Black Wolf Clan: To Young to be a Leader

Story by Seventh Architect on SoFurry

Fighting has always been started from anger and love. Nothing else. So if we started a war because someone told us to would you do it?

I followed my dad out the door. He had been worried for the past few days when mom was taken fom us. I dropped my gun and let go of his hand.

"Jason. We don't have enough time for you to keep stopping us."

"I'm sorry dad. I've just never held a gun before and you were almost holding me in the air."

"I'm sorry son but we need to keep going."

I nodded and put the gun in its holster. I let the holster hang at my side as I got on all fours. Dad was ahead already. I sprinted down the hall after him. He disappeared around a corner to reappear again firing his gun at something.

"Damn it. They found us. Run Jason!"

I turned around and sprinted down the hall in the other direction. Dad took a bomb from his waist and through it back. A cloud of red smoke filled the hallway.

"Cover your mouth and nose son."

I tied my bandana around my muzzle covering my mouth enough to where nothing could get in my lungs other than air. Dad fell to the floor.

"Run...Jason...Get to the...Dock."

He cut his finger and used the blood to draw a mark on my arm. I looked at it for a second. It was the fighter's mark given by captains of the clan. I was now an elite. I nodded then climbed into the air duct. The smell of blood came frm behind me as last words dad said were cut short. I held back the tears as I crawled through the duct to the furnace. I dug my claws into the metal side and slowly worked my way to the other side. Once there I kicked the vent open and craweled out. There were people with the clan marks all around me. The man all the way to the left helped me up.

"We don't have much time Jason. hurry up and choose who your mother will be before we have to make the decision."

I thought for a moment. There was three females in front of me. Sira, she was fast and silent enough to be a ninja. Peria, she was strong and usually carried a longsword wherever she went. Breanna, she was anexcellent marksman and has not missed her target since beginning her training. The three women before me all were waiting for my answer.

"You have to the count of three...One...Two...Thr-"

"Lydia. Where is she?", I answered.

Everyone in the room started to whisper a few things.

"Uhm. You can't choose her. She isn't a choice."

"Not a choice? Hah! I'm an elite. My dad gave me the rank just before he died. I should be giving orders right now. But no. I'm too young to be leading the clan. I'm ten years old. So I have about nine more years to go. And anyone is a choise if you don't specify who I have to choose from. I chose Lydia. So she is my mother. Not Sira, not Breanna, not Peria. Lydia."

"But thats not in the clan co-"

"Consider it my first command lieutenant Gregory."

"L-lieutenant?!

"Yes. you are my body guard until we get out of here too. do not fail me Greg. If you do then the whole clan will fall."

"Is it just me or is he diferent?", Peria asked.

"His attitude has changed.", Greg answered.

"The hell it has. Now lets go before they find us.", I commanded.

The all drew their weapons and headed to the door.

"Wait."

They all stopped before opening the door.

"I plan on getting us all out of here alive. No one will be left behind. If anyone dies I might snap again. Dad is already dead and thats enough to make me mad. Kill anything that moves."

Peria opened the door and stuck her head out. She moved back.

"Clear."

Everyone ran out the door. Greg picked me up and ran out behind them. We came by only three guards as we all escaped the massive complex. Once outside there was only the turret defenses to worry about.

"Greg. Stop. We need to take care of the turrets first."

"Easily taken care of. you didn't think that we would have an escape route did you?" Greg took out a detonator and pressed the button. An EMP burst racked the entire complex shutting down any electrical systems. I watched as the entire front gate crashed down in front of us impaling Peria through the back. Everything slowed down. I could even see bullets flying into her body even thought she had been killed by the gate. The guards didn't care. To them a target's a target. Once they ceased fire They immediately began searching for us. I tapped Greg's arm and he let me down. I took out my gun and aimed above the gate.

"They can all go to hell."

I fired and seconds later a blackhole opened. Plasma tenticles stretched outward in all directions pulling in everything in a fifty foot radius before disappearing. I looked around and no guard was in sight.

"Go!"

Everybody sprinted towards the hole in the gate and climbed out. As I pulled myself over I felt the bullet enter my left side. My vision blurred and the last thing I could see was Greg grabbing me.

