bye dad." I said.

He left and I collected my things together and headed out for school, the school wasn't far from where I lived so it was easy enough to find my way there, I just hoped that there were going to be nice people there.

As I arrived at the gates to the school I was in awe at the size of the building, it was huge, a lot bigger than I expected it to be. I began to walk down the pathway towards the entrance, a few people stared at me as I walked down but most waved at me and said hi, I was relieved to see no one was bothered about me. As I walked through the main gate I saw a huge tree that dominated the courtyard, it had a few benches underneath it where some students were doing some work or reading books. I was surprised when a hand grabbed my shoulder. I yelped in surprise and turned round to see a friendly face smiling at me.

"Hey there, you new here?" She asked politely,

"Yes, I am." I said trying to catch my breath back,

"Sorry to have snuck up on you like that, you want me to show you around?" She said,

"If its not a problem." I said,

"Hey no problem at all, in fact the last two people who were new here I showed round and their friends of mine now." She said,

"Really?" I asked,

"Yep, in fact why don't you come introduce yourself." She said leading me somewhere.

She led me over to an area near a large building towards the back of the school. I saw a group of people sat down on a bench and the railings.

"Hey Viv, who's that you got with you?" The girl asked,

"It's the new girl who's starting today, I thought we could show her round." Vivian said,

"Sure thing, its nice to meet you." One of the guys said,

"My names Sil'ferr, nice to meet you too." I said feeling nervous,

"How are you finding it here in the city?" The girl asked,

"Its okay, I had a run in with some bullies from another school yesterday." I said,

"I bet it was those from South side... they are always looking for trouble." The other guy said,

"Do you think it was the same guy that Rico started with a while ago?" Vivian said.

Rico, I remembered that name was mentioned last night by the bullies and it made me wonder if my new friends knew the guy who helped me out, but since I didn't know his name I decided to keep it to myself.

"Oh sorry we forgot to introduce ourselves, how rude of us... I'm Vivian." Vivian said,

"I'm Jennifer." Jennifer said,

"I'm Irvine." Irvine said.

The other one remained silent.

"Oh and he's Foxx, don't mind him he's not exactly a social master like me." Irvine said,

"Its nice to meet you all." I said,

"Oh and Rico and Dixon aren't here yet, I suppose they'll be late again." Vivian said,

"And in detention for the rest of the day." Foxx grinned.

The bell rang for the start school and we all headed inside and I was shown around to all my lessons, after school had finished we were all waiting by the tree for the other two who were in detention. We were sat talking about all kinds of things.

"And that's what I think anyway." Jennifer said,

"Well you are entitled to your own opinions." Vivian said,

"They're taking longer than usual." Irvine said,

"Yeah I wonder what's taking them?" Jennifer said.

We could hear voices coming from the open doors of the main building they sounded cheerful, as they emerged I could see one was human and the other was a grey fox, like the one I saw yesterday... he certainly did look like the one I saw yesterday, but then again it was dark... but I remember he had green eyes, it was his eye that had caught my attention.

"I say we try and avoid detention for a while, the threat sounded legit to me." The fox said,

"I say we go for the school record, we'll be remembered long after we have gone." The guy said,

"That sounds good and all, but I do want to smell fresh air after school finishes on time once and a while." The fox said.

They joined us and we all stood up ready to go.

"Hey guys who's this, a new friend?" The guy said,

"Yep, she's gonna hang with us now that's okay right?" Vivian said,

"Sure is, I'm Rico by the way." Rico said.

That meant the fox was called Dixon and I had a feeling this was the same guy I saw the other day, he looked at me with his bright green eyes and I could feel it was him.

"I'm Dixon... and I believe I've seen you already." Dixon said,

"You have?" Vivian said,

"I spotted those guys from South side chasing some girl and I decided to go check it out, but when they started getting a touch violent I decided to step in." Dixon said,

"So it was you, I'm sorry I didn't stick around." I said feeling a tad embarrassed,

"No problem, it was my pleasure to help... in fact I didn't stick around long either... I'm not exactly good at fighting." Dixon said,

"Saving girls is what Dixon does best." Irvine joked,

"A real knight in shining armour." Rico joined in,

"I think it was sweet of you to help." Jennifer said,

"That's my buddy." Vivian said,

"Shall we go... before Coach finds us and gives us laps?" Rico said,

"I don't know about you guys but I wouldn't mind that." Foxx said,

"Only because you're a good runner Foxx." Vivian said.

