Chapter 2: Something's Amiss...

Gotta love brother love, right? Anyway, we left off with the two brothers sleeping away the night, but in the village, trouble was brewing to a boiling point... It was late at night, all was quiet and peaceful... At least, all around except for the council chambers. There was something going on in the chambers, a decision was most likely being made... "We have two options" said a dark grey dragon, "either we banish him or execute him in front of the whole village" "Either option will work, we just need to get rid of this filth" said an elderly blue dragon. They had called a gathering at this time for security and urgent reasons. They were all sitting around a big, circular slab of stone, and in the middle, a huge fire roared, never needing to be tended to. The fire shone on the walls, casting shadows of all the members on the council all around. The council ran the village, deciding laws, issuing justice, and all other sorts of things like that. This topic they were discussing had lasted for ages, all over one single decision for one dragon... This time, they wanted to resolve it once and for all, so they had stayed up late, discussing the topic... "He has gotten into a fight with my son just for calling him a name! That is preposterous, no fight should start over that..." said an orange dragon. This dragon was sitting at the head of the table, because he was the village leader after all. He had always wanted this problem gone, ever since it became an issue. He hated anything different then himself or normal, he didn't like change, unless it served justice in the harshest of ways. "Just because of a fight, we are going to kill this young dragon?" asked the blue elder. "Why not?" the lead dragon replied. "It seems a little... extreme" stated the blue dragon. "Well, we can't have a dragon like this running loose around our village, so we can have him arrested, and he can sit in jail until we reach a decision" the dark grey dragon suggested. All the others agreed tiredly, and then the meeting was adjourned...

Zepher was the first to wake, Terran was still out cold. Zepher glanced over at his brother, and noticed he was sleeping with a smile, and he was purring in the cutest way. A smile formed on Zepher's face, he thought to himself "I am a lucky guy to have such an awesome brother" and then headed to the kitchen. When he arrived in the kitchen, another note was there. It read "My precious children, your father and I went on a little trip, we won't be back for a bit, but we won't be gone for more then two days! Love you both, and Zepher, take care of your brother when we are gone, though I know you always do. Love you, Mom" Zepher left the note where it was, then started to whip up a quick breakfast for him and his bro... Terran woke, yawned for a bit, then looked around with half open eyes. He smacked his maw a couple times, then smelled food. "Mmm, big bro's cooking again!" Terran said, then sat for a bit in his bed, just clearing his dream and left over thoughts from his head. Once he was good to go, he ran out and searched for his bro, which he found in the kitchen. Terran started a run to hug his bro, then thought better of it since he was cooking, and he didn't fancy getting all sticky anytime soon... Zepher spun and jumped a bit at the sight of Terran, but then said "Hey there young dragon! You sleep good? Well, I've got some pancakes for ya to wake you up for the day" he smiled down at his little bro. Terran just jumped on the spot, like a dog begging for a treat. "I slept great, now can I have pancakes?" Zepher laughed at this display, and said "Sure, you can have some pancakes" and placed the plateful of pancakes on the table. Terran jumped into his seat and already had four pancakes on his plate and drenched in syrup before Zepher could sit down... Terran loved pancakes, especially the way his bro made them. One time, Terran tried to make pancakes himself, and he did a good job with the pancakes, but there was still a lot of work to be done on cleaning up after himself... Terran and Zepher sat there, eating away at the delicious pancakes. After they had finished, they both headed outside, and then went off to do their own things... Terran went back to finish the game he had been playing. His team was all back together, and Terran was happy as ever, as usual. This time, Terran's team dominated the opposition, and the score will not be said it was that bad of a beat-down... Zepher headed into town and went to his job for another day of work. He arrived, and he already had customers waiting to play. He signed them up, took them to a battlefield, and setup for their game. Zepher worked as a referee in a game called "Element-ball". Each dragon had their own element, but they were given a special mask that not only protected them, but made it so they can shoot their element in a ball form, like a bullet. The objective of the game varies with what the players want, but basically, you get hit by an elemental ball and it shatters, you are OUT, or dead... The team that stays alive wins! Zepher was there to make sure dragons followed a couple of rules and to judge when someone is killed or not... However, while he does this, he can get hit on accident... Zepher started the game, and was hit in the side of the head by a red elemental ball right away. He turned to find who had shot him, and it was Flame! He just laughed and kept playing, making Zepher relax a little. Soon, Flame received what he gave, he took a shot right to the face, and was knocked down. The other red dragon was still shooting him, which is against the rules, but Zepher just turned the other way, not making the call. Eventually, Flame got up and exited the arena, with lots of blue and purple spots. The game then went quickly after that. The same red dragon tried doing what he did to Flame on another yellow dragon, but Zepher called him out on it. Then, after the red dragon was called out, he got shot, putting him out of the game. In the end, Flame's team won, and then, they all left, thanking Zepher for the great time. Even Flame said thanks, which caught Zepher off guard, but he said you're welcome back. The rest of Zepher's work day didn't have much difference, he refereed a few more matches and then headed home... Terran met Zepher part way home, and the two bros walked together to their little house. Zepher went and took a shower, feeling a lot better after a hard days work, and then came out and sat on the couch. Zepher sat there, just relaxing, clearing his mind of the days events... All of a sudden, a green figure was hugging his side, snuggling him. "You smell good, did you shower?" Terran said with a smile. "Yeah, I did. But it wasn't the smell that gave it away was it?" Zepher said in return. "Nope, the dampness did..." Terran giggled, then snuggled more into his bro. They sat there, just relaxing and enjoying each others company. Zepher looked at his bro and started to say "Ok bro, it's getting late, we should-" then saw Terran had fallen asleep next to him. Zepher chuckled, picked up his bro, and carried him to his bed. Zepher laid Terran down in bed, tucked him in, and then kissed him on the forehead. A smile spread across Terran's face, and he started to purr. Zepher chuckled to himself, he loved his brother, he wishes he could show all of the love he felt for him, but his love was too much. Zepher headed for his bed, then clampered into it. As he dozed off, Zepher worried as his thoughts wandered, but they wandered into a spot that was unfamiliar to him, but he wishes he didn't find it...

