Wolf Rescue

I don't normally do back story to my writing, but this one needs it. The story is in reference to a picture done by Toughset where Toughsetta is chest deep in quicksand and isn't letting anyone save her. He kind of threw the gauntlet for people that would want to save this character and so I wrote this because, as some of you may know, I'm not much of a drawer. This was a fun little short where I have Wolf rescuing an armadillo girl from quicksand. There is no porn or sex involved in this so if you were hoping for that you can wait until I finish my next commission. Anyway thanks for being fans and enjoy.

The large, heavily muscular wolf moved his way towards the pit after having heard the news about Toughsetta. He had to feel a little sorry for the armadillo, being that she'd wanted to get into the PRR and even jumped into a pit of quicksand just to prove that she could. It took little evidence to know that she was now stuck there and refusing to be helped by anyone that was offering. Wolf could understand her wanting to be in the group that her brother was in, wanting to prove that she was just as good as he was and maybe even make him proud. Family was important to a wildborn and he had to assume it was important to all breeds regardless of where they were raised. Even if it wasn't the case of her simply wanting to work with him, it made the large white canine happy to believe it was true. All of this and now she was stuck in a pit to try and prove herself. Pride was something that could hurt more than any physical injury if wounded. A broken bone can't force you to refuse help and a bruised eye doesn't shy you away from those that you care about. If anything she was likely to be refusing the help of others, especially her brother, because she was embarrassed from putting herself into this situation to begin with. Even if studying was boring, some people learned better by being shown and experiencing things first hand. Wolf didn't even have the ability to read so that put her at a level higher than him in these scales.

The dark, illuminated hallways grew darker as he approached the brighter light source that was the sun shining through the doorway. This large creature winced his eyes a bit at the sudden brightness, but even that flash of light wasn't going to stop him from accomplishing this goal. Those pitch black orbs stood out easily against his snow white fur. Not just the pupils and the iris were black, but even the whites of his eyes were completely pitch in color leaving no one to ever be able to tell exactly where this large wolf was looking. His heavy steps came to be expected from someone built the way he was. This canine was the size and build of a war horse, and that added strength had come in handy many times in his life. Wolf spent a good deal of his time out here these days and knew the grounds well. Being illiterate made it impossible to study by way of books and he'd have to train himself to overcome these obstacles and pits on his own through trial and error. If nothing else he was confident that he'd be able to pull her out in the least, but that wasn't exactly why he was here.

Even as he approached he could see that this young female had already started to draw a crowd. Anyone that came in close enough to try and help her would be turned away by her angry yelling and frustration. It was little to say that the situation could get very dangerous. If someone tried to force her out then she could sink in even deeper or even pull them down with her in the struggle. It didn't take much to prove that people were trying to think of other ways to get her out. Wolf approached Toughsetta from behind and moved his way around to the front of the pit before crouching down at its banks. People could easily tell, first and foremost, that he didn't that he didn't wear any clothing at all. It was one of the few ways that people could tell right off the start that this wasn't your normal city bread canine, but it did disturb some people.

"Go away." She's say to him trying not to look at his nude body, "I've already told everyone I don't need any help."

"I'm not here to help you, but you do need to get out of there. I won't touch you, but take my advice. Just lean back so that your body and float a bit." He'd instruct her easily in his deep voice.

She looked around herself and, from what he could tell, actually crossed her arms a bit under the surface of the sand. It was obvious that she didn't want anyone helping her or giving her advice on how to help herself.

"Come on, Toughsetta," he'd start up again, "You can't be in there all day. Eventually someone will just dive in there to help you out. It will look a lot better if you get out on your own."

This drew a sigh from the frustrated armadillo. If anything Wolf was right and at least helping herself would be better than someone having to pull her out screaming and kicking. With a nod she'd start to lean back. The female was already very deep in the sand and Wolf knew this, but his ability to manipulate the shadows would prove useful when he'd gather then under her feet to help push her up a bit as she laid flat on the sand. This helped to keep her above the surface so that when she started swimming she didn't sink back down. It took a while to get back to the edge, but quicksand doesn't move out of the way so easily when there isn't a lot of pressure baring down on it. It wasn't too long before she was finding herself pulling up on the solid ground and finding it a bit difficult with the extra weight that came with being covered in quicksand. A few furs would move over to help pull her out, but were waved off easily while she got back to more solid ground. The large canine made his way towards her and stood there while she picked herself up.

"I'm not much of a studier either, but if you ever want someone to practice these courses with you can look me up. I'm usually around." His voice was eased at the fact that she'd made it herself and that he didn't really need to help her. Even if he did need to, she would never know that he did. With a turn he'd leave her be and head off to find something else to do knowing that she'd most likely want to go clean herself up.