We started walking out of the school grounds talking all the way out. It was fun getting to know all of them a little better and it was nice to finally meet the guy who helped me out. Foxx, Irvine, Rico and Jennifer had split from us and headed a different way and it was just me, Vivian and Dixon walking down the street. The trees were swaying gently in the breeze as leaves were swept about and we were just talking about anything that came to mind. It seemed Dixon and Vivian had been friends since they were really little.

"Yep me and Dix have been friends since we could walk." Vivian said,

"Who was it you showed round and became friends with?" I asked,

"That was Rico and Jennifer, then we became friends with Foxx and Irvine... they used to tease everyone but I guess all they needed were some real friends and not fake ones." Vivian said.

I looked over at Dixon who seemed to miles away, I couldn't help but smile a bit as Vivian looked too and grinned.

"Earth to Dixon... anyone home?" Vivian said,

"Huh... what?" Dixon said snapping back to reality,

"You looked well out there Dix..." Vivian said,

"Sorry... I guess it's becoming a habit..." Dixon said nervously,

"Well as long as you don't drift away from us its okay." I said.

He gave a weak laugh and we carried on, I don't know whether he was just nervous around me or if there was another reason he was like this, I probably would never know. Anyway it was just nice having someone there... I thought it would be a lot longer before I made friends so I was grateful. Anyway as we carried on Dixon had finally spoken and was explaining why he and Rico are always in detention.

"Well the reason me and Rico are always in detention is that we feel we have a higher purpose in life... a goal that cannot be reached through the cramming of maths..." Dixon said,

"Yeah like scarfing down cheese pizza and playing video games..." Vivian blurted out.

I laughed as he rubbed the back of his head and smiled cheesily.

"I guess that's true..." Dixon said still rubbing the back of his head,

"You know I'm only kidding Dix." Vivian smiled,

"I do, I do... I guess I should do my homework now and again... I mean it would be nice to get out of school before closing time." Dixon said,

"I bet you can do it... you have the whole weekend to do at least one bit of your homework." I said,

"I am going to, in fact I'm going to start doing better, and I know I can but I guess I always wanted to be remembered for something." Dixon said,

"You'll always be in the thoughts of everyone if you work hard, no one thinks of you unless you make them, do well and that's a better way to do it." I said,

"Dixon shouldn't you be getting back, you're gramps is probably waiting." Vivian said,

"Oh yeah... gramps... sorry Sil'ferr I'll see you tomorrow. Later!" Dixon said as he began to run as fast as he could,

"Why's his Grandfather waiting for him?" I asked,

"He does loads of things with his Gramps since both his parents work long hours at OTi." Vivian said,

"Hey that's where my dad works now." I said,

"A lot of people from round here are employed by them, in fact nearly a quarter of the population work for them." Vivian said,

"I didn't know that. It must be tough on him?" I said,

"Not really, he understands and takes it lightly. He's a pretty mellow guy, in fact its very rare you see him even remotely angry... he's always calm... I don't know how he does it." Vivian said,

"Must be why you've been friends for so long I guess." I said,

"What do you mean?" Vivian asked,

"Well it's the coming together of opposites... you can't deny that you have a little bit of a hot streak and him being so chilled, two items in perfect harmony that work well together." I said,

"I never heard it put like that before." Vivian said,

"Have you two ever... been together?" I asked foolishly,

"Me and Dixon... nah... we've always been friends. We never thought of each other that way... it'd be weird." Vivian said,

"I guess it would." I said,

"Well this is my house, we all hang out on the weekends... so if you want to join us we'll come and get you in the morning." Vivian said,

"Sure, I'll see you tomorrow then." I said.

She went inside and I carried on down the path a while and finally made it to my house, the trip home had seemed longer than it took in the morning, I guess that's what happens when you are doing something else at the same time. I walked in and closed the door and heard my mum in the living room, I slumped down into the sofa with a big grin on my face, my mum knew what I was going to say but she asked anyway.

