The Unicorn Dream
It was a dark stormy night in Livenire on the other side of the fantasy world, and over two-hundred years ago it was a beautiful land of mystical things and enchanted powers, but there was a problem a member of the government found this sacred place, sending the land off balance when they found the portal, then they took it all nuking every place making it into a giant waste land to dispose rubbish there, but if we go back over two-hundred years ago this is where the young Unicorn started his journey...
It was a wonderful spring day in Livenire, a peaceful land of mystical creatures. Unicorns galloped along the coast, Gryphon's soared through the skies, Dragons where coming back from the long trip to the other side to gather more gold for their dens, but back to where some unicorns where grazing there was a young female white Unicorn was giving birth to a young foal, she wasn't having much trouble with it, and was over within the next few hours.
Laid there on the floor was a strange but beautiful black unicorn as she smiled down at her new born son, she whinnied softly nuzzling him softly running her tongue over his fur cleaning him, he smiled softly and whinnied back a little, the two laid side by side for seven and a half hours before they had enough energy to get up and trotting around the young foal was dinking milk from his mother as she munched on the grass happily.
For the next few months the foal grew up into a young adult, he had learned the basics of survival and keeping the herd safe from predators and other threats on the lands.
One day the young male unicorn went off exploring to keep his mind at peace so he didn't get bored and he wandered off into to the woods that stood in front of him, he snorted in curiosity as he slowly moved into the mouth of the woods, all this was new sounds to him and was frightening him even more, then that's when he saw a white flashing light that blinded him momentarily he shut his eyes.
Everything when silent for a moment and when he opened his eyes, he was laying in the middle of a city, in broad daylight, people stopped and stared in shock, he looked around the place to find the flash that had taken him to a new world, it was almost like he had been sent forward in time, but he didn't know that he had just been taken to the other world.
The young male stood up, and something seemed different, he felt alone and helpless as people surrounded him, the creatures weren't elves and the smaller ones were not dwarfs or hobbits, he was lost now crying out for his mother but there was no response.
And then it happened he was shoot with tranquilizer darts, sending him into a trip as he started to doze off before falling to the floor, he was picked up by a harness and loaded into the back of a truck taken away to the local animal centre, when they arrived at the centre for stray animals they went inside, by this time the Unicorn was awakening from his sleep as he slowly came too from the drug, he struggled getting to his feet, but managed to support his weight by leaning on the metal fence around him.
"What have we got then guys, not another dog I hope?" said the boss of the company.
"No... it is a little strange really, we had calls from various people about a black unicorn laying In the road, so we went to investigate to see if it was just a horse with a cone attached to his head... and." The driver of the van paused for a second and pointed. "Well it is a real Unicorn and it needs to be re-homed or disposed of." He said doing the death gesture.
"NO!" bellowed the owner of stray animal centre, "no, we will see what we can do with him, if not then we will just give him to someone who has some big money, this little fella is gonna make us a huge pile of spondooli." He grinned.
A couple of hours later the unicorn was moved into a stable with other horses, once the three males had left the building one of the horses turned around and laughed at the Unicorn.
"Ha-ha, Oh dear god, looks like this guy thinks he is a Unicorn, he's even got a cornetto glued to his head." The poor Unicorn was being ridiculed, "Well he ain't a Rudolph but I guess he will do." The horse continued.
"Hey lay off kids, give the new guy a brake..." said the black Thoroughbred, "Yo... What up homie, you talking?" he asked.
The Unicorn looked at him and opened his mouth, "Hmmmmm." All that came out, and everyone burst out laughing, making the unicorn feel more stupid by the minute.
"Shut up fairy." He looked back to the young horse who was being an idiot about it as he stomped his hoof, "yo kiddo, ignore him, he just trippin on noting, so where yaw from G?" He turned his attention back to the new hoof.
"I....I am... I am fro...from the land, of Livenire." He shook his head as his eyes looked towards the end of his muzzle, "I... can? Talk?" he tilted his head he never could talk before.
"Well I am Kiddy, and over there in number 23 is Dukey, and over there is Pod. So what's your name kiddo?" The Unicorn shuffled a little, and scrapped his hoof.
"I don't have one..." pausing feeling stupid that he didn't have a name, "I don't have one?" he whispered to Kiddy, Kiddy just nodded.
"Ok ... I can fix that..." he chuckled back softly, "Yo, what's up people dis is Dream, he new here today, so treat the kid with some respect, or you'll be answering to my hoof..." Fairy snorted at Kiddy.
"You can't touch me, you big oaf." Fairy laughed.
Dream turned and snorted softly, walking up to the wall separating him from fairy, as the kid just started getting too big for his own shoes, and Dream just rammed his horn into the cocky horse...
