"It has been ten years since that day... The day I began my new life... I can still remember it, as if it were just last week. Becoming a pup again... I only have Jirachi to thank for that".

The Absol stood up. Her old bones crack with the task; she had had a great second life. She had loved, lost some friends and found out the truth about how she became young again. Not only that, but her friends have had some great adventures as well, some of which she was a part of...

She looked over to her life-long mate. The Grass type was sound asleep, as he usually was during this time of night... Letting out a yawn, she decided it was time for her to snooze as well. She curled up next to him; just like old times.

"Good morning my Dark Princess".

"It's the afternoon my grassy prince". She said without even opening her eyes.

He looked up at the sun. "You're right... How do you know these things?" He returned his gaze to Absol.

"I've lived for 20 years (Yes, I know Absols can live for longer than a century, but it wrecks my story. So shut up!). I've learnt these things during that time... Do you mind coming over here?"

The grass type curled up next to the Absol, but rolled onto his back. He gave out a small whimper; Absol knew exactly what it meant.

"Fine"

Using her front paw, she dug into her mate's side and started to scratch him; the only spot he couldn't reach by himself. The male let out a small groan while his back left leg started twitching uncontrollably. This was the one that was always responsive. After a minute of scratching she stopped. "Better?"

He got back up on all fours and gave her a kiss on the mouth. "Much better thank you. Guess what today is!"

The Absol sighed. "Yes, I know it's my birthday. Growly and Slash coming?" She preferred using the nicknames she gave them all.

"Yeah, Growlithe will be coming here. He should be here soon. Slash will be here later tonight, along with his kid... Remember; don't mention Nine when Growlithe gets here. He still is pretty beat-down about it..."

". . . . . . . I miss Nine... I feel kind of responsible for what happened."

A snide voice called out behind them both. "That's because it was your fault Abby".

"Don't call me Abby, Growlithe". She turned around to face her friend. "And hello to you too..."

Growlithe turned his attention to her mate. "Good to see you again, Leaf."

The Leafeon nodded. "I see you haven't found another stone yet. What has it been? 30 months in there now?"

Growlithe nodded. "It would be less if SHE", he said while motioning to Absol" didn't get her killed".

"Oh my dear Growlithe, I've explained what happened to her 100 times; Why can't you just accept that she sacrificed herself? Why must you be so hostile to me all the time?"

The Growlithe gave her a low growl. He turned to look at Leafeon, wanting to end the current conversation. Leafeon picked this up and said "So... Have either of you heard when Slash is getting here?"

It was night. Sandslash had arrived hours ago and his kid... Well he was acting like any normal teenage Pokémon would. For Absol's birthday, they had gathered up a feast of berries and apples for a dinner, so Absol and Growlithe went looking for dessert; They had all decided on Combee honey. Leafeon, being the grass type, went out to plant all the seeds that they didn't swallow. Sandslash and his kid fell asleep; being used to the heat and suddenly coming to a coldish climate is quite tiring for them.

Absol and Growlithe had finished bargaining with the Combees, by not making Growlithe burn their hive to a smoky crisp. Absol was carrying the honey in a special jar the Combee had "offered" to make her. Carrying honey for five Pokémon was exhausting and she put the jar on the ground and said "Sorry Growlithe, I need to rest".

"Humph. Fine...."

After listening to Absol's slow pants, Growlithe decided to speak up.

"Absol?"

"Yeah?"

"I'm sorry. I've been a huge jerk to you these past few months... It's just that..."

(Sigh) "I know Growly, you were in love with Nine and you just want someone to blame so you don't blame yourself. I understand."

"But still... I am sorry..."

Absol gave the fire fox a hug. "I just said don't worry about it Growly"

He blushed at being touched by the Absol. "Thanks" He snuggled into her chest, giving out a small purr. He looked back up at her smiling face.

"He is a good Pokémon... And look at those handsome brown eyes... That cute little tuft of fur above his head..." Absol couldn't understand, why was her heart pumping like mad?

"Oh hey, you're both back!" The Leafeon had, in fact, finished his task before they did.

Absol deliberately averted her eyes; she could barely look at either of the boys. She had betrayed her partner and had already disturbed a recently mended friendship. She looked at Slash; He was still asleep. Damn... She needed someone to talk to...

"You ok there Absol? You are a bit distant tonight".

"Pardon? Oh. Yeah, don't worry about me Leaf"

"Ok Absol, what do you want to talk to me about?"

Absol had nudged Sandslash awake and led him away from the camp. He was annoyed, but knew she wouldn't have woken him up without a good reason.

"Well... Um... I need to talk to you about something. You see... Ar... How can I explain this?"

-Yawn-"Look Abby, as much as I enjoy being led away into the night forest by a dark type... Well, is this important?" Sandslash turned around and started to walk back.

"Growlithe and I made out!"