============== ===============

Three days later I woke up in a small tent. I got up out of the bed and walked over to the table where everyone was sitting.

"Where is Lydia?"

"You shouldn't be awake right now. Not supposed to be awake for another week. How-"

"I said where's Lydia?!"

They all went silent i shuddered and grabbed my side. The pain quickly went away. I walked over to the radio table and grabbed the headset.

"Last chance. You tell me where Lydia is or I will find her on my own."

"She is on her way here. But she won't be here for the next eleven days."

I dropped the headset.

"Good. You said I was not supposed to wake up for the next few days so I won't."

I went over to the bed and calmed myself down. The pain slowly came back. Before I could lay down I blacked out. A week later I wake up to Lydia cradling me in her arms. Everyone around us was looking at both her and me in shock. She never showed this kind of affection to anyone. Not even a simple hand shake. I chose her so that she could teach me how to fight. But I guess I was wrong. It was...odd.

"He's awake. Get me a pair of tweasers, scissors, and cotton balls. I need to clean him up."

She layed me down and I immediately sat up.

"Why are you being so nice? This is not the Lydia I remember."

"Well You'd be surprised. I've never had cubs of my own. But deep down I've always wanted a child to care for and fight along side in the field."

I smiled.

"So you accept me?"

"Definitely. You are actually the first to claim me as your mother."

A man gave a tray with what she asked for to her and she put it on the table next to my bed.

"Well. The bullet passed clean through. You're lucky to be alive. Usually when the lung is pierced it's hard tokeep the person alive long enough to get the medial attention. Usual dispatch is three days. But your's was over a week."

"I guess that I didn't want to die yet. My dad died trying to save all of us. The clan. Before he died he made me the next leader. But I chose not to take it. I'm too young. So. The lead goes to you. You are my mother after all."

"Listen. I know you wanted me as your mother but that doesn't give me the right to call myself the leader of our clan."

"If I'm leader then I can pass it on to you if I want. But once I turn nineteen I will take over."

"Well. Orders are orders. I'll take the lead. But you are not going anywhere until that wound is healed."

"I can feel it stretching open with every breath I take."

"Well It wasn't completely closed up. ust enough to keep you alive."

She wiped my mouth with a cotton ball to get rid of the blood.

"How long has he been coughing up blood?"

"Not since He was shot.", Greg answered.

"Thats impossible though. If he had a punctured lung he should be coughing up blood right now."

"Shouldn't it be hurting a lot more?"

"Wait. What?"

"It hurts as much as if I had bruised it. Nothing more. A week ago it hurt bad enough to make me pass out."

"Hey...Wait. Lets see the wound."

Lydia slowly peeled back the bandage and she stared at it. I looked down at my chest and saw that the wound was completely closed up and healed.

*sigh* "I knew this would happen. But your dad didn't care. Your mother was a lycan."

I tilted my head to the side.

"What's a lycan?"

"Deadly creatures. Half human, half wolf. They can willingly change forms and they heal very fast. It seems you have inherited your mom's traits. Though you will age slower than us. So when you are the right age of leadership you will look like you are sixteen."

"A third difference. Should I be worried about anything else?"

"Not currently. And if I'm correct we should be able to go in less than a day's time."

"Good. My dad dies, I get pissed. Peria dies, I snap. We will avenge them both. I will give a single command before resigning my position to you. Bring the complex down. Nuke it, blast it, dissolve it. I don't care how you do it. I want everyone one in there dead and all survivors to suffer. Now lets go before they find discover us."

"Understood."

We all left the room. Before I left I grabbed a weapon that caught my eye earlier. I believe it was called a pike. But the blade was a crescent shape that curved upwards away from the shaft and in the middle of the bottom of the blade was a small orb that had a magical substance inside.

"This might come in handy some day."

"I bet it would. It was a gift from me to you. You were supposed to get it on your next birthday.", Lydia said.

"Well. Thank you."

I caught up with the others and made my way to the front by Lydia's side. She rubbed my head and I smiled. I liked the way she was nice but that will take some getting used to. I looked up at the warrior. What was once a deadly killer was now a caring mother. I just wonder how she will take the lead of the clan as. A few guards sighted us so we had to move quickly and either kill them or get away before they tell the others we're here. Before either of them could move Lydia had already leaped at them. It was set. They won't survive unless one of us stops her. After a minute of bloody beatings she stopped and came back to the group.