"OUCH!" Fairy whinnied, "You son of a!!!!" He snorted, "I'll get you for that." He started to sulk that he had just made to look a fool.
"Ha-ha I like your style Big D, so tell me more about this place you came from, what's it? Livenire or something like that?" Dream nodded.
"Yeah well I have only been around for a couple of months, but I came from where Elves, Hobbits, Dragons, Gryphon's, Unicorns as you can guess, and other mystical things live, but I was talking a stroll through the woods, and well then this happens." He dropped his head slightly.
"Cool sounds like a dream come true alright, better than this god forsaken place." He smiled, but just when Dream was getting into a nice conversation with kiddy, they where interrupted when the owner charged into the stable area.
"Right then little guy, time to see what your made of?" he grinned, as he approached the stable, and Dream backed off slightly, looking up at Kiddy, Kiddy just nodded and snorted him to do as he was told, Dream smiled and nodded softly.
The owner got the head collar putting it around the unicorns head fixing it up and adjusting it to size, "Right let's, gets you measured." He smiled, "Well from his hooves he can't be more than a couple of months, but there is no way he is twelve hands at his age... ah well still we will break you and get you safe enough to ride." He grinned a little.
In the training arena Dream was being lunged around in circles as he did as he was told, not really putting up a fight, if Kiddy said to behave then that's what he was gonna do. That's when it went all wrong and the man mounted Dream sitting himself comfortably into the saddle and they began in a walk Dream didn't feel right though he was in discomfort not use to the weight at all but he tried his best, then that's when the owner hit him with the whip and it was hard, making Dream spook, sending him crazy, he started rearing up and kicking a bit, then he stood up on his two hind legs throwing the owner off of the saddle into a stack of hay.
"Right that's enough training for now." He grunted a little rubbing his back in pain, "Damn I think we need to work on the whip tomorrow." He patted his chest slightly, "I want him put into the single stable tonight." He coughed.
It was now 5.00 and Kiddy wondered where Dream had gotten to, that there was no way that he has been training for 7 hours, he would have to be dead by now, but no Dream was pretty much alive, but not alright the owner was smashing his whip over the horses rump and on his shoulder Dream wailed and whinnied in agonizing pain, leaving long slash marks where it hit his body, over and over again until the Dream laid there on the floor blood ran through his fur.
"You will learn you little... Oh the wife's back, but I'll be back so you learn you lesson now, for tomorrows training." He laughed throwing the whip at him, making Dream finch as he shook as rain dripped on him, then the owner left the stable spitting at the Unicorn who laid there.
Once the door had shut, Dream laid there and cried as he looked up at the sky he tried standing but his legs where so weak he just collapsed in agony but he shuffled in pain into a corner and just curled up sniffing and neighing softly.
It was a long dreary night and Kiddy was worried about Dream as it was now 11.00 at night and he wasn't back, "Hey Dukey ma homie I am gonna go and find Big D he ain't back yet." Kiddy shuffled anxiously lifting the catch and opening his stable door, walking out of the back, towards the training arena. "Big D where are you man?" he called out that's when he saw the light on in the single barn, he trotted in quickly he spotted Dreams tackle, looking over the door. "Big D!" he whinnied as he opened the latch on the door letting him into see Dream... "Dream... What happened?" Dream just coughed, shuddering a little, Kiddy walked upto Dream and laid down next to him, snuggling close to the battered Unicorn, as he stared licking the wounds.
"I swear Kiddy, I didn't do nothing he hit me with something hard and I made me jump, and I bucked, throwing him off, and then this..." he wept softly hiding his face in shame.
"Hey hey Big D don't worry man, it isn't your fault." The Thoroughbred re-assured the Unicorn, "Don't worry, I will get some help and we'll take you back to your stable..." He sighed as he stood up.
"No! I don't wanna face them they'll all laugh at me, and say stuff that will hurt, and I don't need it right now." Kiddy whinnies at him.
"No they won't, anyway bad news Fairy poor guy got shot last night by hunters. So he won't laugh..." He shook his head, "Come on kiddo, lets get you back to your stable." He nuzzled his little friend and nudged him.
Dream looked at Kiddy and rested his head on Kiddy's neck as Kiddy raised up off of the floor, supporting Dreams weight as the Unicorn struggled to his feet, he limped a little back to his stable, as Kiddy guided him in and lowered Dream down in the stable, all the sawdust getting into his wounds, he whinnied softly as he slept in pain, Kiddy shut the door and walked into his stable shutting the door behind him.
"Take it easy little guy..." he smiled whinnying to Dream.
The rest of the night was agonizing for Dream as he lay on his back to sleep comfy so his wounds where out of harms reach.
"Hey Kiddy... is Big D alright?" Dukey asked with concern.
Kiddy just nodded back and hushed everyone down so they could sleep
