#10 of Clinging Onto a Hope of Happiness

You know, it's funny what you can come up with when you're sitting on a bus for five and a half hours.

"Thanks for treating Bubba and Fara," Lucky said to the nurse. Lucky turned around and looked upon her set of four pokemon. "Alright," Lucky said, putting her hands to her hips. "We ready to go?"

Fara nodded, as did the rest of the team. Lucky started bringing everyone to their pokeballs, one by one. First Bubba, then Skeln, then Ches. Fara was the last one left outside of her pokeball.

"You told me you hated them, so I won't make you sit in them,"Lucky said, to Fara's surprise. Fara's respect for Lucky skyrocketed at that moment.

They walked off through Solaceon to the north.

"If you're going to Veilstone, I would suggest waiting a week or two in Solaceon before going," the lady at the information counter called. Fara looked at all the monitors on the walls. Lucky told her to wait where she was,

and walked off into the bathroom. After a moment, she came back. She was in the Team Galactic costume.

"We'll be on our way, Fara," she said. "Don't forget what we're doing here."

As they walked across route 210, they saw many members of Team Galactic roaming around. Some were carrying heavy looking electrical items, while others were sparring.

Fara got excited as she saw all of the Team Galactic members all around. She couldn't wait to have her revenge on the one that broke her heart.

Lucky and Fara walked freely across route 210. For once in Fara's life, she was taking the easy way. When they reached route 215, turning for Veilstone, Fara overheard a grunt boasting.

"Nobody around here is stronger than I am!" The grunt said. They both laughed as Lucky passed by.

Fara hissed at them.

"You there! Girl! Your house cat just challenged me to a battle!" He shouted.

House cat? Fara was pissed off at those words. She continued to hiss, causing Lucky to kneel down and hug her.

"Fara, calm down," she whispered. "We don't want to cause a scene." Lucky stood up.

"I apologize for my pokemon's behavior. Please excuse us," Lucky turned and started her first couple of steps, only to be blocked by the arm of the grunt.

"You won't be getting away without a battle. I'm bored anyways," He said.

Lucky giggled. "You really want me to send you off to the pokemon center, don't you?"

***A few zubat later***

Fara licked her paw as the fourth zubat fell to the ground. The grunts were no match for her. They weren't even a match for a ten year old trainer with no experience. Fara didn't want to fight these stupid grunts, she just wanted to skip to the part where she could have revenge.

Lucky shrugged. "You should call it quits while you still can."

Fara yawned and rubbed herself up against her trainer's legs.

"It's not over yet," he said. "Go zubat!"

Lucky took a moment to hit her palm agaisnt her face. "Come on Fara, let's go. He's not worth our time." She and Fara walked away.

"She forfeited, so i win! See, there's no trainer stronger than I," He boasted towards his sparring partner.

"You're pathetic," the other grunt said, and he walked off, too, leaving him all alone.

"Fara," Lucky started. "If you don't get us into any more trouble, when we get to Veilstone, I'll buy all the razz you can eat."

Fara excitedly nodded, her mouth drooling at the thought of razz piled in front of her.

~Rumble~

"Shouldn't have mentioned the food," Lucky said, laughing.

She let out her pokemon. She took out a fold up grill and started grilling some sitrus, which they munched and crunched on until there wasn't any left. Fara, instead of talking about how full she was, decided she would take a walk and watch the sun go under its covers.

After a moment, Fara sat down.

"Just because she's involved with Team Galactic doesn't mean she's a bad trainer," a voice from behind said. Fara wasn't shocked that she was followed.

"That's not what I'm worried about, Ches. I'm thinking more about... my old owners," Fara said, turning to face Ches. Ches walked over to sit beside her. "My old trainer..." Fara started. "I think her father was part of Team Galactic. He was the one that hatched me..."

"You had a bond with a man from Team Galactic?" Ches asked.

"I didn't know him as a man from Team Galactic. He was really kind, and he only worked for the money," Fara said. "He was so kind, in fact... he spoiled his daughter. She got everything she ever wanted, including me. I hate him for leaving me in her care."

"I see," Ches said. "All I want to know is what happened between the time you ran away and the time we found you," she explained.

"I'm not going to tell," Fara said.

"Alright, but if you ever change your mind, I'm ready to listen," Ches said. "And I like a good story." She walked off to leave Fara alone.

Why do they all want to know? Nothing happened that should concern them... Then she noticed what they all wanted to know.