*pant* "Well someone had to do it."

"Just don't keep doing that. You made bloody scene and if someone finds this they will know we're here."

"Stop worrying about getting caught Jason."

For the entire night we traveled by foot to the borders of the complex. The wall seperating us from the world outside. As we neared it lights came on all around us and about fifty guns were pointed at us. I walked to the front with my pike and all were aimed to me.

"You tried to kill me once. You going to try again? Not a chance if you can't see."

I brought the pike up and slammed the endof it on the ground. Blue lightning streaked from the spot and a large golem rose from the ground. All of the lights were short circuited and we disappeared in a cloud of black shadow like smoke. As we escaped over the wall the sounds of the gunners shooting and the golem roaring could be heard loud and clear. Once we were out of earshot of the battle we stopped and set upt camp. not able to risk them finding us noone made a fire. I snuggled up to Lydia, her heart beat calming me as I slipped into a deep sleep.

========================================================

The next morning...

I awoke to Lydia stroking my fur. I yawned and smiled, my tail wagging slowly in a fluid like motion.

"Good morning Jason. You sleapt well?"

I stopped wagging my tail and frowned.

"I wass totally expecting you to not say that."

"Well I did. So deal with it."

I got up and walked over to the small river we had stopped by and scooped some water up with my hands. It tasted like sweet water. As if we were back home. But we aren't even close. I had to start learning how to use alchemy as well. That move back there was just blind luck. Not Only did I do it without a circle but I also did three things at once. Creating a smok screen, an emp burst, and even a golem. A golem that was alive. If I made it then which of our souls did I use? I looked around and saw noone missing except for Peria.

"Peria! Where is...Thats right...She died."

"Well atleast she died fighting. How about one last hoorah for Peria?", Lydaia announced.

Everyone let out a loud "Hoorah!" and I smiled. If Lydia were not my first choice then Peria ould be my mother now. But I chose Lydia. She was a crossbreed between a wolf and a hell hound. Though I have no clue as of to which one is her mother and which one is her father, I prefer not to know right now. When she gets angry she is engulfed in flames and her claws become three times as long. Though they would be more like talons because they were already twice as long as a wolfs on a regular daily basis. But her white fur always brings out the beautiful female she was to every male her age. I didn't pick her for her looks though. I chose her because she was the best of the best. Learning from her would be like fighting in the field. She had the best teaching ways possible and it surprises me that no other orphaned cub has ever chosen her. Ipicked up my pike and twirled it around, testing its weight. It was balanced along with the blade at the end. So using it would be easy for anyone. I looked at the gem closer and discovered it to be a philosopher stone. Carved from a larger piece.

"It was your dads. He requested that the philosopher stone be embedded into the pike and passed down to you when he died. He has never used it before. And noone else has."

"So that why I had an easy time performing alchemy last night. But I am not wanting to take any short cuts so soon."

I touched the stone then ran my hands down the side of the entire shaft, transmuting it into a set of blades my size. But even doing this I still need to be careful. Over use of the stone can result in a backfire. And too afraid the use it too much I transmuted it into three longswords, two swords, and two short swords. Each made of carbon. Now that I have a set of nearly indestructable blades I won't need to acquire a new one every once and a while. The blades were layed before me.

"Not a fan of the pike are you?", Lydia asked.

"Not the sword either. Take the rest of these blades as your own."

I took the long sword with the gem attached to the handle and transmuted it into two guns. Using the stone I drew a circle into each of the guns' sides.

"Auto transmutation circles are hard to come by. Luckily my dad had me memorize this one."

I loaded a gun with a single bullet and aimed at a tree. I pulled the trigger and it blasted a hole the size of a baseball through the tree completely. The tree itself was atleast seven feet thick. I smiled and made holsters for the two guns then put the philospher stone away in a box I made for it. Using my knowledge of what I already know about alchemy I drew a small circle on it and transmuted the box shut. Sealing it to where it would be useless unless you cut it open. I turned to Lydia.

