Chapter One: Sudden Awareness
Nessus gasped for air as he rose from a water filled tank and his first instinct was to reach for his neck, shocked it was still there and not severed, which he found strange since not to long ago, or whenever time it was, Nessus had been killed while on a mission with his comrads to an Ancient Forerunner tower that housed an A.I. Nessus' head had been severed and he had been thrown out a window....so how was he still alive?
"Oh good, your finally awake." Said an unknown female voice, clearly human to Nessus.
"Why am I here de...." Nessus stopped before he continued, remembering the war was long over and that in fact he had been with his comrads who had the habit of finding humans to take aboard her ship. "Why am I here human?" Nessus finally said, now calm.
"Your here because I found you by chance while following the location of my Daughter Elliot and her clone, Athena....or atleast the augmented blood was cloned, otherwise Athena is a clone of my other daughter of the same name...strange I'm telling a Sengheili like you all this....but that all doesn't matter, what does matter is that you've been esentially reborn again into this world after what happened to you."
Nessus felt his neck and the memory of a Forerunner blade cutting through flesh and bone followed by a sudden loss of air before realising what had happened. "Okay, so if you did revive me....why did you?" He asked.
"I'm not sure exactly, It could be my weakness to help the dead or dieing....my daughter Athena was born with an illness that forced me to put her into a cryo gel filled tank while cloning her to get a clones blood that was pure of the disease....but no such luck has occured....yet."
Nessus was somewhat confused but also understood, remembering a Skirmisher who was abused by his former owner who even though died, the Skirmisher had shielded the dead Elite with his own frail, beaten body....luckilly the little guy was still alive when Nessus found him and has now since been his adopted son....which to some Sengheili was dishonorable, but he neither gave a damn nor wished to follow the honor code of the others...he had joined the Covenant to get away from his parents constant calling of his dead brother Nike, who died during the war, but not in there parents eyes...oh no, the twin brother Nessus would be the new Nike in there delusions that he was still alive.
"T...thank you I guess and I am truelly sorry to hear about your kin, may the...whoever is watching us....grace the child with mercy.'
The female chuckled softly, "Hehe, funny, you kind of sound like me a little bit with the whole religion thing, me being somewhat of a religious person but not bound by just one religion. The name's Cassandra, Cassandra Von Thrice and mother of someone you've met by the name of Elly Nos Salva...a Spartan 2.5....which I regret my own daughter had to be put into because of some bastard wanting to prove that if this group works for the ONI spooks, then they would surely let him make his Spartan III's...."
Nessus remembered the Female Spartan a little bit from a past experience with her during an assasination atempt on his comrads life for an apparent slaying of her brother on one of the old Human colonies....And Nessus remembered that Elly had such fighting spirit and could take hits like a true warrior...or what he thought to be a warrior since he didn't give a damn about the Covenant "rules and religion.
Cassandra continued, "Anyways...what I wanted to say before I was distracted was that I have purpose for you if your willing to take the offer...but knowing your kind you'd probably just kill yourself since your so honor bound and do get pissed about being revived and such...."
"You mistake me for other Sengheili then because I didn't join the Covenant army for any of them, I joined to finally escape my family, whome they kept calling me by my long deceased brothers name."
"Ah, then I do appologize, so does that mean you'll be willing to listen to what I have to say?" A hint of happines on her voice.
"Yes, I am willing to listen." Nessus responded.