"Have a nice day dear?" She asked,

"It went better than I imagined." I said,

"You're late home..." She said,

"I was just talking to my friends." I said grinning all the time,

"Oooh I see, and did you find out anything about your mysterious saviour?" She asked,

"In fact I did... I met him." I said,

"And... what's his name, I want all the gossip." She said as giddy as a little girl,

"His name's Dixon and he's a really nice guy." I said,

"Sounds good to me." She said,

"Can you keep a secret mum?" I asked,

"Of course I can." She said,

"He's so totally hot... he has these dreamy green eyes... and..." I started,

"Whoa... calm down girl. Take a deep breath." She joked,

"Sorry... it's just..." I said,

"You have a crush." She said,

"I guess." I said feeling myself blush,

"Your father won't like this..." She said,

"Dad won't like anyone I like, it's the cycle of the father." I said.

"Well you're right there." She said,

"I'm going to do my homework now." I said as I started towards the stairs,

"I won't tell your father." She said,

"Thanks mum." I said as I went upstairs.

Chapter Two - Moonlight Meeting

It was later that night when I overheard my dad and mum talking about things and my mum actually told my dad about my day, all about my new friends and what I said afterwards... it took him a while of asking but she did it. Feeling a tad annoyed I decided to sneak out. I was lucky enough to have a tree stood outside my window so I was able to climb down it easily enough. I wondered what I could do at this time of night since everyone else was home asleep... I decided to wander and get a better look at the neighbourhood.

The street lamps emitted a gentle, warming glow that was comforting in the cool night breeze. The moon cast its pale glow over the streets creating eerie shadows but they didn't scare me since there was no one else out at this time of night. As I continued looking around I came across a small playground and I could swear I heard a voice coming from somewhere inside it. Curious to whom it could be I decided to take a look. As I entered the playground I could hear the voice coming from the swings. I saw a silhouette sat on them and realised he was monologuing with himself. As I got closer I could see his face in the moonlight and it was Dixon, I was kind of surprised but I decided to say hello.

"Hi." I said.

He turned in surprise and fell off the bar and landed flat on the floor, I was already running over as he picked himself up.

"I'm sorry, are you alright?" I asked feeling foolish,

"I'm fine." He said brushing himself off,

"I'm sorry if I scared you." I said,

"Its quite alright... its just I don't see many people out at this time of night." He said,

"Why are you out so late?" I asked,

"It's a regular thing for me, I come out almost every night. To the same spot, with the same sky and moon." He said looking into the sky.

I looked up into the sky and saw it was filled with stars and the moon was full, it looked amazing.

"Wow, that's..." I started but couldn't find the words,

"Beautiful." He said,

"Yes, it is." I said feeling butterflies in my stomach, "Do you come out to watch the stars?"

"That's right, although I don't know why... I just did it once and then it became a thing for me." He said,

"I thought living in the city would mean the stars wouldn't be visible." I said,

"That's true, but out here they shine as brightly as anywhere." He said,

"I can see, they're so beautiful tonight." I said,

"You wanna... watch them with me?" He asked.

The way he said those words made him sound nervous, I couldn't help but feel nervous too.

"Sure." I said.

We both sat down and watched the sky as the stars twinkled away, Dixon was telling me about some of the other times he had come out and some of his theories of why he believed he did.

"Sounds like you have a lot of fun out here." I said,

"I guess I do, though somethimes it feels like a 'spiritual journey'." He joked.

It was quite cold since there weren't any streetlights in the park, I tried to hide the fact I was cold but couldn't help but shiver a little. Before I knew it Dixon had put his jacket around my shoulders, he smiled at me and looked back up at the sky, I bit my lip to stop myself from grinning like a five year old and looked back towards the sky. A few moments passed and we saw a spectacular sight, a shooting star flew across the sky.

"Did you see that?" I said in amazement,

"I did, I've never seen a shooting star before." He said equally amazed,

"We have to make a wish." I said,

"Okay." He said.

I closed my eyes and made a wish, I felt a hand touch my shoulder and lips press against my own, I opened my eyes slowly to see Dixon kissing me softly. I don't know how, but my wish had come true. He stopped suddenly and backed off a bit.

