Break Out

Khan: Age 16: Summer Vacation

I can't wait to see her; it's been too long since I saw her last, Cathy's long flowing brown hair, her perfect smile, and her wonderful personality. She's never met my parents and thank god for that, she's a red wolf. My mom is just crazy with her continuing racism, that's why I'm spending the entire summer down there. I can already smell freedom, and it smells great.

The town isn't much, just one of these towns that pops up every now and then. To be honest it's not exactly a town, more like a place that people are tired of racism come to get away from it. Not that I could blame them, I've had more than my fair share pointed at me. A few common ones are that dragon hair can be used as hands, only a few can, dragons are famous for their anger issues, I've never been mad, and we are all penny pinchers, god I hate this one a lot. I know even after all of this time that racism is still a huge part of everyday life but it needs to stop.

As I entered the town a sign said, "Welcome to Everett." There weren't many people around this morning. I was staying at the Kanius Inn; I booked a room for the entire summer. I went in to check in and no one was there. I looked over the counter and saw the clerk dead on the floor. At that point the only thing on my mind was checking if Cathy is alright. I didn't get back in my car I just ran from there, her house is only a few blocks down.

When I arrived at Cathy's house the door was wide open and her father's body splayed across the opening was keeping it open. I leaped over his now lifeless form and then I saw her. I ran to make sure she was still alive but it only confirmed my fears. I picked her up and cradled her lifeless form in my arms silent tears running down my cheeks. Several hours later the Peace Officers arrive and accused me.

Kahn: Age 26

I shot up in bed, this time it wasn't just a slight scare, all of that was something I had long ago suppressed, I had long ago forgotten the exact images, "Why me?"

Looking down at me from the ceiling Abby growled out "What was that about!"

"Sorry, I just had a nightmare, about the day I was placed in Hell. It was more vivid in my dream that it was in reality," I said.

Dropping down from the ceiling and placing a hand on my chest she said, "Sorry, you just surprised me and threw me at the ceiling with how fast you sat up."

"Don't worry about it I think I'd be mad too if I was in your position. Still that really freaks me, out I had thoroughly blocked out every single one of those memories and now they are just flooding back, clearer than ever," I said as I wrapped my arms around her.

Cuddling in she said "If you want to talk about it we can, but I won't push you."

"Well we shouldn't have secrets from each other, and it's better to let it out. Just know that she is no longer alive and I only have feelings for you now and I also had hair," I said.

Turning over in my arms she looked up at me and said "You've got hair," running her paw through my inch-long hair she continued "Sorta, I'm glad my hair is growing back."

"Well some idiots think that my family can use their hair as an extra set of hands, we can't but others can. I kept it short while I was in Hell due to those idiotic stereotypes," I said chuckling a little to myself.

Laughing Abby said "That would be helpful though." Extracting herself from my arms she stood up and stretched, "I don't think I'm going to get anywhere near sleep again, and it's only 2 hours before we would wake up normally, what do you have planned for today?"

"Well the ship is ready for us to leave; I'd like to get out of here as soon as possible. I now remember why I left in the first place. And if you don't mind I'd like to tell my dad about your condition," I said.

Getting dressed she said "Okay, if you think it's a good idea, but considering he's a dragon with a millennium of experience I'm not going in unarmed." Putting on her Arc gun and her set of 3 smaller ones she looked at me still in the bed and said "Hurry up slow-poke."

Getting up I started to get dressed and said, "I put all of my stuff on the ship last night, including Ted, and about telling my dad, he happens to be where I learned tolerance of others. My Mom though, now she is a real bigot."

Standing by the door watching me she said "That may be but you're half again my size and he's your size twice over."

"He's not going to get violent, that may be his business strategy but it definitely isn't his nature. He does have an entire sector that is Husks," I said reassuringly, "like what you see?" I asked while dressing slowly.

As the frown slipped off her face she said "Well that does reassure me somewhat, and of course, whether it's watching you get dressed or undressed I do enjoy watching you."

"Well I'll see you at the ship, by the way, are we moving into the same cabin or not," I asked.

Putting a claw on her chin thoughtfully she said "I'm not sure, like I said before, mine tends to be rather messy, it's harder to find things when it's organized."

"Well I never said your cabin, besides we do have a few other rooms on the ship now," I said.

Grinning manically she said "Good, I can have a lab again! Are you ready yet?"

"Yes, but I will meet you at the ship," I said walking over and pecking her on the cheek.

