Lost little kitty Chapter 6

When Arean came too she felt groggy and the world seamed flat. It took her a moment to realise that there were no smells around her, none at all. It was worse than the hospitals where smells were treated as evil and gotten rid of because even at a hospital you could at least smell the people in the hospital. Coming too in a room she looked around herself with concern, the place didn't look clean. It was tidy, that much was true but there was dust on the floor and a lot of the furniture. She was in a bed, with a blue chetwool blanket draped over her... ... "What the?" she looked under the blanket and turned beat red, she was naked! "Oh no, oh no oh no!" she began panicking, trying to wrap the blanket around her and get to her feet rather unsteadily. Her tailbone was hurting, she hoped it was only cause of how she'd slept but wasn't sp naive as to think five stronger older boys had left her untouched, especially with how they'd been treating her just prior to passing out. She could remember it through a haze; the spankings had brought her to solid attention despite whatever they'd plied her with. Her head was throbbing now but she could remember the hands, grabbing and touching in places they shouldn't. They didn't appear to be here, but she couldn't tell. With her smell messed up they could be sitting or lying quietly and she wouldn't necessarily know.

Something moved! Arean screamed!

"Now, now, now, stop that, I'm not going to hurt you little one!" a figure raised itself out of a comfy-chair over by the wall like a ghost; she hadn't smelt her and that meant she didn't identify her. Screaming and running to the door a larger figure bore down on Arean and wrapped its arms around her, cooing as Arean struggled and screamed. "I'm not going to hurt you. Those boys aren't here, Great Lady, at least now you're acting aware of the risks! Had I not been nearby to, well..." The lioness held Arean gently, keeping her there in a firm but gentle hug. "Its okay, you're safe. You're safe!"

Crying, confused, and half blind from the deadened smell Arean slowly but gradually stopped struggling, and just whimpered. Her captor didn't let her go though, just drew her over to the chair and sat her in it. Arean cried.

"I understand your fear after what happened to you. This is a bad area and I wont pretend it isn't." the figure moved about the simple one-room flat and began boiling a kettle. "I'll make you something to help with the hangover!" she said, putting a single leaf of Carnima, the drug she had been plied with the day before in a pot with some herbs and plants that were more medicinal. "The area of town you are in is known as Telimara!" the female said. "It's a kind of backwater penni system. The area has about 900 thousand people in it, and the cops have a big struggle here. The pennies are actually the safest people to be around because they monitor themselves and the system around them is tough but there are gangs out there. Rejuve gangs, children age 8 to 18 who are good at being violent. You need to watch yourself!"

Sniffing, Arean nodded. The girl looking after her, she was certain it was a girl now, didn't look that old herself. It seamed the city was a very different place to the suburbs and looking at the girl's hands she confirmed - the mark of a voluntaris. Those boys had been voluntaris... Thinking over what happened, Arean silently checked her-self over. "They didn't penetrate you!" came a reply from her observant protector. "Least I don't think so." "Why am I naked?" The lioness looked at Arean with her meek question and brought her a cup of tea.

"Drink this; it will take the edge off your hangover. Your sense of smell will recover in time - Carnima does that. It makes your nose stop working and your ears go overactive." Arean nodded. "You're naked because the boys took your bag, so I had to wash your clothes if you wanted something to wear." she replied. "I didn't do anything indecent with you but don't go assuming I didn't think about it! A Kindern in this neighbourhood would be a treat for a lot of people. A LOT of them if your lucky would just get an inch to spank the daylights out of you but there are those who would pay good money to spend quality time with you!" she insists.

Arean sniffed and took a sip of her drink, the lioness taking a seat on her bed. "Where are your parents?" she asked. "Are they in town for some reason or are you another runaway?" "Another?" "We get a lot of runaways!" Arean replied. "Mostly voluntaris who think they can survive without parents just because they've lived a life already! I'm sort of one myself, I did a voluntary rejuve but couldn't afford to organise a mum or dad, so I had a friend pretend he was going to be my dad, got rejuve then came here." Arean snorted, so even rejuves got jack of being a child.

"You can't stay here you know." Arean drank her tea in silence. "The best thing to do is go home, I have some money and can put you on a bus, you can go home, treat this as a little adventure, say that you learned your lesson and go back to a family who love you." A growl rose in the back of Arean's throat as she listened to the lioness talking. "I can't go back, I won't. They don't care about me there; I'm the little no-good, no-talent Kindern who can't do anything right in their eyes! They probably haven't even noticed I'm missing yet!" she declared. "Are you so sure of that?" "Yes. Yes I am!"

Sighing and getting up the lioness frowned. "You can't stay here. Even if I was willing to take on a little girl I'm older and I don't get the kind of money I used to. I couldn't afford to support and feed another mouth." She bends over and looks at Arean. "I won't always be here to protect you. You were just lucky I was meeting with Uncle Missel close bye and saw what was happening. I strongly suggest you go home!"

The lioness went over to a clothes rack and pulled Arean's clothes off it, tossing them to the little kitten on her chair. "I have to go meet a client!" she comments. "You won't survive here without somebody to look after you." Arean is hunting around and eventually come up with a Caller, actually not just one - two.

"Your earlier caller is gone!" she said, "Along with anything you had in that bag!" "Great Lady, oooh, Aunties Collar!" the kitten wails. "I was going to try and sell that for some cash!" "Well you've got cash!" the lioness tosses Arean one of her callers. "That's an old one, it has some credit left on it - enough for a few phone calls and for a bus ride out of town easily!" she said. Prising herself up lioness waved a hand at Arean. "Get dressed, go."