"I'm sorry, I don't know why I did that." He said resting his head on his knees.

I was lost for words, all I could do was blush.

"What was I thinking..." He said,

"What I was..." I said feeling myself turning bright red.

He looked surprised at what I said, I think he didn't expect me to say that.

"You know, it's getting late... I'll walk you home." He said.

We both set off walking along the street in silence, I guess we were both a little shocked from what had happened to say anything. When we finally arrived outside my house we stopped for a moment, I could see he wanted to say something.

"Will you be joining us tomorrow?" He finally asked,

"I will." I said smiling cheerfully,

"We usually gather up around Vivian's house, you remember where it is?" he asked,

"I remember." I said.

We both stood there, it was kind of an awkward moment that neither of us would have thought would happen just a while back.

"I'll see you tomorrow then." He said breaking the silence,

"Yeah, I'll see you in the morning Dixon." I said.

As he walked off and I started to climb the tree I could see him pause a second and look back and then set off again. I laid awake for a while after thinking about it, it was kind of spooky, I wished it and it happened. After a while I wondered what tomorrow would be like and then went to sleep.

Chapter Three - Living for the Weekend

My alarm went off with the annoying buzz and I slammed my hand down on it. I rubbed my eyes and climbed out of bed. While I was brushing my teeth I wondered if last night was just a dream, it could've been... but maybe it did happen. I couldn't stop questioning it, I'd just have to wait until I saw him again and see if he mentions it. I went downstairs to see my parents both sat eating breakfast.

"Morning." Mum said,

"Did you sleep well after your first day of school?" Dad asked,

"Yeah... I did actually." I said,

"I thought it was a bit odd of you to start on a Friday but what can you do?" Dad said,

"I didn't mind." I said,

"Oh I forgot, all the clocks in the house are faulty this morning... so it's actually nine forty five." Mum said,

"They're what?" I cried,

"Yeah some friends of yours stopped by and told me that they'll be back in about ten minutes." Mum said,

"I'm going to get dressed then." I said as I left.

Sometimes I wonder if technology will always have bugs in it... darn alarm clock...now they are going to think I slept in late... well I guess I did.

I finished getting ready and went downstairs and out the front door saying good bye on the way out. I went as fast as I could to Vivian's house to see them all sat outside with a few exceptions.

"Glad you could join us." Foxx joked,

"Sorry, my alarm clock is faulty." I said,

"Well at least you're here... unlike Dixon and Jennifer." Irvine chuckled,

"Dixon's not usually late... but Jennifer is most of the time so I wonder what's up?" Rico said,

"I dunno... maybe he got in a little too late last night." Vivian said,

"What do you mean?" I asked,

"Yeah he goes out somewhere, mostly on Friday nights... he keeps it secret, and I guess he likes time alone sometimes." Vivian said,

"I see." I said.

That was a start, maybe last night really did happen which made me feel giddy but I suppressed it well.

"Well here's Jen." Irvine said,

"Sorry I'm late guys, I had to stop by my cousins to pick up this book she said she'd lend me." Jennifer said,

"Always with your head in a book." Irvine joked,

"At least I can read." Jennifer giggled,

"Touché." Foxx grinned,

"And here's the master of the night himself." Rico said.

Dixon came running up, he looked tired.

"Sorry guys... didn't have much sleep last night. I was talking with grandpa until about four this morning." Dixon said,

"What could possibly keep him talking that long?" Vivian asked,

"Just some things we needed to discuss." Dixon said,

"Anyway enough with the chit chat let's go... the weekend awaits." Irvine said,

"And away we go." Jennifer said.

Although we had an enthusiastic start... no one knew what to do first so we started walking towards a place called Gigatrack Amusements. It seemed this is where they spent most of their time, it was a pretty cool place, and from the minute I stepped in there I could tell this place was a great place to hang.

"Well this is the place where everything happens." Vivian said,

"It has everything you could possibly need, sometimes we get too into it and spend all day here." Dixon said,

"Although it doesn't have a proper library." Jennifer pointed out,

"Yeah but real people don't need a library in a place like this Jen." Irvine said,

"What if you want to read?" Jen said,

"Enough bickering... lets party." Rico said.

