Prelude 2

As Sar and his fleet of ships reached the station orbiting the planet Kar, they noticed the lack of traffic that there usually was. Sar thinking nothing of it sent a docking request via the ship's COM system to the station and awaited a reply. However he didn't get one and sent another request thinking the first one didn't send properly. As he awaited a response from the station, the opened a COM channel to his fleet.

"Orbit the station, 20 kilometers" he barked in his deep bass ton normal for a brown bear of 875 pounds. He was big, and admitingly not all of it was muscle. Over his years of service for the USEP (United Space Exploration and Protection) which was part of a vast government controlled military program coined the UWPA (United Worlds Protection Agency), he had become a bit overweight. While this was acceptable within certain ranges, his high rank of Command Sergeant Major and his service record unofficially allowed him to bend the rules a little bit. He was careful not to bend them to much in the fear that the high-ups might eventually get on to him about it.

As the fleet split in different directions to orbit the station, he finally got what seemed to be a dignified response from the station's A.I. as well as a preprogrammed apology for the delay, which was of course made for all general purpose delays making it feel less real then it already was.

Just as Sar was about to discard the message, he noticed that a piece of information was missing from the message's footnote. He decided that he should read the whole note again making sure that it was not just an oversight on his end.

"We would like to take this time to apologize to you for the delay that you have received. Please not that this delay was not a purposeful act and we fully understand your frustration. This delay was caused by [S.Ai-0100.26KE FAULT]. We would like the inform you that your [DOCKING REQUEST-Military Class] has been accepted. You may now enter the station and park at zone [13-2]. We hope you enjoy your stay at the Kar Prison Center"

Sar Noticed that at the footnote the A.I. did not state its identity. The fact that it translated into "Station A.I. with an unknown identity and didn't know what version or where it was stationed" scared Sar.

Just as he was about to tell his fleet about the received COM, his ships system alerted him to targeting scanners locking down all the members of the fleet including him. Then with no warning, all the Stations Sentry Guns opened fire on their ships.

Within seconds Nineo's ship was obliterated and left nothing but debris floating around at 100Mps. There was no chance for his ship to survive the attack without to full output of the main engine drive. Station Sentry Gun in a prison base were strong, but they lacked tracking speed so a fast ship going over 500Mps could effectively out maneuver their aiming vector and never get hit. For that, they had short range tactical EMP F.O.F. (Friend or Foe) assault missiles which could and would track any ship that wasn't programmed into its data-core to ignore and hit it every time.

As Sar smashed open a COM channel to tell everyone to warp, he was pelted with a Salvo of the EMP missiles which although didn't penetrate his shields, did manage to short out various system including the COM and targeting scats with the explosions they created.

Unable to tell his fleet members to warp and his fleet unable to outmaneuver or outgun the station defenses, there was not much he could do besides sit and watch as Lorin's ship was pelted with neutron blasters which effectively ripped apart her ship and threw her into the dark spiraling out of control. Sar knew that he should do something to help them, something to get his remaining members out safe, however he also knew that the attempt would be futile. Their ships were strong, fast, and nimble, but they weren't able to react to so much heavy damage in a short amount of time.

Sar could tell that the station was still locked on to his ship, but for the moment it didn't seem to be paying any attention to him. He could only assume that it had though he was dead, or no longer a threat. That gave him idea, although stupid and insane as it was, he knew it was the only chance to try to save the rest of his fleet.

Sar reignited the drive of his ship and aligned towards the station on a parallel trajectory. Pushing his ship past the recommended maximum speed of 600Mps, he flew past his fleet as well as some of the stations Missile Turrets. He was effectively producing a chance for his fleet to get away by drawing the station full attention, and it was working. He sensors showed that most of the stations turrets were focused on him, and that his fleet were preparing for a warp out.

Seeing a small asteroid field in front of him, he dove his ship inside at a speed which maneuvering was more the limited if not suicidal. He weaved between the floating rocks loosing the tracking missiles and knowing that none of the blasters were able to shot inside of it. He was proud of himself for living and coming out without a scratch for such a reckless course of action.

However his pride did not last long. Just as he was coming out of the other side of the field, his sensors topped out as a massive radioactive explosion took place behind him, exactly on top of his fleet. Shocked and unable to do anything but retreat into his mind asking himself why he didn't save them, his ship could do nothing but blare alarms to the oncoming shockwave. He knew he could not outrun it, and in all honesty he didn't even feel like it. He could not help but think he was responsible for all their deaths, all their pointless obliteration.

As the shockwave hit his ship he was knocked unconscious and tossed into the black abyss, blue grey energy sparking around the ship in a mystical pattern trying to reconnect itself to form the shield. Pieces of amber and blue metal plates sheared from the ships to be floating for eternity, and a lonely body to be free floating on the pieces that still held together.

Noting that the mission was failed, and the captain unconscious or dead, all the remaining pieces of the ship could do was to simply extend and aim it's simple unpowered yet still functional emergency satellite dish towards Kelinen, and hope that someone would come and save it. After all not only was it military property, it also recorded the events that transpired.