Shrugging her jacket on and pulling the hood up she headed off to where I told her the hanger was from here. I headed off in the opposite direction to my dad's office. He should be in there by now, we haven't really spent much time together and this way is probably the only way I can get him down to the hangar. His office was decorated with some of the most beautiful wood, red wood. Everything about his office is red.

"Hey dad," I said as I entered his office.

"Yes, what is it," he said looking up from the mountain of paperwork.

"We're leaving, do you want to see us off," I asked.

"No I've got a huge amount of paperwork here," he said.

"Dad, that paperwork is going to be there later, and can't you have someone else do it," I asked.

"Good point, alright then, let's go," he said putting down his pen and getting up.

We headed on down to the hangar talking about random stuff. When we arrived at the hangar Abby dropped onto my shoulders from above. I guessed she liked it, why wouldn't she though. I stood there looking at the ship, it was a fantastic design. My dad just kinda chuckled to himself.

"So do you like it," I asked as I pecked her on the cheek.

Nodding very quickly Abby said "I'm not sure what to name her though; they rebuilt her from the ground up so she is essentially a new ship."

"Well you did say you'd like to name something typhoon. Why don't you pull that rope over there," I said pointing to the rope ten feet away.

Looking at me for a second Abby jumped off my shoulder and barely slowed when she grabbed the rope I had indicated. Landing some 15 feet away she turned around to look at me when the cover that had been over the name landed on her. "Surprise, I hope you like it. I hope you didn't know," I said.

Pulling her way out of the cover and seeing the side of the ship her eyes went wide. Throwing the cover at me she jumped at the ship and said "Where is the door already!"

"The primary door is a ramp, figured it'd be easier," I said, "but could you come over here real quick?"

Looking at me she hopped back off the top of the Typhoon and came back over to me. Looking over at Dad she said "Oh, are we doing this now?"

"Yeah, figured we'd better get it out of the way," I said, "Dad, we have something to tell you, well two things actually."

"Well go ahead and tell me already," he said.

"First thing is I'm not going to get married the way mom wants me to, I want a modern wedding not the old dragon way. Second is, Hey, Abby could you take off that jacket," I asked. As Abby nodded in the shade of her hood she used put her arms back and pulled the jacket off with her tail, her face and arms showing her to be a husk. "Yeah, she's a husk she has been since she arrived here, I know I had to lie to mom about it," I said.

"Yeah I kinda figured on both. Don't worry though small broken skin, your secret is safe with me, I know how Beatrice can overreact," he said, "You two also have my blessing."He reached over and hugged me and Abby.

Wriggling out of his grip Abby said "Now that we have his blessing, what is this about a ramp, we can't dock with stations if we have a ramp."

"It has the ramp for landing zones like this and a small door near the bridge so we can do a direct link," I said.

Carrying her jacket wrapped around her tail Abby darted away to find the ramp, leaving Dad alone with me. Giving the family handshake to Dad I walked over to where Abby was hanging from the bottom of the ship and laid my hand on the discreet scanner pad. As soon as it opened wide enough for her to twist through Abby was in and darting along, probably towards the front of the ship. Walking up the ramp I heard it close behind me as well as Ted's irritated shouting at Abby, taking that as a warning I latched onto the wall and sure enough felt the ship lean back and the sheer weight of several gravities immediately hit me. After we had left the atmosphere, what little there was, of Earth the weight almost immediately cut away and I made my way to the windows to see one last view of it. As I was watching I saw something out the window that caught my attention.

Calling out I said "Hey Abby, you may want to take a look at this, and slow down."

Walking over and staring at the window from the ceiling over my head she said "What's up?"

"I think that's a derelict ship over there," I said excitedly.

Punching in a few keys on her digipad, which she had probably already synced to the ship, I saw a line appear around the object we were looking at, the object suddenly zoomed in and let us get a clearer image. As the details cleared Abby said "It's not any make I've ever seen, or stolen."

"Think we should check it out," I asked.

Dropping from the ceiling Abby went to the main controls and plotted a sublight navigation pattern to the unknown ship. "Well that answers my question. I'll go suit up," I said. About 10 minutes later I was aboard the derelict ship. I turned on flash light and proceeded to the bridge. I then slid in a transmitter into a slot that would give her all pertinent information. "You getting that," I asked over the comm.

"Yes, continue on, there are life signs strangely," Abby said.

"Really, this ship seems incredibly old. Well in any case lead me to the engine room or tell me how to get this crate running at full power," I said.

"No go, the engine room is gone, there seems to be a secondary generator running something, if you take a left you're heading towards the life signs," she said.

"Okay, well is the engine room sealed off," I asked on my way there.

