Just as Harriet had predicted, the elves had begun setting up a village within the town after they had deemed it secure. Wooden structures had already begun going up in a circle with one big open air building in the middle which appeared to be holding a celebration of victory of having wiped out the town's National Guard defenders. The two could hear the effects of drinking and loud music even from their location almost half the town away.

After remaining near the tank's wreck to gain their collective breaths for a little under ten minutes, the sky darkening overhead, the thick smoke from the buring city in the east sending the small suburban area in almost total darkness. The carbine in Harriet's paws was a small comfort, having seen first hand what a magical shield could do to even a tank cannon round, and he wondered how many of those damn elves could do the same thing.

The mess of tight alleyways between three and four story townhouses Lunatic and Harriet soon found themselves in provided precious relief from the enemy forces who weren't currently celebrating. The pair had stumbled into a vice-like grip of patrols, while a small rainstorm had begun, soaking their uniforms through and though within a matter of minutes, while the water pounded all around them, forming puddles in the shaded alleyway.

The wolf definatly had it worse than he did, Harriet decided, taking a quick glance at his matted down fur, smell of wet dog in the air, only somewhat countered by the scent of ozone as the rain fell, shaking those thoughs from his mind before looking back down the sights of the carbine at the end of the alleyway, watching for anything that was passing. Water ran down the beam of his headset piece, and dripped onto the stock of his rifle with a dull click, bearly audible over the soft patter of the rain. Lucky the radios were just as waterproof as he was.

They didn't need them for this range though, as Lunatic whispered just over the sound of the storm, sound of lightning in the distance giving a hint as to what they were in for later during the night. "I think we're clear..." His head rolled, Harriet catching it out of the corner of his crystaline eyes as he motioned to the two lane road just across the alleyway, behind where he was currently facing. His muzzle nodded and he turned swiftly, rifle lowered to point at the ground as he shuffled up, while Lunatic swung about to aim his Baretta back at the street where his dragon companion had been looking moments ago.

Shifting up far enough to the edge of the wall, he poked his head out, a little jerk around the corner, checking if there was anyone there to his right. After a second of silence in the rain, no shouting, no arrows trying to imaple where he had just been, he decided it was safe enough to have another look. A gaze out down both of the streets, no on in sight, just more rain soaked streets. The overhanging balcony above providing a little shield from the falling rain. He rapped on the wall with his knuckles, enough to make a small thunk, and for Lunatic to turn his head, while Harriet motioned out to the street with the tip of his rifle.

With the wolf's confirming nod, Harriet took a dash across the street, streaks of rainwater pelting him as he sprinted to the opposite alleyway, footsteps slapping as they impacted the soaked ground. He was almost there, before a massive weighted form crashed down in front of him, force of the landing form and it's wings enough to send the grey dragon flying back as the air cuaght his own wings, sending him to the ground with a heavy smack, a pained yelp escaping his muzzle as it jarred his broken wing.

Bangs filled the air as he stared into the sky stunned, vision rolling from side to side as the tried to get his bearings back. Yellow flashes coated the walls and ground around him, and he forced his head upwards... forwards, eyes widening as he saw what had knocked him back, mainly the van sized feathered form of a gryphon, plate armoured rider sliding from it's neck like straight out of an ancient fairy tale, the sound of a sharp metal blade sliding against it's sheathe as it begged for dragon blood to be spilled all over it's edge shaking him back to reality.

Behind him Lunatic fired rapidly, the echoing banging pops of his unsuppressed Baretta continuing to fill the air, the rounds sparking as they bounced off the steel plate of the warrior closing on the tanker pair, shimmering as it did, obiovusly some kind of magic ward in play. There was a click as Harriet tried to clamber back to his feet, stopped by the steel plates within his own vest as Lunatic dived back into cover to reload, sound of an empty clip bouncing off the rain soaked ground.

With claymore drawn, the warrior brought it over his head and straight down. Life flashing before his eyes he rolled over on his left side as where he was a second ago, the pavement shattered as the claymore cleaved the road surface in two, cracks spider webbing out around the impact. As he rolled to a stop a metre away as the gryphon rider tried to yank his sword loose, Harriet clicked his carbine to auto and went rock-and-roll as the gryphon itself charged him. Orange sparks went everywhere as the carbine roared, flying off in each direction as the rounds pinged off his magically reinforced armour, before the magic finally gave out, and the last five bullets punched clean through him, a short burst of red mist spraying out from his back before the armoured form of the gryphon knight fell to his knees and then on his chest, dead.

Before he could celebrate, the knight's mount roared as it ran into the dragon's side, kicking him up, and through the glass of a building's window behind him, his scaled form bouncing off a table, much to the horror of the family within the unit he'd just been thrown through, the sound of childlike screams filling the air as he slid to a halt on his side, feeling every fibre of his form ache, deep bleeding cuts from glass that had slashed through his camouflage dress quickly reddening the soaked fabric.

He rolled himself over, adrenaline coursing through his veins powering him over the pain in his body, looking at the window as the feathered beast of terror slammed against the wall, cracks forming all over it, wood creaking as more screams filled the air. More muted bangs sounded from outside, Lunatic's gun most likely, but the beast roared not with pain, only hungry anger as it tried to smash through the wall, rearing back for another strike. Dropping the empty magazine from the well oiled carbine, quickly replacing it with another magazine from his vest, and yanking back the charge grip on the sight mount with a cha-chink, just as the beast rammed through the wall, dust and sebris flying all over as Harriet filled it full of holes, covering the floor in brass as the enraged creature collapsed, a final, soft growl of defiance filling the air as it's life slipped away

Harriet looked on in stunned amazement as it finally stopped, the tip and centre of his rifle smoking from the heat as his head turned to the family cowering underneath a table across the room from him, noting the girl hiding against her mother's furred form as they looked on in terror. His head rolled back to the floor, body slumping as the pain caught up with him, letting out a coughed laugh as Lunatic clambered over the downed beast into the destroyed living room, his voice calling out through the dust.

"Harriet! You okay?"

He went to rise but only let out a groan instead, deciding it was perhaps better if he lay right here for the moment. "Ah... don't mind me wolf... I think the wall came out worse for wear."

Silence for a moment, then chuckled as the pair caught up with the fact that they'd cheated death once more, only their minds able to see the humour in what had just happened, before another voice, one from underneath the table spoke up.

"Who... ARE you people?!"
