It was a dark October night, what little light the full moon could give shrouded by clouds. There was a breeze, mild, although still enough to raise the hairs on your neck. In the small Wyoming town of Rockingdale, this breeze always persisted. There was always one stretch of highway that funneled this breeze perfectly, to make a chilling sound. It was on this road on this night, that young Christine lost her life.

Christine was a young girl, attractive in all senses of the word. She had brown hair, gorgeous green eyes, and a body that was luxuriously curvy. This was a nighttime walk like any other for her, these walks being a pastime of hers ever since she was in high school. The night air always managed to clear her senses.

And so she was, walking slowly down this lonely stretch of asphalt. She had always been told, "Beware the wildlife," but she had never been bothered by any of the many creatures she had seen on her strolls. So when there was a mournful wolf howl, a fair distance away, she did not feel there was a cause to be alarmed.

A car drove by, the bright headlights clouding up Christine's vision. She shielded her eyes, and stopped, waiting for her night vision to normalize again. After a few seconds, her vision returned, and she continued on her way. Her pace remained the same throughout, aside from the pause. She stopped again, the hairs on her neck standing straight up.

There was another howl, this one closer. She stood, breathing heavily from panic. Christine then sped up, walking briskly down the road. There was another howl, even closer, causing the girl to speed up yet again. This pattern continued until it seemed the wolf was right behind her and she was sprinting.

Christine was a track star as a senior at the local high school. She was still able to churn out a decent distance, even after a year without running. However the distance soon proved to be too much for her, and she stopped, bent over breathing heavily. She looked back, seeing nothing but empty road behind her. Christine sighed and continued to walk, moving slowly to recover.

The breeze began to get to the women, and she pulled up her ragged denim jacket to keep off the cold. There was another howl, this one off to the side of her, but far away. She sighed with relief, and relaxed. In her mind, she had just scared herself; there was never any real danger. She couldn't, however, be any further from the truth.

There was a rusting in the ditch beside her, the bushes in it visibly shaking in the night. She moved back, to the other side of the road. She stared, her breaths coming out as heaving gasps. She coughed, and spoke.

"Who is that?" She asked.

Christine had always had a high pitched voice, but now her voice was shrill with fear. There was no answer, aside from the bushes shaking some more. "This isn't funny," She began shrilly, "Nathan? Are you messing with me again?"

The bushes stopped moving, and all was deathly quiet. Christine looked on, still breathing heavily. She didn't know how long she stood like that, trying to get the composure to put one foot in front of the other. Finally, she started to walk again, staying on the opposite side of the road from that ditch.

She became dimly aware of the sound of scratching behind her. It sounded like a dog, like the dull scrape of their claws as they moved. She stopped the noises behind her stopping as well. Christine stood, trying to summon the strength to turn and look. She heard whatever it was breathing behind her, the sound shallow and fast. Christine gulped, and turned around.

It was a feral white wolf, the fur black in some places that towered over the woman. She gasped, stepping away from the gargantuan thing. It seemed to shake, froth dripping from its lips. It advanced upon Christine, who took another step back. It snarled, showing off all of the sharp teeth in its maw. The wolf gave an angry yap and said with a guttural snarl.

"Run. Now."

Christine gave a squeal and ran, sprinting down the straight stretch of road. The wolf soon followed after with a howl, tracking down its prey. The human girl looked back, her breath coming out as sobs and needy gasps. The wolf pounced, taking the girl into the adjacent ditch. Christine shrieked, tearing herself from the denim jacket the wolf lodged its claws in.

Christine hauled herself out of the ditch. She turned back to look at the wolf, who was sitting on his haunches staring at the woman. She laughed and continued to run, but was stopped. A large black furred paw came towards the women, and she felt a rushing warmth spill over her abdomen. She clutched her belly, feeling the warmth of her life blood spilling out onto the ground.

The black anthro wolf snarled and pushed the woman to the ground, her exposed guts landing on the pavement with a satisfying splat. The wolf then began to rip at the women, taking off her limbs with a violent fervor. She gasped and moaned, her warm blood spurting out into the night air. He flipping the dying human over, and with a mighty strike, clawed across it and caved in the side of her head.

The white feral walked towards the anthro, his joints popping and cracking as he moved. After a series of bone contortions and pops, he stood beside the black wolf. The now anthro white wolf stared at the body, looking over it with an eager glint.

"Good kill love," He said.

The deep bass growl rolled out across the highway and forests the black wolf pacing over the girls dead mangled body. His hackles were raised lips pulled back in a snarl showing his giant canines. His yellow eyes glinted in the light a dark glee from his kill. Suddenly a deep growling voice rang out from him.

"The time has come again my mate, we shall make these humans pay for their transgressions."

