The following morning was cold, but the first rays of sunshine broke apart the clouds, trying too brighten the gloomy atmosphere brought on by the storm that raged the night before. Snowdrift looked out the same window again, taking in the details of the city, watching the busy inhabitants of the planet begin their daily lives. PTV's zoomed to and fro, carrying the occupants too their destinations.

So peaceful. She thought, and chuckled too herself. But it can deceive you. The tigertaur absentmindedly rubbed her breast scar, thinking back too the events that robbed her of her new unborn cub. The insane driver, a wolf morph, gunning the PTV towards Suira Sandpaws. Her sudden rash action to push the paralysed fennec foxtaur out of the way, only too be hit instead. Hurtling through the air with a sickening crunch, pain in her side, both left torso limbs bent wrongly from the impact. Crashing through the shop window, pain lancing through her body as two large shards of glass sliced through her midsection and right breast. Screams, shouts. The words "Humans First" echoed through her dazed mind, then blackness.

The next thing she remembered was waking up in hospital, weak and without a swollen abdomen. Rage and anguish tore through her soul, an emptiness that made her ach. It was like she lost a part of her, some innocence that she will not get back. And what made matters worst, was her denmate Solarblaze hadn't come too see her, or hear from hir. Shi must be devastated at losing hir unborn cub.

<And how is my patient doing today?> replied a sweet angelic voice, that interrupted her tormented thoughts. Looking back, Snowdrift gave a weak half-hearted smile at the hermaphrodite foxtaur doctor.

"Fine, all things considered." She replied, giving a heavy sigh.

<Good sweety. Well, just let me do an examination before your medications, then I have some news too tell you.> shi replied, laying a hand on the tigertaur's head and closed hir eyes. Illumanati's hand started too glow golden, and then shi ran hir hand down over the tigertaur's breast, belly, limbs, abdomen, spine and finishing at the tip of her tail.

Hir hand stopped glowing and shi opened hir eyes again, one gold and the other a bright green. Shi regarded hir new daughter in law with love and kindness, lightly stroking her cheek.

<Despite what you went through and the injuries you sustained, you will make a full recovery. Your joints will be sore and stiff for awhile, but will pass in time. What you need is rest and full body recuperation, which includes massages.> shi replied, smiling when Snowdrift closed her eyes and nuzzled against hir hand, purring softly.

"So I take it I'll be stuck in this dreary room awhile longer then?" she replied, a slight sarcasm in her voice.

<No hun, you will be discharged straight after your medication. You're coming home with me.> the arctic foxtaur replied, smiling.

Snowdrift's eyes sparkled, a glimmer of happiness emerged within the cold light blue irises.

"And I will get too see Solar? How is shi? I haven't heard from hir in days. Why hadn't shi visited me?" The barrage of questions stumped Illumanati, as shi tried too find away to answer them, tactfully.

<Well, shi is fine. Shi's been, preoccupied. Coping with hir loss in hir own way. And shi hasn't come too see you, because...> Nati looked away, sniffling and wiping a tear away.

Snowdrift sensed something was amiss, and made her own conclusions based on Nati's reactions.

"Shi blames me for the loss of the cub, doesn't shi?" she replied, her ears flat and a look of sorrow crossed her face again. "I don't blame hir if shi does."

<No hunni, no. Shi doesn't blame you for the accident.> Nati replied, hugging the distraught felinetaur.

"Then why hasn't shi come too visit? Even Sundawn visited with Dawnlight. But I got the feeling that shi was hiding something." Snowdrift replied, clearly agitated.

Illumanati looked at her and sighed, settling down and held her hand, stroking it.

"What?! You can tell me." She demanded.

<I promised too tell you, eventually. But you must be prepared. Solarblaze has gone through a change.> Illumanati replied, looking directly into Snowdrift's eyes.

"Change? What kind of change?" she asked, but was interrupted by the orderly entering the room pushing the tray containing her breakfast.

"So, is the kitty hungry this morning?" replied the overweight male wolf morph, preparing the tray of food for Snowdrift.

"Get Lost." She snapped, clearly irritated.

"Awww, no need to be like that. We have a delicious serving of eggs, bacon and sausages. You need your strength if you're going to face the day ahead." He added, picking the tray up and placing it on the bedtable, but was quickly struggling for breath as Snowdrift tossed the table over, spilling the contents on the floor and proceeded to choke the unfortunate wolf morph around his throat.

