Here's Chapter 5
Sorry again with the late wait for another short chapter... I actually tried to make this chapter longer than Ch.4 And do it much quicker...... But this chapter was so boring! .... So yeah... Warning you now... Boring chapter here...
But uh... Ch.5 ....This is a feat. As sad as that sounds... I'm still shocked that people are liking this story.
I'm also planning to make more chapters have more explaining as it moves on... Even though I'm making up most of this as I go.
And one more thing: I wanna thank Josefino for giving me suggestions :) ...It gave me idea's for the story later on.
.....Has anyone noticed that I have said "one more thing" in almost all the chapter starts...?
Anyways. Hope you enjoy this BORING chapter.
Riley stood there. Just a few steps away from Cassie... The Eevee who was planning to kill herself. While Riley was gonna do the same... And he's confused on what to do. Should he save her...? Or let her continue?
He decided..... For her to continue. He didn't wanna get in the way. Cause after all, she-
"Who's there?" Cassie said, turning around to see the Eevee. He froze... His eyes locked onto hers. He couldn't move. He didn't even know what to do next "Riley... Is that you?" She stepped out of the water.
He turned around and began walking away. Feeling utterly stupid about this whole thing "No... Please stay" She pleaded the leaving Eevee. He was surprised to hear that. Especially from Cassie... Anybody for that matter.
He did what he was told, and sat down on the grass. Facing away from her "C-Can you please come here?" Again, Riley was shocked more than ever. Why was she doing this? Being nice... Wanting to even be anywhere near him? But... Hesitantly. He did what he was told. He slowly turned, Holding his head down. Taking a few steps towards her... But kept his distance.
This was the most awkward moment ever. Cassie, his crush. Stood there staring at him. While Riley had his head down, looking away... As silence filled the air, and his heart pumped faster each second. He decided to say something "W...What's wrong...? Why are you..." He asked, in a quiet voice.
She smiled after she heard him talk. Glad to know he speaks "I found out Caleb was cheating on me..." And once more... Riley was surprised to no end... Well, when you think about it. How was he supposed to know something like that...? He never talked to anybody. He doesn't pay attention in class, or conversations. And he ditch's school when he has the chance.
As he got pulled back into existence. He said without thinking "Oh... That's awful... How'd you find out?" He didn't even know who he was. Infact. He felt no sympathy for her... She was gonna kill herself just cause she got dumped...? But... Only cause he had feelings for her. He wanted to help.
"That's not even the worst part... I ran away from home" She explained more, wiping the dried tears from her face.
And there it is... Seems like she really did have a problem... But wait a minute "Why are running away?" There eyes were now focusing at each other. Riley realized this. Then looked down again "You don't need to look down Riley... It's all right"
Still nervous... He slowly looked up, and met eye contact with Cassie once more. In pure instinct. He looked away... Causing her to smile. She just let him do what he was comfortable with "You're funny Riley" She pointed out.
Riley didn't know whether to feel happy at her comment... Or insulted... So he just kept his blank face and continued to stare at the grass. He now felt more uncomfortable then awkward. So he decided to go back to the subject "So... W..Why are you running away?"
Cassie sighed. Now being serious again "My parents were furious, cause they never knew about Caleb. And my dad got out of control... And....." After she got silent. Riley decided to add to it "You didn't want anymore of it... You felt like you had nobody. So you decided to just run away"
She smiled again "Yes... Thanks Riley" With those words coming out. Riley felt... Helpful... He felt somewhat good... Now it was back to silence. More of the awkward feeling built up inside him. Probably the same for her too... Riley doubted it...
But Cassie was looking away too... This whole thing was just... An unsettling. She then thought of something "Riley... I have nowhere to go.... Would you..?" Riley had a feeling something like this might happen... Is she just using him...? Is this a trick? Is this even real life now...? He didn't know what to think...
So doing what he does best (Not thinking) He replied with "Sure... You can stay at my Den..." He didn't know about this... He didn't kno-
Oh shit... That means he will have to go back home tonight... What he said to Walter, he probably told his mom.... And she could see his... His shoulder... The blood washed off. But you can almost see the cut.
But forget that... What about the beating he got..? Well... Cassie didn't notice his bruises, and there in the moonlight... So maybe in the dark Den. His mom won't notice it either... Fuck, what is he gonna say to his mom about Cassie? This whole thing didn't go so well...
"Thanks again Riley... I don't know why everyone hates you..." ......Riley didn't know what to think about that... He couldn't even think about her situation right now. He could only think about his... But at least he's helping someone right..? Nah... Only cause it's Cassie...
"Okay... Let's go..." They both walked out of the open area and into the trees. Riley didn't like this... But he can't just go like 'Oh, I'm sorry. But I can't go home tonight' Right after he said he'd take her to his Den... Plus if it did go like that. He will have to explain why, for this and that and look stupid... And it also might lead to talking about the incident with Caleb... Something he does not want her to know... Not anyone... Maybe she already does. But either way, he's not risking it.