(This next scene is NOT a love scene, it's a "brotherly love" Terran and Zepher are not gay, they are brothers... Now, back to the story)

Terran and Zepher were walking along, a beautiful setting sun in the distance. Zepher turned to his brother and said to him, "Terran, do you know how much I love you? Take a guess..." Terran replied, "You make food and tuck me into bed..." Zepher chuckled and said, "Yeah, I do that, but I love you more then that. My love for you Terran is as big as the universe!" Terran then did something... not normal. Terran said to his brother, "That's good to hear, but..." Terran paused and looked at the ground, "...I don't love you back..." Zepher was hit hard by this statement, his passion, his own little brother, had just said he didn't love him back! Zepher replied in a chocked voice "What? Why not?" Terran then said coldly, "You're a fur dragon, you're different then everyone else. I only acted like I loved you for the past few years cause it made you feel better..." Zepher was now in tears. He couldn't believe it, his own brother had just called him a fur dragon, in the insulting way! He felt torn inside, there was almost no more meaning to his life. Just then, a distant voice was heard, it sounded familiar... "ZEPHER!!! HE'S NOT ME!!!" The real Terran yelled, sprinting at the two dragons standing there. Zepher paused and took a deep breath, looked at the figure next to him, then back at the one running at him. The one running at them had a face shining with happiness, worry at the moment, and a great love for his brother. At this sign that the one coming towards the pair was the real Terran, Zepher turned to the other and said "You know what? I don't love you either. In fact, I think I might make a meal out of ya, fur dragons LOVE little dragons." An evil grin spread across his face, he licked his chops, and the imposter ran off, screaming... Zepher wiped the tears from his face, and then turned to find Terran almost on top of him. Terran jumped into his brothers arms, his eyes were full of tears. "I'm sorry bro, I'm sorry..." Terran started, but Zepher just hushed him with a hug. Zepher then rubbed his sad brothers head, over and over, and said in a kind voice "It's okay, whatever you did, it's over now. So I guess I'll ask the Real Terran this question: Do you know how much I love you?" Zepher grinned as his brother lifted his head, tears gone "I think a lot." Zepher chuckled, as always, and said "Yes, I do a lot. But not just a lot, my love for you is as big as the whole universe." Terran's eyes widened as he tried to picture this, and then he said "That's big, but I think I love you more! I love you as much as our home!" Zepher couldn't help but laugh at this, he knew the universe was a lot bigger then their house, but he still said "That is a lot of love" and the two brothers stood there, embracing each other...