Huffing Abby said "It's gone, there is no checking it, the door where it was is to the right and then an immediate left."

"Okay thanks," I said. I followed her directions and found the place where the engine room was supposed to be. The door was almost sealed, I put my claws through some of the metal and forced the door the rest of the way closed, "How many life signs are there," I asked.

"About fourteen" she said.

"Two things, one we need to get some air in here, and two how much space do we have," I asked.

"Well that's good, we are going to have to take them to the planet with us. I'm now heading to the life signs, work on the air would you, it would be nice if they don't die," I said heading to the room with the life signs.

"Yeah, I'll figure something," hearing rustling she then shouted "Ted get down here, AND TURN THE GRAVITY BACK OFF!"

I entered a room with fourteen pod shaped things inside. It took me a minute to realize they were stasis pods. They were covered with a layer of dust I took my glove and swiped it across the glass of the containers. Oh my God, real live humans. This is just unbelievable; everyone thought they were all dead. "Hey, Abby this right here is a historical find," I said.

"..ED DROP THA..." turning to the mic she said "What, historical find?"

"Well the ship its self is older than my parents, and the life signs should be as well, they've been in the ship the entire time in suspended animation. There humans they all didn't die out I'm looking at one right now," I said.

"Probably should shoot them but I suppose we can bring them onboard," She said.

"Yes, I realize they nearly wiped themselves out but they still deserve to live. How's that air coming by the way," I asked.

Hearing the sound of metal hitting a skull she said "Had to knock out Ted to finish, but it's done, limited self maintaining air bubble, you can bring them back using it, I've got it locked onto your coordinates and flying there."

"Okay, I'm starting the defrost sequence now," I said. I pressed the button to initiate the wake up. It took about 5 minutes then I started waking them up saying, "Wake up we need to move now!"I ushered the fourteen humans into the ship.

"Follow me into your quarters," I said. Leading them to the spare storage unit Abby asked "Did you think the check about diseases?" while eyeing a male and female pair of humans who didn't look so good. "Not enough time would have run out of air before I checked them all," I said. "I didn't want to run out of air in there," I said."Ok as you all know you aren't near earth. It has been a good 2000 years since you were last there. You are all probably disoriented. We need to examine each of you and see if you are all fit the first two I'm checking are you two," I said while pointing to the ones who didn't look so well. "Stay out of the med bay and out of their way," I whispered to Abby.

Jumping to the ceiling with surprising ease I finally noticed that gravity was about one tenth normal. Saluting me as a joke she said "Aye Aye standing medi doctor!" and she propelled herself in the direction of the control room.

I headed off into the medical bay the other two following me. I think I already know what they have. If it's the case it affects about only 0.5 percent of the galactic population.Maldorium, or more commonly called Space Plague, and they definitely had it. They had all of the symptoms I had to ask, "Um, are you two life mates? If so have you engaged in the physical act of sex?"

"Yes we are life mates and we did just before we went into stasis," the female spoke up.

"I'm sorry to tell you this them you both are going to die and in a matter of hours. Space plague usually kills within 24 hours but it was stopped while you were in stasis so now it's going to rapidly kill you. I'm sorry there's no other way to tell you this," I said grimly.

"So it's for certain then? We are going to die," The male asked.

"Yes it is unfortunate but there is no way you will live. Space plague kills so fast that we can't even come up with a cure. Plus now it's extremely rare to get it," I said.

"Could we maybe have a few minutes alone," the female asked.

"Of course," I said heading to the control room.

Leaning back in her chair Abby looked at me and said, "Cold and straight to the point, I think I'd rather have you as a doctor than most others."

"I doubt it, if I told you that you'd die in the next twenty four hours you'd hate me for it. Since they were in stasis though I'd say they've got less than twelve," I said grimly.

Sitting up and spinning the chair around to face me she said, "You've already told me I've got eternity like this. If you remember I didn't freak at all, doctors give your mind time to worry when they delay, your mind makes everything worse than it is."

"Yeah, that's true. We need to figure out a place to put them away from the rest, the disease was spread through sexual activities but it must have originated from their old attempted hyper-drive, it must have blown when they tried to activate it, space plague a common side effect with the older versions," I said.

Pressing a button on the dash she then said "They added the function for the med bay to be locked down and then vented, before you overreact I only locked it."

"Well I'm sure everyone else is fine, they might be in a bit of shock though," I said taking off my space suit, hearing the approach of nervous footsteps.

"So what exactly are you two," the bold human asked.

"Well I'm a dragon and she is a... you want to tell him your species dear," I asked.