"I SAID GET LOST, FUCKING DOG TURD, BEFORE I RIP YOUR FUCKING THROAT OUT, UNDERTSAND?!" she snarled, claws digging into his neck and her teeth bared as her light blue eyes flashed with primal rage.

"I do." He managed to gasp, clearly terrified, trying in vain too pull her hands away so he could breathe. Illumanati gently placed a hand on her shoulders.

<Snowy, let him go hun, please.> shi pleaded, rubbing gently.

Snowdrift looked at the foxtaur with anger, but quickly calmed down and released the orderly, who quickly left the room. Then she broke down and cried, burying her muzzle into the cleavage of the foxtaur, sobbing and clutching her new mother.

Nati gently murred and whispered comforting words too the tigertaur, stroking her head fur while rocking gently. Noticing the hospital security entering the room, using hir telepathic abilities, shi politely and discreetly told them that all was ok, and everything is under control. They both nodded and holstered their stun weapons and left.

Soon, Snowdrift had settled down and stopped crying, her face fur was a mess, stained from tears she had kept locked up.

"I'm sorry." She whispered, giving a hiccup.

<For what hun?>

"For lashing out like that, it just got away from me. I saw him, the wolf morph orderly, and memories of that day came back. Plus he was so annoying"

<I'm sure he'll understand, once I have spoken to him. Now, what about your medication before coming home with me; and then you'll get too see Solarblaze.> shi replied, smiling as shi prepared the pills and syringe.

"I've been looking forward too this Nati, I hope Solar still loves me?" she replied, swallowing the pills with a cup of water as Nati injected the Dyroxium medication into Snowdrifts neck.

Illumanati grimaced at that question, unsure of hir daughter's reaction at seeing Snowdrift.

<Well, are you ready?> shi asked, holding the tigertaur's pawhand, who grasped it tightly.

"Ready as I can be. Let's go. I remember when I teleported with Goldpaw the first time, it was so strange."

<Yes, but now it's a constant occurrence.> Nati remarked, teleporting them both from the hospital room to the lush well kept front garden. The hum from the force field generator provided protection from the onslaught of the storm from the night before, sheltering the flower bed and grass.

Puzzled, Snowdrift looked at Nati.

"Why have we landed outside? Why not inside?" she asked, confused.

<Because hun, you have too know something about Solarblaze before you see hir.> shi replied, hand on the tigertaur's shoulders, rubbing it softly.

"And what is that?" she asked.

Before Illumanati could answer, the door opened and Solarblaze came bounding out and greeted hir mother with a kisslick and nuzzle, clutching a fox plushy.

"Hi momma." Shi chirped excitedly.

<Hi sweety.> Nati replied, returning the kisslicks and nuzzles.

Then shi looked at the white tigertaur, sniffing her scent.

"Who's your friend, momma?" shi asked, clutching onto Nati's arm and peered at Snowdrift.

"Solar?" Snowdrift replied, clearly confused.

"That's my name." Solarblaze replied, and then shi looked at hir mother with a questioning glance.

"How does she know my name momma?"

"Solarblaze, stop kidding. You know who I am." Snowdrift replied, approaching her denmate.

Solarblaze shivered and hid behind hir mother.

"Nope. Don't remember you." Solarblaze replied, nervously watching the tigertaur.

"Solar!?" Snowdrift pleaded, clearly upset.

Illumanati decided to intervene, and shi turned too hir daughter and held hir hands gently, then had a private discussion. Shortly, Solarblaze's face lit up and shi slowly and cautiously walked too Snowdrift.

"Hi...Snowy... momma says that you're my... denmate." Shi replied hands in front and fidgeted slightly.

"Nati? What's going on?" the tigertaur asked, clearly confused and distraught.

<In short Snowy, hun. Solarblaze has what psychiatrists called, regressive amnesia.>

"What's that?" Snowdrift asked, not liking where this conversation is going.

<It means, shi's got no memory of the last 13 years; hir mother Sunrise, blocked everything shi had done from hir memory. Including the Island assault after your accident. Shi doesn't remember you, or Sundawn, or hir cub, or the time at FCT. In hir mind, shi is still a 4 year old cub. Shi acts and behaves like a cub, in an adult body. Shi is very confused, and at times scared about hir body doing weird things. Like heat and erections.>

The amount of information Illumanati was relaying was too much for the exhausted tigertaur, No memory of her or their unborn cub, still thinks shi is a cub, no memory of Sundawn or Dawnlight.

With a moan and a whimper, Snowdrift collapsed, and the last thing she heard was Solarblaze asking if this was some kind of game before she blacked out.