We all split and gamed and played for hours, Vivian had invited me to play pool with her but I didn't know how, so Dixon was 'assigned' to show me.

"Okay Dix, you show her how to play, we'll come back later." Vivian said as her and Foxx left,

"But... I'm the worst player here..." Dixon said with a look of despair.

I couldn't help but giggle a little, he handed me a cue and tried to show me how to play. He placed a white ball in front of me and told me I could only hit that one with my cue and I had to 'pot' all my balls in the pockets by striking the white ball against the others. It seemed easy enough, but the concept is always easier than doing it.

I was terrible, I couldn't hit anything so Dixon stepped in to help. He leaned next to me and was showing me how to do it, but I couldn't concentrate on it. He was still showing me as he started talking to me.

"Listen, what happened last night..." He said,

"What about it?" I asked,

"I don't know why I did what I did... it was foolish of me." He said,

"It wasn't foolish..." I said,

"It wasn't?" He said looking puzzled,

"To be honest... if you hadn't... I probably would've." I said feeling a little embarrassed.

He looked at me and I couldn't help but bite my lip again... doing that was becoming a habit lately.

"I don't know what to say..." He said looking speechless,

"You don't have to say anything." I said.

He was about to lean over to me as the door opened and Vivian and Foxx came back in carrying some drinks with them.

"So are you ready to get your butt whipped from here to Calcutta?" Foxx said,

"I guess we are." Dixon said looking at me.

I could feel myself blush slightly, but it was barely noticeable. We played a game and were totally beaten by them, but I didn't mind... it was a lot of fun. After a while longer we all left, it was dark outside, I see what they had meant by spending all day there, I couldn't remember the last time I did something like this before.

"Dark again... good old games place." Rico said,

"Anybody think we spend too long in there?" Jennifer said.

They all shook their heads together and we began to walk home. The street lamps flickered to life as we walked past them, it was funny being out in the glow of the lamps again and the moon shining from behind some clouds but I couldn't see any stars yet. The others broke off and went home and there was just me, Dixon and Vivian left walking down the road.

"So did you have a good time with us today Sil'ferr?" Vivian asked,

"Yes I did, the most fun I've had in a while." I smiled,

"That's good to know." Dixon said.

As we arrived outside my house I could see my dad was getting ready to go out, which would leave me alone with my mum and I had some things to tell her, which I hoped she could keep a secret this time. I said good bye to Vivian and Dixon as I went inside, I felt a girlish glee inside and it was great.

Dixon

After saying good bye to Sil'ferr we walked towards Vivian's house, I was staying over at hers this time, and if I knew Vivian as well as I should I was going to get interrogated as to why I've been acting weird.

Hi, my name is Dixon Dayne. I had just spent another casual Saturday hanging with my friends and my new friend Sil'ferr. I don't understand why I get these funny feelings around her, no I'm not that naïve I know what love is... it's just I've never felt this way about anyone until she came along... there must be something special about this girl, but I have no idea what it is.

We were in the living room while Viv's mum and dad had gone to bed, it was late at night but we always ended up staying awake till late watching anything scary on TV, well she was watching and I was off in a dream world when she suddenly hung upside down in front of me.

"Hello." She giggled,

"Huh... sorry." I said feeling foolish,

"I've been trying to get your attention for five minutes... there's something up with you, and I'm going to get to the bottom of it." She said,

"I will never talk." I joked,

"Tough guy huh... I have ways of making you crack." She grinned.

She started tickling me... it had been my weakness ever since we were little, damn her for remembering, it wasn't long before I cracked.

"Okay I'll talk... just stop please." I cried with laughter,

"Okay, so spill it... what's up?" She said sitting cross-legged on the sofa,

"We've been friends for ages right?" I started,

"Yeah, is that it?" She asked,

"No, I feel I can tell you this so you'll keep it to yourself..." I said,

"My God... you're all serious." She smiled,

"Its about Sil'ferr..." I said.

I could see her eyes widen and sparkle, a big grin spread across her face. She flung her arms round my neck and gave me a hug.