"Well, I'm a bit of a 'husk' of my former self, but I'm a Blue tail skink, sometimes called a 5 line skink. Simple enough in theory to explain, but considering you're humans that may not be true," she said.

"Um, yeah I'm just going to go back to the crew quarters," the human said.

Grabbing him by the arm I said, "Look, we are dropping you off anonymously if they ask for a description tell them nothing."

"Oh, don't touch the red stuff, you may burn yourself," Abby said.

The human left and I asked, "If that's your hot sauce why is it in the space crew quarters?"

Looking slightly evasive she replied "I was working on something, and I had a sandwich, I noticed this morning I wasn't sure where my hot sauce was."

"What are you hiding," I asked.

"Well, it's a bit of a combination between a cloner and a genetic re-sequencer, I'm trying to recreate my scales, kinda having a problem with the balance, and somehow my hot sauce provides a genetic stabilizer, not entirely sure how that works."

"Hiding things from mom and dad already are we," I asked, "Do you think they'll like me?"

Laughing she replied "They'll love you, because so long as it's what I want they'll be happy. And I'm not trying to hide from them, but it will be rather hard to shop looking like a husk."

"Okay, well I doubt they'll like me, but I understand the reason for the scales. I think you are beautiful the way you are though and I'd like to see anyone raise a fuss while I'm around," I said as I leaned in to kiss her passionately on the neck.

Letting out a rather loud yelp she said "That was my muscle! That felt weird, but somehow good..." Grinning wickedly she led me along to our room while the ship auto-piloted to drop off the humans.

A few hours later...

"Wow, you still seem to surprise me that thing with the neat little trick you did with your tongue was awesome. So how was it for you," I asked.

Lying on my chest she replied "Okay, direct muscle stimulation feels amazing, that's even better than before."

"Well, want me to make some lunch," I offered.

Rolling off of me and sticking to the wall with her hands and feet as usual she said "Sure, surprise me."

I went into the kitchen and started making grilled maniskus with heavy gravy. I added just a hint of chems and I squeeze of lemon, with a pinch of pepper and a spoon full of salt. I was using one of the many recipes mom used to cook with while I improvised a little. Walking in Abby said "Something smells good, is it almost ready?"

"Almost just adding a few more things and let it cool for five minutes and it should be good," I said while adding a few more seasonings, "do me a favor and let the cargo know lunch is almost ready."

Walking out along the ceiling she hummed an odd song that I'm not familiar with. Five minutes later everyone had a plate and there was a decent sized portion for me left. I picked it up and scraped the rest of the food I could onto my plate. I then sat down and started eating. I then started hearing compliments about how good the food was. Hell these humans have good tastes. Then Abby sat in front of me.

Eating her food with the typical gusto she said, "It's a little bland, try using some irradiated onions next time."

"This recipe is a classic amongst my family," I said, slightly offended.

Speaking up one of the humans said "Uh, I'm not certain about whatever species you are but irradiated onions would kill us, humans have a low tolerance for it."

Glaring at the human she said "It's only irradiated while it's growing, and just because a recipe is classic doesn't mean it can't be changed depending on who is eating it!"

"Don't worry you'll be fine. I don't like your tone, and it's been like that for over four centuries," I said raising my voice.

Snorting she said "I would never use anything four centuries old, even if it is a family recipe, without adding a little something of my own, CHANGE is the spice of life, or my case, something akin to life!" she stood slowly and jumped onto the ceiling.

"I guess tradition matters little to you then doesn't it? Well you know what it matters to me, hell this tastes like fucking heaven after spending so long in that hell hole of a prison," I yelled, throwing her plate of food at her.

Pulling her gravity wrench out quickly she slowed the plate down and let it drop to the floor. Snarling she said "That was dangerous Damnit! We can't know how it would have bounced, you and I may have reactions to counter something moving that quickly but we both know that it was theorized that humans died because they have slow reaction speed."

"Like you fucking care about humans, hell they've been extinct for hundreds of years. The reason they died out was because of those people who used the nuclear weapons as a threat, in the end they died due to idiocy more than anything. I mean they were only as smart as the average bear from Amparos. No offense human and I don't think they would actually be badly hurt from it! Don't forget your reaction time is poor as hell to or you wouldn't be a fucking husk," I said.

Dropping from the ceiling she stalked over and stood right in front of me and said "If my reaction speed wasn't short of god damn amazing you would be dead, you couldn't have even begun to understand what it took to even get that door to close with the virus in the system!"

"A good pilot would have recognized a bug in the system right away. You just totally missed it till it was almost too fucking late. It told you it was there if it wouldn't have done that it would have killed us all anyway. So are you an idiot or are you slow," I asked.

