Crescendo just couldn't take it anymore. He fell to his knees, feeling the smooth desert sand in between his fingers. He coughed a couple of times, which hurt his throat because of how dry it was. Flopping over onto his back, he reached for his water bottle and desperately took a few sips from his remaining water. He was trying to make it last, but it was going to be hard at this rate. He needed to find a source of water, and fast.

"I can't stay here." he told himself, feeling the softness of the sand already beginning to ease his weary body into a comforting, resting position. Forcing himself to stand up, he once again began to trudge on the same pass, dragging his boots a bit. He was wearing a slightly tattered, beige cloak, with a lightweight, and equally worn, beige scarf that covered most of his face except for his storm-grey eyes. The slight breeze made the small desert owl's feather in the rim of his cowboy hat sway a little. Bringing his eyes up to the horizon, Crescendo suddenly gasped, surprised by what he saw. It seemed like a small house with a rounded roof. The sand seemed to blow over the perfectly aerodynamic house. It had a small entrance, and no windows.

Every step seemed like a mile, and every second felt like a year. For every step that he took forward, it felt as if the shifting sands pushed him back two. His heart was pounding from the heat, aching in his chest. After what seemed like an eternity, he was at the door. "This can't be a mirage." he told himself. Reaching out, he felt the smooth mahogany door, polished by the sand constantly beating on it. Summoning up the last bit of his strength, he gave three powerful knocks at the door, praying somebody was home. Suddenly, something felt different within him. His heart began to thump hard. It felt as if time slowed down and his heartbeat was all that existed, giving a painful thump every second. It began to slow down, the intervals between beatings increasing. He clutched at the area where his heart was through his tunic, and felt his breath leave him as he collapsed to the ground, eyes rolled back into his head. The heat had gotten to him without him noticing at first, and he had passed out.

Author's Notes: Phew, okay. I'm glad I got that out of my system. I do a lot of creative writting in my free time, so I figured that eventually the writer in me would feel forced to post something here. I don't really know where this'll go, but I have a basic plan for Crescendo that I want to follow. I know I haven't given much detail except for his eyes, but I'm sure I'll get to it eventually. I'll post up another chapter tomorrow or something. Maybe not. Depends on how I'm feeling. Either way, I hope you all enjoyed it, and constructive criticism is always appreciated. Thanks again!