"Awww, has Dixon been bit by the love bug... I've been waiting for this for ages... I never get to talk about stuff like this... I thought this'd never happen." She said still hugging me,

"Come on now, I can barely breathe!" I said,

"Sorry... it's just this is exciting..." She grinned,

"I'm glad you're happy." I joked,

"Oh come on, I'm kidding... so what's the scoop?" She asked almost falling off the sofa,

"Well she found me last night at my secret spot... so we just sat and watched the stars together." I said,

"Wow... so romantic." She said, finally falling off the sofa and onto my lap, "And then what?"

"We saw a shooting star." I said,

"I hope you made a wish?" She said looking up at me,

"I could see she was thinking hard, but I just thought of something... and kissed her..." I said feeling rather embarrassed,

"Woooooooooo!" She cooed,

"I don't know why I did it though... I'd only met her that morning really... I mean I remember her from the night before and I remember thinking she was really beautiful... but never gave it a second thought." I said,

"I hope you were just practising pool when we left you and not practising something else if you get me?" She giggled,

"Oh now you're going to get it!" I said.

I picked up a pillow and hit her over the head and we got into a big pillow fight until we tired ourselves out and fell asleep.

Chapter Four - School Life

Oh how the weekend flies by... I say they should make it longer. I'd spent most of Sunday doing my homework, I knew that Sil'ferr had been right and I had to start doing better anyway, I am more or less a smart guy... so I'm going to put my brains to use.

It was Monday morning and I was just getting ready for school when my dad called me down.

"What's up dad?" I asked,

"I just wanted to let you know... I've been called in to work late again tonight, so I'm going to have to make a rain check on the thing." He said,

"That's okay dad, we'll do it next week." I said,

"Anyways I got to go, I'll make it up to you I promise." He said heading to the front door.

I started slowly going back upstairs as my mum spoke to me.

"I'm sorry Dixon, but things are getting a bit hectic at work." She said,

"I know mum, your work is important." I said going upstairs,

"I hate it when he gets like this dad." She said,

"He's a good kid, he understands. But you could spend some time with him, it's been months since he and his dad did something together." Gramps said,

"I'm beginning to feel it's too late for that." She said.

I had finished getting ready for school when the monitor of my computer flashed on.

"You there bro?" Rico said,

"Yup, what's up?" I asked,

"Foxx said he'd seen some guys from South side around school, you might wanna go get Sil'ferr... Irvine's gone to get Vivian. We'll all meet up at school yeah." Rico said,

"Sure, I will do." I said turning the screen off.

As I left my house I could see some South side kids hanging around but they didn't notice me, so I carried on towards Sil'ferr's house. When I got there I could see her just walking out, so I waved over and walked over to the gate.

"Hey, what's up?" She asked,

"Nothing much, just told that we should be careful this morning since South side kids are still walking around." I said,

"Why would they be up here?" She asked,

"Probably to pick a fight... after what Rico and some others started before and the incident with you, I think they want some pay back." I said,

"We'll be fine as long as we stick together yeah." She said almost blushing,

"Sure we will." I said.

We set off walking and she held onto me all the way there, we saw a few groups of South side kids but most of them were the non violent sort, just dirty looks and staring. When we finally made it to the school gates we could see the same gang of thugs that had chased Sil'ferr before, they were yelling at the others and some other students.

"Well if you want me to I can smash you're face in, make you look better yeah!" The big one said,

"If you did that I'd look like you." Rico mocked,

"Listen Rico, you might just be ready for an ass whoopin'!" The big one said,

"Why don't you just back off okay." I said.

They all turned round and I could see they remembered me and Sil'ferr from before, maybe that wasn't a smart move.

"Look who it is boy's... it's the little hero and the damsel in distress." The big one laughed.

All the others laughed too, but I wasn't laughing.

"I might get to finish what I started on her after all." The big one said walking forward.

I stepped in front of Sil'ferr and the guy stopped and started laughing again.

"You wanna be a hero again boy. Well that's fine by me." The big one said.

He got ready to hit me when Foxx jumped on him from behind, after that everyone joined in and a big fight followed. Vivian ran towards Sil'ferr and me and led us inside the gates where they couldn't follow. Fighting was a serious offence, especially when it involved our two kinds, and that meant Foxx, Rico and Irvine could be in serious trouble. Fortunately a Police Re-Con droid came and the fight immediately broke up and the South side bunch began to run... while the Principal came out to deal with the troublemakers.