It's only been a couple of minutes of walking in the dark forest. But it felt like it's already been twenty. Riley still felt very shy and cautious... Cassie walked close beside him... No one has ever gotten that close to him without pushing him aside, or back away like he's a disease.
After all that thinking he had in his head. Another thought invaded him.
'Why...? Why is she coming with me..? Doesn't she have friends? I may be a loner and not know who she was dating... But I do know that she has tons of friends she could have went to...'
After realizing that, he stopped walking... She stopped too, and turned to say "What...? What's wrong?" Should he ask why she's going with him? Or should he just go back to walking..? No... He'll look even more stupid.
"Why are you with me?" She stared at him. She didn't know what he meant "I mean... Why didn't you go to your friends? Instead of strait to the lake...?" After saying that. Cassie sighed, and sat down. Riley realized she was gonna explain more of the issue... "I couldn't..."
Riley turned his head in confusion "What do you mean couldn't..? It's not that late... They could have-
"No, not that. I couldn't because... M-..I...Jenny... She's the one who Caleb was cheating on me with" Riley still did not know what was going on "So, Jenny is... Your frien-
"Was. Now she's a backstabbing bitch" She exclaimed, interupting him... Riley didn't understand any of this drama. He didn't want to either... It seemed like it was one of the bad things for having friends... Or... Mate's...
And once again. More silence filled the air... What was said, was already out. There was no need to have more explaining... Silently. Cassie stood up and they went back to walking.
Twenty minutes later...
It felt like they've been walking all night... For Riley maybe... He's not sure about Cassie...
"How much further?" ....Maybe it did feel the same for her "Were almost there..." Was his reply.
As they continued walking along the path. There were noises in the forest... Riley ignored it. But Cassie couldn't "I swear, there's something out there..." She said, while looking into the fully dark area's, behind and between the trees.
Riley focused on the same places Cassie was looking... His vision was used to the darkness. So he could easily see what she couldn't "There's something out there all right... But we'll be fine" Cassie stared at him "How do you know...? How can you even see?"
"It's not that dark... And I always walk around at night. Nothing happens" She still felt uncomfortable being out at midnight... But she listened to Riley. And felt somewhat safe with him.
"What is this..?"
Damon... Watched the Eevee's from a distance.
"Hehehe... My little Riley is all grown up..."
He smiled as he talked to himself.
"This is getting more interesting... Hehe... I can't wait to see what happens next"
He looked over at them one last time. Then walked away, and disappeared in the forest.
Riley still couldn't think strait... Cassie. The girl he loved was walking right beside him. They even talked... She also want's to stay at his Den too... Which infact where his mother will be, and he doesn't know how she's gonna react to everything.
Now Riley's thinking of the problems he has right now... The problem with what he said to Walter... The incident with Caleb... His bruises and scars around his body... How does Cassie not see that...? Maybe she's not used to being in the dark...
He was just flooded with thoughts... He didn't even know what to think first, or of what will happen... How will his mom react to Cassie? How long will she stay? The night? The week? What will his mom say when she see's him...? What will she say if Walter told her about...
He didn't want to go home. He felt like he should run away too... Maybe he should explain it to Cassie... Now wouldn't that be the perfect thing to say at the perfect time? (Sarcasm) Especially when he said it was all right about twenty five minutes ago. And right when there close to his home.
"Well, what do you know... Were here..." As soon as Riley announced that. Cassie jumped from excitement "Really! Oh thank Arceus! I'm freezing!" Riley couldn't help but smile. He felt so helpful... But again. It's only cause it's Cassie.
He lead her to the entrance of the Den. Each step he took, his heart thumped faster and faster... Waiting to expect his mother...
They crawled inside through the entrance. The Den was big enough to fit about six Pokemon... Standard size for just two... Also it was near pitch black inside. But warm and cozy.
As they went inside, Cassie quickly got comfortable and laid down at one side of the Den "Thanks Riley... Thank you so much" Riley nodded at her... He was confused on why his mother wasn't here... But... That was actually a good thing. So he tried to stop thinking about it.
But he couldn't... Where is she? Is she at Walters? That's the only place he could think... And if she's there... Then he is gonna tell her...
'I swear, this is the most I have ever thought about anything in my entire life'
He laid down on the other side of the Den from Cassie... Is this his imagination? Is this a dream...? Whatever is happening. Cassie is right there, sleeping in his own Den..... Howcome that is the only thing he can mostly think about right now...? Everything has gone to shit lately... And he can't get his mind off a girl, who's just staying for the night? He rolled over, facing the wall...
Riley still didn't know what to do...