Once Slash heard this, he instantly froze, digging his claws into the ground. He slowly turned around to face Absol. "What?"

"Growlithe and I ma-"

"No, I mean why?"

Absol gave her friend a glare. "Why ask me what if you mean why?"

"Ca- Can we just move past that?"

-Sigh- "It was a spur of the moment thing; it means nothing but betrayal to me now".

"Telling Leaf?"

"I know I need to, but I have no idea how to..."

Sandslash gave an excited grin. "Would you like to learn how?"

"Hello Abby"

"Hey Leaf", Absol thought back to what Slash had told her.

"To start, you have to make them happy. Not really happy, but happy. Give them a compliment"

"Umm... Hey Leaf, that umm... You seemed to finish the seeding quickly tonight"

-Sigh- "What happened Absol?"

Absol was stunned. He had seen through her in a matter of seconds. "H-how did yo-"

"You never, ever compliment me. So unless something is wrong, you would just keep quiet and stare at me with that fake stare that makes it look like you're paying attention when you're really in your own world"

She let out a playful smile. "Yes, but that's when the topic is booooooring"

Leafeon gave her a smile and rubbed his face affectionately against hers. "We're getting off-topic. What's the problem?"

Absol inhaled sharply. Both Growlithe and Leafeon would be angry when Leaf knew... But... He had to know...

"Growly and I made out". She closed her eyes, bracing herself for a blow. But, when nothing came, she opened them, and found that Leaf was smiling.

"Don't tell me you fretted over that my love. Let me put it this way: I do not own you, I cannot tell you what to do, what to feel. You have every right to do whatever you want".

Absol felt her heart flutter. He was the best mate she could- No. He was the best mate ever. She stepped towards him and gave him a hug.

"I love you Leaf"

"I love you too"

Absol and Leaf met back up with Slash, his son and Growlithe. Slash looked a bit sad, while Growlithe just had his blank face on and Slash's son just looked bored.

"What's wrong guys?" asked Leaf.

"I... I have some bad news..."

"Well, come on then, tell us"

-Sigh- "Well... This will be the last time we see each other..."

Absol gasped. "Why?"

It was his son that replied. "Because mum and I agreed that it would be best to live in the place called Hoenn instead of staying here in Unova. Dad just doesn't want to go"

"Well, we have to get going now... See you guys... I hope you figure out your little problem"

The trio waved at the leaving Ground types. Both Absol and Leaf had tears in their eyes while Growly just glared at Absol. Aggressively, he asked "What did he mean, little problem?"

Absol and Leafeon glanced at each other awkwardly. "I know you kissed her Growly, and I'm fine with it"

Growlithe directed his anger towards Absol. "You told him? I thought I told you not to!"

"Look Growlithe, it's ok. I don't mind"

"How dare you. How dar-"

"Look. Come with me. I'm getting you away from her". He motioned towards Absol, who was wearing a blank face.

Growlithe gave Absol a low growl before following Leafeon through the forest. "Ok Growly, what is the problem?"

Absol awoke with a start. She looked around where she had fallen asleep. No-one was around her. It was still dark; she guessed that it had maybe been an hour since she had seen those two... Give or take an hour...

"Wait a second... What's that?" She took a sniff of the air. It was a familiar smell... No, two smells mixed into one. The first one... She realised was smoke. She could see it rising in the distance. The second... Once she realised, it made her stomach drop. "Blood"

In an instant, she was on her feet and sprinting towards the smoke. "Oh boys... What have you done?"

5 Minutes Before

"Yes... That is a bit of a problem... Are you sure that it's a good idea? I mean... After Nine..."

"Don't talk about Nine, Leaf..."

"If you're sure about this, then you need to be able to talk about her"

"Why?" Growlithe stopped walking. "Why can't she stay with me? In my heart?"

"Look. I'm not going to say what you can and can't feel when it comes to Nine. But this plan... I care about your happiness and all but... I can't let you go through with this plan. The result will disturb both me..." He stepped in front of Growlithe. "And Absol. I can't allow that"

Growlithe let out a low growl. "This will work. And you won't stop me" He let a Flamethrower loose in Leaf's direction. The fire caught onto his foot, and within a couple of seconds ignited his entire body.

"Hurry... Hurry... To the smoke"

The smell of the smoke was strong now, much stronger than before. But now, there was a new smell. Flesh.

Burning flesh.

"Growlithe has Flash Fire, so it couldn't be him... That means... Leaf!"

She took off at full speed, nearly at the site.

"She WILL be mine. You don't deserve her. You are weak!"

The Growlithe was pinning the Leafeon to the ground, taking in the flames and feeding them back to Leaf, who was barely clinging onto his life

"I-i would stop Gr-growly"

The fire type chuckled. "So you can get up and attack me?" He wasn't even himself anymore; the amount of power he absorbed was... Intoxicating...