"And what on Earth was going on?" The Principal asked firmly,

"It was South side again Sir... they deserved everything they got." Rico said,

"When will you boys learn that fighting doesn't solve anything." The Principal said,

"If I may say something sir, it was in fact the South side crowd who started it all off." I said,

"Well if that's true Dayne then I will be in touch with their Principal and sort something out. But that doesn't mean fighting should happen outside my gates, is that clear." The Principal said.

We all nodded and he left. Everyone gathered together and began talking about what happened.

"If something doesn't stop this fighting soon, who knows what could happen." Some boy said,

"The fighting will stop, one way or another." Foxx said,

"Why can't something be worked out?" Sil'ferr said,

"It's not easy, it's mainly your kind that they want to beat up. But when we stand in their way it gets them even more angry." Some girl said,

"Why do they hate us so much?" Sil'ferr asked,

"Because their parents have filled their heads with lies about us been spawn of evil." I said,

"That's terrible, why would they say such things?" Sil'ferr asked.

None of us knew, it was one of the mysteries that hung over the city since it began. Soon enough the bell rung and we all headed off for first class. It was a funny feeling, I'd actually done my homework... the teacher was surprised.

"And last but not least... Dayne. Have you got your homework? Should I even ask?" He said,

"I got it sir." I said cheesily,

"My goodness... this is a first." He said looking shocked,

"I decided to change sir." I said,

"What could possibly make you change Dayne?" He said going back to his desk,

"I know." Vivian said quietly, grinning away from next to me,

"You promised..." I said,

"I'm kidding." She grinned.

After class we all met up outside in our usual place and started talking about usual things to forget about the events of the morning.

"So then he told me I wasn't clamping it enough and I ended up crushing it... so looks like I'm going to have to start again." Irvine said,

"Speaking of crush... you know the guy in the library I like." Jennifer said,

"Yeah." We all said,

"He asked me out today." She said with a smile forming,

"Go girl." Vivian said,

"So Jen's set up, what about you guys... with the exception of Dix since he is incapable of it." Irvine joked,

"Hey come on... I'm sat right here." I said,

"It's true though isn't it?" Rico said,

"Maybe yes maybe no." I said,

"Okay Mr Almighty... I bet you can't get any girl to kiss you in the next forty five minutes." Irvine said,

"I dunno..." I said,

"Come on Dix, girls will be lining up for this rare chance." Rico said,

"I'm going to regret this." I said feeling done over,

"Forty five minutes starting now." Irvine said.

Immediately after he said that Vivian grabbed me and kissed me. It was unexpected yes, but somehow it wasn't weird.

"He wins." Vivian laughed,

"That's not fair, you're cheating." Irvine said,

"You did say any girl Irvy." Foxx chuckled,

"I know I did but..." Irvine said,

"Aww, have we made Irvy cry?" Jennifer joked,

"I feel I have just been conned." Irvine said looking grumpy.

We all laughed for a while afterwards, it was the easiest bit of cash I have ever made. I gave half to Vivian for her help... I guess that was what she was doing... I hope that's what she was doing. After school had ended we all began to set off home, it was the weirdest thing ever... me and Rico were out on time, the teachers could hardly believe it themselves. The main thing of the conversation on the way home was based around me and Vivian getting together.

"Wouldn't it be weird if Dixon and Vivian got together?" Jennifer said,

"That'd never happen, things like that never happen." Rico said,

"I dunno Rico, they may be best friends but they're still just a guy and a girl." Irvine said,

"Knock it off will you guys." I said,

"I'm just saying my thoughts out loud Dix." Jennifer said,

"Well you're thoughts are disturbing Jen." Vivian said,

"I know they are, too many horror stories in there." Jennifer giggled.

After that the conversation died down a bit and the others split up and went home leaving me and the girls walking home. I was feeling uncomfortable, Vivian was spending tonight at my house and after all the talk today... well it would be a weird night for me.

We stopped by Sil'ferr's first and then headed to mine, I could see that Sil'ferr was a bit concerned about all the talk today I'd have to let her know that's all it was... talk, Vivian only thinks of me as a friend... doesn't she?