And that was it. Ignored from that point forwards Arean silently but quickly finished her tea, the lioness had been right and it had helped with the headache. Dressing as lioness dressed and prettied herself up in what looked like a school uniform Arean pulled on her clothes, picked up the caller and left. "Thankyou, miss." she called back, completely ignored.

It was the biggest turndown she'd had, to come all the way to the city to have nobody talk to her, loose all her possessions and not make a single friend. Even the girl who just saved her had simply treated her as a charity case. Arean frowned and growled, banging the back of her head against the wall - she had nothing bar the clothes on her back and she'd been lucky she hadn't lost those and worse last night but she didn't want to go back. If she went back she would have to fess up, have to confess to being a failure! Couldn't even run away without nearly getting herself raped and left for dead!

That was when she spied the lioness girl leaving the building, she was on hover shoes, allowing her to skate across the sidewalks but she wasn't necessarily that fast - only using the skates to conserve energy. Gulping, Arean followed her down the walkway, running to keep up and wishing she had a similar style of shoe, not that she could afford them.

Lioness led the way around a series of buildings in towards the more populated living districts. That was the way it was for a lot of places. She was supposed to meet Missal near the school at that crazy restaurant, she was unaware of the girl tailing her and greeted her 'Uncle' enthusiastically, hugging him and rubbing her face against the older man's chest. Arean watched from around the corner, the one thing that was good about the round design houses used in the city was there was no such thing as a straight line; the bad thing was that there was no corners to hide around. Gathering her courage Arean stepped out from against the wall and stalked over to the girl and older man waving. "Hey, Hello! Fancy seeing you here!" Lioness looked at the approaching girl, immediately covered her face, flattened her ears and groaned. "Oh no!" she turns back. "You idiot, you Followed me! Why - you have the money to leave! You have no idea what you just did?" The older man was looking at Arean disconcertingly. "Are you going to introduce me?" "I don't know her name, she doesn't belong here!" "Oh really!"

Arean steps forward. "My names Arean!" she said, "I know cause she mentioned at her flat, you must be her Uncle!" she holds out her hands revealing the 'K' symbols. "Your niece helped me out when I got jumped by a group of over-horny street cats yesterday, when she said she had an uncle here I thought I'd come say hello." The lioness swivelled in her chair and faced down the little Kindern with fury. "I told you to go home; this city isn't safe, not for a Kindern. If you stay in this city and anyone notices those K's you're going to get in a world of trouble!" "If she wants to stay I could arrange a way for her to hide those!" Missal put in helpfully. "Missal, no!" Arean hissed. "She's a Kindern. She shouldn't be invol -" "Oh my!" another voice interrupted. Hello, Hello, are these my Daughters?" a middle-aged looking cat with clean fur and wearing a business uniform manifested next to where the trio were gathered. "My but the other one is younger!" he leans over and whispers to Missal. "I was only expecting one; if the other one isn't waiting on a client can I have her two, still for four hours!" Missal was grinning widely.

"Missal no!" the lioness was still hissing. "She's a Kindern!" "Oh is she now!" the businessman was grinning. That's rare!" Missal replies back quietly - "If you spent time with her it would be nearly three times as much, you know. Depends on how involved she is in events!" Lioness was covering her face with her hands, her ears and tail twitching with anger. "I don't get it." Arean was looking at the adults. "Lioness, is that your dad or not?" "At least for the next for hours!" he replied, reaching out to the 16yo, "Give me a hug, Lioness!" "It's Cassier, and -" "Let me handle this!" Missal got up and gently took Arean by the shoulders. "Come with me little one, I have a deal to make with you."

Drawing Arean to one side Missal was talking quickly and quietly. "Arean, was it hun. I'll be up front and honest. I run a kind of, rental agency. The idea of this agency is that children, particularly those who have nowhere to stay and nobody to support them become my charges. It's an agreement. I look after them, I find them a place to live, help pay for food and living expenses and pay you a percentage of the earnings." "Okay." Arean replied, trying to make sense of this, "Kind of like sponsorship!" "Very much like sponsorship. In return though those I sponsor have to do something for me. Customers, Clients more like come to me and Rent the children I sponsor for a period of time. During that time you're supposed to pretend to be their child, do everything they say and give them a good father-child experience!" Arean blinked and stared at the man open-mouthed.

"I am not an idiot!" she declares, "Your a, a ..." she hesitates and looks over to where Cassier is sitting at the table and acting all lovey-dovey with the strange man. "You're talking like Escorts!" Arean finally says, "Prostitutes!" "That is a harsh word!" Missal replies. "But can you survive here without a sponsor?" Arean frowned and glared at the man.

"Look, you do not have to have sex with him, I wont ask you do that!" he said truthfully. "But if you agree to go with him and do everything he asks and act like a good daughter, I will pay you one thousand credits!" Arean stared at the man. "And next time it may be more, as much as two thousand once you know how to play the role correctly!"

Turning around Arean held her breath. "You're a Kindern!" the older cat explained. "I'm sure you're already aware, a Kindern in a Penni neighbourhood is a novelty! There will be clients who would pay hundreds just to have dinner with you and hear you call them 'Dad' or 'Mum'. A Kindern, 10 years old -" "Twelve." Arean interjected. "You look ten; we can tell them you're ten! You could make a lot of money young lady!"

Missal watched the little black cat carefully. She had smooth shiny fur, an immaculate coat! Not like a lot of the street cats he'd picked up in the past, parentless children caught parasites and go patchy fur but this one was fresh. He wouldn't have to put any money down up front to clean her up - and she had walked right up to him. It was like Manna from heaven. "What do you say?"