Looking at me she said "Hand me your gun, the big one."

"Like hell I will! You know what I think it's best if we go our separate ways once we get there. It would be for the best," I said.

Grumbling she muttered in a just barely audible tone "fucking trust me, he's still alive..." Pulling her own gun she tweaked a few things on her gravity wrench until it was simply floating there, then she shot it once with her gun. "It's working just fucking perfectly right now, however," pulling out the power cell she accessed an inner panel and swapped a few wires around before putting it back together and tossing it to me. "It doesn't feel any different, in fact it will fire off exactly 3 shots before the feedback loop I put it in will blow it up, dispersing all of the energy in the power cell, which most people keep fully charged, back at the holder of the gun." Hoping on the ceiling she said "Maybe you're right, keep that as a souvenir and give it to someone you want to die inconspicuously" and with that she walked off in the direction of the engine room. Shouting she said "Go back to the hold humans!"

We didn't talk the rest of the time, I put my things in a crate Ted and I got off of the ship. Ted and I headed off in opposite directions, the humans followed Abby to the place she mentioned and I headed off to another part of the space port. Arranged for another flight back to Earth, and headed off to a local bar.

Over in the left hand corner there was a Welsh Corgi looking at me. She was wearing a tight bright red dress and nine inch bright red high heels. Her busty figure was complemented highly with the way she carried herself, she was drop dead gorgeous and boy did she know it. Her fur was a bright tan and with black reaching around to her front leading to her white belly. She had a tattoo just on the outside of her dress which was so low cut that if she bent over to far over you'd see her panties, the tattoo its self was a heart breaker symbol, a valentine heart with barbed wire around it. She noticed me looking and winked before headed my way.

Standing up she walked straight towards me, her hips moving side to side, her breasts perfectly molded against her dress, it was obvious she knew exactly what she wanted from this encounter thanks to the twin orbs. Her smile showed off her perfectly maintained fangs, and when she got to me she spoke in a smoky delicious voice that went straight to my groin, "Looking for a good evening, I'm verrry good at listening, among other more horizontal things."

"Well you are straight forward aren't you," I asked jokingly.

Stepping back a bit she teasingly dragged her hand over my crotch and licked her lips, grabbing me by my second head she shouted "Hey Ned, open my room for me darling." the barkeep simply shook his head and reached for a switch under the bar.

"Hold your horses missy, I might be primed and ready to go but I don't fuck total strangers, sit down and have a few beers with me," I said.

Looking a bit soured she sighed and said "Fine," before sitting on the stool next to me. Looking me in the eyes she said "You had an argument with your boyfriend or girlfriend," pausing for a second she said "sorry, both, naughty boy, now you aren't sure if you want to stay with them or find a new person, and you were considering sex to relieve your mind."

"I'm afraid you're wrong I swing only one way, I also would like to know how you know that to begin with," I said.

Tapping right beside her eyes she said "I made pheromone perception contacts, and there are different pheromones when you argue with guys and girls, not to mention the cloud of sex pheromones that has half the bar randy. You're the only one here with glands big enough to cause this much of an effect, anyway, no matter which way you swing you have both a boyfriend and a girlfriend, the term doesn't innately imply sex or love, just an emotional connection and wanting to protect them or be protected by them."

"You sound like my ex. She's really smart, insane almost. Enough about her though, what kind of guy do you like, the safe kind of the dangerous kind," I asked.

Laughing she said "Guys, girls, herms, I like sex, the point isn't a relationship, it's to live life to the fullest, and especially right now, I recently destroyed the only real competition I have in the market of dangerous fast transportation. Her own security protocols were her doom, I just had to disguise the virus as a minor security update and the ship ate it right up!"

"That sounds familiar," I said, "how about convicts? How do you feel about them?"

Grinning even wider, somehow that was possible, she said "I knew you looked familiar! Yeah, I love convicts, they haven't been around women in a long time so they tend to give more sexual satisfaction, counters their typical lack of funds."

"Well let me tell you something, I am not lacing in funds or physical stamina. Now the question is how you want me to prove it," I asked.

Pulling out an infinitesimally small device from between her cleavage she said "Swipe a cred on here, it checks the credit history, this will tell me if you're lying about the funds, as for the stamina, we'll just let you prove that in bed."

I swiped the card and said, "Check those out."

Her eyes widened to over twice the size they were and she said "You have some serious overhead at your disposal, where do you want the ship to go; we'll be there within 2 days no matter where it is."