Mercury! For all the time she sat there, watching the sun lower and the moon rise, she wanted to hit herself for not realizing it sooner.

Fara and Lucky continued on their way through route 215. The team Galactic grunts were letting up. As there weren't as many as before, they didn't have to worry as much about getting into trouble. Nothing much interesting happened on the way to Veilstone from here.

Fara was ecstatic to see a city that was even bigger than Jubilife. There were people gambling at the game corner, people shopping at the supermart. But more importantly, team Galactic residing in the old warehouse.

They first walked off to the supermarket and bought plenty of supplies for future trips. Fara stared at all of the razz in the shopping kart. "That much?" She asked.

"When I promise something, I keep it," Lucky said.

"Oh," Fara said. "Then where are we going after we're done here in Veilstone?"

"Until the boss tells us, I don't know. Let's not worry about the future until we know how to get there first."

"That's a good philosophy," Fara said. After lucky had checked out all of the various supplies that they picked up around the mart, the team left off to the warehouse.

There was something about this old warehouse that bothered Fara, but she couldn't quite lay a paw on it.

"Welcome back to the base," the grunt from the front said. Lucky nodded and contnued in.

She turned on the chip, hidden behind her golden locks on her ear.

"Agent 7 reporting," she said. "I'm in."

She lowered her hat to cover her face better as they passed a few grunts. Fara walked, looking at the floor and her trainer's legs.

*Flashback*

The door to the cabin burst open.

"We know you've been spying on us!" Jupiter, a commander from team Galactic barged in. She found Georgia's mother in the living room. Georgia's mother happened to be Fara's favorite person in the whole world. She pet Fara gently as Jupiter approached.

"Where is he!?" Jupiter demanded.

"I won't tell you, commander of Team Galactic."

"Even if I..." Jupiter started, pulling a knife from the sheath on her belt. "...held this to your neck?" Jupiter moved the knife up to her throat.

"You would kill me anyways!" She spat in Jupiter's face. She threw Fara from her lap, who got the message and ran away.

When she turned back to look at what had happened to Georgia's mother, she was seeing flashes of red.

Lucky and Fara crept around the walls of the warehouse. Lucky would say something every now and then to the device in her ear. Everything she said was in a language of numbers that Fara didn't understand.

"Here it is, Fara," Lucky said. Her face was very serious. Fara nodded, and Lucky kicked open the door.

"Jupiter!" Lucky shouted.

Jupiter stood up from her chair. "What is it that you need from Jupiter, grunt?"

Lucky started to rip off the ugly team Galactic garments, which revealed her GLA badge. "You're under arrest."

"What for?" Jupiter asked. "I've done absolutely nothing wrong."

"She's lying," Fara hissed. "She killed the love of my former life."

"Their name, Fara?"

"Ami, she was my trainer's mother. She was so kind to me. Everything was going just fine until she... SHE!!"

"I see," Lucky said.

"You talk to your tools?" Jupiter laughed. "Well, I'm not going down without a fight! Go murkrow!" Jupiter sent out her first pokemon.

"I didn't want it to be hard, but if this is how you wanna play," Lucky said, pulling out her first pokemon. "Go, Ches!"

Ches took form in front of them, facing the murkrow. A battle had started.

"Ches, thunderbolt!' Lucky shouted. Ches fired a thunderbolt in the murkrow's direction.

"Dodge, murkrow!" he murkrow dodged to the left. "Dark pulse!" Jupiter shouted.

The dark pulse from the murkrow knocked the papers from the table around, then hit Ches. She easily shook it off, though.

"Thunder wave!" Lucky shouted. Ches let out a paralyzing thunder wave, devastating the movement of the murkrow.

Jupiter returned her murkrow. "Go, purugly!" The purugly took form in front of Ches. "Body slam!" she shouted. As the purugly slammed into Ches, she let out a sigh of pain.

"Ches, come back!" Lucky said, returning her to her pokeball. "Go, Skeln! Flamethrower!" Lucky shouted.

Skeln took form and instantly fired a flamethrower towards the purugly. It yelped in pain from being consumed by the flames.

"Ugh," Jupiter mumbled. Jupiter took in a good view of the room. "I didn't want it to come down to this, but..." She pulled a small pellet from her belt. She threw it to the ground as hard as she could, and instantly, smoke appeared everywhere in the office. Lucky covered her face and coughed from inhaling the smoke, and when the smoke was gone, so was Jupiter.

'Surround the perimeter. Immediately," Lucky said to the chip in her ear.
