#4 of Claiming a Mate

Alright just so everyone is clear, this series of stories are based off the cartoon Godzilla: the Series and not the films or the original cartoon by Hannah Barbara. It has been expressed that there was some confusion, and I am just clearing that up.

P.S: Ten points to the person who guesses what I mean when I refer to the "island" :)

_ Banished _

It had been coming, Randy realised that. He had become more withdrawn from the team, more moody between mutation investigations. The fact that Godzilla ad stolen him away for nights of... well, yeah. It wouldn't have been such a problem, if Godzilla hadn't kidnapped him in front of Nick only two nights ago. Randy now stood before his teammates, back against a wall and arms folded over his chest. Nick stood in front of him, his arms also folded and a disappointed frown marring his features. The rest of the team was scattered around the room, looks of concern and disbelief turned his way.

'Well?' Nick drew the hacker's attention to him. Randy stared at his friend and boss, wincing at the look he was receiving. 'What do you have to say for yourself?'

Behind him, everyone including Monique flinched at Nick's harsh tone. Randy's gaze briefly went to her. The crush he had on her-tiny compared to the one he had on Godzilla-vanished into oblivion. He realised she had been the one to approach Nick about his behaviour. Closing his eyes and breathing deeply, he turned his attention back to Nick.

'Explain what, Nick?' he asked, watching his friend through cautious eyes. 'What have I done?'

'First I want to know; how did you survive being swallowed by Godzilla?'

Randy snorted, a habit he had picked up from his mate. 'He didn't swallow me, jefe,' Randy corrected, chuckling. 'He was just playing with me.' It couldn't have been closer to the truth, he thought.

'Playing?' Nick asked, arching an eyebrow. 'Godzilla has never shown that kind of behaviour before, Randy. Speaking of which, how would you describe Godzilla's behaviour around you.'

'What behaviour? The G-man barely notices me,' Randy replied, barely keeping a straight face.

Godzilla's voice swept through his mind. .: It does not matter what Father thinks, Randy. I will not give you up. :. Godzilla whispered, soothing the teen's fears. Randy had to stop himself from leaning into his mate's mental touch. It astonished him how easily he had come to accept that notion.

'Randy, don't lie. We know there is something going on,' Mendel spoke up. 'Nigel hasn't been tampered with for two months. We haven't heard a single joke since New Mexico. Just tell s what's wrong.'

Randy shook his head.

Nick sighed. 'Randy, do you remember the deal we made when you first started working for me?' Randy nodded, so Nick continued. 'You were to be completely honest with me, especially if it involved Godzilla. Up until now, you've managed to keep your part. But you're keeping something from me, and I can't have that.'

Randy froze, staring at his friend. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Pushing away from the wall, he gapped at Nick. 'You're firing me?' he asked, stuttering to get the words out.

'Temporary leave Randy.' Nick stepped forward, placing a hand on his shoulder. 'Take a few days off. Get some rest.'

'What if you need me?' Randy demanded.

'We can handle it.'

Randy glared at Nick for a few moments. Finally he shrugged the hand off his shoulder and turned away. Scooping up his laptop, he made his way towards the freight elevator. Everything else was already at his apartment, so he needn't worry about any of that.

Really, all he had to worry about was his mate.

Stepping onto the elevator, he turned and placed is hand upon the doors, staring at his friends. He shook his head, unable to find the words to express how he felt. With a parting look, he slammed the doors shut.

Stepping out into the sunlight, he paused. Where to go now?

.: Randy. :. Randy tuned to the right, watching as Godzilla rose from the bay. The gargantuan mutation leaned down to his level, nudging the teen gently. .: you live on the water's edge, yes? Far from other humans? :.

Randy nodded.

Godzilla gently licked him, both well aware that Nick was watching from the window. .: I will come find you. :.

.o.O.o.

'Do you think we're doing the right thing?'

'I hope so?'

'What about Godzilla?'

'We'll have to wait and see.'

.o.O.o.

Randy parked his scooter out the front of his house, taking a moment to look around. Only a few other buildings stood, the rest reduced to rubble. When his mate's father arrived in the big apple, he had walked straight through Randy's district before heading straight for the fish market. Hardly anyone lived in the area anymore, so Randy had the whole area basically to himself. Good thing too, if Godzilla ended up visiting.

Quickly unlocking the door, he stepped inside. What meagre belongings he had were stowed away in his messenger bag and the rest of his clothes in a suitcase. The rest of the house was empty with the exception of the furniture.

.: Randy. :.

Glancing up from putting his laptop away, Randy shouldn't have been surprised to see a giant, fiery red eye staring in at him. But it did. Randy jumped about a foot and a half into the air, his heart racing at a million miles an hour. Glaring at his mate, he sent his feelings of annoyance along the bond.

A chuckle met his feelings.

.: Come outside, Randy. :. Randy shivered; the purring of Godzilla's voice hitting a pleasure nerve inside him. .: I promise it will be worth facing the cold. :.

Randy gapped at Godzilla's forwardness and the overly suggestive tone he used. 'Godzilla! What if someone sees us?'

The eye blinked at him. .: then I will scare them off. :. he vowed. Randy believed him. .: come outside, Randy. :.

Slowly, Randy walked through his house, approaching the window Godzilla was watching him through. Thank God that the window has a sliding door attached to it. He didn't particularly want his mate tearing down the wall to get to him. The eye retreated as Randy stepped out onto the balcony.

Glancing past Godzilla, he stared at the city. For some reason or another, he had a feeling he wouldn't be seeing it again for a while.

"We're leaving, aren't we?' Randy asked, leaning against the railing and looking up at the mutation.

.: Yes. :. Godzilla nodded. .: In all the time our former pack travelled together, I came across an island. There were others, one very similar to me. there were human too. We could live there, together. :.

Randy frowned. 'What about Nick and the others at HEAT? They may eventually want me back, you know?' he stated.

Godzilla rumbled. .: Father and his pack will have to learn to live without us. It is time I left my nest and started a life for myself. For us. :.

Lowering his head, he stared at the water beneath the balcony. Could he really just up and leave? There was always the chance that Nick would ask him to come back. But that was it. He had finished college, his parents had left him a small fortune when they had dies. There was nothing tying him to New York. Nothing but Godzilla.

'I'll think about it,' Randy stated, watching the sun set. 'But I don't think we'll be going anywhere tonight.'

Acknowledgement came in the form of a nod. .: of course. Go inside now Love. It is getting too cold out here for you. :.

Turning back to the house, Randy stepped inside.

.: However, there is something I need to show you. :.

Sighing, Randy turned back towards the balcony. 'What is i...' Stunned, he couldn't believe what was standing before him. Blinking, his mouth fell open in astonishment. 'Godzilla?'

.: Yes, Love. It is me. :.