"Thanks but I've already arranged a ship to take me where I need to go, however if you can make it worth my while I might be willing to change my plans," I said.

Raising an eyebrow she said "Worth your while huh, and do you have in mind what I do or something more?"

"Let's go find out shall we," I said.

Grinning she led the way, when we arrived at her room she said "Computer, analyze the last 100 listings, tell me the true owner of each company." Turning back to me she said "Now that I've dealt with that let's enjoy ourselves," she reached up and slowly unzipped the side of her dress before letting it fall to the floor.

A cycle later...

There was an insistent beeping coming from within the room, groaning I asked "What is that noise for?"

Waking up beside me she said "The computer finished the analysis of the companies and found an inconsistency. Computer, what's wrong?"

A bland technical voice came on and said "True owner of private flight company is Abigail, needs to die, Trusiun, last recorded payment was 2 days ago."

"Please tell me that isn't who you tried to kill," I said.

Glaring at me she growled, "Of course that's who I tried to kill, and it should have worked! There is no reason that she should have detected the override, the virus was to give her instruments no problem lights."

"It didn't," I said.

This seemed to enrage her for a second before she turned almost acidicly sweet and asked "Please explain how she managed to survive."

"Well it didn't signal it just crashed on Earth. I guess she stopped it somehow," I said worrying about telling her this.

Her face seemed to change drastically from any expression I had seen on it up to this point, revenge for some unknown slight seemed to be all that was on her mind, "Computer, lockdown sectors 34a through 39r," was all that she said and suddenly I seemed to be locked within a cage of light that I knew to be high energy lasers, "Computer, locate ship 'Lark' and plot fastest route and give me the omega override for the station on that dock when I arrive." and with that she turned and walked out the door, in a bathrobe. The moment she stepped through the doorway slits opened at the tops of each of the walls and slammed down, locking into place at each of the corners of the room. As soon as this had finished the laser field deactivated.

Great just like prison all over again, except this time with a bigger cell. With nothing to do I decided to get dressed and a laser pistol fell out of my pocket. The one that Abby gave me, thank god for her insane mind. Now just to figure out how thick this wall is, I punched the metal and not a damn thing. I am trapped here until she gets back and boy is she going to have a big problem on her hands.

Abby

Sitting in a booth with the veggie lover isn't exactly my typical idea of a good day, but this is an odd day, sighing I asked him "Why are men so damn stubborn."

"It's different for every man. Kahn, however, I would guess is more because of his long line of heritage, most dragons of a clan as proud of his deem everything their ancestors have done to be perfect in every way, my interactions with him would indicate that his upbringing would cause him to also believe this as so," he said.

Sitting for a couple seconds glaring at him I said "Be glad I can't shoot you on this station. But, maybe you're right, maybe I should talk to him after he's calmed down a little. Maybe I'll give those salads you have a chance, with a little lizard twist on them of course."

"Feel free, but I do have to admit I'm not a complete vegetarian. Meat does from time to time come across one of my cravings. I just didn't correct Khan because he looks like the kind of guy who'd kill you for that," he said.

Laughing I said "Yeah, then he'd probably cook you up with one of his family's recipes."

Looking at me strangely Ted said "Oh, please he's a crazy cook, and I've heard of his tastes. Not my cup of tea."

Shaking my head I said "No, I meant you would be the main meal."

"Oh, that's funny," he said.

Shaking my head I said "Sorry, poor humor," as the waiter came up I said "I'll have a lizard's delight salad with blue cheese and yarick sauce."

"Good choice," Ted said.

Listening to his order I said "I'm surprised, no remark about tossing the salad from exposure to heat?"

"What doesn't kill me makes me stronger," he said, "You are a perfect example in this case."

Laughing I said "Don't speak before you survive, the meal isn't through yet." As I said this, my pants started beeping at me, grabbing something out of my pocket I said "Someone just hacked the station to find where the ship is, stay here and get our food in bags." Standing up I pulled my Khan tracking device out of my pocket and said "Why the hell is Khan up on deck 36," before I ran out and started hijacking a lift over the ship network.

How long has it been, there are no damn clocks in this fucking place. I hate prison, I will make that little cunt sorry the day she locked my ass up I swear it! She was a great lay, but I think this cuts all that out of the picture. As the steel plates unlocked at the corners and slid back up into the ceiling I then heard someone coming towards the door, so I decided to stand on one side of the door.

As soon as it opened and a figure walked in far enough I sprang forward knocking her down to the floor and said, "You shouldn't have locked me up in here, bad move on your part I must say."

Growling Abby said "I come to save your giant ass, and this is the thanks I get, awesome, can you just get off me now?"