He turned to the white wolf near him and his hackles fell an evil grin crossing his muzzle. The white wolf walked up to him nuzzles his side tenderly and sharing his grin.

"Yes vengeance will finally be ours, the humans will know what true pain is," he replied.

"Yes my mate, they will find out one death at a time," the black wolf snarled.

With that they set off into the forest back from which they came getting ready for their plan. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Sheriff McDougal scratched his head taking off his hat and wiping the sweat off his forehead with his forearm.

'God what kind of mess is this I'm too old to do this," He thought to himself.

He was forty years old and nearing retirement from being sheriff in the small town of Rockingdale a small town in Wyoming barely anyone knew about.

He had woke up feeling like today would be fine but then he'd gotten a call from the local doctor saying that there's something he needed to see. He had driven up to the small highway and met the old doc Washington.

"Hey doc what you got?" he had asked happily, moving his hand to shake but then he had seen doc's face, white as a ghost with sweat all over.

"You got to see it," doc Washington began.

He had been confused to what could have scared doc like that then he saw it. He couldn't really call it a body any more it was a ragged lump now. He gulped and turned away bile rising in his throat then running behind his truck puking up the morning contents. He came back to the doc.

"What the hell happened doc?" He said, looking over the body.

"Well at first I thought it was a bear mauling." He gulped, "But then I examined the wounds and the way it looks she was tortured and dismantled piece by piece left alive to feel it."

McDougal stood there stunned unable to speak.

"What could have done this?" he asked, scared to find the answer.

"Well honestly I don't know I mean first her chest and belly was ripped open," he paused wiping his head, "and then her arm was ripped of then her leg then her chest and ribs were forced open after that it's just pissing on the grave for fun," He took a deep breath "but whatever did this it isn't human."

McDougal gave doc a look.

"Isn't human?" The sheriff began, "Then what the hell was it and how'd it do that all so well."

"I don't know sheriff but I don't think it's safe in the woods anymore," the doc replied.

That had been four hours ago but now word was out and a local news crew had come up trying to interview him.

"Sheriff, what did this?"

"Sheriff, Do you know who the victim is?"

"Sheriff is there anything you want to say about this situation?"

He stopped and thought.

"Yes one thing, as of now there is a curfew," The sheriff began, "No one of any age is allowed out of the city limits past 9 o'clock."

That started a new flurry of questions but ignored them walking back to the redirecting road block. He looked over to the body bag and shook his head suddenly he heard the roar of an engine and looked down the road to see a black old 69' Dodge Charger coming up to the road block. He cocked an eyebrow

'Out of towners that's strange,' He thought to himself.

He walked over himself to talk to them. He was going to find out why these people were here and what they wanted.

The sheriff went over to the car, walking slowly over to it. The windows were tinted, the sheriff sure that the amount was over the limit. He saw New Mexico plates on the car, and stopped, taking care to write down the license plate number. The driver's side window rolled down, allowing the officer a look at just who was inside the car.

The driver was a big brawny man, about 6'3. He was tan, with short brown hair, and grey pale eyes. He was wearing a black leather jacket, with some faded denim jeans. He had the air of someone who was not afraid to do anything, even terrible things.

His partner was a different story. The passenger was slender and a very pale white. The other male was shorter than his partner, only 6'3 and had deep piercing blue eyes. He was wearing a plain grey t-shirt with denim shorts. This man, however seemed aloof, and was much more relaxed than his partner. The sheriff took note of this, and went over to the passenger's side.

"Good morning gentlemen," Sherriff McDougal began, "What brings you to this neck of the woods."

The passenger spoke. His voice infused with a rasping growl.

"We just heard that this was a lovely town, thinking of buying a house here," The pale man replied.

"Oh," The sheriff said, "Well I don't know if there's any houses for sale, why don't you go down to the real estate office in Davis, they have listings here."

"We'd figure we'd check out the town first," The driver began; his voice deeper than his partner's but with the same growl, "Know a good motel to stay in?"

"Yeah, the Homestead Inn," The sheriff began, "It's just past here, on Main Street, can't miss it."

The sheriff motioned for the other officers to let the two go past. He waved at the two, who responded with toothy grins. McDougal couldn't help but notice how sharp the pair's teeth looked. The windows rolled up, and the two began to drive off.

"My love," The pale man began, "That sheriff needs to go."

"I know my mate," The tan man replied, "And he will, in due time."

Sheriff McDougal watched as the Charger pulled away and narrowed his eyes. There was something going on here and he knew it. He didn't know what yet but he didn't like the gleam in those two men's eyes and they're convenient timing either to just blow into town. He didn't know what they were up to but he was sure as hell going to find out.
