Anxious: a poem
A poem about being anxious, I did this in a warm up for school and liked how it turned out...
Anxious
Before success, before bliss, before a job well done.
It is there.
Before the verdict, before the letter, before the phone call
It is there.
Everyone has felt it's hands, wrapping around your neck.
The cringe of its nails in your skin
Or the jumping at the slightest sound around the corner.
None are exempt from its pull, some buckle in its presence.
But,
If you can beat it's callings and it's pulls.
Push it down and go on stage.
The walls will fall like Jericho
And the trumpets will awake in triumph.
Only for it to be replaced the next time.