"Why do you want to save me," I asked getting up off of her.

Getting up and dusting herself off Abby said "Because, we were both being idiots, and I truly do love you, or are you unsure about the relationship."

"So what you saying I'm stupid on top of the fact I can't cook? What is it with you I mean you're all over the place, one minute you love me the next your insulting me," I said.

Glaring she said "Listen, you already could have fucking guessed I suck at apologies, now someone has hacked the station and is going towards the ship, I hijacked the lift they were using to give myself a little more time, do you want to help and stop them from probably destroying the ship your family just paid to have rebuilt, or do you want to stay here and find a new ship and captain." Turning around she walked out and headed in the direction of the lifts.

Following Abby I said, "She's a Welsh corgi, she seemed to know you pretty well. This got something to do with her, cause if it does count me in."

Whirling around she pulled a pic projector out and showed me a picture of her a few years younger with the corgi girl. "If it was this corgi then we have a problem, if she thinks it'll get rid of me she'll destroy the station."

"That's the bitch I'd recognize that look anywhere. She said she tried to kill you," I said.

Nodding and grabbing her digipad out while hacking the lift down the hall she said "She's the one that caused the core to overload before, she's the only person who can understand my programming style well enough to get past my security system."

"That's what she said. Shouldn't be too hard to spot her though, she left in a bath robe not to mention the fact that she might be getting sick somewhere," I said.

Hopping in the lift and closing the doors almost too quickly for me to get in she said "If she was drinking she's fine, the girl can hold her liquor, usually anyway."

"I'm not talking about liquor, more along the lines of...," I stopped.

Laughing she said "She can hold that too, you aren't the first dragon she's tricked."

"I don't think so I have a genetic disorder, it's rare but it happens, my stuff is usually a bit more acidic than others," I said.

Staring at me from the ceiling she said "I know I've kinda experienced your stuff, she ate my food every other day for the 3 years we were roommates, I wonder if that has anything to do with why she hates me."

"Alright but I say she must have got around three gallons of the shit and that could be harmful, but if she's like you... we'll just have to wait and see," I said.

Cringing she said "That can't be good for her stomach, way too much stuff."

"My thoughts exactly, plus the effect might be magnified, it doesn't affect reptilians so badly because we are closer in genetic make up, she's nowhere close to that," I said.

As the lift reached the bay that the Lark was in we saw the opposite lift doors open, with the bitch of a Corgi standing there, wiping something from her lips.

"Told you she'd be getting sick," I said.

Standing up fully she shouted "You're too late Abby, I already hacked the station and got the Omega purge protocol controls."

"Sounds serious, want me to kill her," I asked.

Shaking her head Abby pressed a button on her digipad and as the door to the ship opened she shouted "Quickly, get on the ship, we'll get Ted after we re-dock!" and broke into a dead sprint faster than I had seen her run before.

I followed her into the ship, and yelled, "What's the plan."

Hitting the emergency gravity release and the rapid door seal she gripped the floor with the pads on her feet and said "Brace yourself, the Omega release protocol is designed for doing severe damage to a ship while ejecting it from the station, I've had to survive it before a couple times, stay centered in midair or you will suffer heavy physical trauma when the ejection happens, make your way down to the armory and activate the emergency door seal from inside so that you can release it when I tell you to."

"Alright I'll be in there then," I said.

As soon as I said that objects were floating in the air. I kept pushing heavy objects out of my way. By the time I finally go into the armory I knew that time was running out. The armory was barely filled with weapons and there were many hidden compartments. I then heard a metal screeching that sounded like it was going to destroy my ears. It only lasted a couple of seconds then I suddenly flew towards the ceiling and I lost all of the wind I had in my lungs upon impact.

I heard the comm. crackling and Abby asked "How hard did you hit, the ship is in one piece still but I heard the vibrations"

"Hell if I know but I suspect you might have a dragon sized dent in the ceiling," I said.

She responded with "Yeah, you need to unseal the armory and get to the gun turret, apparently she has allies since there is a ship chasing us."

"Will do, those bastards won't know what hit them," I said.

I pressed the button to unseal the armory before heading down the hall and activating the gunner's seat. Feeling the shallow impact of a shot I sat down in the seat. This would be one hell of a show. I found the object I was looking for, it was a small ship, probably a merchant ship discreetly filled with mercenaries. I fired a glancing blow along the side of the bow of their ship. A fair warning shot I figured. They responded with a shot of their own, it stuck upon the side the ship. There was a violent tremor afterwards.

"Abby, get me the ship schematics, looks to be a merchant ship, freighter class," I said.