"Ok. I have two questions. One, how did you get into the black wolf clan? I thought that only black wolves were supposed to be able to join."

"Well. Thats atually a lie. Any wolf can join."

"Oh. Two, will you teach me how to use alchemy? And I mean how to use it without the philosopher stone."

"We already have that covered. A while back your dad met up with the homunculus Envy. Not one to show her true form he had tofigure out that she was a homunculus either by asking her or forcing her into her original body form."

"How did he get her to reveal that she was a homunculus?"

"Well...Uhm...He...Seduced her."

I growled

"...Are you telling me that my biological mother is a homunculus?!"

"No. They never crawled into bed. Actually what he did was he had dated her for a while. Once he was about to push their relationship further she stoped him and told him the truth. After she revealed her true body he became even happier. So he continued to try and push their relationship further and she couldn't take it. So she offered him a deal. She would do something that is not sex related for him if he stopped trying to get her in his bed. He accepted her offer."

While I stared at Lydia someone that looked exactly like her, weapons included, walked by.

"So when did you sneak in here?"

"What are you..."

"Lydia!"

"What!", they both said.

"That figures."

The lydia that I wasn't talking to tackled the one I was talking to and pinned her to the ground.

"Who the hell are you?!", she growled.

"I guess the gig is up."

The pinned Lydia changed into a person wearing black clothes and had red nodles ranning along her arms and legs. Her dark green hair falling to the ground.

"Well. I have to admit. Not everyone here is a dumb animal."

Lydia growled and flames engulfed her body.

"Ooh. I'm so scared. What are you going to do? Try to kill me?"

"Don't tempt me."

Lydia got off of Envy and I stared at the homunculus.

"So what is your reason as of to being here?"

"Well. Your dad actually did seduce me. Though playing as a wolf was kinda fun. He was probably the first person I had ever fallen in love with."

"Your not making it clear enough for me to understand."

"Lets put it this way. Your dad is dead and I still owe him a favor. And I will teach you about how alchemy works so I don't owe him anything."

"So you will teach me alchemy huh? Whats the catch?"

*sigh* "Why does everyone expect there to always be a catch? There is no catch. Its just doing a favor for a friend."

"...If you fell in love with him then why did you refuse his request to become his mate?"

"Well. I am upposed to be doing something for Father. And having a family would just get in the way."

"Wait a minute...Was that you a snuggled up against last night?"

"No. That was Lydia. I don't have any affection for you. So don't get any ideas. Now. You have two choices. Gloves or no gloves?"

"What?"

"Do you want to pass the line or use the shortcut that millions use everyday?"

"Define passing the line."

"You draw a transmutation circle. Activate it. Then offer something to the door."

"What do I have to offer exactly?"

"Two things either your body or the philosopher stone."

"What is the shortcut you are talking about? The other option."

"Well. We make you a pair of gloves and draw a tranmsutation circle on them."

"I don't have the time to wait. We need to get out of here and quick. But I know about the door."

Envy frowned,"What do you mean?"

"I mean that I know what the door is. I either offer my body and allow my soul to be attached to something or Don't even do the tranmsutation circle and get some gloves. But I'd rather give my body. I have a few plans of my own."

Envy smiled,"Well then lets get started."

Envy grabbed my arm and lead me to a clearing in the forest.

"Perfect."

"Yeah. So noone can here me scream."

"Lighten up you little brat. You couldn't be heard even if we did it at the camp site."

Envy drew a large circle and motioned for me to come over. I walked around the circle reading what she wrote. The language of the alchemist is in both a different alphabet and dialect. But I was lucky enough to have a dad that knew how to speak it.

"Step outside of the ring. Written with blood it could have a devestating effect on you if it were messed up."

I smiled and put both my hands on the circle. It glowed a dark red then a bright white. Red bolts of energy streaked across it.

"What...What did you do?!"

"You don't think I would actually give up my own body did you?"

I took my hands off of the circle and pulled out the philosopher stone, showing it to Envy.

"You tricked me."

"Well. I don't want to learn alchemy. And I already knew about you and my dad. He has never told anyone about her other than me. So when I saw that my new mother, Lydia, was talking about a homunculus I knew that was you talking. Thanks for making the circle."