"N-no. Because Abb-Abby will hunt y-you down and-" He passed out.

"Heh-heh. Serves you right. Now she's all mine" He stepped off Leaf and started to walk towards where (he thought) Absol was sleeping. But, when he looked up, he saw her... Standing there, horrified at what she saw.

"Uh-oh" He took off into the trees, running away towards the volcano; he would be safe there. But, out of nowhere, the winds seemed to just attack him... He fell to the ground, writhing in pain, waiting for Absol to come for him...

She could not believe what she was seeing. Growlithe, in the midst of the flames, was pinning Leaf to the ground, and was killing him. They were conversing, but Absol couldn't understand what they were saying. Growly stepped off Leaf and turned to face Absol.

"That's it" She gave him a glare. "He's dead"

As if he could read her mind, he bolted off towards into the trees. But, she was ready for him. She took aim and unleashed the Razor Wind she had been charging; it hit him straight on back legs. It couldn't have been a better shot.

"Leaf"

Knowing that Growlithe wasn't going anywhere soon, she wandered over to her dying mate. She nudged him with her snout; he was still unconscious.

She looked at Growly, who was watching her. "Absol... I'm real-"

"SORRY? YOU KILLED HIM!" Her anger that she had been pushing down on that was ever directed at Growly suddenly exploded out of her. Her breathing changed from a dry sobbing to raspy, deep breathing. He killed him. He deserved the pain... He deserved to die.

Her hatred took over her mind and body. She walked slowly towards Growlithe, who was desperately trying to crawl away. This did not work, and Absol quickly caught up and grabbed him. She rolled him onto his back and planted her foot on his throat. "Why?" She screamed directly into his face. "Why did you do it?"

"Because... I love you"

Not even being taken back at the statement, Absol leaned in close. "That's complete crap and you know it" She bashed his head with her foot... Hard. Blood was leaking from the site of impact.

"This feeling... Being able to finally get rid of this anger... It's almost... Intoxicating..."

"N-no... It's completely true. I prom-"

She bashed his head with her foot again, this time the impact sending a sadistic shiver up her spine. A pool of blood had formed under Growlithe's head, and was only getting bigger.

Again and again, she continued to pound away at his head, each hit sending her a wave of sadistic pleasure. Eventually, she began slashing at his body too, even though she knew that life had long since passed from his body... But, like all things, she tired.

"I -pant- think he's -pant- dead now... Leaf!"

She half walked, half trotted over to Leaf, who was now no longer hot from the fire that set him ablaze. Now that it was out, she could inspect the damage... But even at a glance, she knew it was hopeless... His usually light brown fur was now charcoal black and every single one of his leaves were burnt to a crisp. She let a tear fall onto his body. Nothing could save him... He was barely alive... But without him... She would be nothing... Nothing...

She cautiously let Leaf fall to the ground. She looked around the field. The flowers were in bloom; Leafeon's favourite time of year. It was the perfect time... His final place his final moments. This will be his resting place.

"Thank you Abby. Thank you for letting me have such a great life" Absol leaned down to kiss the grass type on his lips. "I love you Abby. I always will"

"Please Leaf" She fought her hardest not to let a tear come out. "Don't go..." But, it was too late... He was dead.

She gave him another kiss on the lips. "I love you too" And one tear, a single tear, came out just when she turned. It landed right on his chest.

Right on his heart.

(Sigh) "Alone again... Except this time... I'm not going though it again..."

She wandered through the forest with her head down, glancing up every now and then to make sure she was going the right way. She heard a noise up ahead and gave a sad smile. Ahead, was the hive.

She walked inside. It was easily the biggest she had ever seen, and the one she "visited" most, with Growly of course... She looked around to see hundreds of Combee flying around, taking the time to glare at her angrily. But, they couldn't do anything without the consent of their Queen. So, she was safe... For now.

She entered the main chamber, where the Queen resides. And there she was... Sitting there while her hundreds, possibly thousands of workers worked day in, day out. All waiting for her command. It made her sick.

"You again? What do you want?"

"Y-you know ex-exactly what I want"

The Vespiquen laughed at the Dark type's 'foolishness'. "You seriously think you'll be able to defeat us? At least before you had the decency to bring that fire friend with you". She turned around and clapped her hands. "Kill her".

As the Vespiquen went back to the chair in the room, every Combee came swooping down and used Bug Bite on Absol. Almost immediately, she fell to the ground in defeat. She had chosen this. This way to die... Her mind drifted to Growly and Nine. "I'm so sorry you two... Please, forgive me..."

Her vision completely gone now. Her mind was foggy, and she could barely think. Eventually, her mind came to Leaf. "I love you Leaf, always have, and always will"

With that thought in her mind, she enabled herself to smile. The pain, almost non-existent. And yet, her body was broken... Now, she could rest in peace...