Complying she sent over the most likely schematics and said "I don't really care who or what they are, they're shooting at us with a gun I could park in."

"Don't worry, we may be small, but my family has above military grade weaponry installed on each ship. They aren't going to know what hit them," I said with bravado.

"Let's hope your bite is as big as your bark," she replied while banking sharply enough to feel the pressure even with the inertial dampeners and no gravity but it gave me a perfect shot at the ship's underbelly.

"Ok, let's see..." I said aloud to myself. I found what I was looking for, a ship that size has to have a backup generator. I fired about fifteen rounds. The resulting explosions ripped through the hull with ease, I knew I had destroyed the backup generator. I then took aim at the main drive core; the shielding on it would be heavier but still not enough. I fired the same amount though to thoroughly destroy it, most of the rear end of the ship was gone from the explosion. I then decided to send them off with a bang. I fired at where the hydrogen power cells for the oxy-generation unit should, hydrogen power cells are highly volatile fuel source that most modern ships use, and the resulting explosion was a small supernova.

"That takes care of one problem," I said.

Doing a solid 180 turn she landed in an open docking bay and said over the comm. "I'm going to go get that bitch arrested, come along if you like, I already uploaded all the data I need to my digipad."

"Yeah, thanks. I didn't just save our asses. I'll be there in a minute," I said.

As soon as I got off the ship I felt Abby give me a kiss on my cheek and she said "Thank you for manning the turret," and then jumped down and ran to the hallway door.

"No problem. Now let's go get that bitch," I said.

As we arrived at the station security room she pulled her digipad and said "A resident of this station has tried to kill me twice now, first by blowing up my ship, and this time by hijacking your station and using the omega security protocol on my ship and paying someone to destroy my ship with their cannon of a gun."

"That's a very serious claim missy, you have some sort of evidence," the gruff security guard asked.

Nodding she pulled up the details of the original ship explosion, showed them the video that the bitch had left her, showed the station logs that an unauthorized Omega protocol had been activated, and showed the recording she had grabbed from the ship's external monitors, proving that the other ship had fired first.

"Looks solid to me, but we have to bring her in first," he said.

Pressing a few keys on her digipad Abby held it up and said "She is currently trapped in what she thought was an elevator but actually is a prison cell that is linked to the security station on deck 14."

"Alright I'll send someone to handle it, though I might need you two to stay for a few hours," he said.

Climbing the wall and sitting half way up it with her heels stuck to it Abby said "So Khan, while I wait would you mind going to the restaurant and getting my salad, oh, and ted is still there broke last I remember."

"He didn't head home," I asked.

Shrugging Abby said "Well like I said, he's broke, so he can't leave until one of us comes and pays for my salad."

"Ok, I'll go get it and him. Stay there, we still need to talk," I said.

Leaving without her being able to respond I headed towards one of the dives in the station. Sure enough there was Ted, sitting with a salad across from him. And the thing he had probably been eyeing for a while. I walked in grabbed the bill and walked to the register. Handed them a few credits I grabbed the salad and grabbed Ted by the scruff of his neck. It took me a few minutes to get back but I was glad when I did.

"Sit," I told Ted pushing him into a chair.

Looking at Ted sitting on the floor then up at Khan Abby asked "Can I eat my salad before the conversation?"

"Go ahead," I said.

Taking it from me Abby slowly ate the salad, grimacing half the time while eating it, "Seriously Ted, you need to get some better taste in food, even with hot sauce this is pretty terrible, way too bland." Finishing it off she tossed the container towards the trash vent but when it looked like it was going to fall short she pulled out her gravity wrench and whipped it quickly which caused it to launch a disc of compressed gravity for some reason, the container landed on it and flew the couple inches into the trash. Rubbing her stomach Abby dropped from the wall onto the floor and said "So, we need to have a discussion obviously."

"We don't have a healthy relationship," I said.

Frowning Abby said "I died, you ridiculed me for dying in the process of saving your lives. I was rather irritated when we found those humans honestly, they were in stasis and suffered no ill effects, a race like them achived true and proper stasis while we still haven't. I was rash and in a foul mood before, what else would you like to discuss," her tone was even and mostly emotionless.

"We aren't done here. It seems as if though our relationship is based on sex and food. I know hardly anything about you while you know a lot about who I am. I care for you but I don't know you and that's unsettling. We need to work on our communication skills," I said.

Sighing Abby said "I'm not big on sharing my history considering I don't even know all of it, you know most of what I do, I don't know my true parents or any of my heritage."

"There might be a way to find out," I said.