I stepped into the middle of the circle and held out the philosopher stone to the door protruding out of the ground. The eyes on the door closed and the door opened. Tiny black hands came out and grabbed me. I didn't feel anything touch me but I could still feel them pulling me in. Two hands came out and grabbed the stone, picking it up and pushing it to my chest. I smiled as the stone slowly dissolved into my body. attaching it to my soul. Once that was over the hands let go of me and the door closed, disappearing into the ground as the circle dissolved into nothing. I turned to Envy and she chuckled.

"You may be the first to ever make a fool of me. Your lucky that you have that stone attached to your soul. Cause if not then I would have left you in the abyss. Another soul delivered to the door. I guess not all of you wolves are dumb and brainless. What gets me mad is that I was outsmarted by a ten year old lycan wolf hybrid."

"Now. You promised you would teach me the basics of alchemy so you will."

"Fine...But if you make one wrong move then you know what I'm capable of."

"It won't matter. With my new abilities all I hae to figure out is how to heal everyone and I could keep them all alive long enough to kill you."

Envy's smile disappeared.

"You took knowledge from the door?"

"No. I just had a father who studdied enough alchemy to be a homunculus himself. He planned on becoming one and when he revealed his plan to his boss they hunted him down like an animal."

"So it seems that if I reveal you are now bound to the philosopher stone then you would be hunted down too?"

"I didn't say he was hunted down because he would be immortal like me. I said that he was hunted down because he would be a homunculus. And with the ability to use alchemy at will I can unlock my full potential as a lycan. Being an unstoppable force that could destroy anything. So if you wish to keep this up then maybe once I am nineteen you will be able to fall for me as you wish you could now."

"I never said that-"

"But the way you keep looking at me says you do. Keep your mouth shut and I'll keep mine shut. I won't be labeled as an exhile and you won't be embarassed enough to never show your face here again. so if that happens then what will you do then?"

"No. I have to do what Father tells-"

"But you don't wish to. you wish to be with me. So if you ever decide to leave your father then I could always be your knight in shining armor."

Envy grinded her teeth.

"Thats what I thought. You can start teaching me once we're out of here."

As I walked past her I tapped her shoulder. She changed into a wolf and blushed.

=================================================

Switching to Envy...

Once he was gone I let out a sigh and layed down on the grass.

"falling for another one are you?"

"Shut up Lust. Nobody asked you."

"Well. He does seem cute at that age but once he turns that certain age you will fall head over heels for him."

"But if father finds out..."

"He knew about when you fell for that kids dad and he knows that you have fallen for the kid. But it makes you angry knowing that he's under age doesn't it?"

"Shut up Lust."

"Just make sure you are not late for promise day. He needs you to gather up a few people. Remember. You have one year after he turns nineteen. Just make sure you tell father if you are staying with him."

"I will if I'm still falling for him by then. But until then back off."

Lust gets up and leaves.

"I don't get why I prefer this body. He turned me into a wolf for crying out loud."

I get up and walk back to camp

=========================================

Switching to Jason...

I watched as Envy walked into the camp. She hadn't changed her form which means that she likes her little present.

"Who's this?", Lydia asked pointing a sword to Envy.

"That would be...", I tap Envy's shoulder and she changes back into a human, "Envy."

"If you change me into a wolf again I will-"

"Rip my head off? I'd like to see you try."

I went up to Lydia and motioned her to bend down so that we were eye level.

"Yes Jason?"

"Call everyone one up. I have an announcement."

She nods then gets on top of a crate.

"Hey! Jason has an announcement to make so listen up!"

I step up next to her.

"Ok. We have a follower. Envy. She will be teaching me the basics of alchemy. I also have no need for any circles because she took care of that. I currently have attached the philosopher stone to my soul so I will still age until I am twenty. After that I shall live on as a twenty year old male. Any questions?"

"Yeah.", Lydia said,"What the hell did she do to you?!"

"She drew me a circle. And thats it."

"Lets keep it that way.", Envy said.

Everyone dispersed and continued what they were doing. I jumped down and followed Envy to the same clearing that we will be traing in for the next few days.

Part one is done. Part two coming soon...Tomorrow...in a few minutes.
